As it is possible to install ROM 1.72 from T-Mobile on O2 (MDA II)
Yes you can. You need to use the ER2003 prgram (extended rom editor) to change operator name from T-Mobile to O2. Use search function if you have not used ER2003 before. Follow the instruction to carry out.
Please notice that there're some problems people met when upgrading to 1.72 Beta version. Be sure that you understand all procedure before carry out.
My IMATE is now ROM 1.72 run smoothly, stable (for 2 weeks). I've just upgraded my friend's O2II.

How many weeks? O2 still seems to be distributing the 3/2004 release.

Yes. Are you just saying that, or have you got inside information? Just remember there has been one Rom upgrade (1.66) already which never saw the light of day from O2.

You need to perform a hard-reset in order to see it...

According to some people reports, you can't downgrade once on 1.72 Beta. Right now I'm on 1.72 but I have not tried to downgrade so I can't confirm this.

Hi All,
I need your help, I screwed up my XDA by installing different ROM.
I lost everything now.
Bootloader still works.
I tried applying O2 Official Roms, but when i run the setup,
Radio_Unit_Upgrade_v31703.exe (downloaded from O2 website)
it cant connect to the phone. (Phone is Bootloader mode / and plugged into the USB cradel)
I got HimaUpgradeUt.exe, but i have no idea How to install the ROm using this utility? Also where i get the ROM file from?
Any ideas what do i need, how can install my original ROM?

I got these ROM Upgrade downloads from O2 website by entering in my IMIE number and O2 Mobile number. :?
The rom version you're using sounds like the one for xda1 which obviousley won't work on an xda2i.
The rom on the O2 UK site for xda2i is 1.10.124

yes, it should be no problem on doing that... only that you loose your warranty

I just got an Orange 3100 German unit, and want to upgrade it with the English ROM. I understand that you did this from English to English. Which RUU did you use? Is your device still SIM-Locked?

No, and I checked diferent BB versions. I was thinking to modificate the version that appears on the nb file but not sure how to do and if I could brick my device ...
I suppose when the release be official in germany, tmobile will provide a correct client.
On the other side I hear imate offer some new v. 4 client for BB but I couldnt obtain.
So you checked versions 4.x already available ??

yes, and no result. Looks the checking of the device for version 4 is more sophisticated as for version 2 and there isn't -i couldn't find- a workaround. With WM5 I was running 2 weeks with BB4, with a clue on the AKU but later it disconnect as for everybody except -looks- hermes. Or in other words, RIM blocks us.
It seems I'd to wait for Tmobile. I can not live without that :-(

I tried installing version 4 BB on my t-Mobile Ameo and it gets stuck on windows mobile screen after installing on WM6.
I want to install WM5 Again and try it with that.
Does anybody know where you can get the original t-mobile wm5 rom?

c0rnholio: do you think editing the head file extracted from nb should be possible to change the name or type of the device? I say this because look Hermes runs BB 4, but I don't know if editing on this way could generate unwanted problems with the upgrade or devices in the pda.

I also thought about this but I don't know if it will work. I think we have to ask one of the flashing-gurus on how to make a Athena look like a Hermes...

I tried the Indian (SEA-English) version of the ROM. I dont see any difference in the ROM. Also I see that the Rom Version is lower than what we had before.
CE OS 5.2.1437 (Build 17944.0.3.1)
ROM Version : 2.19.707.4
ROM Date : 07/06/07
Radio Version : 1.45.00.10
Protocol Version: 32.78.7020.19H
ExtROM Version : 2.19.707.101
Is this worth the upgrade

Stuck On Boot Loader
Can you guys help me out, I was not able to do the upgrade because I git the error "invalid vender id". I read NOW that I need to unlock the cid first? I was trying to do so but I cannot get out off the screen that says SERIAL.
I tired a hard reset and it still goes to the same screen. Is there something else I can do??
Is the windows live working in this new version?

i think u need to flash the right version for yr model if u haven't unlock cid.

Thanks royalman, I finally got it out of the bootloader but now I cannot get it to do the automatic cid unlock. It freezes the x7500 when I run the SSPL-HERM. Am I using the wrong unlocker program> I downloade the Hard-SPL(2).zip but like I said it freezes. When I skip the SSPL-HERM file and go straight to the unlock app it does unlock the cid. Than I wait 10sec and soft reset. Than I try to install w6 and I STILL get the error "INVALID VENDER ID"
What am I doing wrong?

Got it working now,it's at 5 percent.
I ran into the same situation two weeks ago and the way out is to winrar the exe file and, while in the bootloader, use the update file for the ROM you previously had.
