How can we listen to the radio in XDA or pocket pc? - MDA, XDA, 1010 General

Hi everyone !
Does anyone know how can we listen to the radio on XDA or pocket pc like a nokia mobile phone? If we can, which software do we use and where can we get it?
Thank in advance,

The only possibility to hear radio via the device is using a webradio over GPRS. But i think, it would be a very expensive method to ge some music from the device...

That will not work with the XDA. The XDA only have an SD-slot and not an required SDIO-slot. So this card will only work with the new XDA II device...

It doesn't work on the XDA it's an SDIO SD-Radio

Wazza...
There are plenty of cheap chinese radio headsets available, but you cant control them via your xda, only manually! And some of them do not support muting on incoming calls, so you need to press some buttons on the headset to mute the music...

Hi All
If anyone is interested I am working with Energy Radio who are Launching on October 1st 2004 at 8am.
We will have a custom page for anyone using the SPV M1000 / XDA II. Currently we are running a test broadcast on a specific IP address and port and found it works really well, if anyone would be interested in trying it for us I would be happy to chat with you.
Just got the M1000 from Orange UK on thursday and have fallen in love with it!
Ben

I would be interested to try it on... Please pm me or send me e-mail with details.
Paul

I just use a wap connection and a internet url. If you have t-mobile it's free.
Hope I could help

Reply from Japan.
Dear Mr.Chris Ogden,
Thank you for your inquiry.
We are planning to release SD-Radio two months from now.
Your model XDA II is Pocket PC2003 base, so basically
it should work. However, SDIO driver(SDIO Now!) is also required.
Since we haven't experienced your model so far, we are not sure whether
XDA II supports SDIO Now! or not.
Furthermore,
Sorry to inform you but, at the moment, our online-shop supports to domestic
Japan only. So if you are not living in Japan we can't support.
If SDIO Now! is support on XDA II and you are in Japan, please let us know.
We will inform you as soon as SD-Radio is ready to ship.
Our products price are as follows:
SD-Link11b : 12600yen (Excluding the postage)
SD-Radio : 3765yen (Excluding the postage)
If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us.
Kind regards,
C-guys Online-shop

Hi.
Given the limited battery life of the XDA's and the cost of streaming over GPRS (if possible),
maybe the best solution is hardware? try: http://www.wavehunter.com/hfreerdo.htm
I haven't tried it myself, so I don't know if/how well it works.
Good luck!

TV Remote Controller v.5.5 for only $5

Hello
I got the software and the serial number for it as well. The software works like a charm. I have tried it on both PPC 2002 and WM 2003. I use the xda 1(does not work with XDA-2) and the range is limited to 6 feet but the fuctionality of the software more than covers for the range limitation. It can be downloaded from the following link:
http://www.pdawin.com/TVremote.exe
 The software also has an exceptional voice recognition capability. Has a built in capability with 30 devices and can be programmed to be compatible with 30 more(In less that 2 mins). For complete summary of the program visit
http://www.pdawin.com
 The software is for $14USD at pda win and i am giving it for only $5. Buzz me if u want the serial for the software and i will contact you with the payment details.
Why does it not work on the XDA II?
I really would like such software
I've tried to different ones a while back and they never worked. The plan was to flick the channels while pretending to update my diary! Confuse the hell out of someone!
The people at pdawin are working on some sort of program for the xda 2. it will be out soon. I hope.
yeah people say that the ir in the xda2 is not an default ir like the one on xda1 so it dont work with the remote programs but since ir is ir it should be possible to make one which works on xda2
but that dont solve the issue i had with the xda1 as a remote which was that it's max range was 30cm which dont make it all that remote
of cause i cant say if the xda2's ir is stronger
Has nobody else noticed that this person is asking for $5 for the serial number to software that normally sells for $14, shouldnt the revenue be going to the software author?
I have tried VITO Remote for IR Emote Control and VITO Oscilloscope to display IR waveforms and neither works on the imate/XDAII - the developer is still working on it
Call me a nerd but I think a IR remote on the XDA II would be pretty cool. Esp for changing the channel while you are out and about
Call me a nerd but I think a IR remote on the XDA II would be pretty cool. Esp for changing the channel on 'other tv's' while you are out and about
Are you the software creator just selling the software direct ??, otherwise it isnt right that you are charging people $5 for a hacked serial number
Well you'd have to be silly to send this guy any money me thinks.
As far as I can tell there'll never be a working tv remote software for the xda 2. Though it might be possible to use any other if u replaced the actual IR hardware itself.... anyone had any thoughts on this?
Sorry u guys were right no money for the damn thing. Just send me a mail and i'll give you the serial no.
P.S.
I don't know about changing the hardware. Lots of warranty problems and personally i don't want to take the risk for a 5ft range remote control. But it would be fun to try it on a damaged unit though.

