XDAII/ WM5 will not sync with Active Sync 4- please help - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

When I try to sync (ActiveSync 4 installed) As I plug the XDAII into cradle, I get a pop up on the TaskBar, saying- Generic RNDIS (Prototype-Remember to change idVendor)
The sync then just hangs and shows the green rotating button turning but nothing happens.
I am running XP Pro SP2. on my PC, cradle is plugged directly in to USB 2 port on motherboard .XDAII has the new OS WM5 loaded, sync work fine for a while then just seemed to loose the connection, have tried to fix , by removing ActiveSync 4 and reinstalling but same problem,- Generic RNDIS (Prototype-Remember to change idVendor) What is this and how do I go about fixing this, I have also tried deleting partnership and reconnecting but now absolutely nothing connecting, can anyone help, please

Active sync does not find mobile device

Hello,
I just bought a QTEK 1010 i think it is the same as XDA. I tried to install active sync that came on the CD - it installed fine. but it does not locate the device for some reason. I am connecting the cradle using USB. I have tried removing the active sync software and plugging in the USB cable, windows XP picks the cradle up so im sure nothing is wrong with the cradle. please help me as to why active sync does not find the device. and what i can do about it .
thanks
Have you looked at your pc activesync settings and ensured that the option for usb connection is enabled?
Latest version of ActiveSync
You might want to try downloading the latest version of ActiveSync because I had a similar problem. Installing version 3.7.1 resolved it.

WM6 Unknown Device

anyone get the error message of unknown device when plugging in their wm 6 phone to a laptop, happens to me on vista homepremium and xp, both up to date. this happens about %50 of the time
I bet your USB port on the laptop is not supplying enough current (borderline, hence why it works sometimes). Try one of the following things, first try the connection while the laptop is on AC power (not internal battery). Second, do you have a double USB port adapter? This is a cable that plugs into your external USB device on one end, and has a Y-connector that plugs into 2 USB ports on your laptop, thus increasing the current capability. If either one of these suggestions solves the problem then it means the laptop is not able to supply enough current on one USB port, a common problem.
I had the same problem and found it to be a firewall issue
Ofcourse it could be a firewall issue or any issues with loading of drivers and services. A soft-reset on the device and a PC Restart will solve most of the case!
Regards,
Carty..
How would a PC Restart make your firewall accessible, I located the SmcGui.exe (symantec) created a shortcute, and use that to disable to firewall whenever I want to connect

hi guys thanks for the advice, however, i have since updated to vista ultimate and now get the following issues. xp seems to have sorted itsself out, however vista has problems installing the drivers for my phone. it says on the phone check usb cable and on the laptiop i get the symbol in the sys tray for unrecognised device. the phone will sync fine, just not allow internet sharing.(i am using a 2.0 usb port and my mobile device centre is up to date, i downloaded all the vista updates today)
my firewall has been turned off, but i believe its a driver issue as thats whats showing on the screen device not recognised.
any ideas?
For Internet Sharing in Vista, you need to install WMDC.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/devicecenter.mspx
i have it installed, i tried changing from official rom to black satin and a few others and it still does the same. the mobile device centre will sync then i turn on the internet sharing and it installs the drivers for "unknown device". had a word with the t-mobile connectivity team who took a look at the laptop and phone, tried it on other laptops with the same result. vista doesn't like the internet sharing bit. tried the usual stuff like taking off the advanced network functionality etc.
oke here is what u gotta do :
for windows vista:
-reboot computer without wm6 device connected
-install mobile device center 6.1 (the drivers ^^)
-reboot
-wipe all activesync connections on wm6 device and vista
-disconnect device and see if advanced networking is enabled (USB to PC .. in networksettings wm6)
-set connectionssettings in mobile device center from automatic to Internet
-goto networksettings on wm6 device and choose connections
-tap advanced and select networks : both set to My ISP
-connect wm6 device and wait till it finished .. take some minute or so
installing drivers and things
-when its done unplug device and reboot computer (yes again, and i am not
going to explain why this is so important as you should know by now)
-wait for the computer to boot untill it finished (vista this take 2 minute at least)
-connect wm6 device and setup proper sync partnership
-goto connectionsettings in mobile device center and check all boxes and set it to internet if it is not allready set.
-wait for the device to do its stuff
-it will strangely reconnect after a while and internet works again
notes:
kaspersky 7 : -turn of the kaspersky protocol on the networkadapter of wm6
-allow acces to svhost when it asks for it.
norton 360: -no problem found .. maybe you need add LSP to trusted
networks
internet+wmdc 6.1
double post ...
moderator remove this please
hey dajojo yer guide is great , i tried it and unfortunately, it connected for about 30 seconds and went straight back to usb device not recognised.
when it was connecting it should show up as "generic rndis internet sharing windows mobile device" or something similar.
any further assistance would be great.
m running vista home premium 32 bit (went back to it from ultimate)
Finally Solved!
Hi there!
Seems to be the same problem on HTC Dual!
try this
go to start>settings>system>power>advanced
if the checkbox "When device is turned on, do not charge battery when connected to PC" is checked uncheck it and tap ok! Then go back again and check the checkbox again and tap ok again. and the ActiveSync software will sync all data!

