Asia O2 Xda II WM 2003 SE Upgrade (Under Construction) - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

As I have seen many are still struggling with the upgrade or having post-upgrade problems I am posting this thread in hope of helping those Xda II owners from the O2 Asia affected or concerned.
The end result of the upgrade will be as follows.
ROM version: 2.06.00WWE
ROM date: 06/14/04
Radio version: 1.18
Protocol version: 1337.38
ExtROM version: 1.12.925WWE
DeviceData:
U S B 3 2 2 . 0 6 . 0 0 W W E P H 1 0 O 2 W W E 1 . 1 2 . 9 2 5 W W E 1 . 1 8 . 0 0
This upgrade has been performed on my Xda II which has a BootLoader 1.01 hence those with a later BootLoader please consider this thoroughly.

Errors
First off. If previous attempts have been fouled by the Country ID error obstacle please proceed with this step to rectify by reverting your Xda II back to original O2 state. Else skip this.
Download the compressed file attached, unzip and run HimaUpgradeUt.exe whilst your Xda II is docked and ActiveSynced.

Flash
Here is the upgrade proper.
Download the compressed file attached, unzip and if you are equipped, modify the Extended ROM to your fancy as you deemed fit.
Else run HimaUpgradeUt.exe whilst your Xda II is docked and ActiveSynced.

TBC
Will resume morrow with enhancements that are left out from the Extended ROM.
I have 'No Eye Deer' what the response would be like for this thread as what I only wish to offer is stability and reliability.
Anyways I would want to take this opportunity to thank all those involved and contributed in making WM 2003 SE on the Xda II a reality.

RE
OK brother of the same land!
I'll try it tonight. However, just a few ideas for your EXT ROM.
Is the bluetooth icon on Today's screen still playing hide-and-seek? I tried Buzz and another guy's solution (at othet threads) but they still don't work especially when switching from landscape-to-portrait and vice versa and performing other tasks when there's a need to do a screen refresh. If it works flawlessly for your PPC maybe you can incorporate into the EXT ROM depending on which version you're using.
Secondly, can incorporate the latest SDIO WiFi driver (just released) because I could not find the cab file for the EXT ROM installation.
Thirdly, can replace with colourful keyboard layout instead of the default mono keyboard? Not sure how to do it from the EXT ROM side.
I think the rest I can customize myself
Many thanks Dr.

Thanks for the support and feedback Bro.
Initially the reason behind me intentionally leaving out some of the cabinet files are so that users can customize to their own flavour but keeping those that are the backbone of a reliable and stable WM 2003 SE Xda II.
However your point is noted and I think it is a good idea. I am working on it now.

Revised Extended ROM
The Extended ROM has been revised to contain BlueTooth Today Profile Fix. Please redownload from the earlier post thank you.
As for the other enhancements as promised will be provided soon.
This thread is also for new Xda II users/owners who are keen on upgrading to WM2003SE but keep running into a wall or are clueless. Simply download and run the ROM and your Xda II should be up and running on WM2003SE.
Seasoned members who suffer from post-upgrade problems and issues please feel free to ask about customizing your own Extended ROMs and compatibilities.

RE
Hi Dr,
One thing I notice is that the SDIO WiFi cab file (the older version) is rather large and incorporating it into the EXT ROM wil mean you don't have enough EXT ROM memory for other cab files.
Quote
"Please download from first post thank you"
BTW I don't have the country ID error so should I download the O2.zip or the XDAIIx.zip? Are you saying the XDAIIx.zip do not have the bluetooth today profile fixl?
Thanks

Can i use extended rom unlocker and directly import the contents of the rom on my xda then make a hard reset or is it more advisable to re-flash the rom with se2?
Thanks!

Re: RE
As I have reiterated the enhancements will be attached in another post. It will include procedures to exploit the Storage folder as an Extended Extended ROM.

