can i connect to my pc with the o2 by wirless coccection - MDA, XDA, 1010 General

...to make it simple - to share files with my pc when im out from the office
does there is a way to do it ?

Try this
www.xmail.o2.uk
It's a trial version of what will probably become a subscription service. Amongst other things, if your desktop is connected to the internet, you can dial in from your XDA and browse and download files from your desktop. I don't think it lets you upload files, however, but you can always e-mail files to your desktop.

Sorry, wrong URL, try this
https://xmail.o2.co.uk/subscriber/login.stp

I run a small FTP-server on my desktop-PC (CesarFTP) and an FTP-client on my XDA (FileCommander or FtpView)

[APP][REQUEST] SyncToy for PDA

Hi Community,
I am searching for a tool like SyncToy 2.1 from Microsoft to sync data such as files, folders between my LG GM750 Smartphone and network folders.
MobSync is not what I want because of the data transfer via ActiveSync and the problem with large files.
My environment at home is a WiFi Router which is connected to the internet via UMTS. Attached to the router are 2 hard drives with 500 GB and 1500 GB. On the hard drives are the folders (SMB shares) I want to sync with folders on my smartphone's sd card.
The phone is connected via WiFi to the router and I have access to the shares on the hard drives using Total Commander.
I searched for weeks now to find such an application without success until now. Maybe I have overseen... otherwise there might be a programmer here who can take care of my wish!
Thanks in advance!
Werner

Hi,
no, this app uses some internet service. This is not what I want.
My goal is an app like SyncToy in which I can create folder pairs to be syncronized. There is no need to involve the internet. It's just an intranet thing taking place in my private local area network...
Any further suggestions? All apps I found are using ActiveSync... but the sync should work over Wireless LAN.
Best regards,
Werner
unfortunately I am not aware of such an app.
I am afraid that you're right...
in the past few hours I have intensified my search dramatically... but all promising apps are using ActiveSync or WMDC. I even thought of Mortscript but how can I compare folders and determine changes AND generate lists of files to be copied...?
However, for the moment I have given up. If there is a programmer around here... please help!
Thanks in advance & best regards,
Werner

It says right on the front page that it syncs with Windows Mobile.

hmmm...yes and no...
There is no Windows Mobile client, but I would have to run it from my netbook or any other computer. And then it utilizes ActiveSync resp. WMDC...
Unfortunately, that is a no-go. I need an app on my Windows Mobile phone which syncs folder pairs over WiFi. No internet, no ActiveSync, no WMDC... just my private LAN...
I didn't discover such an app yet...
Best regards,
Werner

connecting tab 10.1 to OS Lion.... help!

hi all
Have tried to connect Tab 10.1 to my mac but no joy. Apparently OS lion doesnt support kies BUT can i connect via usb in the same way i would on galaxy s 2? I cant find any info anywhere to help.
I want to transfer files from mac to tablet and using bluetoothis too slow due to file size.
Thanks
I'm interest too
try ftp
don't know about the usb hookup but i'm running osx leopard and found that the easiest way to connect to my macbook is with an ftp connection. i'm using cyberduck (free) on my macbook and an app called file expert on my tab. file expert is like astro, but it allows you to share files via an ftp connection.
once you get it set up your tab file tree will show up on your macbook screen and then you can just drag/drop from finder. the whole setup process took me like 5 minutes...
on my home wifi network i'm getting transfer rates of about 3mps. a little slow for huge files, like movies, but perfectly fine for anything else. it's actually really nice not having to hook up with a cable. i may just use this as my go-to setup even when android file transfer get's updated for the tab.
if you google it there's a thread somewhere that details how to set this up...

Thanks anyway

If you are wanting to sync with files and playlists in iTunes, i use iSyncr. There are free options for USB amd WiFi as well as Mac/PC. The full versions are only $.99 if i recall. Ive used it on my Hero, Evo, Epic, Transformer, and now Galaxy Tab10.1. I have synchronized videos, podcasts, and music. Not really tried photos. Another useful function: it has an option to push new photos, amazon mp3, and video files from your android device to your computer.
The developers are responsive and nice to deal with. So I highly recommend as this solution as stood the test of time and Android updates. That says alot as ive noticed some apps can easily fall off the market or become out of date.

Looking for a wireless browser to view all folders on phone

Hi Everyone
Can anyone suggest a program that i can view ALL my phone folders from my pc via wifi.
Looking for an application like 'dropspot'.
i dont mind if the app connects via smb, ftp or http.
i would preferably like the app to be for non rooted phones (so my missus can use this as well).
So far, my search has ended with all applications just being able to browse the 'SDcard' folder.
i have tried 'Andreas Liebig' and 'The Olive Tree' ftp server programs but neither of them are as good as 'dropspot'
Can anyone suggest an alternative (free/paid) to 'dropspot'???
Thanks
try swift ftp or airdroid

A couple more to ponder over. There is Wifi File Explorer Pro and Wifi File Transfer Pro. You just need to enter a address in your pc browser to view your phones files. Already mentioned AirDroid is particularly good because it is free and does alot more.
Just to add, these are from the play store.
Thanks guys, Wifi File Explorer Pro and Wifi File Transfer Pro both did the job great
Also loving swift ftp!!!
Thanks for the suggestions

[Q] send files from phone to PC but using data not wifi?

is there an app for that? i don't use wifi at all and want an easy way of sending files from my phone to my PC when i'm at home, at work, on vacation etc.
data isn't an issue as i'm on unlimited
I use Dropbox... upload files to Dropbox from phone and download to PC or tablet, upload from PC and download to phone or tablet, etc. There are other similar sites too.
i have dropbox, but i was thinking more of something direct to my PC. maybe like FTP?
file managers now have those options in android i think right?
I think airdroid allows you to do this, but you have to be at the computer.
Maybe teamviewer? Allow remote control and log in, transfer files.
Other then that dropbox, google drive or a website made for this would be the only other options I could possibly think of.
i have airdroid but this is more for transferring direct to the PC. i mean in the past i had an FTP server so could save stuff at home from college. if i did that again and set up some ftp client on my phone that would work surely?
hah! got it. the guide below for win8, open the port on my router, and an app off the store
