Wizard Screen Protector - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario Accessories

Just recieved my K-JAM WriteSHIELD AG from PocketPCTechs.com. Installation was a bit of work (The smaller screen makes alignment even more critical than ever ) but it is now installed and looks good!

Fragile / weak external display

Hi fellas,
Recently got a brand new QTEK 8500 for my nephew, just 16 right now but the deal was nice so I went ahead. He's been delighted with the phone, at least until this afternoon...
A while ago he has shown me his broken/cracked external screen. Being young and somewhat careless I've told him he probably hit the phone against something without noticing, yet he's kept telling me that was not the case; the screen still has the original protection film and not a single scratch. After speaking with my sister (nephew's mother), I got a bit suspicious so went and googled some evidence about the fragility of this phone's outer display. Check here for example:
Cingular 3125 too fragile? Cracked external LCD
Cinguler 3125 external screen broken, Replacements?
Cingular 3125 | Comments
You see where I ended up... It's surprising I haven't been able to find any related thread here. I'm really wondering if none of you has had a single cracked screen from regular use on this device
Anything to tell anyone? I'm going to email HTC tomorrow and see what they have to say about this; not putting much hope tough
Cheers,
Barkuti
I am on of the first QTEK 8500 User in Austria (i think so LOL) my device is in Business use over 2 Years!! My device have hit the ground ... i have kick the phone on the wall after some on bug me a lot ... what ever.
no damage display
no damage mechanismus
work realy good
put the only thing i do ... if i put any handy in my pocket ... no keys or other items like lighter are in this pocket at the same time. if i put it in a bag ... the same.
the display is robust like razor v2 or better
No Issues for over four years. Possible cause for your screen failing is flexing as this is the weekest mode. Particular problems with tight pockets, dropped into a book bag or back pack against other objects, etc...
i must say for the months that i used my startrek, the case got rather beat up, but had no problems with the screens. the phone works great (i love the clamshell, but missed the touchscreen and keyboard of ppc's). More than likely he hit the corner of something that landed on the ext. display
I had a similar thing happen int he first week of owning the phone. It had been in my pocket and I don't recall hitting against anthing, but the screen was shattered internally. No marks of any sort on the outside.
Major bummer.
The same old story.Mine too had a cracked lcd without even letting the lid to close on its own force I was closing it it very gently. Some of them might be defective (Different production lines?).They have so many reports but they will not accept it

Wizard 8125 Brick worth an?thing?

I've come across a Wizard 8125 (was a G4) which was zapped with a g3 bootloader or something very close to that scenario. Now that paperweights are abundant on my desk I wondered if there is a home for these lil wizz'z gone dark. The screen still flickers bright white for a milisecond or so when inserting batt. the last screen ever seen on this mint condition 1 year old wizard was the one with a beer mug and a greek building i think athens ? Anywho Anybody know?

Have you tried a hard reset? If not, then try it. It should prompt you back through the start-up and screen calibration as a new flash. For info on a hard reset, read the Wiki. You can also try to flash back to the modified AP3 and see if your device is working there. You may actually have a hardware issue.

Glad you fixed your problem. Someone else in the forum had screen problems, I will advise him to try a new screen protector before he sent his unit off for repair.
please do
as i said first for me
normally screen protector packs up gradually but this time just went in one hit ?
I just picked up a new screen protecter for my 7501 from Clear Protector,
it's supposed to be bullet proof, time will tell.
It went on easily and you can't tell it from the original
screen, this stuff is supposedly used on helicopter rotor
blades lead edges to prevent damage from airborne debris.
At $9.95 an application it's not cheap.

Could you post a link? I always have many problems putting screen protectors on, and the end result is not good - bubbles round the edges etc. even with quality ones, like the Martin protector I have now. I wouldn't mind paying a bit extra for a decent one that went on easily and looked good.

Prophet Screen Cracked!

My prophet's screen has cracked the full length of the screen! The phone boots correctly with no problems with the LCD but the touch no longer works, is this easy to replace? If so how? I have got a spare prophet that won't boot but has a good touch screen that works correctly so I was hoping to make one good prophet from the two! I have noticed some real small screws inside the battery compartment and have tried a small alan key to remove them as they look that shape but have had luck!
Please help!!
Many thanks!

S740 - first impressions

Ok, I have ploughed through a load of HTC phones recently. I will admit upfront that I always like coming back to real numeric and alpha-keyboard phones for my daily phones. I was a big fan of the S710 and S620, actually my favourite HTC phones. The original HTC touch was the most enjoyable touch phone. Recently I have had the diamond, touch 3G, Tytn and loads of both HTC and other makes including the iphone. I have never been comfortable with on-screen numeric pads and keyboards. the screens need constant cleaning, there is no feedback, I am constantly worried about damaging the screen (well done apple for having a glass screen!) and its just a pain when entering numeric digits over the phone.
I will say upfront that I think the S740 is the hidden gem in the range. The design fits beautifully in the hand and the construction is top notch. It looks very stylish and the sliding keyboard doesn't wobble at all in any position. I have never had that before on a slider. The weight is just right and lends a really quality feel. The screen is excellent, the phone is fast with bags of features and a powerful cpu and good memory.
Its great coming back to keystrokes to go places rather then touch, its just so damn fast. Plenty of applications are written for smartphones and loads of free ones out there make things fun.
The UK orange version, when using the HTC home screen, has no really customisations to make one annoyed, except the orange page bookmark! Unlocking can be had for around £16.22 on the net.
Pity no hardSPL, but quite frankly I have noticed no bugs so far and its just so fast.
One of my best buys so far!
My only complaints:
-Phone is slightly heavy and long. Weighing at 140g.
Could be due to the underlying qwerty keyboard and big numeric keypads.
-Send and end buttons were too small. Could be bigger.
-Fingerprint magnet, easily scratched keypads and softkeys.
And if you've noticed, it's the only WM smartphone out there having a 256 RAM/ROM.
Only real issue I have with mine is that I'm 100% sure I haven't spilt anything on it as it's always in its slip case, but the numeric keypad on the front seems to make a kind of noise which suggests it's sticky or dirt has got behind the keys. Makes kind of scratchy noise which is a bit rubbish.
Anyone else find this?
What are my eyes seeing? An S740 post? Wow...
I love the phone, it feels great in my hand and it's also really fast.
joebi I think you've got dirt under it, I have no problem with the keys. Been using it quite a lot since I bought it in February.