sorry bout posting that....i take it back!and im also in favor of free softwares!so dats y i gav u da link!
I am also in favor of free software - IF THE AUTHOR INTENDED FOR IT TO BE FREE!
There are many of us on this forum who make our living as software authors/programmers. Stealing software like you are advocating simply encourages us to take our development efforts to another platform. That results in another handy program NOT being written for PPC.
hey u r absolutely right!and i dont have anyright to post that!i take it back...and i apologise for doing dat.....

I totally respect your opinion but having said that the software should be available to people. You know once it happened that i wanted to download something and had to make a donation for it I was ready and then tried to do it but paypal didn't work I contacted the author and he never replied so i looked for some cracks and finally got them.
:?: One othe thing I am getting so many requests from people for the serial that i am thinking about posting it on this forum :?: What do you say :?:

Melbourne Aust. XDAII users must read this!!!

Please. I need to find someone with a working XDAII so that I can fool the Upgrade Utility so that I can flash with correct ROM.
My XDA II has been damaged by downgrading after TMob ROM v1.72. Changed model ID so I need a working XDA II so I can use it for Upgrade program to detect as correct model number.
(see post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=8606 solution 1.)
If anyone in Melbourne AUST would allow me to stick my device in your cradle it would be greatly appreciated.
Looks more like they are going to stick their device into your cradle
What makes you say that?
I can simply take an upgrade with me on mass storage device. All I ask is for someone with a cradle & XDA II to run the upgrade utility.
Doesn't matter who's cradle it is... Whoever is kind enough to help will be limited the inconvienience by me going to them. (Wherever you are... in Melb AU)
i know that my post is likely to be as little of use as cairo31male's and
i admit that i had to phycialy restrain myself from making a simalar replay but to make his replay's reason try reading this

hope you find somebody one day .... hmmm or something
Yes, it was indeed intended as joke, as Rudegar put it: "with a dirty tounge in cheek state of mind "
But it is true that it would be simpler to use your own cradle on your own computer. That way, you would only need the other device for 2 minutes to start the upgrade, then the other person can leave and you would leave your device in the cradle for the rest of the process (up to 1 hour).
The other way round would be easier for the other party, as you will go to them, but they will have to wait for 1 hour for your upgrade to finish.
Okey dokey, i'm in Melbourne with a XDAII. I'm on the road quite a bit so won't be easy to sort out a time, but what the hell....i'll do my best
Drop me a line at [email protected] and we'll see what we can figure out.
Cheers - Steve
Thanks
thanks to the ppl who replied (productively) to this post. Your offers were well appreciated however I have put my XDA II in for repair as this solution would only be temporary.

