PPC2002 software compatibility with PPC2003/ XDA Dev 1.2 - MDA, XDA, 1010 General

Hi there again,
I've been doing a lot of reading and searching through the forum and I now understand a lot more about my XDA - luvverly...
But I have a couple of questions - I have looked I promise but I can't find anything.. If I've missed something please forgive me !
This is all based on the fact that I still haven't upgraded the ROM to 1.1 or PPC 2003 (I'm kind of waiting for 1.2! - looks exciting!).. Yes I know I should, but are these problems common to standard PPC 2002 and will get fixed or are there other answers ?
1) Is PPC 2002 software that I install compatible with PPC 2003 ? I've got a shedload of freeware that states PPC 2002 only - is it a case of it's just untested ?
2) Program stopping - this is a major pain, when I cradle the unit and ActiveSync kicks in, it errors with "unresolved" if I have programs running.. so I have to go into memory etc and stop everything before I cradle it... I'm still not sure I understand the concept of keeping the progs open when I've exited them - can anyone help me here ? Is it like having a service in NT ?
Sorry for all of the questions, I know I should upgrade, but I like to understand why I'm upgrading first, so I'd really appreciate any help you can give.
Oh and my number port still hasn't happened..............

Well don't all rush at once
I've sorted the brightness thing - it's to do with the background picture still being selected when I added a new theme... fairly basic stuff I realise..!

For Q1)
Most PPC2003 APP compatible with PPC2002, however some of them will cause fatal error on the machine -- Such as BatteryPack 2003 5.05 (or any version earlier). The machine will never bootup after installed the 5.05 version, except a hard-reset.
Another other example that didn't work with PPC2003 is Call2Pic, but we can use PhoneExt 1.2, which is a freeware and more powerful (if only for ringtone). XDA Phone skin chooser, Double Launcher, VITO Voice Dialer PE 2.5 work too.
By the way, all games I tried are compatible with PPC2003. Almost all media player work perfectly with PPC 2003 too, except PocketMVP.
I think it is a very good percentage of compatible software for a new OS update.

Lotus EasySync Pro doesn't work.
Just a note to add to the list. EasySync Pro does NOT work under 2003. It's what forced me back to XDADev 1.1 since I have to be able to Sync with my Lotus Notes system at work.

excellent news - thanks chaps !!
I'm clearly in the presence of people that are far more knowledgable than I, and although I wouldn't claim to be a developer I do know my way round a unix box and also work with high-end music apps (unique wav files anyone?) so I'll be glad to offer any assistance I can, whilst learning the more intricate aspects of this wonderful machine...
cheers again...

Novosec Pocket Facelift works but has problems witht he skinned taskbar. sux cuz its a nice taskbar. other than that its fine.

Anyone here who stick with WM2005?

Anyone here who stick and use WM2005 and no any plan of reverting it back to 2003se? i need your opinion why do you want stick with 2005 instead of se.
Becouse some of you dont have problems running 2005 some have and i have.
Well its my first ever post on here tho ive bben lurking for a year or so.ive done all the upgrades over the last year for the XDAII and i got to say the recent WM2005 O2 version found on here is perfect.
however like all new os'S there is alway going to be something that wont work correct.but this version of WM2005 is very good, for the first time ive got MSN,OUTLOOK EMAIL,O2 EMAIL,SMS,MMS all fully working without any glitches through my mobile phone isp O2-UK.
I had patiently waited for someone to crack the RAM problem and now they have id say go for it.
one tip put the HimaClearJumpCode file from a previous rom in the same directory b4 upgrading it saves having to configure it to in bootloader screen.basically just click your mouse and following the onscreen instructions!.

