AIM 2/ PPC2002 - "Not valid to run on this device ?&quo - MDA, XDA, 1010 General

Hi all,
I just tried to load the new AIM for PPC2002 on my SER 1.2 XDA and it installed fine, but when trying to run it - it said it was not valid to run on the device..
Has anyone else seen this ??

Yes. In fact, I saw it on the new 4.00.16 T-Mobile ROM. It has the program installed (in 'Program Files' even), but it doesn't work giving the same message, and there's no link to it in 'Programs' either.

Keep in mind this is a US T-Mo software upgrade. The version of AIM that comes with it is for US T-Mo only. It checks your SIM card ID and if you are on any other network other than US T-Mo it will not run. You can do a search online to get the Old AIM client for PPC or you can buy the new one they both work since they are not specific to T-Mo version. I don't know why this is other than this software is avail for download off their website and anyone could get it for free since AOL has now decided to sell it and released a newer full client that also deos AOL Mail.
Hmm another thought is since its in ROM you might be able to overwrite all the .dlls in the \windows\ dir with the .dlls that are in the older version or maybe overwritting the listed files that are diff between 40011 & 40016 with blank text files with same name and changed file ext. This would however require you to remove the T-mo apps from start up incase it looks for any of these files durring start up. There's always a way unless devices stop thinking in x&o/1&0's.
Easy path just find th eold one it's online some where.

New SoftBank Open Access Point Password Problem Workaround - Not Working!

i think most of you x01ht users in japan are aware that softbank issued a new rom update that has the new open.softbank.ne.jp password hard-coded as part of the rom image and so there's no way to extract it via extended rom or otherwise (it's not in the preconfig cabs/xmls either). they've also announced that after april 1, the old password which most of in japan are currently using will no longer work so we either upgrade to the new softbank rom or we can't access the open network.
anyway, i've been fiddling with this all night and i think i have a solution that i've tested on a couple of different roms but i'm hoping you guys can give it a try as well so that we can call this a solution to the problem. basically, i made the assumption that the password was somewhere hidden and encrypted in the registry though i had no idea where so basically all i did was do a registry dump with a clean install of the new sb rom, went into connections and deleted the softbank connection, then did another registry dump. finally, i did a compare of the before and after using windiff, figured out what changed and i ended up with the attached two reg files. one adds "SoftBank" as one of the connections (hklm.reg) and the other is the encrypted password (hkcu.reg). you need to import these using the registry plug-in that comes with resco explorer (just dl the trial) as that's what i used and it seemed to work. also, after you do the imports, MAKE SURE you power off (not reset) and then power back on. sometimes the registry settings don't stick if you simply reboot.
to really verify this works, you should first go in and delete your existing SoftBank connection in settings->connections tab->connections->manage existing connections (under internet). if you're not confident then go ahead do a backup beforehand or you can just run the sb extended rom again if you can't get it to work. i've tried this with the sb rom as well as an i-mate rom and it's working perfectly...i'll test it with a couple other tomorrow as well. if this works for you guys, i'll go ahead and make it into a cab file.
update: okay, i've gone ahead and made it into a cab so you don't have to muck around with importing reg files. so just download the cab if you want to run a simple cab install. the zip file contains the reg files if you want to manually import yourself. i've tested both and they work fine. again, i must emphasize that you power off after installing it and not just soft reset. try it out and let me know.
FOR THOSE OF YOU DOING CLEAN INSTALLS:
i didn't realize this but when you do a clean install, you still have to install a couple of the sb extended roms before you run my cab. specifically, you need to run PP_ConnVKK_1.33.761.1.CAB and Provisioning.exe to set up the device to even be able to accept the new password/settings. run PP_ConnVKK_1.33.761.1.CAB first and then Provisioning.exe...now once you run provisioning.exe, you'll find that it automatically creates the old SoftBank connection for you under internet->manage existing connections with the OLD password. go ahead and delete this connection, reboot (optional) and then run my cab (new sb settings.cab). power down and up again and it should work.
just to be sure i did a file compare of the [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Comm\RasBook\SoftBank] "Entry" and "DevCfg" keys/entries with the old SoftBank setting active and with the new SoftBank settings active and the file compare showed that the contents were completely different. i was worried that maybe somehow the system was just somehow reviving the old password and not actually using the new one but this does not appear to be the case.
UPDATE:
after some more experimenting, it seems that the cab just restores the sb connection with whatever username/pass that you had installed previously. if you delete the the new opensoftbank username connection and then run the cab, it restores the opensoftbank username/password. if you delete the old "open" username connection, it restores that. very strange since the file compare shows that this registry dump (taken from new rom with new settings) is significantly different than a dump taken from a rom with the old settings yet it is somehow restoring the old settings. thanks for looking into this but for now, i think we have to say that this isn't working. so it seems that password is not simply stored in the registry. it must be in some hidden file that this registry dump somehow activates. in any case, i'll keep working over the coming weeks. sorry for getting everyone's hopes up.
Wow, I think that is great news for every Softbank customer!
Thanks it worked for me. I guess I will find out in April if it will work. I will cross my fingers.
Great job!!
You are the man! Great!!
thanks for checking! are you saying you're unsure if the file actually contains the NEW password and not the old one? well, it's definitely the new password as i created these files using only the new rom, a reg editor and a file compare tool so the old password never entered the picture.
you can actually run this exercise yourself and just repeat the steps i did if you want to be sure as the methodology is pretty simple. all i did was find where the encryped passwd was stored in registry and just imported it over to a different rom as is, encryption in tact. i've made no attempt to hack the actual passwd--we still have no idea what it is but as long as we can use the new settings, finding out what the passwd actually is unnecessary.

