Delete your Partnerships on your device.
Than go to ActiveSync (Device) en press Menu, Connect Via Bleutooth. Than all you have to do is follow the instructionts.
I have Windows Mobile 5 (Full version) + ActiveSync 4 and it works perfect!
Don't forget to install your bluetooth doggle (or at your laptop) software

its still not working
any other solution

AS4 and AVANTGO

hi there
i have a new problem now :x
ok i am not able to sync my AVANTGO either directly from my xda connected to cradle or from AS4.
after installing AS4 i reistall avantgo from my pc to xda now the first screen comes up on xda asking for my username and password when i put my username and password its sort of doing nothing just sendind data to server then time out dialog comes up. my xda connected to my laptop and laptop is connected to broadband.
i am using XDA2 2003SE and AS4
help plz
Regards
Gugi
Avantgo have stated they do not support the "beta activesync 4" and that you may continue to use 3.8 with their software.
I guess they don't see WM2005 users as a priority yet.
The only way is to do it manually through the AvantGo Connect icon in your connections tab.
Hi AlanJC
thanx for replying
Now if i open my anantgo on my laptop and try to add server in that client
i can't add , there is no server information or any thing but there is one server on my xda2
Regards
Gugi
You can sync through your devics. However Avantgo seem to have problems of late. What I do is to log on to their site on my laptop. If I get through, I can also sync through the dilogue on my ppc.
Cheers
hi victor
thanx for reply
i can log into website via laptop , but i can not by xda
i think i have some setting problems with my xda and as4 or might be firewall prob which i can not get around, i am just banging my head against the "XDA".
i just figured out that i am aslo not able to connect to internet on xda when it is in cradle and conneted to laptop on internet.
regards
Gugi
Avantgo will not work with AS4 until they release a new version, so you can stop trying.
As for using your laptop as a passthrough, did it work before?
Off to a meeting now so will log on later. But see my screen. not synced today yet.

hi Alan
yeah on AS3.8 i used to surf internet on my xda through laptop but with AS4 i can't.

Avantgo
To download and install AVANT GO for your pocket pc just got to the site http://www.avantgo.com
and download and install the sofware !!! and install it so it is easy !!!! :!:
U must be connected to the internet via your computer and active sync 4.0 and also follow the download carefully after installing the file avantgo will be in your pocket pc (Start---> Programms) and click that after installing.
AS4 and Avantgo
hi,
I have installed avantgo to WM5 with AS4. The AS4 does not support synchro as you can not add server within AS4 running from PC but you can synch through your Avantgo (should be connected through internet via USB) which installed in WM5. Just configure your device with your local ISP or LAN proxy and the synch.
Hope it helps.
Cheers,

Possible solution for ActiveSync with WM2005

Hi,
I recently reinstalled WM2005 and found that my experience from last time didn't help to get ActiveSync 4 working with WM2005:
In 2005 the primary connection mode between devices and desktop pc's via USB has changed from a serial over USB connection (WM2002 & 2003) to a TCP/IP based connection.
This connection is made by the RNDIS (Remote NDIS) driver. On the desktop PC, you device will no longer show as a serial USB device but as a network board. You can check this by looking at the network connections.
So when trying to troubleshoot ActiveSync problems you should pay special attention to everything that could interfere with TCP/IP. I had problems when the MS ISA Server Firewall client was activated. After deactivating (and some hours of research) it finally worked, so try to deactivate personal firewalls and things like that.
Checklist:
- Does you device appear in the Device Manager as "Windows Mobile based device"?
- Does it appear in network connections?
- run ipconfig and see if it has an IP adress assigned? (should be something like 169.254.2.2)
- open network cards on your mobile device >> Settings >> Connections >> Network cards >> Click "Remote NDIS host" and see if an IP address is auto-assigned (leave the setting just look at the IP address
- if you can ping your device from your desktop PC, ActiveSync should work, too.

