I am lost a little - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

( Sorry for my english, i'm french)
I would like to thank all those which take part to make live this forum.
But I am lost a little.
I read the pages of the forum for a long time but I still put myself questions.
I just have upgrade my Himalaya to WM5 1.60cWWE.
I would like to know if it is the last version at present.
What are all the stages has to follow to benefit the maximum of the memory of my Himalaya with WM5?
My Device informations:
- RAM size 128 MB
- Flash size 32 MB
- Storage size 95.59 MB
I saw that certain people have a directory named Storage + a directory named Ramdisk. Why?
Can we install programs in Storage and Ramdisk?
I know that certain these question were already put but I want to be sure.
Thanks

Wallaby H/W rework - more flash, more RAM ?

Has anybody done any serious upgrading to get more internal memory in Wallaby?
Looking at the System properties I would think that there is just a std. 32MB Intel StrataFlash (likely J3). I know that there are 64MB versions - and since StrataFlash is available only upto 32 MB - there must be extra footprint for another flash.
Say that it is NOT in BGA package, I would solder extra 32MB flash in there.
Also, more SDRAM would be good if it is possible upgrade.
If somebody has an insight, please advise - perhaps less smoke comes out of this thingie...
Yes, I am more into H/W than S/W
//J.Joonas
flash is where the rom is put
a rom have to be made spc to a device to work
so if you device is made for 32mb rom then
there would be no 64mb rom for it
you cant change rom from one type of device to
another

Windows Mobile 2005 for XDAII and 2.20.07

is there any good version of WM 2005? i mean it will not only detect 30MB ram but 125MB ram....... can give me the link? what is the difference between the WM 2003se 2.20.00 and 2.20.07??
Ive said this before, please read it..
WM2005 doesnt detect 30 or 32meg ram, it detects all 128meg of it. It just doesnt use it. at all. Not a bit. Nothing. Nadda.
The missing ram is not a bug, its not a problem its a DESIGN FEATURE of wm2005.
WM2005 uses ENTIRELY FLASH. this is to prevent data loss in the event of battery failure. New wm2005 devices will have much larger flash storage so this isnt going to be a problem.
The fact that the memory program shows the flash being used for running program memory as well as storage says that wm2005 DOES NOT use ram for programs at all. I expect ms will drop ram from the future spec for devices in order to lower chip count and simplify designs.
The 32meg OS memory holds the windows ROM, its write protected. no way to edit it live.
the 32meg DiskOnChip holds the Storage and Extrom, these are partitione d in some way to 2 roughly 16meg sections.
WM uses the storage partition for storage, Duh. It maps it over the windows directory and all file changes and additions are put in there.
the ExtRom directory is used for running program memory. It kills the extrom.
Remember that due to the way MS cant count, differences in the way they measure Bytes, kilibytes etc (1000 or 1024 people?) and filesystem overhead the numbers wont add up exactly at the end. But trust me, unless anyone can PROVE me wrong, this is what happens.
It may be possible to make use of the ram as a storage disk, but a custom ramdisk program would have to be written.
??
oh ya hw about WM 2003 SE version 2.20.07? is it translated version? is the fonts like very rough?? the WM 2005 safe to use?

[patching] How to increase STORAGE size?

As far as we know, in Prophet, windows mobile gives us
42.55 MB free Storage space..
..but, in some ROM modifications (maybe i'm wrong,
but for example ... probably in Smart?), I have seen
- on screenshots - Storage is bigger. Something about 47.55 MB..
And now, I wonder how can it be done?
If could someone, who know, write here a solution - would be great
Am I right? -> it's a similar modification to changing PP size... using hex editor on OS.nb file?
(thanks again to gokhanmoral !!)
best regards!

Change pp for WM6 ROM 6.0.0.0 using ActiveSync

no need to hard reset or install new Rom, just soft rest
please use this at your own risk, don't do it unless you know what it is
in shortcut, this will change the memory for you like this:
4mb pool.bat will make the total memory 52mb
6mb pool.bat will make the total memory 50mb I recomend it.
8mb pool.bat will make the total memory 48mb
10mb pool.bat will make the total memory 46mb thanks inteks
12mb pool.bat will make the total memory 44mb the official.
it will take only few seconds, 1 or 2 seconds
only now softreset no need to hardrest or format
there is installrapi.bat but I think we don't need it in WM6, hope some one confirm, and you can install it manualy, if needed only once.
you may backup the old byte by backup.bat and restore by restore.bat
please don't blame me if you do anything wrong
and just wish me best of luck if this works for you
copyright to me
thanks Gullum for testing always the first one and his great job here and your links

Storage to program!!
Thanks pal, but I need a lot of memory for my 800+ business contacts; any idea how to decrease the Storage memory in favor of programs?
I'm working in big storage for WM5 ( my ROM aku 2.2) but I can't do it tell now
when I have time, I'll work in wm6 maybe it will work I don't have time as usal these days
noob question, can u tell me the purpose of changing pp?
thanks Chopin....
please read the first post, this what you can see only as a noobie
it will change the page pool, that area will be taken from the memory to cash the modules from the ROM (read only memory) or we chall call it EPROM as it is EPROM? in this case only os.nb
this is in an easy way
hope it helped
By changing pagepool size, will there be any effect to battery drain?
no, I don't think that there is any effect
File is corrupt............
plz reupload this file in rar format

sorry my mistake
file is good
but i couldn't open it with winzip
no problem with winrar

[Q] Adapting a ROM to resize applications partition

Hi,
I have buyed since 1 year ago a Huawei G740. Due i think to less owners, there is no custom ROM like cyanogen. Ok for me.
BUT this phone is selled with a stupid internal repartition: 7GB for user and 1GB for applications.
I dont want to use link2SD or other solutions, because i want my phone to be usable without SD card.
I think i understood that it's not like a classical OS (Linux distribution, windows...) and you cant simply resize the partition with tools like Gparted. Right?
You need to adapt your own ROM to set inside the partitions size (with address and offset?) Right?
A new update (this summer) has been released, so i wanted to do it myself and just adapt this .bin to set new partitions size.
do i be in the true way?
I found some explanation on the forum to make a lot of modification in a rom extracted from the phone but nobody speak about size of partitions except for specific phones (not mine) and nothing generic.
Can you please give me links to learn how to modify partitions size of a ROM?
Processor is : Qualcomm MSM8930 Snapdragon 400 Dual-core 1.2GHz, android version is 4.1.2 (dont know is it matter)
