XDA2 Car Kit sound output !!???!??!?! - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

Anyone figured out the patch, fix, mod to get the sound from the xda2 (gps prompts) to output thru the car kit speaker, or the radio output???
Anyone with the original xda2 car kit will know what I am talking about.

When you say "original Xda2 carkit", do you mean an official one from O2?
If so, where did you get it from? I've been looking everywhere and can't find a single retailer (including O2 themselves) who are already selling it! Can it be ordered online?
(Sorry this didn't answer your question).

i got the official carkit
and the latest rom 1.66.00WWE
sound is perfect through the speakers
maybe you need to upgrade

I am in australia and it is the original kit from O2. The sound is perfect thru the speaker, but it is only when in a call....no other sounds come thru the car kit speaker, just the phone call. I would like to have all of the audio output thru the car kit speaker.

I cant believe that no one here has a solution for this problem???

Still no one has this same problem??

carkit, navigation and sound
dear shawnthecableguy, baught the expansys carkit pro, installed as requested and as i understand we share the same problem, only sounds of the telephone during calls are emitted throgh the carkit speakers, other sounds (navigation guideness, pda and even incoming call rings) are not, the problem as i understand is in the heandsfre_dll.dll file (in windows directory), we need to change it with a former rom version

Thanks for the reply... I will do some research and let you know what the outcome is. Let me know if you find a replacement dll that works.
Thanks

Have you any pics of this car kit.
What's in the box?
The car kit.
Connection for antenna, radio, power and fix for the kit?

Any luck with sound output?
Has anyone had any luck with this?? :?:

Shawn, what is your rom version?
Akira mentioned (when I look at it; DID he?) he has both gsm and pda sound thru the kit with rom 1.66.00WWE

Some feedback on my new XDA2 carkit I bought from www.telido.de for 137 euro. It indeed looks like the Expansys kit.
Works flawlessly.
Some remarks:
1. Ring-tone is via PDA speaker
2. Phone sounde (after call acceptance) is via carkit speaker
3. PDA sounce (like TomTom directions) is via PDA speaker
4. audio mute (to ground in a call) / acc-out (to 12v in a call) only functions AFTER call acceptance
Since the T-Mobile kit does have these function the correct way, It should be possible to fix this in s/w . . . .
Microfone is very good directive.
Speaker is clear an loud
All in all i am happy especially since I paid 137 euro . . . .

I am using the beta t- mobile rom, but have tried the asia rom as well and it didnt make any difference.

@shawnthecableguy:
WHAT beta?
The 1.72 T-Mobile?
Tried the 1.72 iMate (non-beta)?
I have the 1.60 T-Mobile (was on the device, but can be downloaden from T-Mobile NL)
The thing is that with the official T-Mobile MDAII casrkit, people claim to get all audio thru the carkit speaker.
SO: AFAIK both the T-Mobile MDAII carkit and my (Expansys like) XDAII carkit only use the cradle-like connector which only have few wires for putting thru audio.
In other words: IF this works with the T-Mobile MDA carkit, it should also work with the XDAII carkit. It HAS to be in software, ie. the ROM

Sound on external speaker (a solution)
I also came across the no-sound-on-external-speaker-problem bottom connector when using the bottom connector.
My configuration:
ROM 1.60.00GER, Radio 1.06.01
CAR_ON on ground or not connected at all
rings, sounds only on internal speaker, only phone calls on external speaker
I get all sounds (incl. ring, mp3, ...) through the bottom connector if there is something plugged into the headset connector!

All sound via bottom when headset is plugged is, sounds promising.
Gonna try that in some minutes as I drive home . . .

errrr...
No luck.
I tried the headphone connector of my carkit.
That obviously doesnt make any sense: This connector gets its signal from the flat connector too . . . .
Still looking for a good software version (I read that it maybe is in handsfre.dll)

solution in ROM ?
Hi all,
i've read all the posts 'bout this and still have a litle doubt in my mind. Has anyone tested if v.1.72 works around the "in-call only" sound problem ?
I just received my expansys car kit pro but still not installed, maybe tomorrow if i have the chance. As i'm using tom tom i am interested in a solution to this "flaw"....
btw my specs are:
ROM: 1.72.00WWE (from i-mate )
radio: 1.14.00
protocol: 1337.24
extRom:1.72.126

no luck....
Unfortunately, after a sleepless night installing the kit and half a day in toyota repair shop replacing the car battery, i had no luck. I got stuck with the same "in-call" only sound problem through the speakers....
@Omega77:
what do you mean all sound with something plugged in at headset ?? if a connect something to the xda headset connector i'll get sound through the car kit ?

