Solution: Downgrade from any 1.06 bootloader to 1.04. - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam Software Upgradin

1. Go to Google, search for DownGrade_SPL.rar
2. Connect your tytn to PC and wait until activesync completed.
3. Run M3100v3cUnlock.exe. Once you see checking device.... in DOS box and whilte screen on your tytn, close the program (Dos box) immedaitely.
4. Run ROMUpgradeUt.exe and follow the japanese wizard to complete the boot loader downgrade.
5. Reboot your tytn and then put it into bootloader mode agian, you should see SPL-1.04. Great!
6. Download pof's HTC_Hermes_SIM_Unlock_v2a from
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Hermes/Tools_and_Programs/HTC_Hermes_SIM_Unlock_v2a.zip
7. Flash the patched radio rom 1.16, then Reboot.
8. Copy HERM_Unlock_v2a.exe a small PPC app pof wrote into your TYTN memory.
9. Open File Explorer, run HERM_Unlock_v2a.exe on your TYTN and wait about 1 minute until it shows up a completed message. Reboot again!
10. Download mtty.exe from
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/uploads/mtty.exe
11. Disable ActiveSync, and then run mtty.exe, choose usb connection; Enter. You should see USB> prompt. Type in: info 2 . When you see 00000000 or SuperCID string. You are safe and ready to upgrade to the latest TYTN 1.35 Rom with bootloader 1.09.

Anybody tried this?

These are what I did on my Vodafone V1605 with bl 1.06. Guarantee working. Actually, this's not a new solution. It exists long time ago, but pof remove this file from wiki due to license issue. Some chinese fans downloaded this file before and shared on their forum. I hope pof won't remove this thread since the Downgrade file is from another website.

Great, many thx to you. I'm going to try it on SPL 1.09 now...

I confirm it downgrading SPL 1.09 to 1.04

Does this keep the os in place and change only the boot loader so one would be able to just upgrade the radio?
Will attempt myself.

Yes, it does. I have latest SA HTC firmware with 1.20 radio and SPL 1.04 now.

Confirmed this will allow you to downgrade bootloader only and do a radio only flash.

my device is stuck on bootloader mode and when I connect to Activesync it does not recognize my device.
is it a problem (I can't try now because I'm at work and I don't have the device by my side)?

I works¡¡. I had installed rom 1.35 and i could downgrade bootloader to 1.04, install radio rom 1.16, get supercid and now i can modify extended rom.
Thanks¡¡¡¡¡

If your tytn is stuck on bootloader 1.06 (can't boot into the OS) and don't have a 1.04 ship rom matching its CID in the wiki, you can't downgrade your bl now. Please be patient.

1. What's the current CID on your device?
2. What version of rom and BootLoader did you use before flashing to HTC 1.35 bl1.09?
3. Did you run pof Hermes unlocker and mtty.exe to make your device SuperCID before flashing to HTC 1.35 bl1.09?

Worked on my Cingular 8525. Thanks! I was pretty nervous to be hacking on my new toy, but so far, so good.

Huge problem with my tnt please please please HELP ME!!!!SOS!!!!!!!

I have a huge really really huge problem my phone is dead.
I have a v1605 buyed in england and i'm from italy and yesterday i had problem after an hard reset the audio was not working anymore so i decided to put a new rom to solve the problem.I cheked my bootloader and was 1.04 so i unlocked my pda and i was able to load i-mate rom on my pda but i still having my problems with audio. So i tried with a newer version of imate rom but this time with bootloader 1.06 inside and i started to load on my tytn but unfortunatly during the operation i disconnect accidentaly the usb from the tytn so the computer stop the new rom istallation and now my tytn is dead with booatloder 1.06 without operating system and i can see only the bootloader page and i can't load any roms cause of the bootloader...Please help i'm desperete thinking to trow away from the windows my tytn.
why don't you try to flash i-mate rom with bootloader 1.04 again and downgrade the bootloader? it should take it as you have i-mate bootloader 1.06 on it and the CID should be the same.
with that said, i am not sure what audio problem you had but it sounds like that was not due to the rom as you could not solve it even after successfully flashing the i-mate rom. it could be a hardware problem but i don't know.