Bro you can download the XdaIIx.zip and upgrade as you do not have the Country ID Error. I have tweaked my ROM to default original O2 state so if you do run into the error than you should run the fix in the O2.zip file.
The revised Extended ROM now contains the BlueTooth Today Profile Fix.

If your Xda II is already running on WM2003SE 2.06.00WWE (neat - untouched) and has no issues or problems you may perform the former but if you do I strongly suggest the latter.

RE
Hi DR.
Once you've finished your new EXTROM could you upload as a zip file instead of the ms_.nbf file.
The reason is that we already have the main ROM and the radio installed so no point going through that process again. Using zip file I can further customize and install the files into my EXTROM and perform a hard reset to get the installation done.
Thanks.

Extended ROM
I shall upload both the ms_.nbf and *.zip files for ease of new owners/users and for seasoned ones respectively.

Thank you! I find this post really useful!
You can see A LOT of people getting VERY confused with all of the ROMs circulating on this site, especially with different dates of upgrade. I hope the other guys will also post their very latest ROMs that have been tested and improved.
Thanks again!

RE
OK guys!
Finally, I solved the mystery of why after loading the profile.dll (even in the EXT ROM) my Today bluetooth icon still disappears despite successful reports from other users.
What I've done was go to the EXT ROM (with the profile.dll loaded in it) and click on the profile.dll cab file. It'll ask you to soft reset your PPC and after which the bluetooth icon on the Today screen remains sticky FOREVER!
Now, the question is why during the booting up phase after a hard reset the profile.dll cab is not activated? Instead Ive to go to the EXT ROM to activate it after the complete installation?
DR, can you look into this? Does this happen to your installation?
Thanks

BTHS Today Profile
I believe Guru buzz_lightyear has already guided you to enlightenment on that.
Sorry folks I will be swamped these few days (what weekend?) but I will try my best to resume ASAP.

Hey bro Stein..
Great post for all those newbies and others who aren't clued in on the upgrading process...
may try upgrading as well over the weekend too...

Just to clarify Bro.
Where is this profile.dll from? Is it from buzz_lightyear (included in my Extended ROM) or elsewhere?

Customized 1.72.187 Extended ROM (No Blackberry)

I have received requests to customize the 1.72.187 UK ROM for Asian users. As requested, here it is.
This extended ROM is based on the latest UK release of 1.72.187, and was customized for asian users of the XDA II.
All the latest versions of the software in the base ROM are included, minus all O2 UK custom settings and software, however all configuration settings are set to the old Asian extended ROM version 1.60.44.
I also added the latest drivers/software for the Socket Communications SDIO Wifi card and the XDA II Thumb Keyboard which automatically install as a part of the post install tasks.
I had to remove the Java MIDlet Manager included in the base ROM since the size limit of the extended ROM was exceeded, and I also removed the O2 Active UI since it is customized for O2 UK users. I included the installer .CAB file for the MIDlet Manager in the .ZIP file so that it can be installed manually after the ROM upgrade if desired.
CHANGES from the other custom ROM (1.72.181):
1. Based on the UK ROM version 1.72.187
2. No Blackberry support
3. Added the ClearType font fix from ROM version 1.60.44
4. Added the Extended ROM Viewer patch (Extended ROM can now be seen in File Explorer)
I have already tested it on my Xda II and I had no problems with flashing it and I am currently experiencing no issues with it whatsoever.
THe download is available further down in this thread, I removed the old download because it was corrupted.

Would you consider to put in the SRS rotation and key as well?
Also, can you provide a brief guide for how to install the file?
The files you attached is just the nbf file. Also, what's the use for the password?
Thanks again.