installing a rom without activesync

I have a cingular wizard with WM6 TNT 1933 (Build 18533.0.7.0) w/ TouchFlo. My battery recently died (thought it was bricked for a while, then tested the battery and bought a new one). My wizard won't connect to activesync through a usb cable(I have the advanced network checked OFF), and I don't have a bluetooth adaptor on this laptop. I have wifi here. First off I want a different OS because this one is too loaded and there isn't enough free memory, a bunch of apps I don't need. Also I'm wondering if a new OS will let me connect to activesync. Is there anyway to load one onto there, or am I just F'd?
is the phone operational now?
im sure that sktools had a repair activesync option then you can flash whatever
Bluetooth
You can use bluetooth to connect with activesync

However ROM flashing must be done by direct USB connection, you didn't read the question carefully.
If you start RUU and plug the USB to your computer, the RUU screen on your wizard should display USB. If this is the case, you can run RUU directly.
If that doesn't work, try it on a different computer.
what about flashing a new rom via bootloader? have u tried that?
Htc fuze (raphael)
I know this is an old thread, but it came up when I searched this problem. I didn't find a lot of info easily, so I just tried a few things.
Problem: Cannot connect to ActiveSync because phone boots into Windows 6.5 beta and is locked at the screen saying the trial is over. When connecting it to the computer, the computer detected a device but ActiveSync could not connect.
Solution: Remove battery from phone and re-insert. Turn on while holding Volume Down button to get into serial mode. When you plug the phone into the computer in this mode, it should switch to USB mode. This allowed me to run RaphaelWrapper and then repeat the Volume Down boot once complete and reconnect to load the RUU for the AT&T stock OS.
If your phone does not switch from Serial Mode to USB Mode when connecting via USB, there is most likely a problem with the phone's USB port or a more serious problem than described above.
I hope this helps someone else! =)
Hi every body I have I-mate k-jam G3 wizard can I upgrade it to windows 6 ?

Need help with Activesync/New Rom/Hard SPL

Dear all,
I recently bought a HTC Touch Pro (MDA Vario 4) from T-Mobile.
Although the phone is nice, I do not like the interface T-Mobile has.
So, I decided to install a new ROM (Romeos beta 1.12 looks really nice).
I downloaded this ROM + Hard SPL 1.90, also I installed ActiveSync 4.5 (newest version for XP pro).
Hard SPL cannot find my phone when it is connected via USB, this is why:
When I connect my phone to my computer (via USB), the computer finds the phone (and adds a virtual harddrive) this is all working as intended. ActiveSync also detects the phone and tries to connect, it DOES connect but only as a guest...as such I cannot use Hard SPL, cannot install the new ROM, cannot sync Outlook contacts etc etc.
Being a guest on ActiveSync I can still look inside my phone (via added virtual harddrive) but that is it.
I am kinda new to a smartphone like interface, but it is damn frustrating this wont work.
When I google for help, all I see is that people (when they connect for the first time) get a activesync wizard who helps them make an account for it...I dont get that at all.
i reinstalled activesync several times, but with no success, I still get connected as guest instantly.
I would love to know how to resolve this.
if anyone got ideas? Please let me know.
With regards,
David
When you connect there are three settings that will show in your MDA Vario:
- connect to ActiveSync
- connect as hard drive
- connect as modem
Choose connect to active sync. If your MDA Vario is connecting directly in ActiveSync (and no wizard pops out) then it connected to it before. You could go to active sync and go to File->Mobile Device and verify if your MDA Vario exists in there. If yes, delete it then connect your MDA to start the wizard.
Hello,
Thanks for the reply.
I forgot to mention, that I always choose Activesync when connecting.
But my options in Activeync 4.5 are down to a minimum, I cannot recall being able to go to file->Mobile Device, will check tonight though.
Thx,
Regards,

You sure can flash the rom and spl even as a guest, i've done it several times and can confirm it working. Have you tried just executing RaphaelCustomRUU.exe?
Also, did you chose ActiveSync in the phone's usb connect popup?
there's also a way of flashing by booting the phone straight into bootloader mode and then executing the flasher. Dunno if it works for stock SPL though.
Couldn't hurt trying;
1. Remove the battery
2. Re-insert battery
3. press vol down and power button to turn the phone on
4. Connect usb and flash with RaphaelCustomRUU.exe like usual.

[Q] flashing HTC HD2 from TMOUS

Hey everybody,
I'm new to this flashing as well...
I have a Tmobile US HTC HD2...
I installed the HSPL3 after getting the Windows Mobile Device Center...
It was installed successfully, but after that whenever I connect my HTC to my PC, I can hear the ding but my PC is not recognizing my device and there is no connected icon on the HTC as well.
I tried all the USB ports and nothing worked. Without connecting my device to the PC you know you can't flash any roms as well...
Any help please...

Are you trying to do this while your screen has the three colors?
If so....does it say USB at the bottom or serial?
not while bootlegger mode. I used that for installing the hspl3.
my pc didn't discover the connected device and there was no connected symbol (which you get on your hd2 on the top right side, next to 3G n/w symbol).
when I connect, it shows that as a mass storage device on my pc and the safely remove hardware sign shows up.
I hope this explains my problem.
settings menu all settings connections usb to pc tick active sync untick 'faster data' reboot the pc, reboot the phone. Should be fine.
Thanks Sam, it worked. Unticking the 'faster data', did the trick...
Thanks again.