i haven't tried this yet, but if it works for you using the new ap opensoftbank now, i believe you don't have to wait until april to see if it'll work. those who've already upgraded theirs to the new rom should be using that new ap already.
i must try this myself later today.
trialdei, thanks for the great work.
that is indeed a great news, I was also wondering how to find this in the registery but was not sure that the different key I found were the correct ones. I will try on my other Hermes tonight and we shall see ! But the very promissing point here is that potentially I can even use these files for my universal and the mteor... which means... if you don't like the crap of the SB roms... just buy a WM5 device everywhere U want and put these regkeys !!!
Good job Man !!!
Yes this is great news, I think we might still need the password to use the phone as a modem connected to a notebook.
I think that is exactly what softbank does not want us users using the connection for since we would use the internet more.

actually, i don't think you need to enter the password on the pc side at all to use the phone as a modem. check this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sho...etooth+set+TyTN+to+be+discoverable#post987712
how about us with new sb rom... i don't see any wireless modem application on my phone... do you have a cab file for the wireless modem app alone?. i can't find it from ftp...
guys,
softbank is blocking the modem usage with a pc and it seems that's controlled at their open ap. i don't believe that's anything to do with the password nor the applications you use. you can fire up dun on your pc with x01ht connected via usb or bt, but the connection will fail.

i think you're probably right but then i wonder what's the point of establishing the new password in the first place if the modem usage isn't an issue for them either way? all of the x01ht's making their way to hk and abroad aren't going to be used on the sb network anyway. the new read-only radio rom takes care of simlocking already so the new passwd solves what? they just don't like the idea of people running around with foreign language roms accessing their network?

i think they don't want people without the flat rate data tariff contract to use the open ap to cap the monthly pay. there are quite a few people in japan who just had the vodafone contract and running universal or hermes bought from elsewhere.
now that i have your registry solution for the new password, i cannot resist testing it on my universal. if it works, i don't have to retire my universal after april 1. thanks again.

great job, trialdei. i have not tried this yet, but i will not have to give up a2dp if this works with the docomo rom!! many thanks!
i'm a newbie on this topic softbank open access.
so what is the main purpose of having this option available for the user.
is it allow the user to have the internet access over the softbank network.
and also if possible, please guide where i can find addititional softbank open access setup instruction, besides the information is already provided by trialdie's original post on this string.
please advice.
found the existing thread on softbank open access (unlock softbank x01ht thread). got the answer from there.
great!
this is great! i was having problems with the new sb rom and asukal's mui... i can't seem to get any network signal or even passthrough connections with that combination..
i'll try this one with the new htc rom from south africa, it may work for me.
great work dude!
no connection appears even after importing the reg with docomo rom... i will try it again when i have more time.

hi qtotter,
you need to make sure your registry settings are sticking...did you power off/on. the below new registry keys/entries should show up if you did it right:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Comm\RasBook\SoftBank]
"Entry"
"DevCfg"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\ConnMgr\Providers\{7C4B7A38-5FF7-4bc1-80F6-5DA7870BB1AA}\Connections\SoftBank]
"ConnectionGUID"
"SecureLevel"
"Secure"
"AlwaysOn"
"RequirePw"
"Enabled"
"EntryType"
"DestId"
if you don't see these new keys/entries then your registry changes aren't sticking.