When the SRS backporting to the Xda II is at its most stable stage, I will include it in the extended ROM, as of now I feel its still unstable, although I feel that the guys working on it are doing an excellent job (my personal opinion).
To use the file is just 3 steps:
1. Extract the contents of the original UK ROM update (Xda_II_172187_Final.exe) into any directory of your choice with WinZip.
2. Extract the ms_.nbf from the custom ROM I posted into the same directory that you extracted the files from step 1, overwriting the original ms_.nbf.
3. Run the HimaUpgradeUt.exe executable to flash your device.
The password is for users whou would like to further customize the ROM where openning it up requires a password. I only posted the extended ROM since it was the only part of the original ROM that was customized, and posting the entire ROM would just result in a larger download.
Many thanks.
Understood now.
Tried the ROM but have problem with my C-guys wifi card....
Not sure whether it is the wlan software has some conflicts with the C-guys driver, have uninstalled the wlan software and will try the C-guys card again.
where can find the ROM?

Customized WM2003SE Extended ROM - Asian Edition Version 2

This is a more stable extended ROM since it is based on the Asian O2 Xda IIs which is built for WM2003SE.
PLEASE READ, as I notice a lot of questions are already answered in this first post.
I have also noticed a lot of "how-to" questions which have already been answered in other areas in the forum. Before downloading this, I strongly advise to browse the forum first to get an idea of how to upgrade or flash your device.
This is a .ZIP file containing only the extended ROM, the files I removed (Xda IIs specific) and some programs from the other extended ROMs posted in the forum that I feel are useful.
The extended ROM version is 1.12.924 WWE and was successfully tested against the 2.06 main ROM and the 1.18 radio varsion.
The bootscreen will say "Xda IIs" after the extended ROM AutoRun is completed.
I added the following:
1. Camera Software (none was included in the stock Xda IIs ROM, but does not support landscape mode)
2. EmailWiz (e-Mail setup Wizard)
3. ClearType Tuner (for adjusting the cleartype fonts)
4. Extended ROM Viewer (registry patch to make the extended ROM visible in File Manager)
5. Xda II ThumbPad Keyboard Driver
6. Intellipad (cellphone-like input software)
7. Latest Socket SDIO Wi-Fi Driver (compatible with Socket and Sandisk)
8. CAB Installer Utility (copied as cabinstl.exe in the \Windows folder - just manually create a shortcut)
I removed the following (included in .ZIP file):
1. BA_Album_WWE.CAB (already included in Camera software)
2. Camera_Patch_10080401.sa.CAB (Xda IIs specific)
3. DelAddStarMenu_092404.sa.CAB (Xda IIs specific)
4. Java_V10.1.2.49_BA_WWE_0901_unremovable.CAB (took up too much space)
5. O2_Base_09240402.sa.CAB (Xda IIs specific)
6. o2_connect_iis.cab (Xda IIs specific)
Also included in the .ZIP file:
1. IntelliDialer_T-Mobile_WWE_RC10.CAB (Intellidialer fro dcs ROM)
2. IntelliPadCustomSkin.zip (custom skin for Intellipad included in ROM)
3. KSE2.08WWE_O2Limit_20040901.sa.CAB (KSE TruFax v2.08 for Xda II)
4. spb_gprs_v2.20(build487)_magician_wwe_1007_cid.cab (SPB GPRS Monitor from Magician ROM)

Hi ZeroZtreme!
I just installed the IIs version by Dr. Stein but could not have landscape mode as the 3rd button for camera was missing from the Buttons menu. My camera button could not be activated. The 3rd button place is now occupied by O2 Today and on the 5th line is Screen Rotate which is not there for the II version.
Does yours have these problems?
BTW, I thougt KSE Truefax latest version for O2 XDA II is v2.09?

The stock extended ROM for the Xda IIs does not come with the camera software, only a patch. The one I made includes the latest version of the camera software and dows not re-map the buttons for the IIs since I took out all the Xda IIs specific files.

