Using xda2 abroad - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

Hi there... this is my first post so forgive me if i don't get the protocol correct!
Will my 02 locked phone work when roaming in europe because i have family in Germany and France and i will need to use my phone abroad?.
If it will roam OK i have no reason to unlock it.
Cheers

Yes, it will roam fine, but be aware that O2 charge a small fortune for GRPS usage abroad.
You should be able to get an add-on package for european roaming that will reduce your costs a bit, but it still works out very expensive. I have this addition yet I was recently charged £1.70 for a 4k download from France. Spain is even more expesive for some reason.

TMobile in Australia

I just wanted to pass on my experience with a 900/1900mhz device on the Australian Telstra network (900/1800mhz) for any other aussie's thinking of buying a US model to save some cash.
I initially bought this with the expectation that GPRS probably wouldn't work, but I figured this wouldn't matter that much as long as the phone did.
Anyway, after a call to Telstra, they told me it should still work fine on the 900mhz band so I setup my account for access to the network, put in the details and hey presto! GPRS!
I did however discover a missing component. The support guy was walking me through the process and asked me to put in the proxy information....huh? Not there! Is this something that has been removed from the developer rom or is it just the Australian XDA that has this extra tab in the connection settings? Luckily Telstra also offer a non-proxy connection so I was able to get around this anyway.

New User saying hello and an answer on 1900mhz

Hi all,
as a new XDA user have been reading through the forum with interest, found out a lot about my unit that I did not know and am sure there is a lot more to find,
My XDA is a Model PW10B1
Rom : 4.00.01ENG
Radio 4.20.00
Protocol 32S54
At the moment I am using a T-Mobile (UK) Sim in it and am happy with the service,
In answer to some of the comments on the board about using the phone in the US, I can confirm it does work fine, I got the best service on the US T-Mobile network around Denver where the GPRS worked fine, (Using the T-Mobile offer of GPRS at same as UK rates, managed to do anot of good data transfer), on the West Coast (LA) the phone works fine but no GPRS available, due to the network roaming agreement there.
hope that helps for anyone thinking about taking XDA to a US area
Ammendment to the Above,
I should say that my XDA is a Model PW10A1, but since installing 2003 the software page reports it a PW10B1
And the Test in the US was done before the 2003 was written over the standard ROM

This user says his won't work at all in the US.
Hi
Well all I can tell you is that my phone which is a 64mb UK o2 device worked fine, both on T-Mobile while in Denver and also in Los Angles, but only got GPRS service in Denver!.
Maybe the other poster had an older model, or some other reason i don't know all I can say is that my unit looged onto the US network as soon as the band was switched in the bootloaded.
I am back there next month, I will take a picture of the screen if you want showing it logged onto the netowrk if you want to see proof!!

Using Other Sim From Other Country

Hi All,
I have some queries. Do I need to change my O2 UK Extended Rom to Asia Extended Rom for me to use the their Sim Card. I got an unlocked XDA2. Example I want to use the Sim Card in Philippines.
Thanks
Any suggestion from XDA2 users in Phils.
As far as your device is unlocked, it should work OK with any SIM.
However, some carriers do have specific policies for their networks, like for sending MMS, GPRS usage and some others. It also might have some predefined carrier settings in your original Ext ROM.
However, as far as I know, basic phone usage is almost sure to work OK.
Good Luck!
Phone coverage will be fine, I have used my XDAII in Singapore, Europe, Africa, and the US over the past 2 months without a problem... as for gprs well that I do not know, but to make phone calls etc, just pop in the new sim and you're good to go.

[Q] No receprion abroad

I've recently been in Morocco with my Streak, where I had no phone reception at all. I contacted my provider (O2 in the UK) who told me that I should be getting a network, my account is fine. However I had no network until the plane touced down back in the UK. This also happened to me last year when I spent time in the US. Could anyone be kind enough to suggest what settings may be incorrect on my Streak, which may be preventing me from picking up networks abroad? The phone is fine within Europe (UK/Germany/Switzerland) but doesn't work further afield. I'm traveling Stateside again in a few weeks I'd like to get on top of this problem before I go. Thanks.

running this in Europe?

Hi,
is it possible to use this phone in european cell phone networks as you know?
If you unlock the sim carrier lock it will work with any gsm carrier.
Yes it will
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using xda premium
I will be reporting on this soon. From Irealand with Meteor and from UK with Vodafone and T-Mobile UK
Stay Tuned
I got mine today from US!
Works perfect! Just iritated with all the "bloatware" that I can´t use anyway.
Thinking of rooting...
works fine in europe yes
I used this week whilst in Birmingham UK. It worked very well. Used Vodafone pay as you go and got 3meg down and 1meg up. All you need is to get it unlocked and use the correct apn settings and you are up and running.
Edit: I wrote some crap so I self-censorship
