GPRS settings problem, pls help! - MDA, XDA, 1010 General

I have an O2 XDA with an O2 PAYG sim card (not the online type). The normal GPRS setting work with my other contract sim but not with the PAYG sim. I rang O2 who emailed me the setting instructions for an XDA II and I tried to put them in but still no go. The settings O2 emailed me appear to be for wap too. Can anybody throw any light on all this please?

O2 versus Vodafone

Hi. I have unlocked my 64Mb XDA and am switching between my O2 and my Vodafone sim. I have noticed that very often with my Vodafone sim, after having switched off the phone part, I cannot switch it back on. I have to remove the sim card and reset a couple times before it works again. My XDA does now show this behaviour with my O2 card .... any clues?? (BTW, my O2 card has no GPRS, my Vodafone card does have GPRS)
Correction: My XDA does NOT show this behaviour with my O2 card .... any clues?? (BTW, my O2 card has no GPRS, my Vodafone card does have GPRS)
probably yours vodafone sim is too old - simply times exchange
My vodafone sim is from May 2002. Aside from that, when I use it in my Nokia 6310i with my iPaq h5450 and bluetooth, it works flawlessly!
Some SIM cards, particularly from Vodafone, draw more than the specified current. The xda is sensitive to this as the battery life optimisation is a little aggresive.
Get a new SIM card. If you "lose" your SIM Vodafone will charge you £15, but I did it and my new one works fine.

T-Mobile UK

Can anyone help?
Have xda atom but cannot use it on t-mobile uk! Keeps connecting then disconnecting and have no gprs signal. Have had a new sim card sent but still having the same problem  The sim is a 3g sim but t-mobile says that does'nt make a difference should be able to use in a non 3g phone? Is that True??
Put my orange or vodafone sim's in and connect to their networks no probs.
Anyone any suggestions please?
Try it on other non 3G phone? or try it at different geographic location
Thanks for your suggestion hanmin. Have tried different location but still the same. tried in another non 3 g phone and had the same. Have signed up on an o2 payg chip and no probs and have also now tried an orange 3g chip and that worked too. Now in dispute with t mobile as the chip is now playing up in my mda pro too and has been for a while (not a faulty pro after all maybe!)
Wished never switched to t mobile as always been an orange user!! why oh why!!
Have the same problem as you but on Virgin MObile UK. Am thinking of changing providers. Just moved from australia and brought my o2 atom with me.
Just to confirm, you've tested with vodaphone and o2 SIM and both worked fine?
Hi tristrem21 sorry have'nt looked on xda developers for a while! so did'nt notice your question regarding service providers. Yes have tried it on o2 and Vodafone and the sims work fine. It will also work well on Orange too.
same problem, bump for solutions
anyone though of anything yet?
thanks for the tip lob. have switched to o2. works fine now. cheers

o2 XDA II - Moving to T-Mobile

Hi There,
Wonder if some kind person could help me? I have a o2 XDA II which i got off e-bay. The unit is great and all i wanted it for was to collect my e-mails on, whilst on the move. Got a PAYT o2 sim card, popped it in. No GPRS. Phoned o2 and they don`t support it on PAYG. Great. My contract is with T-Mobile. I was wondering if this could be flashed so I could use T-Mobile on it. I know i can pop the card in and manually set it up, just wondering if its possible to remove all the o2 branding and backdrops and everything and put some T-Mobile ones one? Also has anybody got the setup guide for setting up t-mobile GPRS on this?
Many Thnaks
Regards
SJG
1 yes use allInone unlocker from unlocking it forum
2 you can remove the entry's for o2 stuff from the startup in windows dir or unlock the extented rom and rmove the o2 stuff and hardreset
3 do a search in the networking it forum for "tmobile AND grps" tons of posts will come

HTC Prophet GPRS/MMS Vodafone PAYG

hi guys,
im getting pretty frustrated right now, i unlocked my M600 to use with a PAYG vodafone sim card. I have been trying and trying to get the GPRS/MMS set up and cannot find anything. I called up vodafone and asked to be sent similar setting (the ones for the Vodafone v1605) and they told me to go to a vodafone store, unfortunatly the assistant there was lets say, 'not too technical'.
I have been on the HTC website and the only settings they have are for contract users.
Has anybody been looking for the same thing and, if so has anyone found anything!?!
cheers
I am on a contract, and I called vodafone to get the settings required for my prophet. It's a manual setup and they recommend you do not call on your mobile as you have quite a bit of setup work to do.
The tech support person just went through the settings with me, then sent me an MMS to test it was all good.
So I guess call them up again and ask for the PDA settings for PXT (thats exactly what I asked for)... they can't be sent to you like they can for other mobile phones.

Xda Mini S Sim Problems

I have recently purchased a "unlocked" phone which was a O2 Xda Mini S off ebay. It is supposed to work with pay as a you go and contract sims.
When we inserted our orange contract sim into it we found that we could use it to phone out and recieve calls, but could not text out or recieve them. When you try and go into the phone settings it is disabled and will not let you access this feature.
If you insert a pay as you go sim for example like a orange pay as you go, you can access everything and this includes texts out and recieve. Calls work and the phone is fine. You can also access the phone settings to change your ring tones etc.
The seller says that we have a 3g sim and we would need a 2g sim instead. We cannot get one of those and we are very confused what to do. Will they work on contract? Has it been unlocked correctly? Too many questions and no answers. We have tried a new orange contract sim which came recently from orange but to no avail. Orange can do no more for me and 02 will not bother.
Can anyone help as it is a xmas present?
