BT Headphones Finally Working! - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

I've spent many a frustrated hour trying to find a way to use my Bluetake I-Phono bluetooth headphones without that damn dongle and at long last, I've found a solution!
"Simply" install the WM2003SE upgrade by toenailed/xda2jojo (which is pretty bloomin impressive, BTW) and then install the HP iPAQ Bluetooth Stereo Headphones Driver Update.
This adds a "High Quality Audio setup" option to the Broadcom bluetooth implementation within the WM2003SE upgrade. Not quite A2DP but pretty damn close. Fidelity, volume, bass are pretty good, particularly considering its a wireless connection, but there are occasional "pops" and "squeaks" to contend with. The connection is so sensitive that I'm having to maintain line-of-sight between my XDAII and the right-hand (BT connected) side of the headphones. I can move several yards away but only as long as I keep the LOS, otherwise the connection degrades significantly.
It's far from perfect but its not a bad compromise until someone cracks A2DP on the XDA (something which I would happily pay £50 to achieve, if any interested party is listening).
Cheers,
Ged.

Headset Update
I've been playing around with bluetooth headset settings and I can't make it work under either BT stack.

BLUETOOTH HEADSET
Hi there mate I have V3 BTHS I tried using broadcom plus the upgrade but its not working...not sure though if I configure it correctly ...When i checked the connection on the bluetooth MAnager/Active Connection it shows an Icon in the Outgoing Connection and it is connected but i dont hear any sounds on my bt headset. What could be the problem? BTW my BT works on the orig bluetooth progy but only on the calls not in music players and sound notification. Hope you can help me. Thanks

As I understand it, you can use a BT headset for calls or BT headphones for music, but not both. My headphones are supposed to work in headset mode but they don't... for the moment at least.
Sorry I can't help further mate.

I understand "High Quality Audio setup" is A2DP. There is nothing more to achieve.
Surur

Okay I have the Bluetake i-PHONO on order. Can someone please tell me if it's possible to use them as stereo headphones and a headset at the same time? When you add the Bluetake to your BT setup as high-quality audio, can you add it at the same time as a BT headset? Does it show up as two icons in the BT manager? The Bluetake is supposed to automatically switch between A2DP and headset/handsfree profile... What I want is to be listening to music using media player over A2DP, then hit the button on the Bluetake and pick up a call. Isn't this the way it's supposed to work?

BLUETOOTH HEADSET
oh ok now it makes sense hehe. thanks PinkySlayer. Iphono is bit expensive though its almost a price of a mini ipod...

Expensive they may be, MTX, but I HATE cables, and what's the point in carrying around an MP3 player when you already have one in the form of an XDA (albeit with a few 1GB SD cards in tow)!? I'm working towards a personal nirvana of "single music source, multiple outputs"; I have an FM transmitter wired up to my GPS enabled car cradle so both my WMA and TomTom audio come out of my car speakers; I have wireless Sennheiser headphones for the house and now and now I have wireless BT headphones for mobile use.
I didn't think that was the case, surur. It certainly isn't in practican terms in that the Bluetake phones work great with their own BT dongle (which truly supports A2DP) but with the "High Quality Audio setup", things arn't so rosy.
That's what the Bluetake phones are designed to do, trhuseby, but I think the only way to achieve that at the moment is to use the BT dongle for music playback and then connect your XDA direct to the phones in headset mode. I believe that the phones would then automatically swap from music playback to headset mode when a call comes in, but you have to use that bloody dongle.
The settings for "High Quality Audio setup" do allow the (de)selection of both audio and headset connections but alas, this does not make it work.

BT HEADPHONE
yeah i hear you Pinkyslayer...I really like to have a bt headphone i'm just looking for a cheaper headphone. i was thinking on buying a HP or Toshiba headphones

will this work? Thanks

Can't see why not.

Thanks

Cassette adapter for car radio?

Does anyone know of a adapter I can use to connect my 8525 to my car cassette player to play some mp3s?
Casette adapter
I'm using regular (wired) casete adapter which I got from RadioShack and connect it to R35 which in its turn is paired with TyTN. By this I can listen mp3 stored in mн PDA as well as on-line radio through car speakers. I should note that quality is much better than I expected, better tha regular radio (not HD )
Wonderful news thanks..
I installed the Sony MEX-BT5000. Its able to stream audio from the tytn via BT. Very nice, it connects automatically when I start the engine. I also use it as my handsfree for calls. At first, callers said they couldnt hear me loudly, so I flipped down the faceplate during calls and now calls are good. This is because the mic is behind the faceplate.
Just thought I'd throw it out there...another option to connect the tytn wirelessly.

