Hi there,
I flashed my ROM to WM 2003 SE, and my issue is that after I finished installation of one software, there was the warning like this appear:
"The Program U have installed may not display properly because it was designed for a previous version of WM soft"
Pls help me solve this problem as I cooked my ROM, and after my Hard reset, I have to wait for these warnings, and press OK every time the warning occur. So disgusting indeed !

ignore it...only appear once after installing a programs
It is very easy to remove this warning:
1. Create a list of all the software you plan to ever install on the device
2. Contact every author to get source code to each application
3. Re-Compile (update source if nescesary) with 2003 SE compability
4. Install on your device without the warning..
5. Repeat step 3 everytime there is a software update.
C'mon!
The only time this message appears more than once, is after a hard reset..
And how often do you do that?!
Thanks for your reply, and well understood the general situation upon installation on WM2003 SE platform.
I thought I could interfere the registry in all my cab files so that the warning could not appear. Anyway, when you have any new ideas of how to avoid this warning, pls advise.

You can avoid this warning message by updating the cab file for any applications you plan to re-install frequently (or include in your extended_rom)
Use a tool like WinCE CAB Manager and change the Maximum OS Version in the CAB information to a higher value like 5.9
Thanks. I tried to follow your advice by increasing the version to even 6.0 (using Cab manager), but it could not work out.
I just got some 2 softwares upgraded compatible to WM2003SE, but for some others I have to pay for the upgrade which I cannot, as these softs are working well (except the warning mentioned)
You know, I made myself some cabs (consisting of MP3 or some themes, for example), and I often instal these cabs, and that is the reason I need to get rid of the warning.

I have downloaded the wm2003se from lumpinstefan and i could change the rom of my pocket pc to that version by using ActiveSync.
Now i downloaded another version of the rom and i tried to install it on my Qtek 1010 (Wallaby) and it in the black window on my computer appears:
"ERROR: GetConnectionType - An existing connection was forcibly closed by the rem
ote host.
error getting connectiontype"
When i press the next button in the setup it says " cannot execute the remote communication prgram. please make sure that USB/Serial is properly connected". and the setup shuts down.
i Need You to know that before the new rom i downloaded from lumpistefan i was using pocket pc 2002 on my pocket pc.
Now it's clear that there is some problems in the connection. i tried it on several computers but i faced the same problem. is there any setting on my pocket pc to change??
Please somebody helps me i really need to know how to solve the problem.

It´s an old problem copncerning to some T-Mobile ROMs
You have to flash your device via SD-Card....
Try also some looking in the wiki. The process how to flash vi SD-Card is there described...

ROM Upgrade communication error
Yeah I am having the same problem after installing the T-Mobile ROM, the same communication error when I try and change the installed ROM Image.
I did think it was something wrong with ActiveSync or my laptop :twisted:
Has anyone got any hints on how to do this on a Wannaby? (Saves me getting the wrong idea whilst reading through reams of text).

Ahh, I see from other threads, ROM Version 4.01.16 prohibits upgrade via EXE! Damn! Ive just checked and thats what I have installed!
The T-Mobile image I'm using at the moment is very slow and comes up with application errors occasionally :x

Hmm doesnt work for me. I am selecting the browse button to select the nbf file from the image and in the second drop down box selecting the sd card. When I press copy it comes up with the error ITWriteSDCard: The media is write protected, error opening target device. The card isnt locked as I can read and write files to it using explorer. Whats going on?!?!

Some internal SD-Card Writer make problems. i Think you can use also the SD-Card-Slot in your devuce, or you have to get an external Writer...

hi friends i fixed the root certificate problem!!!!
download this exe and copy it on ur mem card ,go to file exlporer in ppc
and install it
if it says demo expire then set your date 3 years back and install it after that set correct date and time.

This doesn't solve the issues of ActiveSync and other SSL dependent applications. Still get those 'server name' warnings in IE and ActiveSync is still stubbornly refusing to connect with the 0x80072F06 error.

I'm glad you've got it to work. I use Vista Enterprise - so am on WMDC. Do I have to find a ActiveSync 4.5 machine? Also I am using mun_rus & orefkov's WM6.1 ROM. Which ROM are you on?
Would appreciate if you could describe what you did after installing the sysroots. Please help - pretty desparate to get back on company e-mail.

I am using mun_rus WM6.1 ROM on windows xp sp2 i m not sure about vista

Not working on my Gene as I am unable to install my company certificate. Plz Do some thing for this...$1000 will be donated to that person who will resolve this problem.
This remains the biggest problem of the RM upgrades on Gene. Anyone like me (my work, life and entertainment runs on my WM) is screwed by upgrading to WM6.
- There is no WM5 ROM available that I know of.
- There is no resolution to the SSL certificate issue.
So upgrade to WM6 only if ActiveSync is not vital to your work.

Create windows\system\CertDtls folder on your device, and try install your certs.
Still does not work. Sorry.
Still get the dreaded 80072F06 error.
Yeah. Tried installing the certs manually, but wouldn't work. Strange..I haven't been able to figure out. I have tried Orefkov's patch file, manual install of certs, creation of the windows folder, etc. Have given up!! Have to switch my SIM to my HTC S710. Crap!!

I installed your patch on my Gene then tried to install my ROOT (company) certificate but coult not installed it shows msg that certificate could not be added please restart and try again. Then I created CertDtls folder in Windows/syaytem/ path then i allowed me to install my company certificate but I am still unable to sync my email as it shows error while syncronization that "The security Certificate on the server is not valid. Contact your Exchange Server administrator or ISP to install a valid certificate on the server" with code "0x80072F06". On the other hand if I install WM5 same company certificate work well but not on WM6 or WM6.1 , please help.

I just purchased a brand-new HTC Touch Cruise last week, and it's preinstalled with Windows Mobile 6.1. I can't downgrade because there's no ROM available. Is there any solution to this problem?

Hi,
I've got an issue trying to use some software on my Rose.
Using GW PDA Connect, its installs and synchronises ok the first time (provided I install the software unlocker available from orange developers). Subsequent attempts to run it asks me to reinstall the software. If I attempt to reinstall the application which resides on the smartphone I get the following error:
cesetup.dll
\\Windows\230\XCPCSyncSvr.exe: Error 2
A bit of googling and it basically boils down to the fact this is a Tier-3 security level problem. In order to change the security level I was going to try a registry hack but can't use any registry editor as its not digitally signed for the device.
Any help much appreciated - thanks in advance.

Each time you want to sync with PDA Connect, delete or rename the rep \Windows\230.
It's not a clean solution, but I find anything else.

Hi guys,
My problem is that I want to change system to WM 6.5 but I have bootloader 1.00.05 and I know that I need 1.00.01. Ok, I downloaded that patch from HP for this model but it says to me the known error of CODE 203 ..... because it cannot recognise my pda ok. What should I do?
I tried to replace HPruu from the HP kit with the one patched for model and... (you know the name) but rapidshare is overloaded. If I replace that file, will it work? Can someone put this file on another server in order for me to be abble to take it?