I removed those 6 files specific for IIs fom the EXT ROM and my camera (3rd button) is now working. Landscape works as well through button mapping.
However, the problem of the vanishing bluetooth headset icon on the Today screen is still there like when I insert my O2 into its cradae for activesyncing. Cannot be solve, huh?

great work kabayan zero extreme.
i'm still enjoying the 1st one you posted and you come up with a new one!
i've had no problems with the 1st one yet so i'll keep it for the meantime.

Does anyone aware about why the camera cab was not included in XDA IIs Extended ROM?

You just have to replace the ms_.nbf file in the old one with the one included in the zip file posted here, and I would recommend a full re-flash including the main ROM and the radio. I noticed that when I flash just the extended ROM, it leaves my device in bootloader mode.
You can't delete the contents of the extended ROM on your device, it will be replaced when you re-flash.
I recommend you backup all your important data on the device first.
Again, a very nice job well done ZeroXtreme. I hope people realise just how much time you have put into producing these customised ROMs.
All we need now is WMP10 and a complete working Bluetooth solution .

MWG Atom Life WM6 Modified ROM WWE_080608_B2_DS by aa125690

As I mentioned, the OS version is still 5.2.1622 (Build 18128.0.4.4). This will be my only work on WM6. Maybe the softwares will still be updated in the future.
I've done those changings:
- Used Adobe Reader LE 2.5 instead of ClearValuePDF, and updated to the latest build 103401.01
- Used Jbed instead of Jblend, and the build of Jbed is 20080610.2.1
- Updated .NET Compact Framework from 2.0 to 3.5
- Updated the Windows Live for Windows Mobile from version 10.6.0033.0600 to 10.6.0034.0800
- Added OneNote Mobile into Office Mobile
- Added China, Hong Kong and other options in Regional Settings
- Removed the HTC Enlarge Start Menu (It will be included again in my WM6.1 modified ROMs)
- Removed .NET Compact Framework v3.5 Messages CHT for Windows Mobile
- Customer Feedback is placed back
My first WM6.1 ROM has been finished. Come here if you are interested in it.
Remember, I'm just a beginning-level cook. Please don't just leave swearing posts if there is something wrong... Thanks.
Instruction: Just flash my ROM like what you've done for medkid's.
Download link: http://www.mediafire.com/?edmztnl1y00
In my opinion, MWG Atom Life WM6 ROM WWE_020108_B2_DS is a very stable rom. I never find the major problem with this rom before.
However, the only problem that I really concern is the RAM of this rom is too low. So if you can include the RAM management program (Oxios CloseApps) in your rom, that would be good. And if you can make this rom have more RAM, that would be the best.
One more request for you to consider, the software that make flash of ATOM Life to be torch is very useful too.
That all from my side. However, if you just post your rom like you talk. I am also still interesting in your rom.
Thanks, mate. Over 100 views and you posted the first response...
Yes, I agree you point. But my target of cooking is to only make ROMs that very like the official ROM. I won't add anymore other new softwares that do not come from Microsoft or MWg or O2 in order to keep the ROM stable. I will only exchange the softwares that I think they're useless.
Anyway, I'll think about how to reduce more memory consumtion. I've thought about that and you gave me the push. I'll find methods to do that. Thanks mate.
Hi aa125690.
great to hear that we have another budding cook amidst us. Please do post your ROM so that we cn test it and notify you of any bugs or crashes. Together we all can help improve ROM development. As Frioniel said torch and oxios close apps are very important applications. Also please try to reduce the pagepool to increase more free RAM. Personally I never used MWG ROM, because I always go for newer builds
Even Medkid's 6.1.0.9 is very stable for me. TM2's 22070 ROM had some issues like restarting when battery nears 40%, lesser battery life.
One more thing, if you could also provide the option for regional settings for many other countries as an add on option later on.
My 2 cents.

I am using T2M's, but no restarting issue. I see that you are using a 4G miniSD. I am wondering if you have any problem like me - when you go \start menu\program\games (I install games on SD card), it will cause the system paused for 2 to 3 minutes, for the first time after soft reset. This applies to all ROMs I have tried. Same thing happens if using file explorer to access the \start menu\program\games folder for the first time after soft reset. However, it will be ok then. It will reduce the pause time to less than a minute for 2G, and un-noticeable with 1G.
Any good idea or suggestion? Thank you.

