Bluetooth superiority - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

Dear all,
Going through many threads on BT functionality on WM2003SE, this memory just flashed back. I remember there was a permanently displaying (new) BT icon next to the signal strength icon when I was using WM2003SE V.2.02 (DCS's) and was impressed by its fast call transferability (no delay phone -> headset). Such icon disappears in the version 2.06. Now, there is only the 1.72-identical headset BT icon that only will display when there is an incoming call and it delays the transferabilty of calls to the headset
My question is, does anyone know what specific software do I have to reinstall to the v2.06 to reactivate such BT headset connectivity. If so, please also post the file. Thanks in advance .
Cheers,

HI
you need to go "back" to 2.02t ROM.
For some reason, is THE ONLY ROM around with a minimum BT support.

Do you have the registry of 2.02? I've been attempting to get a copy so that I can port over the good stuff of 2.02 to 2.06 and issue a CAB patch to help things along. Seems that no one is interested...

Since 2.20CHS is the most stable. I have uploaded the registry of 2.20 if you are interested.
FYI,
For the BT Handsfree option to appear.
You will need to have this registry key around.
\HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Buletooth\HandsfreeProfileOn

I meant it for 2.06 ROM users to have Handsfree option appearing in the Bluetooth Window.

Sorry to hear that. I was hoping folks would just compare it against 2.02/2.06 and deduce the enhancements entries.

Sad and sorry
Sorry to hear that folks.
Has anyone checked the option?
Why the "stereo behaviour"?
Any idea on how to fix it?
My few days experience with 2.02t1 is that it is a bit unstable, and BT handsfree produces the stereo effect on BOTH microphone AND headset.
Furthermore the relevance of the headset icon on top and the "BT headset enabled/disabled" message in today screen is a complete mistery. For my handsfree BT car kit to operate, I need to select handsfree in the BT devices menu, then "headset" icon appears, so it's confusing. Plus, if you have both, handsfree and headset devices active simultaneously, there is no way for you to know wich one has the priority.
We need some manual or the like. Has anyone some instructions available?

resco registry
can anyone please send the registry file to use with resco registry?
please...
thanks
RG

I am on 2.06 and the handsfree is not ideal at all. The only thing that really work for me in handsfree mode is when I want to have two party on my end . Since the audio comes out of the BT set and the handset simultaneously, it's great for local conferencing with a remote party.
Since I also have the BT Tools installed, it may had confused the issue.
In the end I switched off the HandsfreeProfileOn by renaming it to OFF. Use Headset mode and all is fine.
I also noticed that in Handsfree mode, it will switch off my BT headset POWER when I hang up the call and that is totally out for me.....
In the mean time, That could be all that we have with the current BT drivers.
I would hope the BT can do the followings:
-Stream Audio from the XDAII
-Real Handstree mode to work with Voice Command
-Buttom assignment on the BH device

Bt still needs improuvement
Hi, I fully agree with your "BT wishes".
It looks like the fact that no "official" 2003 SE release is available for XDA II, is related to the fact that BT support is not yet fully implemented.
Maybe 2.20 versions solves that, but time being I've been embarrased too wearing my head set in one ear, and my XDA in the other... kind of sillyness...
Since I do NOT have BT Tools installed, I think this is not the issue, but again, those are poor implementations of the Handsfree profile.
We are getting closer, but obviously not there yet.

hi
I recently bought a plantronics pulsar 590a Bluetooth strereo headset
and I have Prophet Shadow Vista Clean<UC-Capable>"a Colaboration Rom with iiiox"(08.3.08)

what setting or program should I use to send the music over the bt and raise the quality ?
thanks.
Srs Wow Hd
I also recently bought a plantronics pulsar 590a Bluetooth strereo headset
I am using "ShadoW 2.0 TE Vista My Edition".
I can suggest you SRS WOW HD I attached..
thank you very very much
but how do you send the music to the stereo BT ?
BT settings
I know so far log way
Goto BT settings-->Device..
Press long to 590Plantronics..
A menu will open..
Click "Set as wireless Stereo"
For using SRS WOW HD, reboot your device after installation..
Goto Settings-->System-->WOW HD Settings
another way..
Or if you use BatteryStatus, activate tray launch and then click BT icon and click A2DP
be carefull with this tool. You should deactivate afer use, because many people already said, that this tool force your speaker too much, and the speaker will break.
John
thank you all very much
the quality is fantastic and I think it's even better than the adaptor itself.
I was just about to ask if I should leave it enabled or not.
then you said it. thanks

For the optimal result with your bt headset i recommend you Shaps Advanced Configuration Tools (see developers forum). With my SonyEricsson HBH-DS970 the sound quality is much better then using srs wow.