I am currently using Wm2003se2.2.0.7WWE I think it is, but since it was translated from Chinese, there are a few bits that don't look right, but other than that, it's fast, supports handsfree, and is the most stable 2003se ROM I have tried out of about 3 so far.
I am very tempted to try 2005, I even downloaded it yesterday in case I feel adventurous later.
I have AS4 running on my PC already, and although avantgo doesn't work, it seems much faster.
But since you are so happy with it on a UK network, I may well give it a try later on today after some meetings are out of the way, and I have some time to kill.
I installed WM5.0 a week ago and I already know that I won't be looking back to old OSes.
It's simply the best ever (I've been using Pocket PC since 2000) so I know what I'm talking about.
I can live with the few incompatibility problems I have encountered because I know they will be fixed soon by the talented people of XDA-Developers.com. They always do.
At first I installed WM5.0 to "test it" and to see what was all the "Buzz" about... (got that? hehehe)
But since that day, I noticed how quickly Buzz, Toe, JoJo and the gang fixes the "problems" so I more o less feel complete.
The overall performance of the PDA and the Phone is impresive!
The only thing I miss from previous versions is the Video Capture quality. This one simply sucks, but I'm confident that the gang will fix this soon!
P.S.- Again, I would like to thank Buzz, Toe, JoJo, mamiach and the rest of talented people for this marvelous release!
Best regards,
Rayan
OK, so far, I love it, but there are a couple of things that are proving to be a pain for me.
1) I can't install TomTom 3, need to find some GPS software that will work by the end of this week if I am going to keep 2005 on this device.
2) I don't know if my Socket BT GPS works because I have no GPS software to test it with.
Anyone got any suggestions for UK GOS software that works?
I'm sticking with WM2005
Since I installed it I have noticed the following benifits:
Performance is noticeably improved over any 2003/2003se roms I've run.
The anoying tendency to have both the BlueTooth Headset and the built-in speaker/microphone live during a call has been resolved.
My Frogpad BT keyboard is also natively supported. Overall a great experience!
The only problem I have encountered is the tendency of the MSN messenger piece to behave oddly. It'll sign on, get presence information for people, then when I try to start a conversation it will give me the conversation screen then take about 60 seconds while it claims it is 'connecting' In addition on occasion it will come back and state that a IM could not be delivered, but if I copy and paste it back in it works. It also has decided to put my e-mail attachments on the NAND partition rather than the SD partition.
I brought these issues up with my Microsoft TAM yesterday and he laughed.... Perhaps I should not have phrased it as 'Do you think it would be OK for me to open a ticket for my non-release beta copy of WM2005 that I got over the internet?'

OK, I love this, and I would really like to keep it, but, my Stowaway XT keyboard doesn't want to work either. I know it's only a driver issue, but it's still an issue for me.
I haven't even tried the VGA backpack yet :/
after all the xda is working for my every-day needs i will stay with buzzmobile 2005
I have used the wm2005, but the big thing that bothers me is that xbackup and spb pocketplus doesn't work. (battery indicator bar at the top, I love it! I first though it was some kind of bug, but now I never want any other battery level indicator.
For tomtom3 i'm using tomtom 4.40 now (works also with wm2005).
But there is nothing more worse then a sudden hard reset, and you can't restore any contacts because xbackup doesnt work.
Also I tried almost all of the roms here, and in my opinion the diamondrom 1.2 is the best complete and stable rom around here.
As long as xbackup isnt fixed on wm2005 i can't use it. Don't want to install all kinds of backup and restore programs. After a hard reset start xbackup and make a call.

What are you talking about?
Isn't persistant memory one of Windows Mobile 5.0 main features?
I have performed a couple of Hard Resets on purpose just to see if the whole system survives and let me tell you that it works flawlessly.
I can live without Sprite Backup for the time being!!!....
I successfully upgraded to WM2005 but am unable to get the hardreset to work (the key sequence I am using is power button + record button + camera button + soft reset hole, all at the same time). I have verified that each of these buttons works individually. Any ideas what I could be doing wrong?
Also, when my xda is off, there is sometimes a pattern of faint black vertical lines on the screen which disappear when its turned on. I hadn't seen them before I upgraded to 2005.
Any help would be appreciated!
re WM2005
I found the hard reset combination quite tricky to do, took me a few tries to do it. Just hold the camera and record buttons very firmly, press the the power button and also stick the stylus in the reset hole. Keep holding the buttons for 3 seconds after you've felt the stylus nudge the reset button.
I'm using WM2005 and have found ActiveSync using GPRS to be a little less reliable than before. I have had to soft-reset 2x in the last 24hours to get GPRS working. It simply fails to connect when requested and says cannot find www.vodafone.net.nz (the APN for Vodafone NZ). When I reset it works beautifully.
Also it seems to me to be slightly slower than 2003SE. I don't know if it's the extra animations making it *appear* slower but it does feel less reponsive. Particularly opening messages and moving them. I was using 2003SE 2.06 and then 2.20-translated prior.
However, the extra ease of use that 2005 gives makes up for this by being more productive with the time I do spend on the device.
SPB Pocket Plus definitely does not work as I'd like it to and I miss the battery meter on the top bar, plus the multiple IE windows. The IE browser is much better on 2005 though and is quicker overall.
It works great with my Bluetrek G2 headset, no change in audio quality over 2003SE.
The Pocket MSN integration with Hotmail, MSN etc is amazing and very well done. If you use Hotmail and/or MSN Messenger a lot you'll love 2005.
I'm just doing some testing to see if Intellipad is losing my predictive text words. It seems like every time I soft-reset the words I manually added disappear
Intellidialer is a big loss too which I really miss. Can't wait for the 2005 port.
All in all, a good OS and major improvements, but yep a little buggy still. I'd recommend it if you don't mind soft resetting often and living with a few quirks, for the sake of improved useability and a better (in most places) interface.
My record + camera buttons don't work either in 2005 btw.
re WM2005
Forgot to mention -- RemotelyAnywhere doesn't work with Remote control either.
The ActiveX control that is designed for PocketPCs only works on PPC2002 or 2003, not 2005.
If you need to remotely control a PC or server then you will be stuck.

