Cingular Shipped ROM? - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam Software Upgradin

Now that cingular released a ship date of Nov 16 for the 8525 I would really like to get my hand on the final shipping ROM. Does anyone know when this would be available? I guess PTT will not be working in the initial release.

I would like to see a copy of this rom too. We can only hope that austin_boy decides to help us out here...

Im with you guys
Yup,
I would like to see the shipping ROM myself... I want to see if there are any enhancments over the 1.34 ROM

I'll have one on the 16th but I realize I can't dump a flashable ROM from it. I can, however, provide the Extended Rom contents until a flashable ROM is available.

Where's da man "austin_boy"?

I would at least like to have the radio settings so I can use them on my HTC branded device.

I couldn't wait for the 8525 and preferred the style of the TyTN so I went that route... will be here Thursday. This will be my first PPC phone, having had several SP devices and Treos.
If I understand this correctly, the extended ROM houses all of the carrier-specific settings, branding, applications, etc? If so then I can just pick and choose what Cingular-specific stuff I want on my TyTN? If that's the case, sounds easy enough. I'd love to have the production 8525 extended ROM as soon as some one can post it!
I'd also like to know what versions Cingular ended up at... radio, boot loader, ROM and all that. I'm wondering how the TyTN radio will perform here in Seattle compared to the 8525. Does anyone know if Cingular tweaked the 8525's radio ROM to their network?

TyTn vs 8525 ROM's
what would be the pro's and con's.

What is the current status?

I need a ROM Upgrade, but I really donĀ“t know which version, or download I should stick to. This forum are filled with different versions and so on. Can someone please adwise me, in which version of ROM-and Radio I should download, and where to download it?
in the 1.60.* rom upgrades the os rom and radio rom are all identical. they only differ in the contents of the extended rom. I think softworkz is working on a page that lists the differences.
I think there are 3 main varieties of the extended rom: O2, t-mobile, qtek.
Thanks to Itsme for the info.
Two weeks ago I read in the forum that a new ROM has been announced to be released in February, supposedly to fix mainly the BT limited profiles support. The issue has gone without further mentions.....
In the meantime, looking for some support, Iv'e found Expansys has discontinued the Qtek 2020, although the i-mate and O2 are still announced. Does it have any meaning with the Qtek support? (Obviously the worst supported one of all XDAII brands)
Iv'e gone through a recent experience: Sony Ericsson launched the P900 just 3 months after I got my P800: no support, no upgrades, nothing.... I've passed finally this one to my wife.
Could it happen to the XDAII?
:?
Highly unlikely that O2 will do that, Looking Glass. O2 is not going to bring a new version to the market for quite some time - and they just release an upgrade to WM2003 for the old device XDA I.

Palermo, very simple question: WHY? Just because many people talk about using ROMs in languages and for devices that are not identical with yours doesn't meant that you have to do the same thing. I'm so tempted myself but I'd rather wait to get something that is meant for my device.

AT&T 8525 Upgrade

I just received my 8525 from ATT and its running the orginal software. I went to the HTC web site to down load the new version but the down load doesn't work or its to slow. Does anyone has this upgraded.
Thanks

What I wanna know is why someone even WANTS the HTC upgrade.. lol.. why not go WM6.
As mentioned above, U'll be much better off with one of our great chef's cooked ROM's!
I agree with the others....you can learn alot by reading, not posting. Read through some of the threads regarding the OS's, including the HTC official release, and perhaps go to the WIKI here and read some more about all the different options available to 8525 users regarding OS's.
You can also use the links under my sig for more resources.
Enjoy!
@wynngo, forget about the HTC WM5 upgrades.. just go straight to WM6. Since your on AT&T, I suggest vp3g's cooked ROM. It's one of the best AT&T bred roms available.

I agree with Cirial; I've played with many of the new WM6 ROMs and have found VP3G's to be very stable, fast and so far the best of the lot on my Cing 8525 w/AT&T. I like it so much I put it on BOTH of the 8525's!!

Leaked Sprint ROM + WM 6.1: Can it be done?