First time upgrading- please provide input!!!

Ok gang i have been lurking around for a while and im finally deciding to upgrade my phone. for my short background, i have done this on my old magician (once) and a friends t-mobile magician (once) as well, but now i want all the new gadgets and speed for my hermes. for the record i am currently a Cingular/ATT customer living in Orlando, FL where there is great 3G coverage.
here is what i have:
herm100
ipl 1.01
spl 1.06
ROM version 1.34.502.1
ROM date 09/21/06
Radio version 1.16.00.00
Protocol version 32.53.70.18.01H (i am not sure what this one means though...)
here is what i am planning to do (in the exact order of which i will run them so if my order isnt right please tell me):
HTC_Hermes_SIM_CID_Unlock_v3a
Hard-SPL-V7.rar package
HERM_Radinly_1.43.00.00_CustomRUU.rar (unless anyone thinks the 46 or 47 version would be better for ATT in my area)
Hermes_WM6_WWE_vp3G_v2.0_ATT.rar
CVSD_1.2_061226.rar
HomePlugIn_1.6.0.0.rar
vp3G_v2.0_CommManager.rar *edit* (yes i know the comm manager must be closed for this one too) *edit*
vp3G_v2.0_StreamingMedia_PATCH.rar
XM_Radio.rar (may install this later)
MobiTV .rar (may install this later)
TCPMP_v0.72RC1.exe
ac3.plugin.0.72RC1.rar
flac.plugin.0.72RC1.rar
ffmpeg.plugin.0.72RC1.rar
vorbislq.plugin.0.72RC1.rar
and that should be it i hope!!!! also, i think i remember needing a codec to play xvids through tcpmp but i cannot find anything that i have archived on my computer... so if anyone has that please let me know.
if there are any other precautionary measures that i can take PLEASE let me know. i 'somewhat' understand how the hardspl works, is that the only protection i have? should i clear up my phones memory? i doubt there is anything like a 'scandisk' or anything for the type of memory the phone uses but i just want to be 1000000% sure that this flash will be successful thats all. thanks guys up front for a great community and any help is GREATLY appreciated.
yeah, do HardSPLv7 first... Then do the Unlocker... then do whatever you want.

No do the unlocker first...it loads HardSPL (1.40.oli) onto the device....it will downgrade the SPL if you run it second.
Once that is done...load HardSPLv7 onto it.
Then follow the list you said.
great!! i just wanted to verify that my particular build (i know there are herm100, 200 and 300 now) would fit the bill.
few more quick q's...
if i ever wish to, can this phone be put back to factory settings and be completely untraceable, or am i making permanent changes to the spl?
also as far as i am aware, overclocking is not available (hopefully i can use the word 'yet' here ) for my device is this correct?
lastly- without outlook (on my computer), is there any way to back up my contacts. not just the sim card, i mean email addresses and everything? i am sure there are some encrypted files somewhere on the device that i can just manually copy and paste when i am done.
and after that, ill be flashing it all over and post the results.. and thanks both of you for the quick responses!!! i will do the unlocker first, thanks for deterring me from that hiccup

OK.....i will answer these qs but you do need to read the wiki so you DEFINATLY understand the different aspects of the hermes...
The device can be downgraded to normal (like factory settings)....see the guides in my sig for more info.
Overclocking....dont even bother...the restriction is in the ROM....later ROMs use the cpu much better.
If you want to backup contacts etc...either use PIMBackup (search this forum for it) or get an exchange account which will sync contacts/emails/tasks etc..
the IPL is still 1.01, can this be upgraded or does it not make a difference?
ok i am trying to run Hard-SPL-V7...
when i run the file 'RUUWrapper' on my mobile device i get this message:
"File or assembly nme 'System, Version 2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=B77A5C561934E089,' or one of its dependancies, was not found."
I just installed microsoft.net framework 2.0
from what the previous screens told me, the SIM and CID unlock was successful and my current IPL is 1.4 from using the programs in 'HTC_Hermes_SIM_CID_Unlock_v3a.rar'
please help!!!!!
**edit**
Sorry, that is when i try to run it from the phone itself. when i run it on the computer it says 'The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). Click on OK to terminate the application.