Same here. Been using v6.1.0.9 for sometime now. Ram and battery is quite important for me. The battery can go down to as low as 9% without shutdown. See screenshot.

Because other guys have already posted the modified high-level ROMs, I'll only create stable WM6 and WM6.1 ROMs as unofficial "pre-officialp)" ROMs at the moment. I'll modify WM6.1 ROMs after that. But I prefer to make the "pre-official" version first.
I use the wince.nls file from medkid's ROM, so if you find the option you want in Regional Settings in medkid's ROM, you won't be failed to find that in mine.
By the way, I'm still doing some update and upgrade works on my ROM. And if anybody has suggestion about where I should upload, please tell me.
Maniac2403, thanks for suggestion. I think you could be a cook better than me(maybe you've already been a cook). Rom cooking is a quite easy job if you study and work hard. Really.

I've made a ROM modified from the official MWG Atom Life WM6 ROM WWE_020108_B2_DS. Just changed something necessary in order to make it become more usable and keep it stable. So, the OS version is still 5.2.1622 (Build 18128.0.4.4). My work on WM6 will always stick on this version, as it may be the most stable ROM for Atom Life.
I've done those changings:
- Use Adobe Reader LE 2.5 instead of ClearValuePDF
- Use Jbed instead of Jblend, and the build of Jbed is 20080610.2.1
- Add OneNote Mobile into Office Mobile
- Add China, Hong Kong and other options in Regional Settings
- Customer Feedback is hided
I'm actually still trying to upgrade the Internet Explorer Mobile from version 7.6 to 7.11, and the Windows Live for Windows Mobile from version 10.6.0033.0600 to 10.6.0034.0800. And I may not work for WM6 anymore after that. I'll start trying to build WM6.1 ROMs, and try to keep them as stable as the official WM6 ROM at the same time.
Who's interested in it? If someone wants stable ROMs, I'll upload my ROMs. The one I've just made works stably in my Atom Life.
Remember, I'm just a beginning-level cook. Please don't just leave swearing posts if there is something wrong... Thanks.

Do u come from Hong Kong ?
I want to know that if u have a situation like this: the device becomes very slow after using FM radio for sometime, provided that the device is using official WM6 rom. However, there is no such problem when it is using official WM5 rom.
I have take the device to the CS to check if there is any problem. But they only help me to flash the rom again. The problem still sticks with me.
Anyway, thx for ur great contribution

Would try again when I have free time though. I still haven't got how to port my own XIP instead of using other XIP's.
Anyways you can build a 'Vanilla' ROM for Atom Life, as there are none of these kinds.
Regarding upload. Anywhere except rapidhshare
Also regional settings are hard to comy by for India . Any tricks up your sleeve for it ?

Yea I use a 4GB card by Sandisk When I had got the card I had formatted it to Fat32 using a Win98 machine. You know the 'format' in command
Normally when I reboot my phone, I remove the MiniSD out of its slot. The delay happens under two circumstances.
1. Programs installed on the storage card
Reading from storage card takes a lil more time as compared to Main memory which is a flash memory. So more the memory more time it would take to sort through all files.
2. Fragmented files on the card
You can plug the card to your home computer and defragment it once in a while. That should speed up performance.