Hey buddy, I love free software, but I love and need this forum more. In short stop posting cracked software!!!!
well just out of curiosity......
Does this software actually work on the xda/xda II ???
Well I know that the IR of the xda is very weak...but still does it actually work...even if at 30-50 cm of the device?
No it doesn't work... or even works well even if it does.
it works on xda1 but not on xda2 at least the remote programs i've tried
The software will work really well on the XDA-1 and the range is about five feet but the IR of the XDA 2 is really weak and so it dosen't work.
yea, but who watches tv from 5 feet away?
My xda 1 works from a lot more than 5 feet on infra red.
Really!!
This program work well but for my XDA can support only 1 f. how can I use for 5 feet?
go to their site
and look under IR extenders i could never get more range the 30cm
http://www.pdawin.com/tvremote.html
As I said, my xda operates the tv from one side of the bedroom, the tv is in the corner, I would say 8 feet at least, maybe different units get better output or maybe the tv is very sensitive to infrared beams. :?: :?:
my tv was a
philips 28" widescreen something something
on the top of my head i could not find any profiles for it
so i put my xda1 in learning mode and did it that way
of cause maybe i put the remote too close and that resulted in the weak signal from the xda or something
as far as i know then the problem is not with the xda2 being too weak when it comes to IR but that it follow another std then the ir in xda1 and most other pda's which mean that a remote program would have to be rewritten to work with that std to run on xda2's
Why do'nt you clowns stop ogling over your xda and just use the bloody remote! I mean c'mon.
maybe the mrss's will not give it back ?
Thats true. Or maybe its lost down the side of the sofa.
My mistake. I apologise wholeheartedly. Bring on the XDA Remote, I say.
....And cracked software?? Tell me one home user that does not have copied software on his machine?
The developers will just have to make it harder to copy.

[Q] Mozart and tomtom

Hi folks!
Anyone added tomtom navigator yet at all? If so, is it much of a nutache to do what with there not being an external storage card?
If possible, could someone kindly add a handy step-by-step for those (such as myself!) not used to such a thing?
Many thanks in advance if you can assist, TSS

you cant install cabs on the mozat, all the window usefullness (did i just say that!!!) of the 6.5 has been taken out and it has been made like iphones and android so from what i can see you can only use stuff from market place at the mo. I so hope im wrong and have missed something but its not looking like anything will be compatible from our beloved hd2s etc.

On a satnav note, i did read that the update due in jan 2011 will have a satnav but im guessing orange uk may block the satnav as they are doing there own satnav for 5 queens heads a month. at the mo it doesnt work but they do try and sell it still knowing it dont work.

i cant believe orange did that! i recently upgraded and went with the mozart having being told it came with satnav only to find out after that it didnt work and that i'd have to pay £5 for the priv when it did...after a quick call and the threat of cancelling my upgrade i now will have it for free (when it works!) but still have to pay £2 a month for the pro version (speed cams and live traffic info).
Though i think i'd still buy tomtom when its released...think there working on it at the mo.

Im gonna have to have stearn words with orange as they sold me the satnav but only refunded me the money for the month they charged me for. i cant beleive they were selling it in the knowledge it didnt work on wp7. im just hoping the devs get there heads round this os and start cooking so we can see what these things can do!! and on the satnav note again im hoping igo comes our way as it makes tomtom look like a 1940s map of the isle of whight, its something that makes me think of going back to my hd2.

For the people who didn't received the SmartTag in the package

I've wrote many times to different supports, but the one who gave me the right address was on facebook.... Well they did a web page where you have to compile a form including your imei, and they will send at home for free the two smart tags.
This is the site for italy:
http://www.accessorisony.it/smarttags/index.html
Maybe you can find the right one for your state.

Got the cable with mine, and I got2 smarttags with mine. Not particularly useful at the moment, but i'll keep them as the need for them may arise in the future.
Sent from my Xperia S via transwarp beacon.
Got my simfree, i assumed from seeing unboxing videos before the official release that we would get at least 2 in the box... Fair enough but why dont sony release the accessories at the same time as the phones?
Bought mine in Malaysia and got bundled Livesound headphones, sony branded car charger, HDMI cable & 2 NFC tags.