I don't use this tool, but installed version 2.02.0.2.0 to have look at its settings. Under Bluetooth i find 7 different types of settings. One of them is Use Joint Stereo, I guess thats the one you need, but I don't know for sure. I'm not very familiar with Bluetooth. The other setting are relate to the Bitpool.... no idea what that means!
ok first of all thanks a alot for your response and your patience

WM6.1 Bluetooth Issues

Hi,
We now have 3 startreks in the house all of which are running erofich's WM6.1, and all have the same bluetooth problem.
It will pair and connect to a handsfree device - both a headset and a tomtom, and both display as 'handsfree' devices in the settings. When a call comes through it rings in the headset to alert you to the call, but when you press answer, it disconnects the bluetooth headset and disables the bluetooth, and leaves the call coming through the phone instead and still connected.
Does anyone have any experience of this, is it a known WM6.1 bug or is it something we've done to it?
I thought it was just me.... I had it happen to me with two different headsets, although instead of just disconnecting, the phone would lock up. Went back to 6.0 which seems to be fine.
Hi,
you are not alone. I have the same problems with my hands-free car kit. If there is an incoming call the telephone just disconnect the Blutetooth connection. Iam running WM 6.1 Pro. Is there anybody with a solution?
cheers for replies, at least its not just me and its not just the WM6.1 standard but the pro as well.
I dont have any problems with bluetooth.
However im running my own modded ROM based on Gnats 6.1 clean ROM.
His version has no bluetooth problems.
I should say none that I know of.
When a call comes through it rings in the headset to alert you to the call, but when you press answer, it disconnects the bluetooth headset and disables the bluetooth, and leaves the call coming through the phone instead and still connected.

Tim, you are not alone...Me too
I have exactly the same problem...
It's strange....
It seems to be a problem with Erofich's version of it - i swapped over to Gnats 6.1 and it works fine now.
Probably should be added to the known bugs list.
im using wm6.1 pro and it works great! even has the thumbnail on the smaller LCD!
when i hit ans on the BT headset, audio goes to headset
when i flip open the phone, audio goes to phone
GnatGoSplat rom solve my problem..

Till I have flash my phone by GnatGoSplat rom.
The problem was gone...
PS: I have two Handset ( One Motorola and the other one China Ibox)
In the Erofich rom, the motorola handset work fine and the Ibox leaves the call coming through the phone instead and still connected.
And now, with GnatGoSplat rom, they work fine...
Baffled why Bluetooth is not working for some
I have Erofich's 6.1 Standard, and the Motorola S9 stereo headset, and it works AWESOME! My music cuts outs sometimes for a nanosecond, but it did with the regular one year bluetooth earpiece on the Cingular factory ROM as well. I am not sure what other programs you have installed that may be conflicting with the Bluetooth.
Just to try and see if we are experiencing the same issue, maybe not.....
(HTC Hermes thread)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=396314
"differences between 6.0 and 6.1 pairing process"
Where do I find gnatgosplat's latest WM6.1 ROM?
In his thread there are only 3 WM6.0 roms.. there's a note saying that WM6.1 has been removed and put in its own thread, but I can't find it!
Bluetooth on erofich's room is flaky, but I like the WM6.1 sliding panels...
Handsfree problems
I'm having this same problem with my Dock n Talk station. Using GnatGoSplat's Clean 6.1 ROM, it pairs with the DNT and I can dial out (which means there is a connection because I am dialing from my cordless home phone connected to the DNT), but as soon as the call connects, the call switches to the cell and drops the handsfree (and Menu/Switch to handsfree has no effect). I had the same problem with Erofich's 6.1 ROM and tried Gnat's per the above suggestions, but there's no change.
I also have a Plantronics headset which works properly.
Any ideas? I'll try going to a 6.0 ROM tomorrow and see if that fixes it.
Following up...

