Difference between WM2003 and ROM's released by providers?

So I'm trying to figure this out. What is the difference between the WM2003 at lumpistefans kitchen and the 1.72 iMate ROM?
I have a Qtek 2020 old old rom (possibly 1.5x) and I'm having some trouble with voice quality on the receiving end of a conversation (not my side). Voice keeps cutting out like a bad VoIP connection.
What is the benefit of using the iMate 1.72 ROM over the WM2003 with added software (or vice versa)? If any.

Advice on using M3100 on O2 Germany

I have an Orange m3100 with a O2 Germany USIM. GSM seems to work fine, except that I don't get o2's "home-zone" indicator.
3G doesn't seem to work however. Sometimes (very rarely) I get the 3G symbol for a few seconds and then it disappears. I'm sure it is not a coverage problem as my friends get service fine.
I don't want to flash the whole ROM to an O2 germany setting I'd prefer a UK language version, and anyway, the keyboards are different.
So maybe adding some of the o2 extended CABs will work, but I'm not sure.
Any advice on this?
Richard
Not sure if this is releated however I had a problem with using an O2 sim (2G) on my unlocked M3100 see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=278206
Any way it's now been about 4 days and I have had an continous network coverage after upgrading the Radio Rom to 1.16.00.00
I added the o2 exended cabs to my ROM and that gave me the home-zone indicator. After some investigation, I found that the reason I had no UMTS was because they forgot to enable it in the shop. Easy fixed from the portal. Oddly, I did intermittently get UMTS service (for a few seconds), which implies some bug somewhere.
I am with I-mate Rom (English one) no problems at all, I have all the time the U symbol (UMTS for 3G), I did something and now I doesn't have the home sign but I have to see what I have changed, but normally it works

Best Radio for the UK in general

Hi guys,
Just came back to the UK from HK and the reception on my Hermes is pretty bad.
I was using 1.47.30.10 with Smartone Vodaphone in Hong Kong and it was brillient.
However, now back in the UK, with 3, my reception is really bad, sometimes even no recpetion. I am in Birmingham.
I also need to flash my girlfriends phone which is on O2.
Really would appriciate some advice from members here.
Thanks in advance,
Regards,
Jason
52 views and no one can be bothered to help out?
am on orange uk using latest official radio from orange - 1.38.
Not much use to you I guess though. I think T mobile users have a later one as the best for them.
Probably best advice is to try several and see what's best for you as the roadio rom's can be specicfic to the operators.
I used 1.50.00.00 with good results on both O2 and Vodafone networks.
Heard 1.51 was bad. Not tried the most recent one 1.54 (I think).

thanks for the replies guys.
will try a few out and report back on 3UK best.
on t-mob on hertfordshire, the besy tom for me was 1.40. but just giving 1.54 a test now...
not sure thta helps as we are so far apart
Let me us know how you get on with the 1.54's the 07 has been the best one I've used and I've tried most of the good ones. 1.27, 1.38, 1.48. 1.50
Well im in Wolverhampton. Travelling around the west midlands and stafford areas.
Im on T-mobile and using radio version 1.43 with pretty good constant reception.
1.50.00 was probably the best, and I spend a lot of time in the West Midlands on Vodafone with 3G switched off.
hope no one minds me resurrecting this old thread, has anyone got recent opinions on this?
especially for vodafone?

Go to the wiki.
On it you will find 'Available cooked wm6 roms'. Look for your carrier!

Received MMS images scaled down O2 UK

Recently purchased a Sim free HTC Hero. Set up the APNs for O2 and all is working fine .. except one thing.
Whn I receive an incoming MMS picture it is scaled down to the lowest resolution and is useless. I beleive this is to do with mms headers when conencting to the O2 servers ... ie because it doesnt know about the HTC Hero (they dont sell them) it just send thelowest resolution for max compatability.
Is there anyway to get higher resolution images??
Thanks
Just chatted to O2 customer support (Oh joy) .... got the answer I expected. They dont support the handset. What a waste of space!!!!

Same problem with Touch Pro 2, Touch HD and other devices. I will try it with my brothers o2 Ignito (Diamond)
O2 are well known for this problem.
you can try it on any phone you like, when you recieve an MMS on O2, or from a phone on o2, the picture is so small it's useless.
take the same phone and try it on another network and no problem.
yet another reason not to be on o2!!
Yup .. seems to be the case. Popped an orange sim in from another phone ... works fine.
I used to have this problem with my my WinMo phones and O2. The solution was to make a couple of regedits and change the user agent of the MMS app to something O2 recognises. I would always change it to a particular version of Arcsoft MMS (cant remember which) and also change the handset identifier to make is think it was a XDA Mini S.
I am not sure how we could do this with android?
cant we change the user agent?