Been using Buz-an-Co mobile 2005 for a while now, absolutely no intention of removing at all. Fair enough somethings dont work, but on the whole, its more stable, i find it faster, BT works the way its ment to, and it looks just so cool! i sync my contacts in outlook and store all my data on the Rom OR SD-Card so i'll never actualy lose anything of importance..... AND and by far the most important reason......I can give me mates with the XDA IIi the two fingers! ahh u may have wifi but u cant get 2005 working!! )
My only serious gripe is MSN messanger not working (fixed by using Agile messanger) and Tomtom 3's total refusal to install. (on that note i was able to start the install process and just before it crashes find the cab files in a temp directory and install them manually, it installed but when you run it, it comes up with "voice files not installed, blar blar" then the program runs for a second before crashing to desktop.)

Agile messenger works a treat on WM2005, and you can connect to MSN, AOL, ICQ etc...
Apparently WM2005 is smartphone compatible, so you could try TomTom mobile, I've heard it works, but the touch-screen doesn't (as it's built for phones). Haven't tried it myself though.
I will also not go back to 2003SE.
I'm using the full version since Saturday and I have no issues at all. All my buttons work. OK, once in a while the XDA freezes and I need a softreset, but that's more likely from the applications I installed which are maybe not 100% Magneto compatible. Also, I'm still trying to get the USB syncing to work. So far I sync via bluetooth.
I love that Contacts syncs the picture from Outlook on the PC. Much better than all the picture-caller ID software.
But really best of all: I don't have to be scared of hardresets anymore and I can use the XDAII until the battery is down.
I was thinking about buying the Mini or maybe the XDA IV when it comes out later this year. But I have decided to continue using my XDAII since it is just great with Magneto.
Cheers
Pat
I am interested to see why people think that they don't have to be scared of hard resets?
The Himalaya does *not* support persistant storage, unless you choose to save something to the flash rom, or SD card, you *will* lose it after a hard reset.
The OS does not give you the safety of the new features, that's still a hardware issue, so don't think you have persistant storage because the OS supports it.
WM2005
Hi,
I have installed WM2005 and fall back to WM2003SE twice.
1st: the chinese software CEstar cause the touch screen to hang (no respond) when I install it. Reinstall the WM2005 still face the same problem, so 1st fall back to WM2003SE.
2nd: After installing the WM2005, my Spectec SDIO wifi don't seem to be able to have the transmitter on. Able to see network available but cannot connect. Tried reinstall the driver but no result. Waiting for Spectec to reply regards to the driver. So 2nd fall back to WM2003SE.
Ric
but it does support a form of persistant storage as in permenent save / storage on the old roms
not really enough though.......
and if the persistant storage of newer devices save the data in flash then could it not be troublesome in the long run since flash have a limited times you can write on it before it goes belly up
much like a cd-rw or dvd-rw disc

A lot of apps dont work with 2k5

Upgraded to 2k5 yesterday & loved it. Problem is the following apps dont work & I am pretty used to them. Some are really critical.
Apps that dont work:
Intelligolf 6.2
MS Money 2005
SPB Pocket Pus
tAgenda 1.1
Not sure what bin compatibility MS has broken with 2k5. Have people had similar experience & is there a way to get these apps to run on 2k5?
Help!
Thanx
Malhar
not sure if it's ms who changed the stk or if those programs did thing shady which is not alowed by the os anymore
but the same thing happent with 2002 to 2003 and 2003 to 2003SE ......
sooner or later new versions of used programs will surface
But a lot of software works:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=20727&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