After trying multiple versions of 6 and 6.1 ROMs, I found that none of them work with my DNT - I reverted back to the original WM5 ROM (Cingular 3125) and it works fine again. From looking at other boards, it's possible that a firmware update to the DNT might fix it, but I wonder what's so different about how WM6 handles bluetooth handsfree devices.
Has anybody had any luck in pairing a Motorola S9 BT headset with HTC StarTrek?
I've tried with Erofich's standard and pro roms, as well as with Pampooch's one (btw xcelent home screen, liked it very much).
No luck. Either the phone detects the headset, but doesn't want to pair with it, or, more often, doesn't want to find any devices at all (like the BT interface hanged r stopped responding).
It's my sis phone.
Help or I'll die

Hi, I'm currently running Erofich's PRO V2, and I have no bluetooth issues. But every rom I tried before that, including V9c and V7b, I could beam, but not recieve files via bluetooth. I'm waiting for it to be fixed, then I can switch back to std versions.
Solution?
See if this helps. http://rapidshare.com/files/260467849/STAR100_WM61v9c.zip.html, or the full rom- http://rapidshare.com/files/260467849/STAR100_WM61v9c.zip.html.It's the OS.nb file from Erofich's v9c, but I replaced the bluetooth files with the ones from GnatGoSplat's 6.1 ROM. I can't test it because I have no other device at hand. I apologise in advance if it doesn't work. Please add a mirror if it does though, It can only be downloaded ten times.

This is a freeware tool that can be used to route the audio from the earpiece speaker to the backspeaker and vice versa.
A good addon for VoIP utilities.
Compatibility
Windows Mobile pocket pc or smartphone.
Usage
Install the CAB and use the titlebar icon to open the user interface.
The first icon routes the audio to the earpiece speaker.
The second blue icon, can be used to route the audio to the backspeaker.
The orange icon, routes the audio to the speakerphone, while in a phone call.
You can also use the bottom slider to move the taskbar icon, or the about button to show this page.
The top-right square hides the user interface.
Command line
This tool can be executed by command line with parameters.
You can execute /program files/teksoft/audioRoute/audioRoute.exe with the following:
-earpiece , routes the audio to the earpiece
-backspeaker , routes the audio to the backspeaker
-speakerphone , while in a phone call, activates the speakerphone
-switch , toggles between earpiece and backspeaker
Code:
audioroute.exe -earpiece
audioroute.exe -backspeaker
etc.
Download
To manage updates easier, I won't attach the cab here, instead feel free to download it using this link.

Anyway, this looks like a great, professional app... My only question is will this interfere w/ the way my phone automatically switches off the speakers when I put in the USB audio adapter and uses that? And will the speakerphone button on the HTC dialer app still work? If I exit this app, will everything go back to normal and automatically ajust?
I'm using an ATT Fuze.
Thanks!

Thanks. I plan to make it even better. I have a very short compatibility list atm, so I can't say much about the Fuze, only to guess that it should work. You can test it, if something goes wrong simply uninstall it, and everything will go back to previous state. There are no permanent effects of using it.

Okay, that's what I was looking to hear. Thanks. I'm gonna download it and and give it a shot w/ Skype.
Looks great, but doesn't route the sound to the earpiece.
I also have DynRILv1.1.cab installed, when I use the Dynamic RIL Interface. The phone can route the sound to the earpiece.
Does audioRoute uses the same dll then the DynnRILv1.1.cab?
My phone is a HTC Diamond
It doesn't seem to work with HTC diamond+skype. I still hear everything from loudspeaker.
A suggestion from me: place a quit button so that we can quit the program when we don't need it. Instead, create a shortcut on Start->Programs for us to start it when we need. The S icon can be pretty irritating as my diamond has lots of icons on top already.

Also I'll add a quit button and the shortcut in programs.

