Where is the new TyTN rom [email protected]!T - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam Software Upgradin

I thought this buyout of Qtek, was going to allow us to get roms as soon as they were released. Not having to go through the same testing hoops and such. There are some major problems with my TyTN that I am certain can be fixed with rom updates. But where are they? HTC slow down on releasing all these new phones and take of the ones you already released. Sorry i had to vent, this [email protected] bluetooth A2DP skipping problem is driving me mad!

you are welcome to make you anger free I am also disappointed about HTCs device TyTN (aka Trion). I better should taken another phone under 2 yrs contract ...
only small issues:
bluetooth problems
wlan problems
modem problems (GPRS/UMTS/G3)
... and some other i didnt discovered so far ...
so you are not alone with the slowness of HTC. But even O2 brought an update, but they didnt fixed major issues ... dont know what they changed at the rom ... they probably took the old rom and gave them a newer date and rolled them out for fun ...

This is windows mobile specific and not device specific. poutlook does this even in the latest aku 3.2, and only microsoft can change this but not ROM integrators (at least without using 3rd party customizations).

Surely someone uses a good and reliable peice of 3rd party software which handles Emails better, if someone needs it. Anyone?

WebIS has flexmail and I don't know who makes it but there is also QMail which I beleive is freeware. I have not used either product but have heard lots of good things.

Yeah, I have an Exchange Activesync account that works fine, its my personal IMAP account that doesn't work properly

Oh, ok. Never mind then. Sorry.

8525 as PDA - upgrading to WM6 necessary?

My 8525 is on the way - to arrive tomorrow, knock on wood.
I've been all over Google and the wikis researching this thing, but haven't come up with a clear answer for my situation. So any experience would help!
I will NOT be using this as my primary phone - I have a handy dandy 3125 that works fine in that department. In fact, unless something breaks, I doubt the 8525 will ever see a SIM card.
For me the 8525 will be a fun gadget - a wifi PDA with a keyboard. So if I want to sit out on the porch and chat on Yahoo messenger, I can. Or look up eBay auctions and surf myspace and youtube.
All via wifi.
(I'll also play a bit of chess and other games, should I ever find the software, but that's another story).
But from what I've read, the yahoo messenger disappears with the WM6 upgrade, and the "new" version doesn't work over wifi. So is the upgrade worth it? Will the web be better with WM6? Is there an alternate way to use Yahoo Messenger over wifi that won't cost any extra, but will work just as well?
I understand I gain stability and some aesthetic enhancements, but is WM5 that bad for my intents and purposes? Or does WM6 actually fit the bill better, albeit with a few tweaks?

Yes you should up grade you are better off and if you use Aim,MSN,Yahoo try use thing this program http://www.lonelycatgames.com/?app=slick Its great and free!
Windows Mobile 5 was fully functional, with a few quirks, but 6 has quirks too. Do a google search on WM5 WM6 differences and see if anything listed would be beneficial to you. I know there were upgrades to IE in the WM6 upgrade, but if you are going to be doing lots of web browsing, you will probable want to upgrade your browser to Opera, Opera mini, Netfront or etc.anyway which negates that benefit.
Bottom line is, try it as it comes and research any shortcomings you find to see if an upgrade would help.
well......its not necessary, but then, why rob urself of the fun you can have flashing roms?

Fix for official Sprint Touch Pro Picture Mail...