It turned out that the problem was that I had disabled the "DHCP Client" service on my W2k machine. The RNDIS mechanism works in a way that the CE devices act as a DHCP server. When there is no DHCP client request from the PC, it simply doesn't work (a static IP address on the PC doesn't help).
I've read a lot of posts from people claiming that it only worked after a reinstall of the OS. Since the DHCP Client service is enabled by default, this might explain why the reinstall solved the problem. So before reinstalling your OS, you may want to try to start the DHCP client service....
Hope this will help some of you..
hello softworkz my friend...
yeah the same as i config my win2k PC...
i got no problem with my winXPsp2 and win2k3server PC, as i don't have problem with my BT sync...
tnx,

I can´t syncronize with activesync 4.0 and w2k5 via USB.

Hi.
I have already download the new w2k5 to my XDAII and now I can´t wyncronize it via USB with the new ActiveSync 4.0
I have tried via infrared and it works, but when i put my XDA II in the credle, and I try to do it via USB it doesn´t works... Any idea?¿
Thanks
are u sure the File/Connection settings/allow USB connection is checked??!!!....... otherwise,u cannot synchronise via USB...
RAGO
Yes, everything it´s ok
I don´t know what could it be... Maybe reinstalling activesync 4.0...
thanks 4 all.
The problem with the USB conection of my xda II and activesync 4.0 still kickin´...
I have read something abaut the same problem in another post? Or it´s just a dream?
Thanks.
It's kinda strange what's happening with u... :?
Now am not sure, but try the following:
*u must have service pack 2 installed(it's a prerequisite)
1-on ur mobile:go to active sync/menu/connections check synchronize all PCs using this connection, and in the window tab below choose USB.
2-try changing the USB port on ur PC.
3-try restarting ur PC,and ur mobile as well...
4-make sure the File/Connection settings/allow USB connection is checked
5-make sure ur cable is functionning well(try another device if u can,or another cradle if possible)
Good luck....
RAGO
I´m trying to synchronize in a IBM T21 Laptop... Maybe USB 2.0 not soported? Does anybody knows if ActiveSync 4.0 and wm2k5 only works with USB 2.0 ?
Many Thanks
spend some time today to make it work.
first check on device manager if under network adapters exist "windows mobile-based device" and is ok (not with ! sign),
then go to control panel at network and internet connection > network connection.if you have network card there will be one local area connection (or maybe much depend how many network cards have in pc).when conected pocketpc (wm2005) will create another local area conection, connect and disconect to see what number have ex. local area connection 2.right click properties then better tick on show icon on notification area to see what is about connection.go to advanced windows firewall >settings.at general tab turn off,at advanced tab unmark this area connection only,( I want to say to unmark local area connection 2 or what number have this connection between pocketpc and pc) leave marked other local area conection (if is present) to keep protect your pc from outside.press ok in that window, now you are back in properties page check at general tab >tcp/ip protocol > properties to be selected obtain an ip address automatically press ok ok again. now in pocketpc go to start > settings > connections > network cards here select connect to "work" and adapter remote-ndis host select "use server assigned ip address" ok ok again.dissconect and connect pocketpc to pc.look at taskbar right-down corner of monitor, near clock, you should see appear network connection icon.first time at every connection between two little monitor will be a red dot going from one to another,in this time computere search for dhcp server to receive ip address,in short time (4-5-6 seconds) link will be active icon will be clear not fading like previous and the two monitors will blink.if this is not happened check on control panel > Performance and Maintenance > Administrative Tools > services if dhcp client is started,if not start it manual and change startup type to automatic.if until now everything is ok disconnect pocket pc, dezinstall old version of active sync install version 4.0 build 4343 restart pc.after pc started up connect pocketpc to pc,it should work.if still not work dezinstall active sync and from control panel uninstall windows mobile-based device disconect pocketpc restart pc install active sync and connect pocketpc,in this way windows reinstall networ driver and now must work ok.
btw I forgot to tel to check at active sync allow usb connection.
good luck.
Thank you very much for everything gabiz_ro.
Ok, I´m going to tell you what I have realized trying to follow your instructions.
Firstable I don´t have that you call:"windows mobile-based device" Or I didn´t find it... I have looked at Lan or Internet connection.
Then, I have tried to find out the conection that you talk abaut that it must be created when I connect my PPC, but I didn´t find it too. I tried to find it conecting the XDA II via USB and via Infrareds (remember that via IRDA does works)
Finally I changed at my PPC what you say abaut remote ndis host, I saved it, and disconnected and connected again, but it didn´t appear anything at taskbar right-down corner of monitor...
I don´t know what to do... And I´m sure that the problem is hosted the new activesync 5.0 or in wm2k5, cause one hour ago, when I came back to w2003se, I synchronized the ppc correctly with the credle via USB...
I´m feeling very weird with it, cause when I put the PPC in the credle (with wm2k5 and actvesync 4.0) the normal sound of the PC when you connect something reconigzed, don´t sounds... what I hear is the double "tun tun" that sounds when you connect something not recognized.
Many thanks
wm2003 is identified by windows as usb device.
but wm2005 like a network connection.
first
right click on "my computer" > properties > hardware > device manager.expand network adapters, and here when conected pocketpc to usb you'll see "windows mobile-based device"
second
local area conection 2 (or other number,in raport with how many network cards are installed on pc) you''l find in start > control panel > network and internet conection > network connection.but appear only when xda is connected if xda is disconected that "local area connection" dissapear too,and xda must be identified and driver installed (windows mobile-based device show without any ! symbol in control panel).infrared connection will not work here.on that local area network who represent connexion between pc and xda right click > properties and mark show icon on notification area.....
if you hear other sound like you say, maybe xda is not identified or windows didn't install corect driver.take a look to see in control panel what is wrong.expand universal serial bus to see if ther is some unknow device or something wrong.
there is control panel print-screen and taskbar area prinscreen.
Ok!
I think that finally thanks to you we have discovered the problem...
I don´t have everything you talk abaut in the device list...
But what I have is this: Generic RNDIS (PROTOTYPE- Remembber to change id Vendor)
It is with the yellow alert icon.
But what could I do to put it right?
thanks
YEEEEEEEEEEES!
Problem FIXED!
That was the problem... It was not recognized, and with alert yellow icon... Thank you very much gabiz_ro, if you´ll didn´t helped me, now I would be changing back to w2003se
Thank you very much again
ok.
glad to can help.

