Any news on when Orange UK will release a ROM update for the M3100? - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam Software Upgradin

I have an Orange M3100 that is unlocked and I do not live in the UK. Does anyone know when Orange plans on releasing a ROM update?
Thanks

do you have an issue with your current rom?

Issues with live Orange M3100 ROM
No, i do not. As I am not in the UK, I run my TyTn without any ExtRom from Orange and it runs great. I had a Wizard before this and was running 2.26 which had a better radio ROM and Connection Manager. I would like to get both of those back on the Tytn.

As far as I know, there are planning to ship new roms in january 2007

I’m ready to through the damn thing out the window. Can anyone help?

cingular 3125 ROM on Qtek 8500?

Has anyone been able to get the cingular ROM off the device and installed on a Qtek? Is anyone working on it?
I haven't heard of anyone trying this yet, but imagine they will in time. To be honest with you, I am using the IMAte Rom on my QTEk on the Cingular Network and have no desire to change it. Unless someone could show me there is a benefit in switching, I am happy were I am.
On a related note, the delay may have something to do with the size of the ROM. I have heard speculation that due to the 3125's 128MB memory size, versus the 64MB size of the QTEK, that the actual ROM itself may not fit. But again, that is only speculation, and others have stated that the extra memory has nothing to do with the ROM.
It is available at
http://www.america.htc.com/support/cingular_3125_downloads.html
I installed it on my Qtek 8500, all is working fine.

I uploaded the file to ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/StarTrek/
What is the diference between 3125 and 3100 models?
Thanks.
RE: cingular 3125 ROM on Qtek 8500
For those that have done it,: above comments aside, I am curious as to the thoughts. Are you updating your Qtek from the Qtek ROM, or other.
I have yet to read anything that shows the differences between the IMate and Cingular ROMS and what, if any changes were made, other than custom features and proprietary logos.
Does the Cingular come with any apps that are more desireable than another?
may I ask how do you upgrade a QTEK isn't there some special upgrade utility. or is it just running the executable. and it does not matter what manufacturer device you have?
Cingular told me the machine would use blue towers better running its ROM. No idea if that is true.
Data setups work w/o manual entry, obviously not a big deal.
Some Cingular junk included.
Clearvue loaded in flash (same as i-Mate) - not with QTEK
A bit more free memory.
Other than that I see little difference between CIngular and the i-Mate ROM I was running. QREK ROM definately had problems with Cingular - missed lots of calls. This also occurs on my wife's Smartflip and she uses T-Mobile.
"Blue Towers" ?

About the QTEK ROM missing calls, is supposed to be a common issue. I had it too, but then I turned on the BT and left it on the problem with missing calls was gone.
Blue towers are the old AT&T towers...
Cingular ROM on QTEK 8500
I flashed the Cingular ROM on my QTEK 8500.
Very happy with it.
I have the (subjective) feeling, that it runs better than with the 8500 ROM
Cheers

The 3125 has the camera, the 3100 does not. Everything else is exactly the same.

Of course the device has to be CID-unlocked, i.e. totally unlocked (cert, etc.)
After that, no problem switching between ROM's (I also tried Dopod and i-mate)
But found cingular best up to now
Cheers

At the moment full Sim and CID unlocking can only be done online, no free ways yet, though I`m sure its being worked on.
Got my 8500 unlocked within 20mins of getting the unit, currently running the I-mate rom and am more than happy with it.
http://www.imei-check.co.uk/f600unlock.php £20 not really that bad.
Now we some tools to cook our own roms !
Does Cingular 3125 ROM "Re-Lock" Qtek 8500?
I've unlocked my 8500 and installed i-Mate ROM - all seems to be working well (no missed calls). If I wanted to install the Cingular 3125 ROM, would it "re-lock" the device?

SB X01HT on Cingular?

Hello all, I have just a quick question. I have a SB X01HT that I bought off of Ebay and at this moment I have my Tmobile Sim card in it. I have had pdas in the past, but not with a phone mixed in. Now starting in January I am switching to Cingular for the 3G services. Should I flash the unit with their Rom or just leave the one that’s in it now. The rom ver is 1.23 / radio 1.13 and the spl is 1.04. I guess the phone is unlocked seeing that I am using a T-mobile Sim card. After reading this site for sometime I am not sure of the benefits to flashing to Cingular’s rom. Just wanted to see what others would do. Thanks…

Where you at? Was it cheap?
Anyway, i dont think you HAVE to change it. But some roms have more or less
functions and some are a little better in performance.
I am in the US. As for price I paid 569.00 for the phone and 30 for shipping. I see that The guy I bought it with now sells them at 549.00

T-Mo releasing WM6 upgrade for the Dash - a hopeful sign for Ameo users

http://www.engadget.com/2007/04/29/windows-mobile-6-update-for-t-mobile-dash-leaked/
Hopefully T-Mobile will also have a WM6 upgrade for the Ameo at some point in the future.
Well... HTC is releasing WM6 for the Advantage, so I'm guessing it's comming...
Update WM6 for Ameo
T-Mobile Germany unofficially said that they were working on an WM6 version for the Ameo. So wait a bit and we will see.