You need to install ALL the latest .net framework packages from Microsoft on your PC, the file is meant to run on your pc NOT your hermes.
you guys are the best and so is this site!!!
last question...
i downloaded the 'vp3G's WM6 v2.0' ROM and added the patch for 'vp3G_v2.0_StreamingMedia_PATCH.cab ' but i still cannot watch videos on youtube or any site of the likes? the page gives me an error saying 'Hello, you either have Javascript turned off or an old version of Macromedia's Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player.'
i cannot find java or macromedia that works on windows mobile... what can i use??? i am finding some stuff on javaME but nothing i can comprehend or download...
lol, when I tried to do the Unlocker first it temp-bricked my phone.. I had to reflash old rom, then run hardspl then the unlocker in that order.
Use google and search for 'Flash Player for Pocket PC'
it will give you the link to Adobe Flash Player

ROM upgrade success after a big issue ...

Hi folks,
Although I am generally not timid about modding certain products (such as my computers and TiVo), I do like to first take my time before diving in until I'm sure I've read most of the relevant threads and have gathered up the complete suite of software tools in one place. The resources on this site and the work of folks such as DCD and nueChem are amazing and outstanding and I want to say thanks for that.
As of yesterday, I felt read to take the plunge installing the bootloader, 3.27 radio ROM and DCD 2.3.2 kitchen build on my XV6800. However, I didn't just go with the stock kitchen. I added a couple of additional OEM packages from Alex.Kaiser.v4.OEM.Packages (the nue LED and audioparam packages and Resco File Explorer 2007 in particular).
The updating went great and I was able to OTA reprogram my phone without needing to call Verizon. However, I noticed that something wasn't right.
First, my phone had no connection data onboard so the phone didn't know to dial #777 for a data link and my attempts to enter this manually didn't give me any success.
Second, my PC wouldn't see the device unless I deselected the "advanced network features" (or similar, I forget the exact wording) checkbox.
Third, I couldn't install CAB files. They'd terminate immediately with an "installation was unsuccessful" message.
Finally, once I was able to establish a connection to the PC, I could add and remove files from the device *only* from the PC. Attempts to delete files from the device itself were met with a file permissions error.
After playing around for a while trying every tweak I could think of, I tried using Resco Explorer and, after a few minutes, got a registration code error/warning message. This made me wonder if this package was the problem: preventing certain types of file access due to it being in a limited-functionality mode from lack of a proper reg code.
So, I rebuilt the ROM without it and now all is well! I'm loving the new dialer and comm manager as well as the active GPS (I've tested it only with Google Maps and GPSToday so far and it gets to within half a block). Not sure how well EV-DO Rev A is working yet. I tethered the phone and ran an online speed check, obtaining 1.2Mbps download but only 60kbps upload. It's possible this is related to my local coverage (Nyack, NY), so I'll try this again from a known-good Rev A area.
Anyway, just wanted to relay my experience in case it proved useful to anyone.
One other thing: I used PIM Backup to backup my data beforehand since my sycing is generally done on my work machine and I was doing the ROM updating from home. Upon restore, it wouldn't restore my email messages because it didn't find the corresponding account. So, it's important to note that this account info isn't backup up and that you first need to create the account before doing the restore step (making sure to name the account the same as before so that it matches up).