This is wonderful news because I was just looking into some bt radios..
Do you have a BT headset? I'm curious if I can still use my headset while in the car and just do the audio part..
I do have a BT headset, but I found that the combination doesnt work well. I tried to split the audio streaming to the headunit, and then the handsfree to the headset, but the results were unreliable at best.
I've found that the headunit mic is good enough quality to speak through, as long as you flip down the faceplate. If you dont want to use the handsfree, you can use the audio only and regular Tytn phone. The BT connections are separated by Sony.
Interestingly enough, I was able to internet radio stream via BT to the headunit, and run Tomtom navigator 5 BT GPS unit at the same time. The music volume was decreased and the directions came over the music.
I guess I could just turn off my headset while in the car. I assume it will mute the radio when calls come through..
So you don't get any skipping or anything while playing mp3s?
Do you store your mp3s on a storage card?
Mp3s stored on storage card and internet radio streaming doesnt skip connected via bluetooth.
What is a R35? Is it a BT radio reciever of some sort?

a2dp mic on ?

ok we all have our lovely toys and are all connected with cingulars awesome high speed internet. some of us are probly saving mins by using skype calls. well thats what i do any ways. i picked up a plantronics 855 stereo and mono bluetooth headset. in mono mode it also supports a2dp so it seemed like u can use it to do skype calls but turns out that a2dp doesnt turn on the mic, so ur dependent on the mic on the unit instead of the headset. does anyone know how to get a2dp and have the mic on too. skype calls are saving me a fortune but cant always have my ear up to my beautiful phone ((( people tend to stare at u when u got a umpc like device up to your ear)))

Yes, there is a problem with mic in stereo headsets. I have Jabra mono headset and another Jabra stereo one.
If I use my mono Jabra, I can use BT Audio to redirect all audio including mic to the headset. Unfortunatelly this does not work with my stereo Jabra (320s). If I try to use BT Audio while using Jabra 320s, something strange happens and the audio system gets crazy, it usualy does not transmit any audio or gets stucked completly. That is why, if I have my Jabra 320s on, I simply use it as audio in, and the standard mic in X7500 for my VoIP. It works well and prevents against the echo effect. The mic in X7500 is very good, so I can keep it in normall distance of about 50 cm from my face. I use Aget phone for my VoIP, but it works with SJPhone as well.
Edit:
I have made my Jabra 320s (stereo) to provide mic in VoIP. I have unclicked the "Wireless Stereo" option in Bluoetooth settings og the headset. After this BT Audio works well and does not create any problems.
Now the only issue I have is to find some software which could work like BT Audio but from command line. I use Aget phone which can be set to start any software with command line, just before and after the call. This could be easily used to send audio with mic to BL headset just before the call and then return it to standard settings after the call.
Any clues...?

Wired headset with bluetooth remote

Hello,
I bought a Jabra BT3030 lookalike, expecting to use it to control the Blackstone, which will have wired headphones connected directly to the 3.5 jack (best sound quality, convenience of a remote, and I expect long battery life).
However I cannot get the sound to come through the headset if the remote works. It looks like if a stereo headset is connected, all sound will be sent to it (if I connect the headset to the BT receiver, it works fine).
I tried switcha2dp but if I switch off AD2P, the remote stops working.
I hoped to use only the AVRCP profile when pairing, but that is not an option (I only have "handsfree" or "wireless stereo", "handsfree" does not work for music/remote).
Can anyone offer any advice? I'd like to disable AD2P while keeping AVRCP but I can't seem to find a way...
Thanks,
Did you ever find a solution to this? I am in the exact same situation

Sat Nav over Bluetooth

Hi
Can anyone confirm that Sat Nav commands are streamed to a blue tooth speaker ?
I would like to use the Sat Nav on my phone but the in-built speaker isn't upto the job. A simple blue tooth speaker would be fine, if it works. . . .or are there any other alternatives.
Any help or recommendations would be most welcome.
Ta
Hi
I will test this at work today for you as i have bluetooth speakers there can also check an fm transmitter if you want to go down that route
I use a Venturi mini (http://www.myventuri.com/home.aspx ) and it stream BT sat commands, phone calls and even my .mp3 music to my car radio, separate or even together.....it's excellent, especially as it's powered from cigarette lighter socket
Thanks for this - I do like the look of the Venturi mini, and the usb charging function would be ideal, but I would prefer an independent speaker so that I can still use my cars radio/media player. What it does prove is that I can stream commands using A2DP to a bluetooth device.
I can confirm BT speaker output for two navigation softwares:
IGO8 and ALK Copilot.
Using a Blaupunkt car audio unit named "Hamburg MP68" with A2DP streaming.
Working quite well, the same as my BT stereo headphone, a Plantronics 590E.
If you connect a bluetooth headset/ a2dp device, all sounds should play over bluetooth, so it should work without any problems

Yes, but some devices, such as the Jabra BT3030 go into standby between commands and by the time it has come to life again, and received the audio half of the audio is missing, or you don't get any of it.
Well I'm going to try a Jabra SP700 and see if it works - I'll let you know.
My Jabra SP700 works fine with TomTom & streams music. I'd certainly recommend it.

