XDA GSM error after upgrading to WM2003 - MDA, XDA, 1010 General

Hi all,
i've got a slight problem with my XDA. After updating to WM 2003 (4.00.16) my GSM (3.23) seens to be broken...
It woked for a while and then out of nowhere. My XDA now wont boot. Th good news is that i can go into the bootloader.
What can i do now? Where can i get a good WM2002 image to put onto my SD Card? I'd appreciate any help!!!

Dear Fabi,
I know it might not be the suitable question, but could you plz tell the exact steps you did that led you to this situation. This is to allow you to get precise help, and to be a learned lesson for the rest of us, coz I was about to upgrade from 3.25 to 4.00.16 but prefered to ask first.
Don't worry, the guys here are way clever and I 'm sure you will get the help very soon ... TKR

Nooo problem. I was about to Sync my XDA via USB Cradle and noticed that my backlight was turned off. Also my Phone was searching for a Network (now I know why... ). So I thought it might be good to reset that thing..... *aghhhrrrr* That was a big mistake. After the reset I saw the boot screen and the backlight blinking twice. That was all. My Bootloader (5.15) says "GSM Error"... now I'm without Mobile Phone for a while :?

so in other words, 4.00.16 was OK but you screwed up the XDA by just doing a reset while the backlight was off ?? ... I 'm afraid I don't get it :?

Confirming you used the SD card method to upgrade, right!
Also what radio band is or was your XDA set to before the upgrade?
HTH

No I didn't use SD Card to update my XDA. I used The ROM-Kitchen to generate a exe and updated over USB cradle.
Im running my MDA (i don't have a XDA ) on a german GSM 1800. Eplus. It was always set to this option and I never even tried to change it.
@biso007:
I screwed my MDA because I did a reset. Thats right. But I had some backlight issues in the past few days after upgrading. The backlight sometimes turned off and there was no chance to get it back on... only a reset. I first thought the proplem occured again yesterday but then i saw that my MDA was looking for network. After resetting the GSM part was dead....!
So back to my problem. I now ordered a SD Card Reader/writer. Is it possible to resore my system via XDArit and a backup? Can someone provide me a working 2002 backup from boot, OS and GSM part? Or can I do this by myself. I really appreciate your help!! Thanks a lot.

Ok I see!
Do this then press the green phone button, tools, Options, Band
and post whats listed.
and yes its possible to restore your system via XDArit and a backup.
As far a the 2002 PPCPE ROM goes you should be able to download it from T-Mobile, so visit their web site and search their MDA upgrade/download section.

My MDA does not boot anymore! I can't get into windows and i can't sync anymore! I have the Radiostack and the 2002 image fram the T-Mobile Website but the image ist a NK.nbf. AFAIK XDArit needs *.nb1 Files? I also noticed that it seems not possible to write the GSM Part to the phone via XDArit.

Hiya Folks
I wonder if you could helpme with a bit of a problem, i have recently attempted to upgrade my XDA using the reccommended downloads from O2, this upgraded my ROM and the GSM part of the XDA. however when trying to get into my XDA it freezes, i can get into the bootloader but get a GSM error, am i able to flash the GSM, if so where can i get the flash and how would i carry this out. i have got into the GSM part of the bootloader and the GSM will not turn on. i have tried copying the GSM from a friends XDA only to find the message "please connect to RS232 and run PC monitor now"
Hope you can help
Cheers guys, you are truly more useful than the folks who we obviously look up to at O2!!!! Mind you this does not say much!!
Thanks again

Upgrade Disaster on XDA2

Have I fried my XDA 2?
I've had this thing 1 hour and I was running the latest rom upgrade from O2. While it was checking the rom in my XDA2 it came back saying "Error 120: Country ID Error". Now the thing is stuck in a serial bootloader 1.03 mode and grey screen.
I'd not made ANY changes to config of the XDA before trying to upgrade it.
Any ideas?
Don't lose hope mate! I had a very similar problem, with the same result, only my screen said "Serial v1.01" Black text on grey background, no backlight. When I placed it into the USB Cradle it changed to "USB v1.01". It would do this even after I took the battery out for 20 minutes, the moment I relaced the battery, without even pressing the power button. I believe this is correct operation for the XDA II when it's "between ROMs" so to speak, perhaps someone in authority will confirm this?
Anyway, after rebooting the XDA II and the PC, and re running the upgrade sequence about 10 times it worked, and I now have a perfectly functional XDA II. Made me sweat, and swear, for a few hours though, I can tell you.
Keep trying and good luck. Sorry I can't help more!
Andy
I have the same problem... still not working eventhough tried many many times..
It wont even go to bootloader mode.. (pressing power, navigation and reset button)
I come up with serial on top but when i plug-in to a usb cradle it turns to USB and v.1 06 at bottom..
I also tried with different roms.. (QTEK and MDAII) upgrade utility but it only comes up with a window "checking the information on your pocket pc.. .please wait" then the xdaII screen went blank (like no power) and the utility does nothing else..
can someone help? or have i lost the xda II totally?
Hi,
Same problem for me!
Please let me know how it can be solved.