MWG Atom Life WM6.1 ROM WWE_082808_B2_DS and Kitchen by aa125690

The OS version of this new ROM is 5.2.20721 (Build 20721.1.4.0). The XIP is taken out and modified by qq108108108 and me from qq108108108's ATOM LIFE WM6.1 BUILD 20721 BETA(Thank him very much) and the SYS is dumped out directly from the latest ROM of Samsung i908(Omnia).
There are those new staff:
- Windows Media Player 10 Mobile for Pocket PC Version 10.3 Build 20721
- ROM Version(200800828B2WWE) is now shown properly in System Info.
- Esmertec Jbed is removed.
- Finger scrolling within all the places with scrolling bars is available. That means when you slide your finger up and down, the screen will show you upper and lower parts of the page at the same time.
Please notice that the Internet Explorer Mobile in this release is still version 7.11, not 8.11 as what qq108108108 said.
Known issues:
- No time zone and clock settings after aligning screen after hard-reset.
- IMEI and Radio Version in System Info may sometimes not shown. You have to soft-reset once in order to solve this issue each time.
- The wifi status of the Wireless Today plugin is sometimes hided. You have to soft-reset once in order to solve this issue each time.
- The default setting of Beam is "disable".
Introduction of the kitchen:
1. Extract the kitchen onto your desktop.
2. Add OEM packages you want into the OEM folder.
3. If you want to change or add locations for programs, you can open the initflashfiles.dat file inside the OEM_Lang_0409 folder and edit it by Notepad(Please change the file into writable mode first).
4. After everything is prepared, run StartToBuild.cmd to begin cooking.
5. BuildOS will be run. Select what you want to add and then click the "toolStripButton1" button.
6. When you see "Done", exit BuildOS and the rest of the cooking process will be loaded automatically. Press any key to exit when finished.
7. Rename the "flash" file appears in the kitchen into "AL1.DIO" and copy it into your memory card to flash.
Notice: In my ROMs, I stick the Adobe Reader in the SYS folder. But in the kitchen, I put it back into the OEM folder and placed the option.xml file back to let you choose to disable it if you want to. On the other hand, the OneNote Mobile is mixed up with the Office Mobile folder, please notice.
Please report to me if these ROM & kitchen have any problem.
From now, I may make modified ROMs and release them if I feel satisfied with them. And new "pre-official" ROMs will be released if there is any new XIP or SYS.
Remember, I'm still only a beginning-level cook. Please don't just leave swearing posts if there is something wrong... Thanks.
P.S. Thanks qq108108108 for the tutorial and great help!!!
Instruction: Just flash my ROM like what you've done for medkid's.

As it is my first WM6.1 ROM, I use the initial official WM6.1 ROM to start my work.
There are those new staff:
- All new programs from WM6.1, e.g. Task Manager, Getting Started, etc.
- Internet Explorer Mobile 7.11
- Windows Media Player 10 Mobile for Pocket PC Version 10.3 Build 19202
Known bugs:

I'm now going to build WM6.1 build 20273 ROM, and I'll try to keep them as stable as the official WM6 ROM at the same time. Wait, wait... I'm going to solve this problem.
The bug has been solved(The phone has been updated to 20273 version - I had never done that - and arrows appear next to the contacts above the keypad), but another issue comes out - Internet Sharing is unavailable to connect the internet though the status between the connection of the device and PC is "Connected". I'm still finding ways to solve that and I'm now using the 19202 ROM to connect the internet. Sorry everyone, please wait for one more day(Maybe)...
Sorry, everybody. The fixed ROM has just been uploaded. You can download it now.

HTC Touch Pro Stock ROM Dump (Multilingual/Arabic Supported)