**Update**
My Official fix for this issue is here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=57848
You can disregard this thread now...
****
Hey all,
OK, Like most other people using the Sprint Stock ROM on their Touch Prio and the Sprint MMS Official CAB, I was experienceing delayed sending (sometimes hours) and delayed receiving (woul dnot receive unless I physically opened the MMS app)....
However, this CAB seemned to fix it on my Sprint Touch Pro with STOCK ROM...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3281937&postcount=8
It appears to be Arcsoft MMS for another region/platform (sony Ericsson Xoeria X1). When you install it, there is no apparent app, and there are a few reg entired - that's it. Don't sweat it.
So, Install the above CAB then soft reset for good measure - then uninstall it right away. Whatever this installed, altered, and/or left behind caused my TP to send within a minute or two, and receive just fine....
(Backround info:
I installed this just thinking it was another version of arcost to try on my TP - After installation, I couldn't find anything other than a few files that it placed on my phone, and then I deleted it because I knew it wasn't like the other, functional, installs... Then BAM, perfect sprint Pic Mail 100% of the time there after....
Seems to be 100% fixed - finally!
Can you guys try this as well and report back. I want to see if this was just a fluke...
Thanks,
Matt!
Has anyone else tried this? There is an Arcsoft MMS specifically for Sprint here in the forums as well.
Mine takes forever to send too and am thinking about trying this. But the last time I changed my picturemail crap I had to spend an hour on the phone with Sprint to have them reset my PM account.

Yea,
I have tried every Arcsoft release under the sun and, as many others can confirm, none work properly on the Stock Sprint ROM.
Therefore, I am using Sprints official PicMail app. The app is fine, howeve,r it tends to take hours to send and receive picture - making it pretty much useless.
The fix i discussed in the 1st post of this threas uses an arcsoft installation/uninstallation that actually fixes the sprint pic mail app.
I have already confirmed from others that this works.
I don't forsee any issues at all trying this fix - especailly due to the lack of files installed - AND the fact that it is immediately uninstalled.
Let us know,
Matt!
so wait ur going to have to explain this better.....
Do we have the Sprint Picture mail Application on still installed on our phones when we install Acrsoft? ..ur not making much sense in ur instructions

Ok,
a) Make sure you have the newest version of Sprint Mail installed on your Touch Pro
b) Install the cab from my first post to your device (main memory)
c) Right after it is installed, go ahead and soft reset.
d) UNinstall the cab you just added (arcsoft)
e) Soft Reset
f) Enjoy your Sprint Pic Mail better because the lag is gone!
Make sense?
Matt!

I have a question is it just parts of the program left behind after uninstall or registry tweaks because if its registry tweaks wouldnt it be easier just to post the tweaks.
just want to let you know that though i dont know whether installing and uninstalling the arcsoft cab fixes anything but it has been confirmed to me from sprints top tech that they have been experiencing picture mail problems nation wide. and everything seems to be ok for non black berry users now, just want to see if other ppl are having better luck with the picture mail since last night.
i would just like to be able to use it. only one person told me she got my pic( she has a blackberry) but other than that no one else gets my pics!!!
i would love to fix this
didnt work for me and i followed all of killerQ's steps.
well i tried it both ways and i actually got my mms alot quicker.. Thanks

Ford Sync/MyTouch

I know this impacts what is probably a very small percentage of users, but it looks like the DNA may work with the MAP protocol for voice texting over the Ford Sync/MyTouch interface. Need to do some additional testing, but so far it is promising.

Man, you got me all excited! However, I just tried the txt feature on my vehicle and txt didn't work. I have a 2010 F-150 which has SYNC but is pre MyTouch. For whatever reason it seems that only old phones (ie RAZR) support this feature with, at least, my truck.
awesome man! my dad has a 12 Taurus limited and getting a 13 Taurus limited within a few weeks after its built! i will test on both when i get the chance and report back! as you might know the 12 doesnt have my touch but the 13 does so i will be able to tell you for sure within a week or two hopefully!

Why would you want to? Ford sync supports bluetooth streaming audio
I can't even get my stock DNA to pair with my 12 focus titanium.
hmm, must have an upgraded BT stack. It is needed to support the text reading.
Yeah, we have had absolutely no problem with BT streaming over my rezound or my wife's tbolt on our 12 Explorer with mytouch.
If that doesn't work for you, you can always just pop in a usb stick with as much music on it as you want.
The dna does not support the map bluetooth profile. You can't do texting with the Ford sync system, I have tried.