alimx, You could be more polite replying to him, he was giving you a suggestion, why you become RUDE!!
well, If i have an answer or a solution to your problem then I prefer NOT to give it to you, jerk!!

alimx,
when it says "Serial" and "v1.06" then changes to "USB" when you place in the cradle, IT IS in bootloader mode.
I had this same problem with a recent i-mate I bought for my boss. It won't let you downgrade or switch to any other ROM besides the 1.66 i-mate ROM.
1. Open Activsync without the unit in the cradle.
2. Go to Activsync and uncheck the box where it says "Allow USB Connection with this Computer" (seems strange I know but it works)
3. Put the i-mate in the cradle. It should say "USB" and "v1.06" at the bottom.
4. Download and run the i-mate ROM version 1.66 from clubimate website.
5. Allow it a few minutes and it should finally come up with the screen about converting blah blah to blah blah ROM.
For some reasons, the new i-mates coming out that have the 1.66 ROM will not allow a downgrade to ANY OTHER ROM. Which I think is BS.
For the guy having trouble with 1.10 Radio version. My suggestion is to re-run the 1.66 ROM (I think it's your only option at this point until a new ROM is issued from i-mate). It may fix things. My 1.10 radio version seemed better the second time I loaded the ROM (I know it shouldn't make a difference but it seemed to).[/list]
Hi
When i tried the upgrade program version 1.0 from orange 166 DK my XDAII started at least to show error codes when upgrading.
Before it only become black
My unit was á new QTEK 2020 with french system 1.66, boatloder 1.06 maybe newer units needs the latest himalya upgrade software.
I will keep trying
Dear all.
I had the very same problem couple nights ago. All I did was soft and hard reset, all of which didn't help. But just before I lost my hope, I re-cradled my XDA II, at that time my xda's screen was still black and displayed "Serial", then I chose different upgrade version and installed it from my PC and everything turned out fine.
HTH Cheers,
I am having the same trouble
I am trying all these suggestions, but with no luck so far! (my screen displays v1:01 When I try and install anything on it, my pc can't detect the device
Any more advice?
HI
I found this
http://www.sourceo2.com/O2_Developers/Devices/O2_Xda_II/XdaIIRom.htm

Reflashing
Hello everyone, hope you're having a good Xmas.
I have the same problem but it's partly of my own making. I was upgrading my O2 XDA II to the lastest ROM (obtained from O2 website) and my laptop went into sleep mode after 46% of the upgrade was complete. Now all I have is the O2 blue screen. Soft and hard resets do nothing.
I did backup all my data (which I'm not sure includes the OS) to SDIO before starting the update and don't know if I can recover from that.
I will need to send it back to have it re-flashed if I can't find a solution but any advice you guys can give would be most welcome. At the moment my PC can't see the usb connected XDA and there's no activity on the XDA screen.
Thanks for your support people!

XDA1 with GSM ERROR on bootloader 1.51

I upgraded a TMobile XDA1 got the main ROM upgrade then went and tried to upgrade the radio stack. As I see from the many posts a bad thing to do. But this leaves me with a broken unit. The radio was T310. I can not see how I can solve this problem. I have an SD card, I have a friends German unit with an ENG Rom and the orignal radio which I will leave alone. How can I fix mine?
Thanks
GSM error on Bootload 1.50
Looks pretty much the same as my problem. By pressing the joystick after the error message, I get one step further, but no contact or upload of the ROM. I hope some wise person can supply an answer,
I have the same problem...
XDA O2 on Wallaby BootLoader v5.15 I see the error : "GSM ERROR"
my pda don´t start good I only see the rom version (3.17.03) and a blue wallpaper of O2..
I already update my rom but it don´t work yet !
Where can I find a GSM rom update? I'm from Portugal
What more can I do ?
Please, help me !
thanks
Joao Afonso, from Portugal
GSM Error
I have tried a number of solutions. None seem to work. If someone has the GSM rom and a solution to upload it let us know. I have tried coping a new radio version to the windows dir on the PPC, this fails. I have removed the back cover and battery again this does not work. The only alternative is to send it back for repair (expensive) or get a new one. I have looked at the solutions in the forum area and on the web but can not find an answer. The unit is an old TMobile (GERMAN) Xda. Upgraded the OS OK then messed up the radio. So as I say let me know if someone has a proven solution. Thanks.
How to fix GSM Error Problem ....
Download the XDA-Developers ROM Version 1.1.
Install the ROM on your Device via SD-Card and bootloader.
The phone should start up and give you the screen allignment and the whole menu!
Download an Upgrade for your device. This depends ont the model you are using. Check the sticker at the back of your device.
If it is a PW10A-Model download RSU Version 4.16.
If it is a PW10B-Model download RSU Version 6.24.20.
Extract the downloaded ZIP-File and copy all files to the /Windows directory of your device.
Copy the RSUpgrade.exe additional to the /windows/startup directory.
Make an soft reset of your device.
Maybe the upgrade will stop again at 1%, this may occur when you have an empty battery.
Place your device in the cradle. Run Active Sync on your device.
The RSU Upgrade will run in the background.
Wait for about 10 Minutes. The upgrade should complete in the background....
Afterwards all should work again...
Good luck....

