2 new Jasjam ROMS, what the difference? - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam Software Upgradin

Hi
Imate has 2 update roms 1.20 WWE and 1.31 WWE Telstra.
can anyone tell me whats the difference between both, as iam thinking of flashing my device with either.
thanks

One is the english rom for all i-mate owners and the Telstra one is for Telstra Australia, it has all the Telstra setting and programs for their network, that is the rom I have as I bought my Jasjam from a Telstra shop. As for persific differences I am not sure as I don't have the other one to compare.

Your best to flash with the one that doesnt have bootloader 1.07 as I did this now im stuck and cant change my ROM .... there is nothing wrong with the Telstra ROM I am in the UK and its working fine with no issues ..... quite quick also ... its up to you but just remember once you have a 1.07 bootloader you cant change !until the other manufacturers put out ROM's with bootloader 1.07 as your device is CID locked

Tanks a lot guys, guess ill stick with the 1.20 WWE for now as i'll get many options
thanks again

br
john
I am searching also, but TMObile had not released a official ROM yet...
I want to go to the original ROM the cingular 1.34 just isn't stable enough with BT issues and freezing issues!

i-mate jasjam cid unlocked??

ive got a friend with an imate jasjam and i was just wondering if it came cid unlocked...
if so, how would the cingular rom run on it considering it doesnt have video call function...
please let me know
any recommendations for best rom??
Hi,
maybe its SIM unlocked, but it wont be CID unlocked unless you have patched it. if so, then you can instal any rom etc, but first read the wiki to familiarise yourself.
if you have a jasjam in australia (telstra rom), you will first have to downgrade your bootloader to 1.04. you can do this flashing the WWE shipped rom (see the wiki). Once you have boot loader 1.04 then you can CID unlock.
caution: it may invalidate your warranty to CID unlock your pda-phone.
what about a recommendation for the best rom? i just got my JasJam about an hour ago
not sure about that, there are mixed feelings.
I personally use the WWE JASJAM Rom, (originally had the telstra ROM) and I find that it is stable and works well.
I am not ready to make it super CID to explore other ROMS at the moment as 1) I cannot afford to invalidate my warranty (currently on my 2nd device) and 2) too busy with work and now holiday season to spend time playing with it.
I played around with it alot when I first got it but now I require my device to be transparent in what I do, hence, just use the damn thing.. I think the novelty is wearing off and now I am using it for what it is.
However, I will upgrade the ROM when AKU3.2 comes out, hopefully sometime soon.

Going back to WM5

Hi Chaps,
I had a UK Orange SPV M3100 which I SIM unlocked and also upgraded to WM6 Black Satin... this was a great phone and worked very well for me. I now have a Kaiser and gave my upgraded M3100 to my brother. However, his IT department at work won't allow him to put the latest version of Activesync on his PC (God knows why, but there you go...). WM6 requires this updated version of Activesync.
So, my question is this:
What is the best WM5 ROM out there?
I assume as I have CID and SIM unlocked the phone, these will not need to be done again. Also, am I right in thinking that he may be limited to a 2GB micro SD card with WM5?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Can any one help with this?

i downgraded my ATT 8525 back to WM5 after realizing WM6 was just too sluggish on the phone. So i just went back to the original shipped version of att/cingular wm5 listed on xda-dev wiki here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Upgrades
you can find your orange wm5 rom there, just look for the latest version...hope that helps
Thanks for the reply... I am wondering if the Official Orange ROM (linked to on the page you referenced) will install OK, given that I have Hard SPL on my M3100? Will I need a specially re-wrapped version of the Orange ROM to install correctly on my SPV M3100?
Any feedback greatly appreciated!

Qtek rom on a mda vario branded device.

I have a unlocked g4 MDa vario, with the standard uk tmobile rom on it .
to make things easier I would like to put the Qtek (uk vodafone) rom on the device.
now I have tried extacting the rom and using softspl but I get either file write errors or invalid carrier so can not flash it.
Can anyone help as I like WM6.1 rom which im running at the moment, but my device just runs really slow but doesnt on the wm5 rom but would love the qtek uk vodafone rom on it as they are my carrier.
Cheers and apologies if this has been asked before (i did do a search but didnt come up trumps)

Flashing different operator ROM

Hi Guys, looking for a little advice.
I have a Neon which is flashed with a Telstra ROM. I have downloaded another ROM which is geared for Optus but when I try and flash it tells me that there is an Invalid Device ID. I guess this is because it recognises that the ROM is for another provider ???
Any suggestions.... I just want to get rid of all the Telstra branding and other crap that installs.
Cheers
Well, first of all, Tell us some more.
Like;
Have you already sim/cid unlocked the phone?
Have you done the hardSPL which you can find as an sticky.
Try flashing after that, and let us know,
//Dani
.... double post.. sorry
THanks for the reply. I have installed HardSPL for the Neon.. I was not sure if it had gone on properly... so I installed Seths cooked rom and it went on with no worries so I assume that hardSPL went on OK. I liked Seths but there were a few bugs so I tried to put the Optus ROM on that I got from HTC Asia. This is were it gives me an Invalid Operator message. It will allow me flash the Telstra ROM back to the phone with no worries. The handset itself is a branded Telstra set. It is no big problem as I will probably go back to Seths cooked ROM after the bugs are ironed out.
As far as the sim / cid unlocking goes.. i am not sure on this.. will have to search the forum to find out more.
Again thanks for taking the time to respond... really appreciated.
The Optus and Telstra Touch Duals are two different devices, the telstra one is a 20 key neon 200 and the optus is a 16 key nike, the optus rom wont work on the telstra neon 200.
That makes sense... thanks for the info.