Reviewing the audioRoute 1.2.010
Reviewing the audioRoute 1.2.010
It's really hard to believe that any VoIP client who play the sound just only on the loud speakerphone will become a real cellular telephony alternative. Everyone who got to be a VoIP nerd know the importance of routing the voice on the earpiece, and know this is the Microsoft Windows Mobile fatal weakness comparing with NOKIA and iPhone platform capabilities.
The first company who did some research and progress with Windows Mobile in routing the voice to earpiece was Ageet (with AGEphone). But even the today Mobile AGEphone 2.7x is still far from perfect. The small number of hardwares capable in playing AGEphone on earpiece keep the potential of VoIP technology on a very low scale. Another group who anticipated the importance in routing the voice to earpiece was FRING. Unfortunately, FRING developers team didn't learn that a VoIP application if missing a Dial-pad and DTMF, is incomplete. And the same with AGEphone, the FRING routing voice approach is not running well with all Windows Mobile hardwares. On the other hand, some few phone manufacturers get importance to the earpiece and released customized Microsoft VoIP clients to play the voice correctly.
Until now, there is no general solution, no panacea in routing the sound, so Windows Mobile just hopes.
An excellent approach came on xda-developers by routing the sound from speaker to earpiece with a RIL API sequence. The troca2.exe and audioswitch.exe must be mentioned.
When releasing the DynRIL sources, Teksoft came on the spot. The latest soundswitch product - audioRoute 1.2.010 is empowered with a stylish interface and appear as a very nice must-have software for Windows Mobiles. Unfortunately, the latest release of DynRIL doesn't work as good as previous version. At least, not on TiOMAP850 platforms. I am curious to know if, or on what hardwares, the new DynRIL API sequence have been reported to respond correctly as designed. Let's hope is just a bug, not a set back.
The new audioRoute 1.2.010 came with some innovative improvements: instead build a monolith that run the RIL API sequence, Teksoft released a RIL wrapper, an audioroute-switch that can be also accessed by scripts, and a try-icon executable designed to manage the playing sound-instances from speaker to earpiece.
The try icon interface can be dragged on taskbar, and some hidden features can reveal more if modifing some HKLM\Software\Teksoft\audioRoute\ properties. For example, if want to really know what is happening when tapping the audioRoute buttons, you may enable the EnableDebug to “1”, on Registry.
What personally I consider a downgrade when compare with downloaded DynRIL v1.1 is the missing of a "quit" option (you can only kill the try-icon executable) and also the missing of the coloured sound-routed instances.
Now, you are not informed what instances are active with the new interface.
DynRIL v1.1 had the following improvements:
- Started switching on earpiece directly;
- Colored the taskbar-rectangle accordingly with the instances, especially needed when sound was routed to the earpiece;
- Switched back to load-speaker on exit;
(incomplete) Hardvares list reported to work with: DynRIL v1.1
More necessary customization is expected to be implemented - like tracking the microphone in use, or activating RILInit sequence with a customized list of third-party applications. Are those higher expectations than ever? I don't think so.
Let's hope Teksoft will correct the known buggs and improve this must-have baby.
Congratulations radhoo !
Thank you.
tucahara
I tried dynril 1.1 and Audioroute.
It seems Audioroute doesn't work at all. Pressing those tree icons doesn't change a thing. I have Polaris with 3Lit3 VI FULL ROM if that is important.
Dynril routes sound to internal speaker but it seems that sound is still on external speaker too, just much quieter than before. Same thing is when I use enable earpiece in Fring.
Can somebody explain me that?
Thank you

I have a Bluetooth Car Kit but it seems that bluetooth only works with phonecalls. I use a Internet Radio app and would like to route the audio through the car kit rather than having my SGS2 on the dashboard, listening via the onboard speaker.

Actually this is something I'd like to do as well. My car bluetooth shows as "Phone Audio" in BT settings if I could amend this Profile so it plays any music through the car this would be great!
On the standard player if you press the menu button you get a "Via Bluetooth" option fo this.

If I'm on a call and I play a MP3/or a text message comes through it plays over bluetooth audio.
I have the Motorola T505 car kit and route music (or phone calls) from my SGS2 to car's stereo speakers. Use pretty much every day to and from work; listen to Pandora or stored songs via Neutron player. Is this what you are ultimately trying to do?
My device has a push-button that syncs the device to a chosen FM channel; I then tune to this channel. The trick is finding one that offers lower static. Did not perform any other on-phone settings but can look tomorrow morning if helpful.
Sound quality could be better (much, much), but it's great to be able to hear my own selections.
Hope this helps.
I am particularly trying to use TuneIn (tunein.com) which streams radio stations over the net but there are a growing number of radio stations supplying Android and iPhone apps

Hey, that's a cool looking app (just looked up); will be downloading.
Hmmm, I have not come across any BT audio device that does not support both voice and audio, and I have several. Does your car kit doc state that it supports both (and maybe FM pass-through)?
Regardless of FM pass-through, have you tried completely removing the paring and then repairing? Reason I ask is because I just flashed a new ROM and kernel to my phone, and when I paired the Sony HBH-IS800 earphone (my gym rig), it showed the paired-connected symbol but when I started music, it played though the phone speakers only. When I checked the profile, it read "Connected to phone." I then deleted the paring, rebooted for safe measure, and repaired. This time, the profile read "Connected to phone and media audio". Was the first time ever seeing this with a BT pairing.
Something to try at any rate....