You can create and send texts through MFT?
I have an '11 Explorer limited and my MFT only reads my texts to me... but I can't voice-create a reply text.. can you?
Beat em up on sync my ride.com feed those engineers as much info as we get here on XDA. this is a great community with lots of brains... if a 2012 unit is working well user hardware stacks/protocol shouldnt be the failure point. The more info/nagging you give the Ford team the faster we can all receive software fixes. Most should be released as a CIP (inst via USB/no need for an appt) BT Stack changes may require VIP (OEM firmware upgrade) regardless u pay a premium for a beautiful my touch/sync system and they pay teams of coders for customer satisfaction. But its harder to fix if they don't know what's broken. The techs and service writers have their hands tied on a lot of this stuff and social media etc will lead to better products as well as features. Tell them what you want !!!

Ford Edge 2012...
Very strange behavior, but today, for the first time I got a text message. It was one my wife sent me earlier in the day. I can't think of anything new I have done to either my phone or my car.
I was able to reply to her from the preset responses when the car was not in motion. I didn't receive any other text she sent or the response she sent from the preset response I sent her (she got that message and it said it came from Sync).
I am using Handsent for texting on my phone.
I did this before updating to the new DNA firmware (which I did tonight and I will check texting again in the AM).
VERY strange...
I've had my 2013 escape notify me of text and read them back but could not send them. It doesn't always work either kind of hit and miss.

You have to be stopped (not in motion, like at a stoplight) for you to be able to respond back.
I just wish I could figure out why it works some times and not other times to receive texts. If it works once, then it should be able to work all the time.

[Q] Ford Sync blue tooth text message error

Hi everyone,
I'm having an issue with my Note 2 when connected to my Sync system in my Lincoln MKS. I'm able to pair successfully, stream music, make phone calls and it works just the way it should, but when I try to choose the text message option I receive an error message stating that "Text messaging is not supported on the phone currently connected by Bluetooth." Well, ok . . . except it is. I know the phone has the correct blue tooth profile on it to allow SMS to be displayed on Sync, and I know Sync has worked correctly before because it worked perfectly with my Droid RAZR MAXX. I really miss this feature, it's not the end of the world but it's really aggravating that this phone has the necessary profile, Sync has worked correctly in the past (I'm pretty sure it's up to date, that's the one thing I'm still needing to confirm but I would think that if it worked with the RAZR it would work with the Note 2) and yet here I am with no capability of texting. I contacted both Samsung and Ford even though I really look at this as a Samsung issue, and both were useless, though Ford didn't suggest I hard reset my phone (and I still don't know why I humored Samsung on that anyways) but if anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.
FWIW the text feature didn't work on the Galaxy Nexus either. This points to an issue on the Samsung end. Hopefully it's not a hardware limitation on the Note 2.

Ugh, that's annoying, I wasn't aware of that. It's just so strange because all the pieces are in place - Sync requires MAP, the bluetooth profile loaded on to the Note 2 includes MAP - but clearly something is putting a stop to it. This is the only negative I've found about the phone so far and it's not worth returning it over, but man is it annoying.

Lol, whoa... settle down.
Works for me in my 2012 Focus.
Worked on my Galaxy S3, too, when I ran it stock.
Also, it wouldn't have worked on a stock Galaxy Nexus because MAP is not part of AOSP. Some ROMS did have it built in, though.
Have you tried a Reset on SYNC?

Trying to find helpful information on the SYNC side is frustrating. MyFordTouch vs SYNC with navigation vs plain SYNC. Then throw in the different software versions for each hardware version and on top of that trying to decipher which ones are capable of a software upgrade.
Maybe Samsung and Ford finally collaborated on the 2012 models? My F150 is a 2011.

Check out this link http://www.ford.com/technology/sync/#check-compatibility as it will have the compatible phones for each sync system. I understand you have everything setup properly and its not working but its my understanding if the phone isn't listed on the compatibility list then more than likely it wont work. I would also check online once this phone gets a little bit older in age to see if Ford updates sync to be compatible with this phone and a lot of other new ones that have been released. Hope this helps

Sorry but that other dude was just annoying me and not helping me in the least. It's fine to not know the answer, but just admit to it and/or don't post, preferably the latter. Unless you have the same car and phone, what worked for you is completely irrelevant to what will work for me. You at least have a suggestion, too bad it didn't work.