AKU 3.5.2 + Internet Sharing + Missing Sync

I updated my 8525 with the official AT&T AKU 3.5.2. When I enable Internet Sharing and connect the phone via USB to my Mac, it kills Bluetooth and nothing happens.
With AKU 3.3, this was not an issue. I tried it on a Macbook Pro and a Macbook with the same result. No problem using Bluetooth PAN, but slow.
Just for the fun of it, I tried Internet Sharing with Windows XP running in Parallels, and it works fine via USB cable.
Anyone having the same issue? Any registry hacks or drivers to solve the problem?
Thanks in advance.
Ted
There must be a Mac user here who upgraded t AKU 3.5.
What do you mean by "it kills Bluetooth and nothing happens"?
Does it kill your bluetooth on your mac or on your 8525?
Are you trying to both do internet sharing via USB and connect to your Mac via Bluetooth from your 8525 at the same time?

After I enable ICS on my 8525, and connect the USB cable to MAC, somehow, the bluetooth on my MAC gets disabled [Bluetooth Not Avaible message with the icon grey out], and my 8525 still says "check USB cable". But, there's no connection. I made sure that BT is disabled on my phone, and PC to USB is unchecked.
Just as a test, I connected my 8525 to another MAC that doesn't even have Missing Sync and the same thing happened. With ICS on, USB connection basically disables Bluetooth. For the life of me, I cannot figure out why that happens. USB shouldn't interfere with Bluetooth.
In the meantime, it works fine with PC.
Hope someone can shed some insight.