WM5 's not better than 2003SE(for me) :(

Reasons:
1. Unable to connect ActiveSync even I am using AS 4.0.0
2. No Auto-Installation after hard-reset
3. Storage not accessible
4. Extended_ROM also not available even the ExtROM is unhided(for manual installation that software which should be auto-installed)
4. Camera settings and interface is not so good as the old version
5. Unable to restore backuped contacts from Storage
6. The main applications I am using was not better(such as Excel,Word, etc.)
7. Many other details(that I forget already)that let me thing about downgrade...
...downgrade to 2k3se v2.06 completed.
It's a big shame that it doesn't work as I have imagined.
Your opinion...?
I've used Buzz' version h for a while, and decided to switch back to WM2003 1.72 from O2 UK.
Mostly similar issues that you've experienced although I got AS4 working; camera / video no good, 2-soft-button format drives me crazy (somehow more taps required), I heard that AvantGo worked, but I always failed to do so. I also missed the persistent storage after hardreset. I also prefered xbackup, which couldn't work, rather than sunnysoft.
I didn't like 1.75 either, so I'm content with 1.72; it works best for me.
Just 1 question
The v1.72/v1.75 are 2003SE? Or 2003 simply? The v2.06 I am using is quite lazy/slow and therefore I am thinking about one more step to downgrade.
1.72 and 1.75 are not SE
Tomas, you really should have known about those problems before installation. It would have saved you a lot of fuking around .
As most of those problems you mentioned being fixable, I find even 1.50f to be very stable. I use my device in a busy office environment for mostly productivity tasks ie- outlook/contacts,w0rd, bt & wifi with no problems whatsoever. In my opinion BUZZMobile2005 rocks.
Im sure if you persist a little more and look past the small negatives you will find bm2005 better than all previous roms combined.
anways, cheers.

Yes. Anyone is able to adjust himself to anything. I will just wait for a while until these problems will be fixed(or until some solution will appeared). Yes I know that the new version should be much better than the old one but WM5 is at this time with all of this bugs nothing for me. As I wrote:It's a shame.

WM6 ROM Cooking

OK... so this is the fun stuff.
I've dumped the WM6 ROM, since everything's on DoC this should all go swimmingly in terms of putting it back together.
so... since there's a plethora of WM6 ROMs for other devices, what existing stuff shall we build a ROM with for now?
For the first go, I'd personally like to see mrvrealvga integrated as well as humanly possible into the ROM. As well as basic performance tweaks and utilities.
Otherwise, vanilla as hell. Only include things that are nearly universally used.
Example: I don't use TomTom and neither do lots of other folks. Why waste the space.
Example: I do use MS VoiceCommand and it seems like some ROMs do a good job of integrating it. I would love that, but if others don't, then scratch that.
Keep the first one mean and lean.
My thoughts.
I second wgary's comments to the wants and not wants.
NICE waited long time now let the cooking begin :
Mouse driver from mobidock (important!!)
trueVGA interegated with the files (vijays big phone and other trueVGA files)
HTC touchFLUO files interegated (that will make it to scroll to in any menu and page)
HTC audio manager (VGA)
SMS backup
Batterystatus 1.04
Ofiice 2007 for WM6
Clear storage
some tweaks (to make it fatser like GDI tweaks, storage cache tweaks)
HTC today audio plugin (from htc touch)
all the functions of WM6 intact but if microsofts voice is taken away i find it good because it never works!! need the files or cabs i have them solet me know!!
RE: Office 2007.
Yeah, that would be great and all... but ONLY if it can be integrated without being a space hog. Sounds like bloat-a-rama.
You have 256MB of ROM, plus 8gigs on the hard drive, what's to complain?
As you requested, i'm trying to stick to things that have already been done so you can come out with a quick and easy and OPTIMIZED ROM.
- Safe Mode functionality built into the ROM.
- Fix trueVGA...but not sure how much of it has been fixed other than the dialer and a few other things. Not 100% so you may want to wait on this.
- All black ROM that works in both VGA and trueVGA modes? This already exists and may be easily done. Here is an existing one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=314263&highlight=buttonflo
- Maybe Palm Threader for SMS threading?
- I would like a ROM with this look for my Athena, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=311225 , all files should be available to make it easier on you if you decide to go this route. I really don't care for the today screen look but the phone and comm manager look nice. Just don't like the wallpaper. Needs to be just black without the texture used.
- TouchFlo aka ButtonFlo feature. We discussed this before and it looks like someone already came out with it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=314031&highlight=buttonflo

I have been using nbextract to obtain the .nb files. Where I can change the version of the operative system -I mean it is in the G4 or where?