GSM Error
Many thanks for the information. I have tried this but to sorry to say this does not work for me. I can get the RSUgrade.exe to load on the PDA, it stops at 1% and then hangs. The XDA was a TMobile GER unit with 32Mb. I have two units the same, I attempted to upgrade the radio on one and it failed at 10% rebooted and hung with GSM error. Since then I am at a loss as to the next step apart from throwing it in the bin.

Same problem..
.. and no solution for the GSM Error. There is no possibility to get a connect (O2 germany) and the RSU-Utility stops after 1% - always.
Please help!
Have you tried leaving it for 24 hours with the 1% on screen?
Flash failed
The problem is that there is a message "Flash failed - press ok to restart."
No possibility to leave the program..

Question about Wallaby ppc PW10A1

Hello i've got an Wallaby from O2 ..
I want to format my divice so i can reinstall the most needed things on it.
But my problem is witch programs i must use?
And witch ROM i'll have to get for the new software so i can use my GPRS, for T-Mobile ?
So witch ROM program/install (because he must first be totally clean before i go on)..and how can i reformat my O2 Wallaby XDA ppc PW10A1 ??
Please help! I've got a dockingstation so help me with some links...
....anyway! Please help me! I'm dieing for some information !!
It's not possible for me to get on the GPRS.
Greetz,
PaSo
You get a clean ROM by doing a hard reset. Then only programs already included in theROM will be onyour device.
Stefan
but that's the problem !!!!
It's an o2 device and i've got a T-Mobile sim-card in it.
And i want to go onto the GPRS-Network, but that isn't possible because the ROM on the device blocks that.
So can i put an other ROM on it ??
New update or something ??
You can flash a T-Mobile ROM on it.
BUt i do not believe that the device blocks just GPRS. Have you done correct settings for T-Mobile? Is the sim card working in the device (Phone)?
Stefan
My sim is working ok. I can call and sms to other people.
Ok. Can you tell me how to flash my XDA... with new software?
Because i want to delete all, format complete and reinstall new working software for every simcard.
So i can use him!!

hmm i'm not that intelligent to use these programs.
I don't know how i can flash the device.
What must i do ??
It should work to download a ROM in EXE format, connect your device to your PC running active sync and run the Exe-File....
Stefan
It workd, i've got a new ROM onto the divice.
The one of xda-developers self.
Now i've got to get the right settings for TMobile.
Thanks anyway.
And maybe next time.

Problem upgrading Radio, stuck at 0%

Helo everyone, im currently in limbo about what to do..
i've been using the official HTC WM6 rom on my 8525 with radio v1.40 i think.. i've been loosing signal 2 to times daily. I upgraded to Radio 1.57, everything worked much better then 48 hours later the radio went dead.
i've been using 2 different WinXP PCs but both have the same results so im sure its not the OS..
I've been reinstalling different OS without any problems but always reports NO GSM, i've tried running SSPL-HERM from within WM6 and run the flash from the radio 1.54.07.00 firmware here on XDA-Dev but still 0% progress on the "updating the rom".. error 262 update error..
The phone is using HRM100 IPL-1.04 SPL-2.10.Olipro
Could it be:
A - bad block? if yes, how do i fix it?
B - phone is bricked?
C - damaged radio (physical hardware)
Any help would be great!
I have EXACTLY the same problem....! Now I am worried that I'll get busted on the Warantee rap despite it being the offical T-Mobile release for WM6 for HERM300! Mine stopped working after 12 hours. I have a HERM300 and cannot flash the Radio back. Be careful... I think it's a bad block or something permanent. Trying to flash it back to WM5 and send it back for repair bit it's not looking so good at the moment. Will help you if / when I can.
Seems like all radio's starting to break
I didn't even flash mine and it is broken, can flash everything except for the radio part.
now using it like a normal PDA, using internet through bluetooth with my old phone.
Just 10 months to go before I can get a new phone, I don't think it will be HTC again, never got support from them, only from this website.
i found the best way to flash is by using the sd card method, I always use this method to flash my vario II

Try to use an earlyer RUUwrapper after exctract the .exe file. It solved my same problem. I tryed to flash Schaps 4.00 and stoped at 0% I extracted the 4.00 and the 3.60 roms and I overwrited the 4.00's ruuwrapper with 3.60's ruuwrapper and I launched it (4.00) I can flash with that ruuwrapper without problems I hope it works to you too

Yep! Dunno why. GSM appears to be dying, Just got mine repaired in the post from T-Mobile. Just did a quick MTTY check on it (info 8) and there is BAD BLOCK on it already!!! Repaired???? Not so sure. Should I risk HARD-SPL and flash the rom from WM5 to WM6?
