SPV Cam? - MDA, XDA, 1010 General

SPV is another Pocket PC phone, it has an digital cam for you to plugin to your phone. I heard that it is a CMOS cam and plugin the series port. Does anyone know ca we use this cam and its driver for our Xda?

SPV is not a PPC device. It is a Smarphone device. Different OS which means no, the SPV cam will not work in the xda.

Therb cam are many USB web cam out there for PC, but none of them is for PPC. Any developer who saw this message kind enough to write a USB cam driver for PPC......Many thanks!

You guys may misunderstood about the SPV CAM...
The CAM for SPV is working via a "SERIAL port", not USB...
In the PRC, someone had try to connect a SPV CAM into XDA and it seems to be pin-to-pin compatiable, but leak in the software driver..

Targus Universal IR Keyboard on WM 2003?

On the advice of some people here, I bought a Targus IR keyboard, and was disappointed to see it doesn't work right on WM 2003. I put it on my i-mate, no luck (it actually repeatedly soft-reset my i-mate), then on my old T-Mobile Pocket PC, and it doesn't work (WM 2003, 4.0.5), downgraded my T-mo back to 3.14 and it works fine.
Does anyone else have one of these working on WM 2003?
Yes. See review here:
www.pocketpcpassion.com/forum/showthread.php?s=5baac79508d015f527076ef2322a2efe&threadid=36437
still searching
The review really didn't tell me anything new.. i'm still looking for a way to get this thing working on the XDA or XDA II with Windows Mobile 2003.
Jon.
Targus won't work with my XDA
I have bought a Targus Universal wireless keyboard on the strength of people on this forum saying it works.
I can not get it to work with my XDA I. I tried the latest driver from targus. I even got rid of my custom cooked ROM and put a standard O2 UK ROM on.
When I enable the keyboard my XDA slows down so much it becomes unuseable. If I tap for the start menu it takes about 5 seconds to appear and everything else is just as slow. The XDA does not register anything if I press any keys on the keyboard. Even if I then use the program to disable the keyboard my XDA is to slow to use unitl I do a reset.
Can anyone help as I really don't want to have to try and return the keyboard.
Thanks
Stuart
That slowing down feature is the same as when you try to choose the irda port when using tomtom, I understand its to do with the xda not setting up a virtual port and addressing the port direct, I am no expert and have asked numerous questions about the irda port on xda but never got any answers, on the ipaq the irda shows up as "generic irda" and works great, however on xda it shows as "infrared port" or similar, when a program attempts to acces it the slow down/crash happens.
anyone can advise on less bulky keyboard for XDA I ....
(in ideal world I would additionally say) that works on WM2003
any ideas ??
regards, monika
Targus IR Keyboard with XDA1 + ROM 2002 NOT OK (Different Rom Versions)
Targus IR Keyboard with XDA2 + ROM 2003 NOT OK (Different ROM Versions)
Targus IR Keyboard with XDA1 + ROM 2003 OK. Tested by me with latest Tmobile RUU 4.01.00 and IRKeybd Driver Ver 1.25
thanx for the clarification but can you advise also on .....
something in terms of keyboard that is smaller that is working on WM2003 pls ???
regards
monika
As for the IR keyboard, I only tested Targus, which is somewhat bulky, as you say, but works with XDA 1 and WM2003 (Latest ROM version T-Mobile 4.01.00)
As for standard keyboard (with normal XDA connector, not IR) I have tested the G7B0 which is much slimmer and had no problems at all. It also has a plus: you can charge your XDA while connected to the keyboard with your normal standard charger and the keyboard itself does not need batteries, like the IR ones.
As for the Minus, compared to the Targus one, you will be missing: the emulated mouse, but then..., you are asking for a keyboard, not a mouse
thank you for your input
I might consider give it a try
regards, monika
I upgraded to the latest 4.01.00 ROM and indeed the Targus keyboard now works like a dream.
I had put of upgrading to WM2003 as I tried a while back and could not get GPRS working (O2 UK). This time I have managed to get it working but it does seem slower don't know why.
Thanks for your help
Stuart
you're most welcome

Connecting XDA Mini s to Hard drive Mp3 player

I'm new to this forum and appreciate all that I have learnt here so far.....but does anyone know if I can connect to my Creative Zen touch hard drive Mp3 player via mini USB and access the hard drive from my XDA mini s????
that would mean that the Wizard is capable to run in USB Host mode or USB OTG (On The Go i think).
anyone?
i've seen no docs saying this was available but if my 8125 could mount my iRiver H340 i would be a very happy clam indeed.
UPDATE
WM5 seems to be the limitation as far as this device lacking USB Host: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=37769
This discussion has been has about the universal a few time. The hardware should be capable, BUT, WM5 is not, so i'm afraid that you would not beable to do this.

Atom as a remote control?

Hi All,
I was just wondering if anyone has tried any remote control software on the Atom and if so, how did it work? Is the iR strong enough to use as a remote. Thanks in advance for your help.
Todd
I thing IR on Atom is not useble (IR on the right side, not on the top)
the best power IR was in Ipaq2210
It's useless with direct IR, just like most PPC's. What you can do is to use NetRemote with a computer with IR blaster (like the USB-UIRT). Look at www.promixis.com and you'll see the solutions.
I workd very well on my MDA Compact so it should work even better on atom. Use NoviiRemote, it is almost designed for the pocketpc!
ive found it to be totally useless ...
it works fine but has no range
2 meters is about its limit on all devices i have tried
it is however reliable and works properly at short distances

I used Noviremote trial version (15 days free use) and it worked fine within 3 metres range to control my TV, Sat receiver, but did not find the software useful enough to buy the progem after the 15 day trial. You can find some choices here: http://www.pocketpcmag.com/awards/category_WandF_2005.asp?catid=45#TVandStereoRemote

i installed NoviiRemote Deluxe on my Atom Exec but i'm not happy with it cuz the range is so limited, about a little more than 1 foot, and that's practically useless. this software had worked great on my O2 XDA Mini, though.
You can improve the range by attaching a magnifying lens to the IR port.. Someone had tried it on some other forum. But the trick is to get a lens small enough to stick it on to the IR port.

providing you have bluetooth and can setup a sync over activesync it works fine on Vista and XP Sp2, you can use the USB cable but wheres the fun in that.

Logitech C930e with Android 6.x

Hello!
I am a newbie here.
I have H96 PRO+ Amlogic S912 Octa-Core TV Box w/ 3GB DDR3, 32GB ROM and I would like to buy a webcam to be able to use it for Skyep too.
I would like to know if the Logitech C930e is compatible with Android 6.x or should I buy the Logitech C920?
If you have other webcam recommendations, please feel free to mention it
Thanks
AFAIK it should not matter as the cam will only be detected as a normal webcam anyway.
I doubt Android has specific drivers for Logitech.
I tired on several Android devices with a USB inspection cam using noname Windows drivers.
The cam worked on all Androids right away but I was for example unable to activate the light.

Not too far right. Not every USB Webcam is supported by Android.
You have to pick a one that is compatible with the Android version you have.
For example, I tried an old USB Webcam Logitech v-ubk45 that has a built-in mic with my box and only the mic worked but the cam was not recognized.
Thanks for that info, will keep in mind.
So far I had problems with all sorts of devices but even cam I connected just worked.
I have a 920 still around in one of my spares boxes, will hook it later today and report back if my box will recognise it.
C920 should work well as long as you have Android 5.x and above
Can confirm, my C920 works fine on the X96 and the Yundoo Y8.
I confirm that logitech c930e works well with Android 6.x