Storage card installation coming in next version!
http://windowsteamblog.com/blogs/wmdev/archive/2010/02/15/marketplace-momentum.aspx
*************************************************
I dont understand.. is this a fix so the apps will be installed on your storage card instead of on the device?
Here is the latest cab file (v1.2.1422.0001)
I editted it so that it can be installed to storage card
Marketplace_1.2.1422.0.cab = original
Marketplace_sc_1.2.1422.0.cab = edited
the first version is original official ms cab
the second version is an editted version i made of the original so it runs off storage card instead of device

My one is the official cab
I was planning on checking SD card installation this weekend.
So Thanks a lot
And for the information around where did you find the switch to SD?
(did a comparison of the two versions and registr settings but found nothing to be pointing to the SD install change)
Also the Aman version that downloaded the rest of the needed files, after downloading those files, was still started through the old Marketplace.exe.
Does this version do it's jiggy without that old .exe?
Looks like it has a minimum need for .Net 3.5 Mobile.
this is the new version that amans downloads - that way you dont need his cab
aku reg change lets some users access marketplace (found in thread here somewhere but not in the cabs)
all i did to the cab was change the hardcoded install location (from \windows to %InstallDir%\Program Files)
Re-Write
What i meant was that The new market place does not create any shortcuts to itself.
So in the previous case WMMarketplace.exe would start WMMarketplaceFullClient.exe.
So if a user that never had WMMarketplace.exe, how would it ever start up WMMarketplaceFullClient.exe, besides going to windows folder and making the shortcut themselves as the cabs you posted do not make the links.
So in that case all that is needed is just a shortcut.
Pretty cool if all it takes to get SD install is installing it "Not into Windows"
ahhh, i see, will have to update (unless someelse can do it)
essentially it is: change install location and values for registry
shall have to add icon (which starts fullclient)
you need to select storage card as your install location. %instaldir% is like a wildcard and enables installing to storage card
Here they are then with the shortcuts, And added the Enable Widgets registry for supported devices just in case.
Now Back to work it's Coffee time
What i thought (and am interested into getting to work), is forcing the App store, to install Apps Store Apps to SD card and i thought that was what you meant.
Bummer, but that still leaves a little Chalenge to the next guy.
Also installing your/this _SC version gave me the US shop, instead of the NL shop i had forced upon me before.
And running the still installed to Memory (Downloaded by Aman's Cab) Previous Version will give me the NL shop.
Update:
Cabs have been moved to first post.
hmmm, i didnt check that. im in australia. im guessing it is one of the reg strings that do it (possibly one of the **** ones i posted - i copied them from another thread incase they are different for each user so thats prob why it is us shop)
i had a quick look for download location but nothing stood out so when i have time, i hope to find something. the thing is, it deletes cab files after installing them
can't be the registry strings as i can run both localized stores on one device.
So it might be there are actually different Cabs for different Locations.
I'll be moving your Thread to Dev And Hacking, as general get's less attention to check this localisation "Problem" (cool neat Feature) out.
hmmm...well since the second cab is derived from the first, that is strange
i used the reg entries from here for teh sc cab:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4683349&postcount=8153
Code:
"DeviceGuid"="c10b3661-WWWW-WWWW-WWWW-WWWWWWWWWW"
"DevicePuid"="0018BFFD804FXXXX"
"FedDocURLChkDate"=hex:00,00,40,0C,A9,B2,D2,41
those were the only different to my device
plus, im in australia, not us
Hmm, might have been a glitch in the MS appstore itself.
I am now no longer able to get the other US/AUS store.
Razzum frazzum..
Update:
Re installing the Cab again gave me the English Shop again.
So you are right it is related to the Reg's.
But these somehow get reset.
I don't have the time ATM to fully check out what is going on.
But if it is just the registry settings changing my Locale for the Shop, it should be fairly easy to make a locale switcher.
(i don't think i have US store as there's only 46 apps in there)
Yup running WMMarketplace.exe (The old one instead of the FullClient.exe) with an active GSM connection will change the ID to:
c183d069-WWWW-WWWW-WWWW-WWWWWWWWWWWW
For NL Region apps.
And
"DevicePuid"="0018BFFD804FXXXX"
"FedDocURLChkDate"=hex:00,00,40,0C,A9,B2,D2,41
Don't get Changed
The first Cab only had:
Code:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Security\Software\Microsoft\Marketplace]
"BootStrapInstalledPath"="\\Windows\\WMMarketplaceFullClient.exe"
"MarketInstallLocation"="\\Windows\\WMMarketplaceFullClient.exe"
I'm in the UK, and actually have a proper official WM6.5 device, running the OEM's rom.
DeviceGUID is 5c08e32a-WWWW-WWWW-WWWW-WWWWWWWWWWWW
However, I'm not convinced that the Locale is in there, not if they stick to their own rules. That SHOULD just be your devices unique ID.
We need 2 phones in the same locale to compare.
I put in your Device ID disconnected GSm and went in trough Wifi.
Now i have 52+ apps in the Store (can't see if this is actually Uk but it's different/more then the Previous asumed Australian one)
Could be that a part of the Device ID is used for the Locale though.
Could also be that their Servers remember the last Locale used by that Device ID and then present that shop to the device.
But second time i log back into marketplace (MarketPLaceFullClient.exe on SD) with GSM on i still get the same 52+ app store.
Time for some good old "Break and Testing".
I used
5c08e32a-WWWW-WWWW-WWWW-WWWWWWWWWW
As DeviceGuid
And i then got a new DeviceGuid assigned,
c685ebe2-WWWW-WWWW-WWWW-WWWWWWWWWW
And i can still see the (now correctly counted) 56 Apps Store version as oposed to the 4 Apps NL version i get starting it through The old Marketplace.exe.
WTFrag i just Found Microsoft Office Mobile Listed for 31,19 Pounds!!
Dunno if its of any interest (or if I am just plain dumb ), but test changing your locale (regions)...
I changed from Swedish to English (US) and all of the sudden I had s**tload of apps to choose from... I connected through wifi though, havent tested GPRS yet.