Where was this from? Was this a conversation with customer services, or something a bit more substantial?
Cheers
Well this is the response I got from T-Mobile UK yesterday so im not holding my breath.
Hello,
Thank you for your email about windows mobile 6.
At present we have no plans to offer an upgrade to WM6 on any of our MDA phone. This is something we are looking onto however so this may change in the future.
I'm sorry I did not have better news for you on this occasion, if you have any further queries please don't hesitate to contact us again.
Kind regards
RossT-Mobile
That is just about MDA devices, Ameo is new device
I'd be surprised if they did release an OS upgrade... T-Mobile don't tend to do something if there's nothing in it for them, like most big businesses....
The phone is designed for their point of view for the top exec for company phones, most companies of which wouldn't care what it's got on it as long as it does the job for their employee at the cheapest contract price.
:-(

I know it's not in the title, but I'm pretty sure T-Mobile classify the Ameo within the MDA range, their WM.PPC wing
WM6 update
It was a conversation with the competence center of multimedia and technology from T-Mobile in Germany, I think it was Berlin. They assured that development of the WM6 update of the Ameo was on schedule, it would take at least another 4 weeks until it was complete. It was said that only the MDA Compact III (Artimis) and Ameo (Athena) would get a WM6 update. As I said its nothing official. We also now the Dash got an update, perhaps more devices will get one.

X7501 has WM6?
http://www.htc.com/product/03-product_x7501.htm
Is the X7501 actually available? Would the ROM work on an X7500 or, more importantly an Ameo....
I am getting my Ameo soon and not looking forward to going back to WM5....

i don't think the x7501 ROM will work on X7500 or Ameo, x7501 don't have the video call function. If you want wm6 on your Athena, you can install DOPOD's ROM

I diddn't think any WM6 ROMs had video (mu Universal one doesn't) and I didn't know there was a Dopod WM6 for the Athena! Do you ahve a link? I'm getting an ameo soon, can it be installed on that?
Thanks.

the reason why your WM6 Universal don't have video call function is because the ROM is not official, the official ROM will have the video function. And yes DOPOD will have WM6 for DOPOD U1000, but is not out yet, it will be available next month but at this moment you can't flash it, you need a CID unlock tool first.

Vodafone Rom upgrade.

Does anyone know if they're going to release an official Vodafone ROM upgrade? I've contacted Vodafone and they sent me a text with a link for the orange ROM upgrade??? I was also told around mid-October that it would be released in a week??
are you sure they didnt send you to THIS page for all downloads, , , on which currently the top entry is the orange 3.14 rom? (and is also the page that any carrier 3.14 roms will appear)

Yes samsamuel, it was. I would have preferred it if they'd just said keep and eye on the hTc website, as that's what I've been doing for about 2 months anywez! Thanks for the reply m8. They sent me the following email:
Hello Paul,
Just to let you know that prior to releasing or approving any software update for our Vodafone customers who have bought a handset through Vodafone, we test it thoroughly to ensure it provides customers the best possible experience on our network.
Our testing process begins as soon as we receive the software, which often happens once the manufacturer has already released the open market version of the software.
During the review process, we report any issues with the software back to the manufacturer for them to address. Once the firmware is approved by Vodafone, we return it to the manufacturer and they will then distribute the software to customers through the appropriate channels.
We undertake this process with every device that we sell to customers, regardless of whether or not the handset contains Vodafone branded software.
If you have purchased the device from another company (Phones 4U, Carphone Warehouse etc) it is possible that the device may not be on the Vodafone version of software. In this case the manufacturer would be in control of releasing any future updates.
I trust the above information helps.
Kind regards,
Pravin Raut

Vodafone is so bloody annoying. I remeber it was released first on vodafone rather than orange, so how come orange got update before them. They had released ROM for HD mini, HD2 might be on the way....... no good vodafone !

they said "fall"
Autumn?
Hi manishabanzadeh
I don't think Orange UK would have said "Fall", Autumn maybe but not fall.
In reality, Orange UK are quite often one of the slower operators to push any sort of software update, and I can remember as far back as the Nokia 6310i
Cheers
andrew-in-woking
I have to agree with andrew-in-woking, Orange UK were one of the very last to roll out Nodo, though Microsoft have been putting pressure on operators to release Mango very soon. The problem with Orange is that within the company everything is a 'need-to-know' basis. Most of the workers at Orange didn't even know that Nodo had been released until after the rollout. I've asked customer service and in store and either they have no idea what Mango is or they just can't get an answer from above on the release date. It's quite disappointing really, makes O2 start to shine a little more. Oh well, at least we got wp7 first
Orange UK being helpful... not:
@mattgarner Hi. I'm sorry but we don't have a release date at this time. As soon as we have an update, we'll let you know ^Jon

The update doesn't come from orange - it comes directly from microsoft
U can use the nodo forced update trick to force the update through - I've been running Mango since yesterday on my Orange branded HTC Mozart
