TomTom Navigator 6? - HTC Startrek

Does anyone have any idea if TomTom Navigator 6 will be compatible with this device?
I know it's out in Europe but we still can't order it over here in the US (at least, not legitimately).
Edit: I just realized I posted this in the wrong forum, if a moderator could move it to the primary StarTrek forum I would really appreciate it.

It doesn't work at the moment. Strangely it's billed as the solution for both pocket pc and smartphone but the smartphone funcionality is not quite there yet - they're working on it apparantly.

Tom Tom navigator speech function

Hello xda developers,
Last week my Compaq Aero died (i know; wrong forum, but bear with me) and I started looking around for what's available on the market that suits my needs. My g/f owns an Ipaq (with Tom Tom navigator) and that seems pretty cool but on the other hand I have a phone as well and I hate carrying around all these gadgets. So I summed up some of my requirements:
phone
agenda (synchronised with outlook on PC)
contacts (also sync-ed)
gps navigator capable
and of course: nifty looking, cheap, etc etc.
While surfing I ran into the XDA which seems to do all that but I can't find documentation about Tom Tom navigator. What I would really like is the speech feature that the Ipaq has. I know Tom Tom can, but can the XDA do that as well?
Thanks,
Climber
it seems to have MP3 support so.....
hmm, after reading the specs again I see on the o2 site it has MP3 capabilities, which gives me a better feeling about speech support but any feedback will be greatly appreciated. Own experience is even better!
thanks again,
Climber

Hello Climber.
What have you meant with speech feature?
Have you menat, that the Tomtom tells you where to drive or something else.
The XDA does support this feature.
Regards
Stefan
XDA supports most applications that iPAQ does. The ONLY limitation I've reached is in the application buttons (on iPAQ there are 4)
Thanks to all
Stefan, Zviratko,
Indeed I was referring to the function where Tom Tom tells me where to go. My g/f calls it the electronic female (always telling what to do) but she is a sexist anyway ;-)
So Stefan has answered my question and Zviratko has taken away the last doubts.......
I ordered one today and hopefully it arrives next week.
I can't wait. Thanks again,
Robert

Using a Raphael/Touch Pro in Japan?

*Sorry, posted in the wrong forum. Moving to Raphael General. Mods, please delete this post!*
Hey all,
This is my first post here; just found the website. I've been looking for something like this!
Anyway, the reason for my post is that my current freebie cellphone dropped from a high perch last night and shattered into a hundred pieces, finally giving me an excuse to pull the trigger on something nicer. I really like Docomo's Touch Pro, but I'm hoping somebody here might answer two questions about it before I drop 50,000 yen.
1.) The menus are all in Japanese and I've been told they cannot be changed to English. My Japanese is decent but I'm sure for such a sophisticated piece of tech, I'd like everything to be in English to take advantage of fine tuning, etc. Would there be a way to reformat the phone to put an English version of Windows Mobile on there, and if I did, could I still input Japanese characters?
2.) I'm going to be in Japan for at least another year and a half or so, but past that there's a chance I might have to go back to the US for work. If I did, what are the odds that the Touch Pro would work on a carrier like AT&T or Verizon? Are the 3G frequencies too different?
Thanks to anyone who replies

Question about Co-pilot & Satnav

Hi,
I've had my Hero for about a month, and I'm fairly happy with it. One of my main reasons for upgrading to this phone, apart from escaping from Microsoft, was the GPS and satellite navigation possibilities. I've read all sorts of conflicting reports about Co-pilot, which, from my research, seems to be the only application that has maps, etc., for the UK.
I'd be interested to hear from anyone who is using, or has used, any satnav software on the Hero because I want to get satnav working, but I can't afford to make any mistakes.
I'm only really interested in software that refers to satellites, not local cells, i.e., proper satnav.
Thanks in advance.
Copilot on Android is very capable. It's certainly on a par with my dedicated Garmin Nuvi 200W. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.
Regards,
Dave
Market also allows you to get a full refund within a 24hr period, so you can buy and then cancel if you don't like it.
Very pleased so far, having used tomtom on winmo for years I think I prefer it.
Its top dog, there are others like NDrive but copilot is the top. and its just been released on the iphone at the same price to snub tom tom in the face. LOL
Yes, I am very happy with Co-Pilot. Does an excellent job! I did lose the GPS signal once for about a minute, but I don't think that was the applications fault.
After some bad routing experiences with CoPilot 7 for WinMo I have shunned it so far on Android (and the new v8 for WinMo). I have used Sygic Mobile Maps (previously known as McGuider too) for the past 2 years on WinMo and thankfully Sygic will be releasing an Android version very soon in the UK. I am hoping for more news on the release date next week. They have already released it in Singapore as an exclusive install on SingTel, StarHub and M1 HTC Magic phones.
I'm interested I'm co-pilot too, but would like assurance that it works in off-the-beaten track areas as well as the places you'd expect. My fear is based on the normal GPS recently telling me I was on the Iles of Scilly when in fact I was just outside Exeter! I may download it when I have a decent trek to test it on, and call on the 24hr redundant if necessary.

I've purchased it and happy with it so far.
Anyone waiting something that won't ever take you 'the wrong way', will be waiting a long time...
I've had TomTom, Garmin take me some really weard routes/wrong destinations on more than one occasion. So I expect Co-Pilot will do the same sooner or later...
One thing I liked about Garmin was that it had a google search feature built in. No such thing on Co-Pilot. You have to do it seperately and feed in th. result.
Having said that, google search was really bad at getting you to the address. Several times, it would oten display the correct address data but would take you too a different location (somewhere within a few miles of the destination).
Taking the details it presented and entering them into the address section would take you to the right place.

Its great - works really well. No live traffic updates yet but tech support say it should be here soon.
The lane direction support and busy junctions is fantastic

i guess there s a big missunderstanding here it s not about money
i mean what i read about hd2 and igo8 says that it shuld be already inside the phone
but when i didnt find it i was wondering about the way to get it i thought it could be avaliable here
thanx guys and sorrry for my bad english
for me there was Copilot installed before and it's only a trial version, you have to buy it or search on other sites
well it was copilot (the trail version) in my phone too so which one is better?copilot or iGo 8>?
Tomtom > iGO8 > CoPilot
YMMV

[Q] Mozart and tomtom

Hi folks!
Anyone added tomtom navigator yet at all? If so, is it much of a nutache to do what with there not being an external storage card?
If possible, could someone kindly add a handy step-by-step for those (such as myself!) not used to such a thing?
Many thanks in advance if you can assist, TSS

you cant install cabs on the mozat, all the window usefullness (did i just say that!!!) of the 6.5 has been taken out and it has been made like iphones and android so from what i can see you can only use stuff from market place at the mo. I so hope im wrong and have missed something but its not looking like anything will be compatible from our beloved hd2s etc.

i cant believe orange did that! i recently upgraded and went with the mozart having being told it came with satnav only to find out after that it didnt work and that i'd have to pay £5 for the priv when it did...after a quick call and the threat of cancelling my upgrade i now will have it for free (when it works!) but still have to pay £2 a month for the pro version (speed cams and live traffic info).
Though i think i'd still buy tomtom when its released...think there working on it at the mo.

Im gonna have to have stearn words with orange as they sold me the satnav but only refunded me the money for the month they charged me for. i cant beleive they were selling it in the knowledge it didnt work on wp7. im just hoping the devs get there heads round this os and start cooking so we can see what these things can do!! and on the satnav note again im hoping igo comes our way as it makes tomtom look like a 1940s map of the isle of whight, its something that makes me think of going back to my hd2.