Guys, we currently have the leaked Sprint ROM, and now there's word out of China that WM 6.1 Pro has been leaked.
Can dcd or someone else take the 2 and combine them into 1 single ROM? Call it the "Leaky ROM(in a good way)".

note how hard it would be to port the 6.1 rom over, and plus its still just a beta. beta + beta doesnt run well

Well, extract what .cabs you can(Threaded SMS, potential upgraded PIE, new Live Search, etc) and use those "pieces" to build a ROM with more soild footing then.
this is the only post i will make on this until a release
6.1 can be ported to titan. It has the same structure as 6.0. I've run a really old crappy build myself. The version you are all seeing floating around right now is a 30 day timebomb. Eventually, a non-beta WWE build will be released. After that, eventually it will make it to our device. But... you're going to be waiting longer than you think.
My GUESS is this summer. And from what I've seen so far, I'm not in the big hurry everyone else is.
If you see a WWE ROM with WM6.1, I would think its reasonable to bring it up here. It can be ported and I'll help. But I kind of want to put a stop to the 6.1 talk until then. I will not even attempt to convert the chinese release to WWE. Even if I did, it would mean replacing the language files with old old old WWE versions, and I have not even seen a WWE build containing some of the SYS packages of the chinese build. And some of those packages I hear are required for operation.
Just my 2 cents I guess.
Edit: also, its not made up of cabs. pulling out certain components could be realistic, but I have never been a fan of 'hybrid' builds and wont waste my time with a partial-6.1.
That 2nd link shows 5.2.1238 as the primary version number, that's an old AKU 0.2.3 that's been modified. Either it's a hybrid of old and new (which is silly) or it's just a hex-edited fake (more likely).
The leaked Sprint ROM currently has the latest real release, 5.2.1622 Build 18128.0.4.4.
Even the popular 5.2.19xx versions are betas or fakes, they don't follow the version/build/AKU numbering scheme of real releases.

I think the build youre referring to is actually a hybrid.
The current WM6.1 builds show something like "5.2.19150 Build 19150.1.0.0" - the CE OS is bunk and temporary
The newest WM6 is 5.2.1623 Build 18129.0.4.5
I agree on aku 0.7 ive always been skeptical.

I didn't know that, guess I'm a little behind! Where can I find it? Is it a ROM used on a shipping device?
Yeah, AKU 0.7 is definitely fake or beta. As far back as CE 3.x, Microsoft has never had multiple versions of the same AKU. Every AKU has its very own specific build AND version number. That can be confirmed on every existing production CE device so I've never understood why everyone has been so excited about AKU 0.7 for the past 6 months or so.
btw dcd, who's right?

it is possible in some places to rip apart a rom and make cabs of certain items, but they will be broken in ways, just like the palm threaded app, its broken on any phone that it didnt get shipped with.

Question regarding ROMs for this device

Hello everyone,
I'm a senior member over in the Herald forum, I have a T-mobile Wing, aka HTC Atlas / Herald... but I have a friend who is switching to Verizon and he really liked my Atlas, and wanted to get a PPC... so I was helping him with his purchase.
My main question is, who are the cooks and what are the best roms available for this PPC? I know this is kind of a vague question, because we have n00bs asking it all the time in the Herald forum, but I'm looking for a couple of opinions and a little help getting pointed in the right direction.
Basically so far I've found :
dcd's titan ROMs & kitchen 3.0.1
key's v1.2.5 cleaned 3.35 kitchen
Are those the 2 Rom's available for this device?
He is in the medical field ... so I'd like to set him up with the most stable, fastest rom available, since he needs his phone to be reliable. What 6.1 Rom are available and what do you guys think would be his best bet?
Basically, the moment my friend purchases this phone, he is going to come over and I'm going to flash it and install any other software he needs on there... so I was trying to get some input prior to.
Thanks in advance
Nexvision cooks up a mean ROM for sure...you gotta like bells and whistles, but they are among my favs...

For stability's sake, I'd suggest sticking to a WM 6 ROM as nothing is yet official and released in WM 6.1 for the Titan.
DCD's 1.7.x is solid and tweaked based upon the pre-GPS enabled WM 6 ROMs, PPCGeeks has some cleaned releases based upon last week's Sprint release (WM 6), and you've found my kitchen that is also just a cleaning (initiated by a1jatt) of last week's Sprint release, without any built-in tweaks to the base ROM, and only options to change and add to the ROM as one chooses. My latest version (1.2.5.1) appears to be running fine with no current unresolved stability complaints against it in the thread.

Can I flash my At&t FUZE into HTC official firmware?