Hey guys,
I extracted my ROM and was wondering if anyone here was interested in obtaining it. I bet some people need this, so enjoy Next step when i have a bit of time and some concentration, is to learn cooking
I did a dump of my HTC Touch Pro Stock ROM which has the latest ROM Update that HTC Has Released Recently for the Middle East.
Took the RUU_signed from this latest HTC ROM Update: _HTC Touch_Pro_RUU_Raphael_HTC_ARA_2.01.415.3_Radio_Signed_Raphael_52.58.25.30_1.11.25.01_Ship.exe
Information about this stock ROM:
Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional
CE OS 5.2.19965 (Build 19965.1.2.3)
Multilingual Support Installed. If you flash this your ROM interface will be in Arabic, you can of course manually change the options to make the interface in English but keep Arabic language support on (Reading/Writing) and you can even disable the multilingual altogether.
Uses (MOBiDIV Multilingual Support Version 3.0 Build 416 Gardenia Package Number: 32)
ROM Version: 2.01.415.3 WWE
ROM Date: 02.23.09
Radio Version: 1.11.25.01
Protocol Version: 52.58.25.30U
ExtPkg Version: 2.1.415.2
Before i post the files , i need to ask the experts which files are safe for me to post here. As in, are there any precautions i have to take i means of a certain ROM has an internal serial/activation on a certain software which may cause problems if i share them? Yes, am totally a noob in flashing WinMo phones, we all start somewhere
The stuff i have are as follows:
Part00.raw
Part01.raw
Part02.raw
Part03.raw
Part00.raw
The below are two ROMs since i created the RUU_Signed.nbh using two methods, after checking their hash, they had different ones, so i publish both :
Using instructions from Here - (Using e,b,space,c,a in RaphaelKitchen.CMD)
Result: RUU_Signed.nbh MD5 Hash: 512ea7b4435b923a3cd6a687eec79dcd
Thanks to jcespi2005
Using instructions from Here - (Using e,b,space,c,b in RaphaelKitchen.CMD)
Result: RUU_Signed.nbh MD5 Hash: 6958d00c322a91b4d679509ae4a9a02f
Thanks to Angelusz
ROM Dump Experts, please inform me which files should i publish. (Again i am asking this in case there is some kind of serial numbers/activation codes...etc). I might at any time switch back to this Stock ROM and would like to have stuff work normally
Now, I'll go ahead with HardSPL and try some cooked ROMs from the lovely chefs here in xda ( Soon, I'll join the kitchen ), any suggestion of a Cooked ROM to try out?
Wont ask what is the best ROM since there is no such thing. Basically, what am looking for is the following:
A ROM with the latest updates and Manila installed
A ROM which would allow me to read/write Arabic after i install some cabs i have my hands on right now
Lots of nice tools and programs that most probably we all use
And of course, something better than this junk slow Stock ROM (Speed / Stability)
Any Suggestions? Am considering: PROven ROM WWE 3.1 21042 out of a fast search on XDA.
Thanks to everyone in the community for making XDA such a wonderful knowledge base for all of us to learn from.
Reserved (Just in case )
Dear Amnya,
did you buy your phone from UAE? if yes, you don't have to go through this hassle. Just use your S/N on HTC site and get the latest ROM. I'm from Egypt, I have the Egypt Arabic ROM which is a Fiasco as the GPS is disabled. I've been waiting for you for a loooonnnngggg time
By the way, about a nice fast ROm, consider also NRGZ28's Energie ROM ver. 2.0 32609. It is great and Arabic works flawlessly.

Hey mate, am glad you found me then Now regarding the phone, yes i got it from the UAE and it had no Arabic Letters Imprinted on the Keyboard (Which is GREAT).
As for your comment marked in red above, i know this, and i actually flashed my mob with that official stock ROM, the point is that i DO NOT want to stay on this stock rom and want to try using Cooked ROMs and maybe even start cooking my own ROMs for this great community.
But before flashing, i thought I'd better backup my current ROM just in case HTC releases an official windows 6.5 upgrade for free or something, or in case my phone dies and i would need to place things back to factory defaults/updates.
You mentioned that you are using "...the Egypt Arabic ROM which is a Fiasco as the GPS is disabled..." i did not quit understand what you meant there. Why is the GPS disabled? :S Is Fiasco a Cooked ROM that doesn't support GPS?
Cheers, and PS: I am still waiting for experts to assure me on what to exactly upload. Cheers

Thank you for your recommendation, checked the ROM details, and i pretty like what i see and since you say that it works with Arabic flawlessly, it makes me love it more Lets see what that Ferrari has to offer
Would you recommend that Microsoft Voice Commander or the standard one? :S What does that MSVC actually differ? i never used this MSVC.
Cheers
GPS is banned in Egypt, therefore the HTC original ROM for Egypt is without GPS drivers.
can you by any chance post the HTC ROM you flashed?
MSVC stands for MicroSoft Voice Command. It simply does what it says, commanding the phone by voice, never tried it and couldn't care less. I would recommend the other one: CSVD
You will like the Ferrari, it is great.