PS
ups.....almost forgot...
does anyone know who is the manufacturer of the car kit pro sold by Expansys ?
Mine has a sticker and i presume its a company called E-Lead but i can't find them on the net....
maybe we could contact them in Thay and try to get some answers...

Sound from main connector?

Hi
Can anybody confirm if sound is wired into the main connector, I currently plug into the headphone / microphone jack plug to get TomTom sounds in the car, but it would be much more convenient to insert just one connector instead of two.
Has the connector wiring diagram been published anywhere?
Cheers
Justin
oops
I have just found it
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/wiki/Connectors
Justin
Good luck!
Hi
The wiring diagram from
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/wiki/Connectors is incorrect for the Himalya.
I only managed to get sound from one channel, and grounding pin 19 did not switch off the internal speaker.
Does anybody know of another source of the pinout for the connector.
I could buy a http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=108730 but that seems expensive.
Cheers
Justin
Justin,
More than one source confirmed the pinout of the connector is correct for the Himalaya.
Are you sure you did not get thing wrong?
Maybe some other threads (key word "carkit" or "car kit") are of interest for you.
YES sound is fed to the bottom connector
BUT dependent of who you speak with (ie which rom theyre using):
- all sound (both in-call phone and pda)
- in-call phone only
Unfortunately my carkit (O2 XDA II as sold by Expansys) only let me hear in-call phone sound. My rom is the T-Mobile 1.60.00 (1.60.36 ext rom).
Hi edsub
After posting I read about the problem with sound only comming out of the bottom connector when In a call, I didn't try this. Hopefully a later ROM will fix this issue. Until then I will use the headset jack plug.
Cheers

I have the same problem with the original CarKit of the XDA I.
So this could be a general problem....
Stefan
I used to have stereo from the bottomconnector from my XDA 1, but not from my MDA 2...
As far as imknow Edsub is correct, only in-call audio works for now with most ROM's...
Getting all-audio through the speakers seems to be a rare story...
@johan: It sure is a rare story. Especially from the stories that seem to imply that one it getting all sound thru the bottom connector, I only got feedback from one person that claimed this was the case for rom 1.60.00 in combination with the T-Mobile MDAII carkit.
Which makes it even stranger because that same rom is the one I am using (and only having in-call phone audio) . . .

Rare (Eng.) = Zeldzaam (NL.)
I only read one story of a guy who said Tomtom work through the speaker, i'm afraid the was another mixup about waht speaker. The internal one or not....
According to Mocki on www.ppc-welt.info two pins are important:
pin19 should be grounded
pin9 should be UNconnected
This situation makes the T-Mobile carkit behave like wished:
When there is sound output (no matter what source):
1. radio is muted
2. sound goes via bottom connector to carkit-speakers (or car-audio line-in)
Does anyone know how pin 9 is connected inside the O2 XDAII carkit???
Help - can see any of it!
Hi
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/wiki/Connectors just gives me XML/XSL errors, and I cant speak German - really could do with a wiring diagram for the bottom connector.
I have Carcomm car cradles, Nokia Bluetooth car kits (kinda of works now) and a very neat bluetooth head set. I want the cradle to send audio to an aux input on the car stereo so I can play MP3's from the 512 SD card I just got!!
I can drill a hole in the bottom of the carcomm and attach a 3.5mm jack but it would be much better if I could use the connector
Ta!!

Thanks for that - something to do this weekend now!!

Hi
If that works it will be great, I'm not going to try it until someone else confirms it works as I need to get a hardware guy to do the soldering for me.
So if any of you are going to try it, please remember to post back here.

