Atom is dead ! - iPAQ rw6828, XDA Atom Software Upgrading

Hi @ll
today in the morning i recognized that my atom was dead. only with the o2 boot screen no bootloader mode everything is dead. Only the red lamp for charging thats all. what would you suggest to do. i bought it at expansys here in germany.

Remove your battery and put it back after one or two minutes.

re
@victoradjei
thank you. but no sucess nothing still dead no bootloader mode no screen only red lamp when charging.

re
does someone know the if this is the right adress for the service center in HK
O2 Zone Service Center
Room 1811
18/F Park-In Commercial Centre
56 Dundas Street
Mongkok Kowloon

That is the Addres, but you just cannot post your Atom there without a service reference.
Call the HK technical support number on the O2 site or O2 Connect, and they will give you the name of someone at the service centre for his attention, so he becomes your contact. The service centre and technical support are two different locations and functions

re
@victoradjei
thanks. do you an email contact to. For me writing is easier than speaking ;-)

re
@victoradjei
fyi,
i only have to send the item to expansys. everything else will be done by them.

It doesn't communicate with activesinc.
Anyone ideas???
Thanks
Same thing happened me on Tuesday 18th. My supplier kindly gave me a new XDA. I don't know if this helps.
phone O2 (previously and soon te be Telfort) and log your problem.
I told them the update from their website had ****ed my XDA
They gave me a reference number to send it back to them (it's still under waranty) and they said they'll fix it. Though I dunno whether that'll be replacement or whether they'll just reflash it.
White Screen of doom
Same thing happened to me. Nothing works. very anoying and the second time i'm going to lose all my contacts and recent notes (travelling so they haven't been backed up for a while =( )
Dan
Same thing here too .. radio update killed my XDA
call it in to O2 customer service
they will fix it free if you still have warranty left (as they did for me) otherwise they will send you a bill
Took them slightly over a week to send it back to me. They sent it back to me with all the latest updates.

XDA Service Center UK

Hi Folks
Have just recieved my xda2 back from the uk service center. Credit due, they were quick and helpful, but the faults are still the same. Theyd upgraded the extROM but apart from that it appears nothing has changed.
The ROM is o2 1.66WWE and ive been having numberous freezing problems, I thought about upgrading the ROM to 1.72 imate but of course i guess once this is done, if something goes wrong o2 wont support the device any more. The other problem is i cant quite pull enough information together from the thousands of topics on this board to find out how to upgrade, what to use, what to do if it goes wrong, etc. Does anyone know of a recommended guide?
Aside from that, what does everyone think? Shall i continue to send it back to o2 or take matters into my own hands and start upgrading?
For anyone who ends up in the same situation as me, i had the device returned to me recently and the service center had changed the motherboard. Now it works perfectly fine, not problems and chances are if i had flashed to 1.72imate i wouldve had the same problems due to hardware fault and o2 wouldnt have supported me anymore. Tread carefully o2 upgraders

Sounds like a blown fuse on the motherboard, do a search on this forum for details of repair procedure.
How long you had the unit?
If you, like myself, are not as technically advanced as some others, and you haven't had the phone long, send it back to whomever the manufacturer was and they will likely fix it. I bought an Siemens SX56 from ebay a couple of months ago and had the exact same problem, told me to do a hard reset first, that did nothing, then I sent it in to get fixed, apparently it was easier and cheaper for them to just send me a new unit because in about a week and half, I had one at my door. Of course, the unit I sent in was unlocked, as I use cingular and the Siemens is an ATT phone, but the new unit was locked to ATT, that's how I found this site, I had it unlocked in 5 minutes. Anyway, if you have had the phone less than 60 days, I would send it in and get it fixed.
that's one problem,
I live in the netherlands, and i bought it from my uncle who lives in Singapore....and he bought it there....
But I'll check the forum to see what I can do about it....
thnx anyway

