Hardware help on XDA2 - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

Hi all,
My XDA2 was damaged by accident that the connection socket remain at the USB cable plug.. ..thanks for my little electronic devices terminator..
After open the case and I found the circult board was totally damaged and can't be solder it back definietly.
Without a connectivetly with PC, my XDA2 is definetly becomes a shoe-like-phone (or spare parts). Would somebody show me where I can jump the most important 4 USB data signal from the PCB?
Thanks,

Screen connector differences and rebuilding displays

I have a problem with my XDA2 whereby the 22 pin connector at the bottom of the device has become detached from the main board (after being dropped! outch!)
I have managed to resolder the connector back onto the board, however it appears that a couple of tracks have become detached from the board along with the connector which now means that the serial and usb ports no longer work!! - and there appears to be no way to tell where these pins connect to..
In an attempt to obtain a replacement board i have got hold of a damaged XDA2 from ebay which has a broken screen. However the connector on the board for the screen in this XDA2 is completely different to the one in my XDA2 making it impossible to swap the boards over (or the screens for that matter).
Does anyone know if it is possible to disassemble these displays so that i can produce a display that works with the right connector attached? I know that it's posible to replace the touch screen on these displays but i've no idea how - and i dont want to damage my working display!!
Any help would be apprecated

MDA USB connector not working, how to fix it

My MDA does not charge anymore. Nothing wrong with the battery, I put battery in my 8125, it works fine. When I put the USB connector to USB port and shake little bit sometime it charges. I guess the USB connector form MDA was loose and failed. How to fix it. I can USB connector from here http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=254157 but what part number I don't know and how to install it properly (I have the repair service manual and I already disassembly my MDA with no problem at all). The part cost about $3.00 and I am very handy with electronic components soldering but I want to be sure. I have a quote from couple places they charge about $69.00 plus shipping. It is too much. Anybody can help me. Thanks

[Q] HTC Himalaya - RS232 peculiar query...

Hi
Please excuse me being a newbie with a slightly odd question
Someone recently gave me an old HTC Himalaya to play with (O2 XDA II). The 'phone had been dropped and wouldn't charge up. Taking the battery out and charging it separately I was able to get the 'phone working fine.
I dismantled it to find that the 22-pin connector for power and data had completely detached itself and it fell out of the case. The pins were badly bent so I soldered power lines directly to the main board and it charges fine.
Now... what I really want to use this 'phone for is the heart of a vehicle diagnostics system (written in Pocket Zeus) so I need a working RS232 connection. I used Bluetooth to transfer a couple of test programs to the 'phone and they are showing that Com 1 won't open, but Com 2 and 3 will.
Can anyone tell me which ports the RS232 connections on the Himalaya match up to? In particular the port on the 22-pin connector. I can hardwire a 9-PIN D serial plug to this connection if I can get the port open.
Many thanks in advance and all help greatly received.

[Q] HELP!!! broken black wire/connector inside HD2

Hello all.
While I was taking my HD2 apart to replace a cracked screen (glass digitizer) I accidentally broke the connector off one of the wires. The wire is black and a few inches long with a silver and round press on connector on each end. It attaches to the board that houses the vibrator motor and runs down the right side of the phone (if you were looking at it face down and partially disassembled).
Unfortunately, I lost the metal piece that broke off the wire (the thing is tiny!), so I can't just solder it back on. Any idea on where I can buy a replacement? I've spent about 6 hours today on ebay and google to no avail. Searching for "HD2 black wire" and anything similar is hardly efficient, but that's all I know about it.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks,
Chris
Good question, I think I damaged the cable to the volume buttons so it would be cool if someone has an adress where we can get spare parts except LCD and Digitizer..
this guy on ebay seems to be selling an HD2 in parts. you might find what you need here:
http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Right-Click-Enterprises/_i.html?_nkw=hd2&submit=Search&_sid=131407386
Thanks, I sent that guy a message and hopefully it'll work out.
Anyone else have a source?
connector of my hd2 is also broken HTC says that the mainboard must be change and I have to pay € 230 because that is my responsibility
I think you have damaged your coaxial cable connector for wifi and bluetooth. Google will help you perhaps.
I believe that my wifi/bluetooth cable is broken, as I have no wifi or bluetooth signal since dropping my phone as reported in a previous post of mine. Can anybody advise me on the difficulty of undertaking this repair myself, does it involve complete disassembly of phone, any soldering etc. If this is the case I don't feel confident enough to do this so does anybody know of someone who does this sort of repair, I have found the cable on e bay for £7 and it looks like it has push on connectors ?
if the connectors on the boards are not broken then all you need is the coaxial cable with connectors on the two end. you need not disassemble the whole set, just open the back cover, connect one end of the cable to mother board and other end to the rigid flex board and that's it.

Do you think that this is my problem as since I dropped my HD2 I have no wifi (unless sat ontop of router) or bluetooth or fm radio, is it easy to get to the coax cable by removing back cover, whereabouts is it ?

Fixed it, opened up phone and spotted that at one end of the black wire the connector was not pushed onto the motherboard securely, I pushed it home and hey presto, wifi and Bluetooth now working, phew, Thanks for your help !

Uuuh that's bad, i hope you're able to repair the slot.
Anyway, the missing resistor is a zero ohm resistor, so could be replaced by a very thin wire.
This line represents the ID signal which identifies the type of cable connected to the port.
The other parts are components to protect the USB data lines and the ID signal against ESD (electrostatic discharge) pulses.
They look already damaged in your picture, so simply remove them. Not sure about the part type and manufacturer.
The USB port will definitely work without them, but might cause trouble and even destroy the internal logic in the case of ESD.
You may use any kind of USB ESD protection parts to replace these components.
Have a look in the schematics and BOM of Pandaboard this may help you to find a replacement...
Hope this helps!
Good luck,

Hi Mr. Scholbert
It`s me !
First of all, I do thank you for the guide you gave me before. However I must notify I haven’t been able to fix the problem after 5 months!!.
You know when I connect the tablet to my computer I get a “Malfunction” error. I even reformatted the device, and Android is missing.
I have two questions now:
1. Is there a way for me to transfer the firmware(archos_it4.aos) file to the memory?
2. Can you tell me about the path after USB socket to the main board? I mean to what the USB is connected.
I’m looking for your reply.
Thanks a lot