I have searched the forum, but I found some people saying I can do that. Some said the FUZE has different hardware and cannot be flashed into HTC official firmware. Which is the correct answer?
If I really can, what else should I beware of? Any thing will not work after the flash?
Thanks.
Yes you can...
For starters your keyboard mapping will be wrong, but that is easily fixed by any number of CABs you can find in the forum. You also won't have any of the AT&T special apps.
I guess the real question is "why"?
If you're going to go through the effort of flashing, it makes much more sense to flash in one of the cooked ROMs that offer more features.

I agree with Rob - Why would you want to? Unless say you are modding it to include the front facing camera and want the rom to be able to take advantage of that. Other wise you will have to jump through hoops just to get it to work.

Because the original HTC rom is thoroughly tested and, HTC did make it since they made the hardware i believe they know the best software for it as well.
No offense to the cooks and all but I have not come across a faster, smoother, bug-free rom than the "Asia Build 20764" released on march 16th.
Even though I like the cool look aof the custom roms thereis no competing with the performance of the original HTC roms.
I agree with Stalix. I personally just prefer the official HTC firmware. Apparently, HTC know their hardware and have working with their software in this field for long, they should have a more stable firmware. And I personally hate to see at&t logos in my phone.(does FUZE have those logos?)
Same idea when I install my PC, I would install Microsoft official version not those modded version. They may have bug or viruses due to their experience of modding.
So on the forum what kid of key word means it's official HTC firmware? I have seen hundreds of firmware here.

They also do not turn on certain features. Take a look at all the power management features you can turn on with Advance Config. They skip out on a lot stuff so then they do not have to support it. If you have more things to support then you need a bigger support staff which is more money out the door for them...A ROM (like mine) based on an official release can be much more faster, stable and more enjoyable than a OEM ROM. Look at the TytN II...it can use the YouTube app fine but why do they not include it...

Nothing wrong with checking out (or using) the stock releases...
How can I revert cooked ROMs back to OEM HTC ROM?
thanks
I have done the flash!
Yeah I have done the flash to my fuze and the UK rom is the best way to go. I love the boot screen saying Touch Pro! You will definitely need the keyboard fix as stated earlier. You will need to find a UK serial so you can grab the rom. There is one in the xda archive. Also, get a calculator cab because the stock one is not always the best. They are also on here. When flashing the HTC rom it will take a couple of more minutes than the others. Mine was stuck on 11% for a 2 minutes. But it will complete beautifully. So also It is very stable. Let me know how you like it.

Yea but you have to also realize that all "cooked ROMs" are based off an official build in the first place.
Take a look at the ROMs available now for the KAISER; they are much better and much improved as developers are able to port updated applications to older devices, improving their performance, and functionality.
If HTC Software was so great, developers wouldnt be looking at other 3D drivers from devices such as the Omnia or the ATI 3D drivers, to improve their devices.
EDIT: To answer the original thread makers question, yes you can flash an HTC ROM to your Fuze provided you have HARDSPL'd your device first. The only thing you would need to change is the keyboard mapping which can be done by a .CAB

This. HTC might "know thier hardware" but that's exactly why you take their official ROM and modify it. Then I have my Fuze settings without running keyboard customization, better apps and tools that aren't in the official ROM, and tweaks to make it even faster. Best of both worlds.
i dont deal with cook Roms anymore, I got out of that business since the MDA Wizard.
Since then I have owned the Treo 750, ATT 8525, HTC TYNT II, and now the FUZE (touch Pro) and I have sticked to official release ROMS.
Its a personal choice really. I have had great experiences with Official Roms and I can do all the tweaks and add all the cabs my self.
So sad to see this Fuze forum flooded with so many cook ROMS. Everybody wants to be a Chef these days. I just feel bad for all the new bees coming in here and can't even decide which ROM to use

No worries with flashing Touch PRO HTC roms or cooked roms on the ATT Fuze
I am currently using WM6.5 for the Touch PRO on an unlocked Fuze with a Canadian 3G provider with ZERO problems !

go to the Raphael Wiki page and will link you to the proper page for download
3g settings and link!
First off the rom for official download will be found at the following:
www.htc.com/europe
Then you will need the UK S/N code which is as follows:
HT833K018918
This was in the archive much props to who uploaded it however I will repost it as to the fact it was not easy to find. This will give you the UK rom! I love the video that plays at the beginning! It is great with battery life as well! So then grab your fuze keyboard fix and it is as if it were always a touch pro!!
Cheers and enjoy!

Well it is a ROM DEVELOPMENT forum. Having choices is kinda the point since which ROM to use is personal preference. Personally, since UC works well, I change between them quite a bit.
