Different ring tones for different phone numbers. - MDA, XDA, 1010 General

I have the HTC Wallaby or TMOBILE phone edition. I upgraded the rom to XDA Developers rom and wow...what a difference.
Has anybody had any problems with the ring tones? I understand how the thing works pretty much but for some reason I can't get the ring tones to change for different callers. I tried by catagory and by right clicking on the name from within the phone number organiser and selecting the change ringtone function but it defaults tothe ringtone selected in the sounds control panel for all callers. Is there a patch or did I miss something. Anybody else run into this problem

[Q] Where is the default ringtone / notification sound?

The default sound is nowhere to be found. I have looked in System/Media and it is not there. The tone I am talking about is when no tone is selected in the selection area. The AT&T tone is selected by default for the ringtones, but nothing is selected for the notification tone. The notification still has a default sound and that's the one I am trying to find. Any help would be great.
I am little confused on what your asking which version of Android and firmware your running. Can you see the ring tone where you go to change it in settings? And if your looking for where in system the file it self is what are you using to go though your files with. Personally I like root explorer but you have to have root I will look to see where tones are.
AT&T ATRIX - VERSION 2.3.4 ROOTED BL UNLOCKED
I am on a rooted Motorola Atrix with Gingerblur ROM installed (2.2.2). The ringtone I am interested in was on the stock Atrix as well. This tone can be found by going to Messaging, Menu->Settings->Notification settings->Select ringtone->Default ringtone. But this ringtone is not where I would expect. My goal is to make this Default ringtone my Phone ringtone instead of my Messaging Notification ringtone. I looked with Astro in /system/media/audio/notifications... actually, I looked in all the folders in audio (alarms, notifications, ringtones, ui) and this tone is not there. Is there somewhere else to look with Astro? Thanks for the help!

vibrate only on text messages?

I've tried every possible way to get vibrate only on text messages without any text tone but I can't seem to get it. Is it possible on the Nokia Lumia 920 to have no text tone but vibrate only instead? If I sent my text tone to none and receive a text its not gonna vibrate at all unless I use a text tone. I don't want to switch the whole device to vibrate only I still want to have my ringtone on.
I do not think it is possible to do just yet. When GDR3 is released this will be a possibility, but u have to wait 4 it. Sorry.
Just go around the need to have a tone ... and create a silent one and assign it as the message tone ... then it plays, but does not make a sound ...

Click to collapse
How do u assign a custom message tone in WP8? It cannot be done.
Sorry about that ... I thought that the ringtone maker would allow the ringtone to be used for the SMS alerts ... and you are right, there is not an obvious way to get a new SMS alert loaded on the phone ...

Separated volume level for the calls and notification

Hi,
Somebody know how to separate/unlink volume for the calls and notifications? I tried to install and to set VolumeButler app, no success here
Please help
Thanks
I know it can be done because my backup phone...ZTE Axon 7 has it built in. However, unless the OEM implements it I have never had any success in using third party apps to get it to work properly. Even though some apps make it "look" like it unlinked them...they still operate in lock step with each other. This is a Google Android thing. Since Google likes to make so many changes all the time I wish they would change this requested behavior since I know it can be done!
Since I use only one notification tone for all text messages what I did was create the one I want at half volume. That way when I have full volume for the ringtone the notification volume doesn't scream at me. I just use a built in tone for Gmail and Outlook. Of course if you need a different tone for each contact...well...it can be done by the same method but it is a lot of work creating all those tones. This of course is all based on using your own personal tones and not what comes with the phone by default.