Reaper OS v6.66 Windows Mobile 6.5 Pro ROM - TNZ

I thought if i built it, why not share it.
This is a fully working Windows Mobile 6.5 Rom for the HTC Titan / Mogul 6800 .
Youll probably need to update your SPL (unlock) with a bootloader like nueSPL v2.4 and most likely need to flash a newer radio i.e. 3.27+
The windows mobile build is 28232 (The Latest)
Carrier is only Telecom NZ however i may build other carriers at later stages.
(To get the camera to work, rename HTCCamera.exe to Camera.exe in \windows\ folder overwriting the orginal)

Hi, thanks a lot for this ROM.
I have a HTC Mogul Titan V6800
My company is Iusacell (in this moments is a problem it's bad, broad band is limited to 128Kb if you download o use 3Gb of data, etc)
I can´t activate the camera (copy HTCCamera is not functionality) when execute camera.exe then launch camera but black screen show me, then I need reset my HTC.
My txt msg is preserve after the reset.
Memory is good (with activesync 25.41MB, without 25.77MB), the IE is good , no problems at the moment with the memory (memory low, of course "at the moment" jejeje)
Active sync is launch automatic when I don't connect to my pc, it is not good because consume battery and memory
I can´t execute ##778# (qepst) to access to my configuration
No games
Is general stable, data and voice is ok
Attach some screen shots
see you
Txt msg issue
this is one of the best roms i've used but i'm still having txt msg issues. i've done a hard reset few times and it does not resolve it, everything else works fine...pls can you assist
This does work for verizon - install attached file.
By default, it is setup for Telecom NZ, but it you run the attached DCD Verizon carrier.cab file and reboot your phone, it will work for Verizon.
Bigger Dialer
Also, I found a large button dialer for WM6.5 Here it is:
In regards to faults
I've given up my binge on pocket pcs for a while... but here is to my knowledge of the faults that have been discussed.
*please note* i'm unsure about any of the txting issues as i didn't have mine connected to a network (though this rom was built with Telecom NZ Carrier, I never used it)

To the person who upped the screenshots thanks!
In regards to the camera. To my memory, yes, i don't think you can just copy this file. I think i either just renamed it in \windows\ to camera.exe overwriting the original, or copied it out to my desktop, renamed it, then copied it back.
If all else fails use a program like 'Total Commander' to force overwrite it.
Once you do get HTCCamera.exe replacing the original camera.exe it will work.
""Active sync is launch automatic when I don't connect to my pc, it is not good because consume battery and memory""
This never happened for me...
""I can´t execute ##778# (qepst) to access to my configuration""
Sorry, i never tested the codes.