[Q] Anyone have or resolved any issues with Bluetooth headsets and ATP?

Is anyone facing issues getting sound to play from their bluetooth headset when paired with the Asus Transformer Prime? Have you been able to resolve it? I have been able to pair it without a problem but the sound doesn't stream. I'm on TW_9.4.2.15
So far, I've seen a few threads but no answers that have been confirmed. Any thoughts? Also, confirmation that this problem still exists would be helpful, thanks!
Bluetooth headset connects but can't stream audio
[Q] Bluetooth not working (not bad connection, it connects just doesnt do anything)?
Bluetooth Disappointment
Bluetooth headset and Transformer Prime (ICS)
inline mic or bt headset
I am now on Virtuous Prime, but also had this working previously on stock .15. I have Motorola S9-HD Bluetooth headphones working. I have also gotten music audio to stream to my Plantronics m155, so it does work, but can be a little fiddly.
Process that works for me is as follows (and I know there is no particular reason for any of this, but it is what works so I do it this way).
1. Start Google Music, hit play so music starts, then pause the music.
2. Turn on the headphones and let them pair to Bluetooth.
3. Settings->Bluetooth, go to the headphones and and make sure you have both the Phone Audio and Media audio profiles checked (this is where MOST times the issue is on my TFP)
4. Press play on your headphones.
Again, no rhyme or reason why, but it does work for me this way.
Cheers,
Peter
I have the Samsung HS3500 and HS3000 and both work fine for streaming audio out of the Prime.
In general I just have to turn on the Prime's bluetooth, then turn on the headset I want to use (they look for connections when turned on, so if the tablet's bluetooth isn't already on they won't connect) and it connects after a few seconds and works perfectly.
I don't know if I am just getting lucky with the Prime's bluetooth but I haven't had any problems streaming content from the internet such as Netflix and listening to it with my bluetooth headsets.
If you are looking to just listen to music and video on your Prime you could give the HS300 a try, it isn't expensive:
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Stere...WK5E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1330989035&sr=8-1
However if you want a bluetooth that is easy to use while driving I would suggest the:
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Black..._1_2?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1330989270&sr=1-2
Both can be used to listen through headphones (the 3500 requires you to use the included headphones, or listen through the included adapter). The HS3000 can also be used for calls, since there is a mic next to where the headphone plugs in, however the 3500 is easier to use while driving.
Thanks for the suggestions! pbrauer I tried your workaround, and it didn't work out, but I learned something... I have no media audio profile, only the phone profile. I have been doing more research on the matter and it looks like it could be incompatibility between mono earpiece/headsets and android in general.
My headset is an i.Tech Clip II mini 606 mono headset, and it doesn't appear to have a2dp technology. Looking at what's posted on other android forums unrelated to the Transformer Prime, some have tried software such as BTmono and SuperMonoFroyo to reroute the audio feed. Unfortunately, no dice... I'll keep researching to see if I can find any solution - if I find a solution elsewhere, I'll make sure to post back here so it can help others.
Almightywhacko, I'm going to try and struggle with this for a bit longer since I just got out of university and would prefer to stay away from getting further in debt, at least until I get a job. But once I get a job, and if this issue persists, I might go for one of those, thanks!
I have Transformer TF300T and I have problems with my two stereo bluetooth headsets (Dell and Jabra). Headphones pair with no problems, but then there is no sound. Sometimes reset (turning off/on) helps, I also tried to hard reset the tablet - this helped too, but only temporarily. After some time of listening, sound disappears. And these are my BT headsets that I use all the time with my mobile phone, without any problems.
I have also noticed, that when there is a problem with a Bluetooth headset sound, and I try to display film (using MX Player), film stops for a while every one second. It looks like there is a heavy process in the background, that makes the film perform bad. When I turn off the Bluetooth (or I have a luck, and there IS sound in my BT headset), film is displayed perfectly well.
TF300T has Bluetooth 3.0 on board, my headsets are BT 2.x. Could this be a problem? (o.k., I do know, that BT 3.0 is compatible with 2.x, but still, this is life, and who knows ?)

SO GLAD to hear I'm not the only one with this problem! To date the best answer anyone can give me is: "not all brands of Bluetooth Headsets work on the Transformer Prime"- what???
My Jawbone Icon didn't work & I had it a year before I bought the TP. Somehow I lost the Icon so I bought the newer Jawbone Era, and it doesn't work either. It pairs just fine & I can hear sound but when using Google Voice /Talk, I can't speak into the BT mid and be heard.
Really sucks! My 2 year old Droid 2 phone has no problem with either BT headset. Very frustrating not to know why they don't work??