before i buy jabra 250 . is it work well with pda2k

before i buy jabra 250 . is it work well with pda2k now after the new rom????
also do you have something better than jabra?
jabra 250
no good 4 a xda2
jabra also confirm this if asked
so which bluetooth headset is best ?
Sony Ericsson Akono HBH-300 ok ?
Mine works faultlessly with my XDAII.
Mine works, but there is no actual handsfree. i.e. you cannot do a last number redial, as with the wired headphones, so I presume it is not legal to use in UK when driving?
When you ring someone there is a second delay then the XDA transfers the call to the headset. When you recieve a call you have to press the answer but on the headset then it is transfered. You don't get it ringing in your ear. Well mine doesn't.:-(
Regards
I get ringing in my ear with mine and no dely when transferring.
I can confirm that only answering and ending calls work. There is no dialing on LNR.
Headset
I have a blue angel ( SX-66) and neither my BT200 or 250 work with it....
The Stack is too old as well so my BT keyboard will not work either !
Stay away from Jabra 250 on these phones. Jabra 200 *might* be ok.
HBH-300, HBH-660, Plantronics M3000, Logitech Freedom are few that work well.
HS820 will work but audio is poor compared to above head sets.
You can patch that SX66 with i-mate patches.
Hard Reset and apply these in this order.

Here is some commentary from Tech Support. Does this make any sense?
Dear Sir.
Thank you for writing in and for your query. Regarding your issue, I would like to tell you that you should install the Bluetooth patches after upgrading your device in order to fix the device Bluetooth issues. On the other hand, regarding Bluetooth headsets, Sony Ericsson HBH-65, Cellink, Jabra and Motorola headsets work perfectly with i-mate devices. Most of these headsets have been tested by i-mate technical team. There have not been any reported complaints regarding these headsets as they are quite compatible and error free with the i-mate™ devices.
Regarding Plantronics M3000 Bluetooth headset have not been tested yet from i-mate technical team.
On the other hand, make sure that your headset has the following specifications: Bluetooth Ser. Version 1.1 and supports the headset profile.
I brought a jabra 250 and didn't know it had problems with this device 100$ later I reallized that it doesn't work it pairs and I can hear people but if I am more than 2 feet from the phone the audio become muffled.
my coworker has a nokia headset. and the same thing happened.
I am not sure what my bluetooth version is but I I do have the latest roms.
Hi,
I have the Jabra BT200 with the non bluetooth adapter and I get more crackle in my ear that I get out of my bowl of Rice Krispies! And there is no point in using the adapter with it when the headset is bluetooth and is supposed to work with my MDA III. Oh! and for the record... I also have the SX56 and the bluetooth adapter and it didn't work with that device either. When I plugged it in the jack and turn on the set , no sound. Jabra is a decent product. But lets face it, Any company that is going to make anything or install anything Bluetooth need to stick with one set of Bluetooh frequency protocols instead of trying to make it customized to work with just certain devices. Because everybody is not going to stick with the same headset or the same phone and people upgrade all the time and others just stick with what works. In my research I did fine that any of the Plantronics headsets (M2500 best pick) works well. Which I will pick up this weekend. I hope this helps. Cheers everyone.

using a bt200
I'm using a blue angel (XDA2s) with a Jabra BT200 headset, I have installed the recently released patch from o2 to fix the bluetooth problems, and now I find it works ok, audio is reasonable withing a couple metres, gets a bit flaky further away but I'm never sure if that's the bluetooth or network signal in my house!
It IS slightly annoying that you can't do dialing, not even last number redial from your headset, but mostly if I'm driving I'm not making calls, merely expecting them, so I can answer on my headset OK and talk to the caller. I DO get a short ring tone in my ear (series of short beeps).
I got my headset free with my phone so I'm happy to live with it's limitations til I've finished paying for Xmas, then I might ebay it and buy an officially supported one which I can do LNR with.
I have heard (dont know if anyone can confirm) that the blue angel doesnt support voice dialling via your headset (for any bt headset) as the bluetooth headset doesnt take over the microsoft for all applications on the blueangel.
Jabra FS-258 (Jabra 250 + car charger)
No problems here (crackle) after upgrading to the 3500 stack. Making voice commands isn't the fault of the gadget -- blame the stack on the XDA. Originally bought mine for the SE T68i and it worked perfect. Moving to the SE K700i the call button didn't work anymore. So, this is a software driver implementation problem definitely. The best thing about the Jabra is its linked to all the previous devices and I just have to turn off the bluetooth on one so the connection hops to the other. Seamless integration with the XDA IIs.
My Jabra 250 works perfectly on my the XDA II and my XDA IIs. On the IIs i do get some crackle/static related to the bad stack especially so after the 3500 update but hopefully that will be fixed soon, anyway that is no fault of the headset.
Also on the IIs it is extremely loud and i had to turn it down. I always had it on full on the II.
On both II and IIs there is a ringing in the headset aswell as the devices ringing.
It is a shame that handsfree is not fully supported still in the new IIs.
o2 don't like making it easy to find out about compatability, do they?
There's the list on the my-xda website, but that's not very exhaustive.
Muggins here phoned up customer services trying to find out whether the Logitech stuff worked. After taking me through security, I got another number...
...which was engaged for 20 minutes.
So, eventually I got thru, and was told to phone customer services (on a different number) and ask for data support.
I got through there. "Nick", a helpful chap, then passed me onto tech support.
Tech support insist that the only things that work are the:
SonyEricsson HBH200 and 65, and the Nokia HS 4W, 3W, HD W3 and W2.
I suspect they are talking what is known technically as "balls".
This site seems much more helpful...

