MMS Problem on New ROM 20060426B1WWE - iPAQ rw6828, XDA Atom Software Upgrading

There is a problem with sending MMS by adding numbers from contacts...
I believed I have located the cause of the problem.
When you create a new MMS, you have to add an contact person on the To: field
If you do it through the default contact manager, it will add somehting like "My Name" <043317918X>
u completed the mms and click send
sends the mms to provider... sending all the photos and stuff.. and it reaches the end of the transmittion at around 90%... then the To number is sent...
here is the problem... the To: number is not in the correct format!
so the provider stops the tranfer and u get an error.
You can see this problem by going back to the outbox and look at your
To: field.
It WILL look something like To: "My Name" <043317918X
with the last character ">" MISSING.
I tired typing in the numbers manually i.e. 043317918X and everything works fine.

William,
I do agree with you, i have found the same issue, when sending the MMS.
i think it is the problem with the atom. As we send the MMS, it goes more than 90% and then fails. when you go to the out box there is > missing which is making the MMS to fail. I tried editinig, but still fails and appear that > is missing again Eg. i select a name and it appears "name" <960xxxxxxx> but in the inbox it is "name"<960xxxxxxx_ where the > is missing
i dint exp this in the previous ROM. any one with the old ROM please check and reply...guess everyones upgraded their atom huh???!!!
btw xxxxxxx is just eg. of a 7 digit mobile number in Maldives

it works if you type in the mobile number manually.
this problem does not exist with pervious rom, i used it a few times before.

MMS Problem on New ROM
ok, thanks for advice! You might need to add the area code for your provider or your country and it will work! for exemple: +410XXXXX

TEXT MESSAGES

Can anyone tell me how received text messages will dispaly caller info? My xda just gives the phone number so I have to trawl through the contacts to recognise the number.
Can anyone give me a good link for cool info as in skins, clocks etc..
Thanks
Steve
This is a very well known and documented problem (try searching before posting), firstly upgrade your ROM to the latest version. Edit all of your contacts to include the country code (for me in the UK that means +44 & dropping the 0).

SMS - Contacts O2 XDA

Hi Guys,
Just a quick question regarding contacts. I sync with my outlook contacts at work, when i try and send a sms i press the contacts button. The thing is, it shows me an entry for each type of number
ie
Ali 07833454543
Ali +442078763345
Ali [email protected]
so thats three entries for one person !... as you can imagin it makes the list very long.
is there anything i can do, so that it just shows one line for each person, but when you select it, it shows the other numbers?
thanks
Ali
any ideas chaps?
a no would do
Mine does the same mate - don't know how to resolve it, SMS Name doesn't fix it that's for sure, and I've loaded SER 1.2 now... I guess it's 'cos you're using multiple service types, you have to see the different addresses (POP3/SMS)
in outlook, are your contacts displayed correctly?
What would be REALLY intelligent would be some way to have a shortcuts or "speed dial" list for SMS addressing. I only send SMS to a half-dozen people out of my 225 contacts. It would have been smart to allow you to address an SMS with the speed dial contact or some other list.
Any developers want to create some software for this? Guaranteed I'll buy it.
sms
its a lot easier with ppc 2003

Bring forth your findings then.
Don't dangle the carrot like that !!!!
ppc2003
hi
in ppc 2003 you dont have to find the contact by pressing the contacts iclon you just type there name in and it gives you options on the name also it has a character counter so you know how many you have typed. it also seems to run faster and my battery seems to last longer. i havent set the internet up yet but i will this coming week.

I have an similar problem
I notice it does not work when try to assign a picture and ringing tone Name (None) Company (None) if your contact has First Name and Lat Name or company name details . i.e. select category Business . Then try to assign/select a picture to the contact name you will experience the above issue:roll:
There was suppose to be an upgrade out already to correct these issues
with WM2003., so I suggest you check their web site. But if its not available for download yet try contacting them via email thats what a friend of mine did and them sent him a copy.
If all fails take a look at Pic&Ring ($10.00)

Dear,
If you decide to keep using picture2caller as is, you need not alter info in your contact list to make it work. You can manually assign contact number (even when the program does not recognize the contact and shows "None" sign). This trick will work well since the pic will pop up when the call is in via the program and the information of the caller will appear exactly as that in the standard contact program. BTW, you can only assign only one number to one contact at a time

Caller ID on SMS Texting

I have just got myself a XDA unlocked and using it on T-Mobile. My question is, when i receive call from contacts in my address book it shows who is calling, but when i receive a text message from the same person, it just shows the number and not their name. Can anyone tell me what I need to do to make it show their name because I don't understand why it isn't?
Thanks
Dr :? :?
I have sorted it myself thanks!
Hi ...
if you are happy with your current ROM you can got to www.yorch.net and search for "SMS patch" at applications section, or you can cook a new ROM that has this fix already.
Thanks for that, cheers
all sorted now

Incoming/Outgoing callers doesn't match phonebook

Good day!
Not sure if this has been posted before or if anyone has encountered this issue with any Android device out there. I have an Android phone called Kata i1. It's powered by a dual-core MediaTek MT6577 chipset with 1gb of RAM (ICS 4.04). Now to the issue I'm experiencing with this device. Whenever I save all my contacts phone number to the international format, the incoming/outgoing calls will not match with the phonebook. I'm located in the Philippines by the way. So the phone always receive the callers number on a non-international format (e.g. 0918 123 4567). Now if I change the phone numbers to a non-international format, I have no problem with that as it matches the phonebook. However I'll be having an issue now with SMS because all the incoming sms received will have the phone numbers formatted internationally. If I SMS one of my contacts and they reply, the reply will show on another thread which is kinda annoying.
I prefer that my contacts phone number on international format. Do you guys have any idea how to resolve this issue? Do you think replacing the stock contacts and phone apk will resolve it? Hope you could help me out. Thanks!
Seems no one is having this kind of issue.
Sent from my i1 using xda app-developers app
Could someone with a dual-sim MT6577 (qHD) phone give me a copy of their contacts and phone apk? Thanks!
FIXED! see my followup message.
I have this problem too with my Galaxy Note2.
an incoming call or SMS from 01234 567890 will only match contacts in the address book (google) if the contact uses the same 01234 format.
if the contact is stored the way I prefer, i.e. +44 1234 567890, then it doesn't match.
if I dial the contact or send a message to that contact using the address book, then the log matches up as you'd expect.
I am fairly sure when I first had my Note2 that it did do the matching, but it was on a firmware released for Hong Kong (where I imported my phone from), and I subsequently changed to a more suitable firmware for use in UK.
I did post about this problem elsewhere on XDA Devs but none of the ideas worked
I gave up on fixing it until recently when I upgraded my firmware to the latest Vodafone release as I hoped that would fix it, and it still didn't do the matching, so thought to look for help again.

FIXED!
OK, the problem wasn't on my phone. I stumbled into this thread which made me think perhaps the problem was with Google's contact management system and not the phone:
https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=23092
so I went to https://contacts.google.com then clicked the "cog" settings and changed my language and phone number settings country away from the UK, did ok, went back in and changed back to UK.
now I can enter contacts in the preferred +44 1234 567890, with the spaces, and an incoming call matched!
it doesn't seem to retrospectively match old call logs, or old SMS chats, which is disappointing.