I would i just need to understand if i face any OEM/Licencing or anything of that sort if i do publish it. And a small question, wouldn't it help you if i upload or link you to the update that HTC released recently?
And btw, the flash i dumped is an NBH file, how can i create an executable so i only double click when i need to install it?
I do understand that to flash the nbh file i will use the kitchen tools and cab files, but wouldn't it be best if its a simply executable?
If anyone knows about this thing i would appreciate it
Cheers
If you have the latest Raphael Kitchen then in the tools folder you will find an exec file called RaphaelCustomRUU.exe.
Put this in the same folder as your nbh file and run it. Follow the instructions.
This will put the rom on your device.

Thanks for the valuable info But i was asking on how to create an executable. Not important
Now lets focus on the main stuff Which files should i upload here? in means of my own safety of loosing valuable serials/activations pre-built in the ROM and stuff like that? Or is that irrelevant in WinMo?

Read this especially points 6 and 7
http://forum.xda-developers.com/announcement.php?f=440
Serials and activations are only there if you put them there. If you can't remove them then don't include these particular programs. If you look in the SYS or OEM parts of the rom in the kitchen you will see most programs used and if you know what you are doing you can edit or remove them.

I did not understand the reason for you pointing out i read those two points :S Who said i want to post wares? I was asking about something else. i have a Stock ROM after a hard reset, i did the Flash Dump and got the original ROM off of the phone, then created the new ROM file using those files i extracted from my phone in addition to the RUU file from an HTC ROM.
That produced a file, i am asking, is it safe to upload that file for the public to benefit from? OR would it harm me somehow, one way or another? For example, in the stock rom the Multilingual support by Mobidiv is installed and it never asks for any activation, which from my understanding means that it comes registered with the phone or with the rom, something like that.
Now wouldn't me posting that dump here bad for me mobidiv and so on? Or its a safe thing to do?
Thank you

As I understand it CIT MOBIdiv have an agreement with HTC so that for this program you are probably ok to include it. Google Mobidiv and see what is said.
The reason I gave you that reference is that I didn't know which programs you were refering to and if they had been paid for seperately from your phone and therefore would be ware.

Thank you very much for your continuous update

My first flashing went great and the ROM is wonderful too, what a lucky night

Amnya, you can direct me to the link of HTC but to download it I need your S/N on the back of the phone behind the battery (unless you already uploaded it somewhere and have the link). If you don't feel confortable to give the S/N away for any reason, please upload the original ROM. Almost all original ROMs from HTC are here somewhere or another in every forum (links of course) without the slightest problem (legally I mean). And there will be no issues also regarding software copyrights.
Glad that you liked the Energie ROM, enjoy....

Hey mate, will post you the link to the document later on tonight, currently i am at work One problem though, Arabic is NOT supported, so what should i install to make it support reading and writing arabic? Actually am only interested in reading
Can someone post a link to the needed software or update? I tried the ARA_Patch.cab that HTC released then drew back after the latest ROM Update, but it did nothing. So any ideas?
Cheers
My answer to your problem
http://www.4shared.com/dir/18171659/bed506eb/Arabic.html
use these files as follows:
- Copy the files in Arabic folder to your phone any where
- Install each file in main memory in the same sequence as numbered
- Do not restart when any one of the files installing prompts you to do so
- Only restart when finishing the last install
- Thank me plenty