Motorola HS850 -- static?

I've got a Motorola HS850 BT headset, and while working out of the box with my T-Mobile MDA III, for now the ROM version 1.06.00, I get a lot of static and people say they cannot hear me on the other side, while I can hear them -- though with some static.
Is this a BT problem which is fixed in a new ROM version -- i.e., would reflashing the ROM help and worth doing in this case?
What version of BT do you have? 3500 or 3900 (available as a cab file in the ftp) would help if you are not already at that level, also which radio version are you running?
Just upgraded to Radio 1.13 and BT 3900. A different kind of static -- all the time, lower intensity, annoying to no end. Can talk, but as in a thunderstorm...
Bringing MDA III closer to the headset solves the problem, but defeats the whole idea of hands-free -- I have to hold it at chin level, might speak into MDA as well...
Are there any tunable parameters for BT? Does it make sense to try a different headset instance (same/diff. model)?
Which headset works best with MDA III, in the local experience?
I am using the HS850 with a XDA IIs Radio 1.13 and BT V3900 I get static if I am not in line of sight and or exceed 3 feet away from the handset. Other then that it works ok. I was using a SE 660 headset and it was terrible. The Blueangel BT leaves a lot to be desired. Do you know someone else with a HS850 that will let you borrow it for a bit?
my Radio 1.12 and BT 3900 ... i got two bluetooth headsets. one is bluespoon AX. another is motorola HS-820.
my xdaIIs can pair with both of them. HS-820 working perfect but not the bluespoon AX. can talk unless i hold my xda2s on my hand. not inside my pocket or leather case.
I really prefer to use my AX .... . really headache!! anyone able to work with his /her xdaIIs with bluespoon AX??

Which Bluetooth Stereo Headset are you using?

Hi all:
--
I was wondering which BT Stereo Headset [not headphones meaning I can make calls etc] you guys are using with your HTC Wizard or any A2DP device for that matter.
--
My criteria:
1) can be used well with my dopod 838
2) fits well [this is subjective]
3) doesn't move around when I turn my head
4) good battery performance
5) price is not much of an issue
--
I am looking at the following Headsets:
1) Motorola HT820
2) iPhono PLUS BT420Rx
3) iPhono mini BT450Rx
4) iTech S35
5) iTech R35
--
I put the iTech's at 4 and 5 because even if they are BT headsets they still have wires danggling about in other words they are psuedo-wireless .
--
So what are your thoughts about these headsets? Any other headsets I should be looking at? Personal experiences, Links to reviews and/or online shops are welcome. Thanks in advance
a teeny little bump, as i'm looking for one now. (lost the original wired headset)
still no replies... anyway just went around a famous mall here in manila and they don't have any stereo bt headsets! damn!

Was in a mall last night and was told by an okley sunglasses salesperson that they will have a sunglasses/stereo BT headset for music phones soon. Be about $225us I was also told if and when they do come out.

probably a variant of the RAZR wire also from Moto/Oakley [which was an MP3 + shades solution] the problem is I have glasses [thick ones at that... I dunno if the ones you are talking about will have prescription lenses
Wow thats a bit too expensive for something i'll probably loose or break...

guy s quick quesiton, .....do other version have the ad2 profile, ...infortunelty i dont think my 8125 has that....at least without using a dongle the size of my phone. Any firmware enhancements to get that profile ????lol
I installed the latest rom (2.8?) and it should have that a2dp in it.
I should be receiving my iphones today so i will let you know if it works.
so the 8125 is compatable with the ad2 profile def let me knw that would be great damn these devices are great
Finally! just received the i-phono 450rx
It works! And might I say, quite beautifully too.
Very decent sound quality (playing music now) I'm test-wearing it now and it's still pretty comfortable after 2 hours use.
There is a very slight hiss, only audible when no sound is playing.
The phone-headset function is not fantastic but people can understand me and i understand them. So what more do i want?
Bought it for playing music anyway.
I'm not really sure what a 8125 is, but if it's a "HTC wizard-device" it should work with the latest rom.
edit:
I just saw this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=42569
its about a2dp and your 8125, you might get it to work without a rom ugrade
thanks man
How will I know when the A2DP update is availailable other than this site? Where are the updates usually found? I really am anxiously awaiting being able to purchase a good set of bt headphones for my 8125.

