This may be a stupid question from a noob...
Hi everyone. I've recently owned an XDA Exec PPC device (which is very marvelous by the way) and I'm trying to synchronize it with my Vista Ultimate computer. I haven't installed anything on my computer and and that I should download a Windows Mobile Device Center ver 6.1 instead of installing ActiveSync. I've already followed the instructions on the site and my device is able to "successfully connect" with my computer. However it didn't "synchronize" my data.
My question now is... if it successfully connected with my computer, why does my device or the computer have the same data? I've checked the Windows Calendar and the Windows Contacts and it still doesn't show any changes. Could it be a problem with my computer? Or on my device?
I've read some article somewhere that ActiveSync should still be used even though there is already a Windows Mobile Device Center as this compliments it. Is this true? Should I need to download ActiveSync?

Mobile device center replaces activesync. You cannot use activesync under vista (and you cannot use mdc under XP)

You've just missed the most important step, buy MS Outlook in order to show your syncronized data.

Thank you very much for your response. I was assuming that MS would use the default Calendar and Contact applications on Vista for the WMDC. I've successfully synchronize my device and Outlook '07.

My company's security group recently pushed out an "upgrade" to the GoodLink client on my personal Mogul Power PC that allows them to arbitrarily (in practice, during working hours) disable access to my Pocket Outlook apps, including POP3, IMAP and even text messaging clients. The GoodLink Messaging client apparently accomplishes this by replacing all shortcuts and making changes to the registry. I suspect that that is the extent of the problem because Pocket Outlook apps running during the morning lockdown period continue to function normally, but become inaccessible if shut down.
I would greatly appreciate some assistance in installing or implementing a workaround.

I share this cab to install Excel, Word, fax and zip Mobile 2010. It can be installed on a storage card (recomended) so you keep your Office 2007 working on your device for PowerPoint or OneNote.
If for some reason you need to open a word or excel document with Office 2007 you can do it through pxl.exe and pword.exe that are unthouched in root "\Wndows" Directory.

I used to use SEVEN networks' Desktop Connector to achieve this. However, the beta ended. So I am trying to find anything [free or paid] that allows me to access my work email from my personal phone without the Exchange Administrator knowing/intervening.
Note: My company doesnt allow for OWA or ActiveSync. So these two are not options.