Dear h0t_Sh0t, I have few advices that might help..
1- Check if your device has International warrenty.
2- Check is the connector socket is loose from inside or not well connected, this is where the little thing goes inside the imate to connect. Mine got loose one month ago, and then was almost broke, then did not charge or make Sunc, I got it to be repaired at almost US $ 65.
Hope this helps.

my vodafone 1605 vpa dead

hello
I was in the trip in England and bought a device of exit poll: vodafone compact iii ( vodafone1605 ) and when I returned to my national I live in Israel, i only used it for 29 days before it started playing up. everything on the handset worked perfectly but until the 29th day. it just wouldnt turn on anymore.(Of course that tried to upgrade the device without to examine if it cid-lock )
I approached the importer of HTC in my country and he told me that they are not repair in the device of vodafone these only of htc and because on me to turn to Vodafone.
To the something there is an idea I live in Israel and can't arrive at England what I can do?
Tried to do number 6 from here:http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_UpgradeProblems#problem3
but the device is unwilling to work simple dead
Why don't you phone Vodafone UK and see what they suggest? They probably send the phones back to HTC for repair anyway so maybe they could arrange for you to send it to HTC directly.
Thanks for the attempt to help
yesterday I spoke with delegate vodafone uk on the phone +447836191191 In his words because must bring the device directly to them and it's impossible to send the device in the registered mail
There is an other solution because I will not mean to traveler soon to England
Try Vodafone Business Customer Services: +44 8700 746 464. As long as you tell them you use the phone for work purposes they will accept you as a business customer.
For me they always do a next day replacement of handset (by courier - with the courier picking up the old handset at the same time). Perhaps if you have a friend in the UK you can send your phone to them and then get Vodafone to send the courier to their address?

What the f... has happened to the O2 Plus download?!

I had to do a full reset because of unstability, but when I fired up O2 Connect to get O2 Plus, it wasn't there! Does anybody have a copy, or can anybody tell me what I'm doing wrong here? Last time I set up the phone it was there without any hesitation. I'm dependant on that thing!

hmmm... I hear that MWG group is taking over O2 Asia and that all downloads and support has been moved to mwg website. This might explain it:
Code:
It has been announced on 1st of November 2007 with immediate effect, Mobile and Wireless Group (MWG) will be taking over O2 Asia's assets in an agreement between MWG and Telefónica O2.
MWG is a company established by the current management team of O2 Asia to take on O2's existing PDA/Smartphone business in Asia and to continue to serve this high-growth sector.
To be kept up to date on the latest software applications, ROM upgrades and user tips for your current O2 device, please click here to be a part of MWG Connect on or before 15 Jan 2008. This will also ensure you are the first to hear about MWG's products, services and special offers.
Profiles of customers who have yet to opt in to MWG Connect will continue to be stored in O2's databases and may be dealt with in accordance with O2's data policy.
MWG will be responsible for warranty and after-sales support for all O2 Xda devices in the region. For up to date information on our service, please check support page before visiting the service centers.
We thank you for your continued support.
Yours truly,
O2 Asia
Thanks, but I don't think so, I have been there. It doesn't mention O2 Plus at all, only the totally useless SMS Plus, Media Plus and a few other silly things. Also I tried to download with the O2 Connect, and it had all those other programs in there, but not the O2 plus. And I'm also missing O2 Menu, which I have also been using since I got the Atom Life. Fishy stuff...
nice title W..T...F LOL hehehe
What's even nicer is that I finally found it. It's hidden within O2 Themes in the auto installer! Silly place to put it, but at least I found it. So now I have the % battery strength on the Today screen, and I can close programs totally with the long tap.
O2 plus is unstable
I missed ik as much after re set whan i did not find on O2 connect. then MGM people sent to me and moment i install it works fine but once one sets the current date it hangs and has to be hard reset and the same spiral is repeated...i stii miss % battery and close program menu but have come to live without.