YES! Please remote the built in dialer. I don't know anyone that uses it.
I use it! Because I drive and I use a BT adapter, PLUS I am italian and I would like to use a voice system having in MY language my contacts.
I record my contacts and I call using voice dial
Personally i prefer Cyberon Voice Commander to MS Voice Command - seems to recognise me better!
I think the Office 2007 updates should be in there, plus WM Storage, plus jetware extensions (although not sure how youd handle registration), oh and WiFiFoFum would be cool to fine hotspots.

I think ltxda's list is very good starting point. (other than I don't care about MvrTrue Vga) on my Universal I really only used with IE or Opera and now with their new scaling options, I really don't need true vga or its inherent issues.
I would also prefer MS Voice Command, and have cyberon completed removed or as an addon. I like MS voice command even better than the complete cyberon.
I will suggest to have a a look of to the new HTC_USA x7501 rom, may be it has new DLLs and faster drivers..
HTC Kaiser add-ins
Here's my request -
The new HTC add-ins from HTC Kaiser:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=316107
HTC Homeplug with additional tab
HTC 3G Dialpad with Video call
HTC 9 button commanager
Also, would be nice if it including the fixed HTC Audio Manager with correct track order (doe anyone know if this is available yet?)
VGA QVGA!
Hi Oli great work you've been doing already. I'd love to see the today screen in VGA so I can finally have all my info on one page without scroll but I'd like a way to set individual programs to default to QVGA when I start them
ie. a sat nav program such as iGo8 which I'd have to install afterwards.

Some new Athena user questions

Hey everyone,
I've been using a WM device for 2 years, a good and old KJAM and now the X7500. As you may have seen in my previous post, I'm going to use the X7500 as a UMPC together with my KJAM. I don't plan to ditch the KJAM, as I'm going to keep using it as my PDA and phone. The main purposes of the X7500 would be browsing (WIFI or HSDPA), watching movies, gaming and maybe some document editing.
I have to say, that I got lost trying searching and reading posts around here, and there seem to be a lot of confusion about many things, so I'm gonna ask some questions that I couldn't find one straight updated answer for. I know that these questions have been asked a lot of times, but as I said, there wasn't any clear answer for them (hopefully there is now).
1. I need a good, fast and reliable WM6/WM6.1 ROM. I don't need many features, just simple and as fast as possible. What do u recommend? By the way, if I flash another ROM will it change my device ID? I have bought a program that is registered to that specific device, and by changing the ID that program won't work.
2. BT mouse. how good does it work with the Athena? Will it slow down the system? Will it work with any program (esp. browsers)? How about connecting a USB mouse through the 4-in-1 cable, would it work?
3. Browser. We have a great device, amazing screen but I feel that no browser is good enough for it. I don't want anything fancy, but I want it to be fast and support tabbed browsing. Opera mini is fast enough, but it lacks an option to browse with XX% zoom out permanently like Opera, Netfront or even IE. All of the above are pretty good by the way, but they are simply too slow. Actually, I don't get that. Why are they so slow browsing with WIFI or 3.5G? Opera mini does the job faster, my desktop with the same connection does it faster, what's causing their lag? I found out that browsing through my desktop with LOGMEIN from the X7500 is even faster (but annoying).
Any browser that will hit the spot? Any way to speed things up?
4. Task manager. I want a program that will give me the multi-tasking capability of a desktop PC without slowing down the device. basically I need instant access to all the open programs in the same way the taskbar works on Windows. If the program will give me the option to choose whether to minimize or close a window, it would be better.
5. Printer. Can I plug a USB printer, or can I use only network/BT printers with the device?
6. Any other tips of-course would me most welcomed.
I hope you had the patience to read all of those questions, and maybe even more patience to answer them. Thanks a lot to everyone around here....
best rom? athena project 3. cannot be beaten. ther's a rule on here where theres no posting of roms allowed except project kitchen. This rom is made by people working all day on it, and a new version is released like every 3 months. because thats how long it takes to make it perfect. Im fairly sure the new one is being released this week. but dont quote me on that.
You named all the browsers anyone would suggest, so I cant really recommend anything.
For taskbar id say use wisbar if you need loads of features and skinnable taskbar along with cascading start menu like real windows, or wktask for just sortof tabbed taskbar. wktask is embedded into the rom I mentioned.
hope this helps

First of all, thanks a lot for your comment. I don't really understand what you mean by no ROM postings allowed around here. If I want a lighter ROM than Athena Project, and afraid to cook myself one, I'm out of luck? nobody can even publish their cooked versions of the AP ROMs?
There is no rule like that at all.
If you decide to cook a ROM, feel free to post it. The Athena Project do some great work, but they don't own these public forums.
i dont want to argue about it , but if that's the case, then why is there only one cooked rom avalable? plus check the sticky called proj ct kitchen to see where i got the impression that you cant.