Finally got my own stereo bt headsets. Got myself an iTech Blueband [it looks the same as the Sonorix and ANYCOM headsets] it works with the Qtek Test ROM although sometimes the music cuts in and out. Also it is not as comfortable [for my ears atleast]
Alternately I use a bluespoon ax2, and a jabra bt250v. love them both.

I have the 450rx and according to the manual there is no way to actually initiate the voice dialing from the headset itself. I havent got the manual with me atm but from memory it said something like: For voice dialing, you must initiate the voice dial function from the handset and then you can talk into the microphone to tell the phone / pda who to call etc.
So, technically it is sort of possible, but i would prefer not to have to press the voice dial button on the K-JAM as it sort of defeats the purpose of using the voice dial function. Even though i have only just got the 450rx (and can't use it as i-mate still hasn't released A2DP) i am already on the lookout for a stereo headset that has PROPER voice dial.

Chris

I lost my Wizard's original heaset

Hi,
I want a headset for my Wizard that meet the following requirements:
1. SUPER sound quality.
2. 2.5mm jack - I don't want an adapter.
3. Prefered Mic.
4. Prefered Volume control.
Can anybody post any useful items??
P.S. : Does anybody sell original Wizard headsets with Mic (mine is O2 Branded and I live in the UK)????
Thanks,
Mohammad
i have a nokia hs-16 headset and i'm very enjoy it hs-16 has three different cable to connect to 3,5mm, 2,5mm and 2,5mm nokia jack. i used a 2,5mm nokia cable and mic works good with my wizard it only doesn't have volume control...
ps. sound quality is very good for me
Hey, Thanks
How does the sound quality compare to the original headset? and Where from did you buy it?
Cheers
well stupid answer, but have you not just tried the o2 shop mohammed, thats where i got my last one from, about four months ago
No, I haven't. but I will give it a try and repost the result here.
Cheers
well, I searched in O2 UK shop but I found only blueooth headsets for Wizard, can you provide me a link for the ones you got?
Thanks
Mohammad
i never found mine online, i went into the o2 store, i have checked online and ,like you , have only found bluetooth headsets. I have found a link here though
http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/10097.htm
it isnt the original o2 one, but it is Genuine i-mate JAM Stereo Personal Handsfree Kit
Yes, I've seen it.. I even found the original O2 ones, but the link is in my other computer..
but I am now searching for a Super quality 2.5mm headsets..
The only thing I saw in the market was the miniBuds Boxwave's headsets, but I don't know if anybody tried them?? are there any other brands?
I have a T-Mobile MDA and my headphones went dead a month or two ago. I just bought a replacement from e-bay. A simple search will bring many results. I think I paid about $5.

I bought from a seller called sami809
HS-47
I've just bought a Nokia stereo headset HS-47. It has a 2.5 mm jack, so I one can use it without adapter. The microphone and the answer button both do there job, but there is no volume control. The quality of the equipment is good, but the sound quality isn't that good. For a super sound I think you have to buy a HS-16.
bought what a seller told was an ome headset. got questions: im i suppose to hear from both left and right ear buds, and im i suppose to able to end or start accept call with the button next to the volume button onthe headset. wonder if i have open circuits on the headset jack on my wizard.
If you have the right headset, then you are supposed to hear from both left and right ear buds, answer incoming calls and end conversation by pressing the button next to the volume control.
If these are not the case, it doesn't necessarily mean that something is wrong with your phone or the headset. It might be that they are not compatible. That would mean the one you got isn't an OEM piece, or maybe it's OEM, but intended for a different device.

Maybe the headset is the wrong color, no wait I know your phone hates you and is secretly plotting to drive you mad and have you committed to an insane asylem and then join with my phone in its plot to take over the world. or it could just be as simple as there is something wrong with the headset who knows about these things??
i would expect such flaming wise crack from a senior memeber ; )
