hello, i use an new os xda mini s. i will use it with bluetooth-gps and tom tom navigator 5 in my car. can i also use an bt-headset at the same time to place a phonecall?

Sure, I do this all the time with my K-Jam, the external speaker will stop during a phone call. If you use BT toggle to direct gps voice prompts thorough your bt headset the call will still ring through and put the audio from the gps on hold until the call ends. I've hooked up an fm transmitter to the headphone jack and played gps voice prompts through the car stereo and they continue even if a call comes through the bt headset. TomTom comes through the speaker of my XDA2, not my BT201 Headset. I am running the 'latest' O2 ROM upgrade v1.60.50:
TomTom support informed me "2. Using a Bluetooth headset as well as the Bluetooth GPS receiver has been tested positively on this PDA. Please contact the O2 Support if your PDA does not connect to two Bluetooth devices at the same time. "
I've tried contacting O2 Support & given up after 30 minutes on TWO occasions

I believe that this is correct but you have just misinterpreted what they have said. I think that what they mean is you can still use your BT headset for making and receiving calls while using the BT GPS receiver, this doesn’t mean the sound will go out through the BT headset, this isn’t possible.
However having said that, I don’t actually own a BT GPS receiver so I can't be 100% sure, I could be wrong and if I am I'm sure one will correct me.
I can confirm that using my Bluetooth Headset with a Holux GR230 bluetooth receiver is working fine for making and receiving calls in tomtom 3. But to get tomtom instructions throught the headset would by nice too, but I think there are still bluetooth profiles missing?? (audio profile?) I have installed Bluetooth tools.

yeah I've done it a bunch of times.
it works ok with a standard bt ear set but if you try the higher quality stereo set up i had all sorts of problems. The audio would slow down as the data wasnt getting through quick enough, then when it got the data it would play it fast to catch up to where it should be.
Two bluetooth devices
I have had no problems connecting a bluetooth GPS device and a Motorola headset at the same time.
I find the devices are more reliable if the bluetooth is connected first, then the headset.
When receiving a call on the headset the GPS and TomTom continue to work BUT I lose the sound from the TomTom programme - which has never caused any problems.
Cegmawr, have you done this using a BT Stereo Headset like the HT820? or using a standar mono BT headset?
I have an HT820 and when the GPS is on, i loose the Audio, it starts skipping
Make sure devices are Bluetooth 2 not 1.1
I had a Bluetooth 2 GPS and a bluetooth 1.1 hansfree speaker - bioth kept dropping out.
I now have a bluetooth 2.0 GOS and am using a Seimend Bluetooth Car Kit - all works perfectly, as it does with Nokia nd SoneyEric bluetooth headsets... seem s to me that Bluetooth 2 is the key.
Also, TomTom automatically mutes itself if you're in a call, nothing to do with Bluetooth.

I walk to work and back everyday and I listen to my DAB radio all the time.
Problem is (and I realise its not the biggest problem in the world) I can't hear my phone so always miss calls.
Can anyone think of a solution so I can get audio from my DAB into the Hermes so I can listen to the radio and when I get a call, it interupts the audio? I thought about using the mini usb but that only has a mic in and if I use that, if the phone rings all they'll hear is my radio

So I bluetooth audio to my Hermes then use the wired headphones/mic to listen to it and if I get a call, the audio stops?!

I have had a pair for about a year and the sound is great. You can connect the included dongle your DAB or any other non blue tooth audio device and set up a link between your phone and the dongle with the headset. While you are listening to your music from the DAB if you receive a call the headset silences the music and you can answer the call directly from the headset. When the call ends your music resumes automatically. I may be a little pricier than device you listed but works like a charm.
Note make sure you look at the 590a not the 590e. The 590e does not include the dongle.
Also don't purchase it directly from Plantronics site. You can get it for about $100 if you search the web for it.

Can anyone confirm that Sat Nav commands are streamed to a blue tooth speaker ?
I would like to use the Sat Nav on my phone but the in-built speaker isn't upto the job. A simple blue tooth speaker would be fine, if it works. . . .or are there any other alternatives.
Any help or recommendations would be most welcome.

I use a Venturi mini (http://www.myventuri.com/home.aspx ) and it stream BT sat commands, phone calls and even my .mp3 music to my car radio, separate or even together.....it's excellent, especially as it's powered from cigarette lighter socket
Thanks for this - I do like the look of the Venturi mini, and the usb charging function would be ideal, but I would prefer an independent speaker so that I can still use my cars radio/media player. What it does prove is that I can stream commands using A2DP to a bluetooth device.
I can confirm BT speaker output for two navigation softwares:
IGO8 and ALK Copilot.
Using a Blaupunkt car audio unit named "Hamburg MP68" with A2DP streaming.
Working quite well, the same as my BT stereo headphone, a Plantronics 590E.
If you connect a bluetooth headset/ a2dp device, all sounds should play over bluetooth, so it should work without any problems

Yes, but some devices, such as the Jabra BT3030 go into standby between commands and by the time it has come to life again, and received the audio half of the audio is missing, or you don't get any of it.
Well I'm going to try a Jabra SP700 and see if it works - I'll let you know.
My Jabra SP700 works fine with TomTom & streams music. I'd certainly recommend it.
is there anyway to get the satnav to interupt your cars headunit the same way that a call does.
i.e im listening to my headunit (fm radio) in car. infact no matter what source i'm listening to if a call comes in the source is interupted and the call can be auto answered.
but when satnav has an instruction to give it does not interupt the headunit source! to get the satnav voice over you have to be in bluetooth audio mode!
while playing audio from your phone mp3 etc to the headunit satnav will over voice it. i thought i found the solution by having the radio on my phone on playing through bluetooth audio but it won't let you it only has the ability to play through wired headset or speaker!

i must add. yes i realise the wired headset acts as the radio antenna. so what i want is the wired headset plugged in = antenna but sound to go through bluetooth