1) I will suggest PK3.0 as the fastest IMHO, we are waiting the new WM6.1 (4.0 release) The .NET re-designed will improve the speed as is happening in many other ROMs. We are waiting also the results of the Athena Team tuning: wait the WM6.1 may be in the next week.
I have increased the speed using MEMMAID, (www.dinarsoft.com) as mantainance and optimizzation tool. The rom's speed depends only from chef choices for the first start but later is related to many other things. Manteinance is the best way to keep it fast
1b) Device ID changed? may be not, we will see...
2) I use a wired optical mouse and it works just as is supposed to do
3) opera 9.5 is fast, the beta is out and it is finger friendly and fast . Netfront 3.5 is fast too, I chose Opera
4) wktask is part of PK rom, you can download it here http://soft.photoracer.net/docs/wktask_en.html and it does exactly what you need
5) Yes, BT or network, having jetcet print
ROM cooking is free and WELCOMED here!

There are a couple of others floating around if you search hard enough.
But the Athena Project roms are so good, everyone seems to use them.
fair enough mate. I have been reading the athena forums for abut 3 months, and never seen any other rom... theres so few posts daily, im sure I would have noticed

This is the 6.1 porting from Kaiser I think.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=363542
I think a lot of the browser slowness is down to windows mobile itself. Not sure why. Even the Opera Mini Java midlet is faster on the Symbian OS than on Windows Mobile. Netfront and Opera 9.5 are big improvements on what was available last year though, and Opera will no doubt have a few tweaks before its official release. No Flash or Java add-ons though still
Apparently someone has already managed to play youtube with Opera. Not sure if it is true as he has not responded to request for the cab file yet.
edit: This gentleman gave an update. He had earlier managed to make it work by editing the axobjects.ini file to effect the following changes:
[Shockwave Flash]
CLSID={EB8B5B8E-EDB9-4180-9E2E-F8F1632DC171} #FlashLite RAC;/\\ (M
Alias={D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000} #Flash (desktop)
Description=Macromedia Flash Player 7.0 Y8jt_XD;Z
FileExtents=swf|spl|flv
MIMEType = application/x-shockwave-flash|application/futuresplash I_hAgk 04
FileOpenName=Adobe Flash movie (*.swf)|FutureSplash movie (*.spl)|Adobe Flash Paper (*.mfp)|Adobe Flash Paper (*.flv)
Allow=Url|Embed|Object|Scripts
He had posted some screen capture of his earlier success, but found that subsequently it stopped working mysteriously. Anyway, he also said that he is sure when FL3 (instead of Flash player 7) is avaialble this would work.
The trouble is, will adobe release a FL3 for winmo platform...
Edit:
The above works. Make sure you have installed flash player 7 and make the above edit to the ini file.

It's very jerky though. Still better off with the flash plugin. There's an application called EMTube on Symbian devices, would be nice to see it on winmo as it allows access to all the youtube Videos at high quality without loading up the browser at all. There's the Vtap application but that always seemed a bit stodgy to me.
On the subject of Fl3.0 you may have a long wait yet - it's still only been integrated into the N95 8gb, don't know what Adobe are playing at with the rollout for this - it was released as a developers' testing package over five months ago, at this rate someone's going to develop a workaround that screws them over: I HOPE AND PRAY!
That's why there was no excitement in my post. It's not really watchable.
I would still prefer to use PIE with TCPMP to download it first then watch it.
Hello,
I have been using the HTC WM6 ROM HERE and its been great. I wanted a basic ROM with no whistles and bows to get used to the device. Mine had the T-Mobile ROM on, nothing wrong with it but the phone dialer and theme are awful in my view. I tried both opera and net 3.5 and both show great promise, but they aren't ready yet. I ended up just getting one of the IE addon's that hanango do, fine for now. interesting to hear about the things you can use through the USB port. Ive been using the universal and stuff like that doesn't work on it. I think I need to go back and read up more!
Take care
Jay