Yeah, I don't think of this as a Ford issue but they are making it unnecessarily difficult to rule them out. I have a 2010 Lincoln MKS, picked it up in June, and there's no way short of taking it to a dealer to know if Sync is up to date or not. Fortunately (uh, I guess . . . ) for me I discovered a pretty nasty transfer case leak when changing the oil the other day, so the big girl is heading to the dealer on Monday to get that sorted out and I'm just gonna have them make sure she's all up to date on Sync, TSB's, have them figure out why I get these intermittent squeaks from the stereo, just get her all in good shape. For the record, here's the facts I am certain of:
FACT: I have a 2010 Lincoln MKS with Sync in it.
FACT: My previous phone was a Droid RAZR MAXX.
FACT: When the RAZR MAXX was connected to Sync, the text message feature worked perfectly.
FACT: My current phone is a Galaxy Note 2.
FACT: I am able to connect my Note 2 to my Sync without issue and am able to make phone calls and stream Google Music over it.
FACT: Here is what I see when I choose text messaging on the screen.

Have you tried this rom. It indicates it has MAP support but from CM so maybe it won't work. I'm trying the same things on my Nexus 4 with Ford Sync/Touch. I can live without it, but it sure is hard to sit next to my husband with his iphone which does work with MAP. My Sync software doesn't even have the same settings (that I've been able to find) as the manual shows: "Advanced phone options; Enable MAP." Good luck. I have made requests on several Google threads that they re-instate their previous BT stack which apparently had MAP working before the latest updates.

I almost wish you hadn't pointed that out to me, haha, but I'll flash it in a day or so when I get a chance. I wanted to keep a Touchwiz ROM so I could keep S-pen and particularly multi-window, but I don't really use those features as much as I thought I would when I got the phone, so maybe it won't be the end of the world to not have them.
The whole situation is really puzzling, every piece of documentation I've found states the Note 2 has MAP support out of the box. My vehicle is a 2010 so it's the pre-MyFordTouch, but I have checked with Ford and they've stated it supports MAP, and what REALLY boggles the mind is the Droid RAZR MAXX I had prior to the Note 2 worked perfectly with it, so it's not like I'm asking for something I simply can't have or that hasn't worked before.
Making the situation even stranger is I had a loaner vehicle while the car was in for service, which was a 2012 MKT with MyFordTouch and it worked absolutely perfectly with the Note 2 for the few days I had it, text messaging and all. It's different software than on my 2010, but now I'm not sure who's really to blame, Samsung or Ford.
Oh well. Maybe Motorola will step up with a 5.5"+ screen and a MAXX battery when it's time for me to get a new phone in September and then I can have all the things I want in a phone.
my toro never was able to show SMS messages, and even my stock note 2 couldn't ... got rooted, and put CarbonRom, no joy. Using Jelly Beans ROM. If I get an SMS on the phone, I might see it... just flashed it this morning cause CarbonROM (as of 19 March 2013) didn't have a working tether (without third party software).
Showing SMS texts isn't a deal breaker for me though... sorry your phone doesn't work. I will say Ford Sync has been pretty awesome for streaming audio, and phone calls though. I had heard from my dealer that I shouldn't update my SYNC in my 2010 Fusion Hybrid, as there have been further issues with the software updates. The dealer suggested that there were updates that could be applied (as opposed to the failed 'at home' updates that I attempted to apply with no luck). And I don't want to fix what really isn't broken.
help
This info has to help. Have an HTC m one 8 and Sync.
All features worked fine for 1.5 years. Phone did a system (os)
upgrade and now receive same text message error. Hope this
helps steer the trouble shooting. Please let me know if you
find anything.