As I was saying..... I've only seen one bluetooth kit that's phone only; the poster's screen shot above... Sorry sir, had never heard of Blueconnect (is it nice?).
I actually skipped over your post as was more responding to the OP, for which I am still uncertain which car kit is being used.
When shopping for a car kit, I keyed on the ones that advertised being FM transmit capable.
TuneIn claim to support Bluetooth but there are a few posting on the web from other TuneIn users with this same issue. TuneIn suggested I speak to by BT device manufacturer - a device for which I have feck all details. It works fine for phonecalls and worked fine with music on a previous WinMo phone. I think WinMo had options to allow BT to be used for more than just phonecalls. There are very few (none !) options within the Bluetooth menu. Thought I might have been able to Long Press on a paired device to get into further options but

If the OT screen shots the same setting I guess it will say the same.
Nah its **** but its a company car and I had no choice.
Though if I can get it to play music through it I will be a happy chap

Question Maps navigation forces Bluetooth, not speaker, ONLY on my Pixel 6

Hi folks,
I've scoured the web and haven't found an answer on Google Maps support, and I think this is specific to the Pixel 6 because two other phones I have don't do this.
My Pixel 6 (still on January update, completely stock, no root or other mods) won't let me use the phone speaker for Google Maps navigation. It ALWAYS puts the sound through the bluetooth connection to the car it's paired with. I don't want that, I want the navigation voice to use the phone speaker (because I usually use the car radio, not bluetooth audio, and when the car is in radio mode any voice directions sent over bluetooth aren't heard).
The "answer" I always find is to turn off "play voice over bluetooth" but I've ALREADY DONE THAT.
In Maps, Account, Settings, Navigation settings, Sound&Voice, here is the setting on my phone:
{

"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

You can see voice over bluetooth is toggled off. I've tried turning it on then off again, no effect. It always sends voice over bluetooth.
I'm convinced somewhere in the Pixel it's trapping all audio when paired and sending it over bluetooth, aside from this specific screen. Where would the setting be to turn it off. I've tried two other android phones, one on Android 11 and on on Android 9, and neither do this.
This is driving me crazy, literally. The only fix is to turn off bluetooth, but then phone pairing of course doesn't work for calls and messages. Help!
Yep, same here and it's annoying.
I started a thread on the google community:
Navigation won't use speaker; uses bluetooth even when "play voice over bluetooth" is disabled - Google Maps Community

Interesting! I found one other report similar to mine, also on a Pixel (a 4 I think) besides this thread. I bet there is some Pixel specific setting somewhere I need to toggle.
@a g bell by any chance have you taken the February update? I have held off on it due to reports of wifi issues... I wonder if this is fixed in February's update?
Yes l have the latest Feb patch from last week
Hmmm... Maybe it's worth me risking taking the update then.
So, I updated to the February update but no joy on this Maps issue. No change at all before/after update.
It's actually quite interesting, and inexplicable. I did a test sitting in my office, with Bluetooth "on" but not paired to any devices. No sound from the speaker when I play the test sound.
Next I turned off bluetooth entirely in the connection settings. Then, going back in to Navigation settings and playing a test sound gets the proper speaker sounds.
Turning bluetooth back on (but again, not paired with anything) results in no speaker sound for the Test Sound in Maps.
All other audio on the phone is fine; nothing else is being trapped and sent to a nonexistent bluetooth connection.
I've been doing the following as a workaround.
Locate the bluetooth settings on your phone for your vehicle and turn off media audio. Your phone call will still go through your vehicle speakers and your navigation audio will go through your phone.
You unfortunately will not be able to listen to bluetooth music from your phone over your vehicle speakers with that setting disabled.
I just hope Android 13 is not as big of a failure as Android 12 has been.
I've found a "sort of workaround for some situations."
After some playing around, I got to the point where, with bluetooth turned on, but nothing connected (just me and my phone in my office, no bluetooth devices connected), I was getting the navigation voice over the phone speaker. Yay.
Of course, going into my car, and connecting via bluetooth, the voice stopped, being forced over bluetooth even though I had turned off "Play voice over bluetooth" in the navigation settings (and, my car is in radio mode, so anything coming over bluetooth audio wouldn't be played on the car speakers).
Anyway, I found that on my phone, if I go into the specific bluetooth connection (in my case, titled "Toyota Highlander") and tap the gear next to it representing settings, and toggle off the "Media audio" option (while keeping phne calls, contact sharing, and text messages enabled), then the navigation voice stays on the speaker.
This isn't ideal since now and then I like to stream audio to the bluetooth audio of the car, but MOST of the time I just use the radio, and for now it makes sense to settle for nav voice working and if I want to stream audio, manually enable it in settings.

Great minds think alike. I was posting exactly this just as you were posting it!!
I saw on another forum that it is working on Android 13 DP1. When beta rolls around, I guess I'll try it, unless google fixes Android 12.
I received an update to Android 12 today that I believe is the same as 12.1 and preliminary tests show that this issue has been fixed.

Which update was this? I've not received anything yet...
I have the 4a 5g and received 12.1 or 12L. Your 6 should receive it soon.