I see the same thing on AKU 3.5 and Tiger 10.4.9 when I just tried it. Once 10.4.9 came out and supported PAN, I stopped using the USB connection. I still get 400kbps or so with Bluetooth, so there's I don't really have a reason to use USB (plus the Hermes drains a MacBook Pro's battery rather fast - I can drain a notebook battery in an hour with the phone plugged in vs. 3 hours without).
Jmat, thanks for the reply. It's good to know that it's not just my phone. I hope this can be fixed though. I do use BT PAN with OS X 10.4.9, but it would be nice to have the USB option since it's about 2x faster.
I cannot understand why USB connection would wipe out Bluetooth on my MAC though.
I know someone here will figure it out.
eh, 10.4.9 supports pan? news to me. i use my pc more than my mac, so i think i only have 10.4.8. i have the latest aku (as far as i know) from the newest cingular rom. i'll give it a shot.
Internet Sharing + OS X
I was able to tether 8525 to powerbook G4 thru bluetooth for internet connection. Then clicking the dropdown for the phone icon and clicking bluetooth. It would dial then authenticate, and I would be connected to the internet. In doing that, I needed to download Tytn modem script for mac modem, it worked great! However, I recently upgraded the ROM (2.06)on the 8525, and now Internet Sharing is the protocol for for Wireless Modem. This method directs the device to connect thru bluetooth by joining the network associated with the Pocket PC, once connected in the bluetooth icon dropdown, I try to access webpages and I get "Not Connected to the Internet."
I've heard of AKU, can someone please refresh my memory, and will it be necessary to update to correct my issue?
Can someone please assist me with using the 8525 to tether with a Powerbook G4 to connect to the internet?
**NOTE** Also, MissingSync for 8525 does not work since the ROM update. I was never successful connecting to it thru BT, but it worked great thru USB. Now I try to connect thru USB , the connection is lost when attempting to start MissingSync app. Any Ideas??
Thank you

Internet Sharing + OSX
I've been using my Hermes to connect to the internet from my powerbook for a few month (BT connection). It was working OK although conflicting with direct push.
Since I upgraded to AKU 3.3 and use internet sharing, it is now much more reliable, connects fast and transparently.
I recently got MissingSync to work, by enabling advanced USB settings thru the phone.
My other issue that is still unresolved is that when I connect the BT PAN from the phone, and join network from the BT setting from the MAC, I connect successfully, but I still can not access internet on MAC. It appears that there are internal settings that need to be altered to access web pages once connected thru BT PAN/Internet share? Any Ideas, please help! Thank you.

Can you tell me how you set up the connection? I've paired my Hermes and Powerbook, turned internet sharing on, I can join the PAN network but the Powerbook refuses to connect to the internet.

Have you set your network conf to Automatic?

Internet connection sharing (=Internet-Freigabe) - unable to resolve hostname

Hello!
I'm frequently using Internet connection sharing (=Internet-Freigabe, I'm using german ROM) on the HD2 to enable internet on my laptop.
After installing MyMobiler 1.25 and Efficasoft Mobile Express v1.5.2 on my PC I found out that Internet connection sharing doesn't work correctly anymore. The following I found out:
- Internet connection sharing works only in about 1 per cent of my connection trials, most time I get 'unable to resolve hostname' in my browser.
- reboot of HD2 and/or PC does not always help, occasionally I can establish a connection but most time the PC can't resolve host name.
- earlier I could easily turn on off internet connection sharing by pressing connect / disconnect (= verbinden, trennen) in the internet connection sharing (=Internet Freigabe) application. This does not work anymore. When I press disconnect and later connect I always get unable to resolve hostname.
- I entirely removed both softwares on PC and PDA but this doesn't help
- error is not limited to HD2 device, it occures on a HTC TouchHD in connection with a different PC as well
- It seems to me that the Internet connection is not correctly forwarded to the pc, because the PDA itself can establish an internet connection correctly (mobile browser is on the internet)
Thank you for your help because I'm urgently using this feature!

try changing your dns server on the pc, im not quite sure how you do this in windows. open dns have rock solid servers and there pretty secure too. not sure if that is your problem but its something to try. some mobile providers dns servers tend to be problomatic.

Hello veda_sticks!
Thanks for your reply!
How should I do this? I just plug-in my HD2 into my Notebook and get a selection menu on the HD2 where I can choose Internet connection sharing (out of 3 possible choices where the other 2 are Acive sync and use as HD drive). After pressing OK it works or it doesn't work.