5.1.1 and text messages

I'm not sure if this problem is isolated to me or if it affects everyone, so I thought I'd ask.
tl;dr: text messages don't persist on the phone, and in Google Messenger in particular, outgoing texts don't display as part of the conversation.
I use Google Messenger by default, and I noticed that none of the text messages I sent were appearing in the conversation history. Turns out, they weren't reaching the recipients either.
I switched to Google Hangouts, and all of the texts I received from (and sent to) other people before my upgrade were present, but any texts I received from others were gone.
I tried deleting and reinstalling Google Messenger, thinking maybe it was a version/cache thing, and again, any text I received before the upgrade was present, but none since the upgrade, including any I had received while using Google Hangouts.
Something definitely seems f%@#ed up here. Am I alone?

Same here. Verizon's messaging app works though, and actually seems half decent.
Yep just got off phone with VZ support and that is the workaround (use Verizon Messages Plus) they are doling out as a fix to the problem, says tech will be getting in touch with Sony for fix and may be another small update for it.
Lots of reddit users are having the same issue. If you're up for it, it looks like a factory reset will fix the problem.
Had to do a frigging factory reset, but all works well now

FDR sucks, wife will not be happy. I have a replacement phone to activate replacing the one I just updated, so will activate then do factory reset.
Bites.
Is anyone else having tissues access visual voicemail?

Did a factory data reset on new phone after update, takes a long time to boot sets at check mark screen for several minutes, standard text does work now.
Factory reset does fix text
I haven't had many phones. I'm assuming this doesn't happen to often, cause this is crazy. What if only 10% of you having update issues needed your phone for work? How can companies stay in business doing this kind of thing?

If it is a company supplied phone I would think that any modifications would be forbidden, any good IT department would be on top of any shananagans as such. I'm IT for the corporate office I work at (don't be impressed, I'm the office Alphageek and won the title by default.) and when corporate supplied the phones they maintained tight rein over the units. Now we are "bring your own device". As such if your phone is critical for your job and you bork it I would expect corporate to tell you to fix the problem ASAP even if it means buying another phone.

That must have you hopping all over the place like a rabbit trying to fix everyone's issues. But I was speaking more about Verizon's consumer base relying upon their phones in general.

My bad, I see your point now. For an official update this one has created a world of grief for many that installed it via the "official" route. Usually a factory reset is a last resort to many and apparently for this update it looks like a required step.
[EDIT] Just checked the official Verizon forums. People are struggling with the same problems that are being posted here. It looks like a couple have figured out a factory reset works and are trying to spread the word, there is very little Verizon help showing up.

A few years ago it did back when we were running a mix of name brand systems (Dell, Gateway and HP). I would say it occupied 30-50% of my time, since then we have standardized on Dells running Windows 7. That is a bulletproof combination in an office environment. I know everyone bad mouths Dells but since we with Dell/Win 7 my workload has dropped 90%.

I think the textra app also works if you would want to try that before resetting.

Thanks, but already did the FDR, wasn't to bad, just time consuming. FDR does fix the problem though.

Do you realize that the text issue is completely unrelated to any "modification". This phone was "borked" by a VZ-pushed OTA. I had to do a factory reset last night, lost my corporate e-mail set up through Touchdown. I also missed communications previously, while I was unaware of the texting issue. Those texts are just "gone" now. This is very poor form on the part of VZ, not even checking that texting will continue to work after users upgrade.

I wasn't implying you goofed up your phone, just following up on AddictedtoGlass's comments, sorry if it came across that I was.
Yeah, this update does seem to be causing more grief than usual. That may be keeping with the comments I stumbled across in Verizon's forums claiming that the code sent to Verizon by Sony wasn't "up to snuff" in Verizon's opinion and that is why Verizon sit on the update so long. Looks like they should have sit on it a little bit longer. I'm on 5.0.2 and my phone is pretty stable so I'm content to stay there until this is all straightened out, if ever.
I have been trying to find more info on Verizon's community forums but they have managed to make their forums so hard to navigate now that finding particular threads is almost impossible. I guess that is one way of controlling the flood of complaints.