Flashing a ROM doesn't mean the CID on your device will be switched or changed to the CID on the ROM, it will stay the same.
If he CID-unlocked with 1.04 before flashing his CID is "SuperCID" and should have no problems to flash any other ROM (no matter bootloader version).
However if he did not CID-Unlock it first the CID on his device is the original CID of a UK v1605: "VODAP001" (and there's no shipped rom available with this CID yet), so he will not be able to flash anything until a rom upgrade with his CID is available.
understand pof. then, would the purched unlocker from imei-check will be able to do the trick and downgrade the bootloader to 1.04 and make it SuperCID?
No, because imei-check unlocker needs wince to transfer the "fake" bootloader to the phone via an activesync connection first, and he's stuck in bootloader mode and can't boot to wince to enable activesync.
He didn't report if 'set 14 0' makes it boot to wince however, i guess he did not read the wiki before posting

His case is similar to me before.
The device was disconnected before a WinCE ROM was finished flashing.
I do believe there will be bootloader 1.06 and no CID,
I can't flash anything at that time and believe send to service is the only way, currently. Sad to tell you this.
My case is the distributor replace the mainboard for me,
and I now flashed a SuperCID for safety.

please READ: to flash an exctracted radio you need bootloader 1.04, your bootloader is 1.09. The radio 1.27 is offered in two different formats: shipped (NBH) file which you will be able to flash and extracted (NBF) file which you will not be able to flash unless you downgrade your bootloader to 1.04.
@pof (hi again LOL!)
From what ive read (see my sig am on 1.09) i cant use these upgraded radio ROMs, but if im not really having any unwanted issues is it even worth trying to downgrade to 1.04??
More to the point (im most probably wrong but...) to downgrade to 1.04 i must flash a different ROM, im happy with the HTC south Africa one?!?

If you are happy with the 1.18 radio, and don't need to access the radio bootloader or AT command interpreter, you can keep 1.09 bootloader without problems. There's no difference in day-to-day use of the Hermes as a PDA/mobile.

That's a way, but as I see in your signature your device is SuperCID, so to downgrade the bootloader you don't actually need to flash a full rom. The steps would be:
1. Flash bootloader 1.01 MFG
2. Flash SPL-1.04 from bootloader using 'lnb' if you don't want to keep the MFG.
You can do this without having to hard reset your device.

Your CID is the part just after "HTCS"
So in your case you get (from info 2) "HTCSQTEK_001ÖUSB" so your hermes is an English HTC branded device, your device is not SuperCID yet.
Check this post to see which it is (im only going by memory)
EDIT: I upgraded to the 1.27.00.00 radio yesterday, aslong as you use the signed released version (the first option on the related thread) you should be ok, dont use the extracted one. You MUST be SuperCID to upgrade the Radio (covering ones ass).
@basilrsa: Your CID is QTEK_001. Your device is CID locked with bootloader 1.09, you won't be able to flash 1.27 radio unless you downgrade your SPL to 1.04 first, either to continue CID locked and be able to flash extracted radio or to CID unlock and be able to flash shipped radio.
Thanks Pof

OOPS - stuck in MFG without superCID

I wanted to create my own splash screen so followed the instructions on the WIKI page. I had OLIs hard-SPL installed and thought that I didn't need to SuperCID first (clever huh?!). I flashed 1.01 MFG and everything was fine.
Tried to issue the "lnb" command and kept getting "command error". Finally realised that if I wasn't superCID (my CID is HTCST-MOB005¼ôàŠHTCE) I wasn't going to get far.
I decided to run Pof's CID unlocker to make me SuperCID thinking it would be okay as it used the 'soft' SPL. Oh Dear. The flash halted at step 0% flashed and now my Hermes won't get beyond the boot screen. I can't flash anything standard as I've got MFG installed and I can't flas a naked nb because I'm not SuperCID.

Read here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=286755
giving more data:
which bootloader version on your device?
1.09
which rom on your device?
1.35.255.2
which RUU are u using?
HTC WWE version
which rom are u trying to flash?
2.11.255.1
Bootloader 1.09 is not compatible with new RUU version inside HTC's 2.11.255.1 ROM.
If you just run the shipped exe file (without unpacking), it will first upgrade your bootloader to 1.11 using the old RUU, then launch the new RUU and flash your rom.
BTW, i suggest you to read the hardSPL thread before attempting to upgrade
Ok, now I noticed that incompatibilty and used HArd SPL to upgrade to 1.11.
that's what it says now in threecolor bootloader.
But still when I try to upgrade it hangs on the bootloader saying HERM200 IPL-1.01 and HERM200 SPL-1.11 and USB in the white area. And in the PC it says OS information detecttion for ever!!
If I reboot it no problem, everything is working.
thanks for you help!!
ok, now that you have HardSPL-1.11 on your device, do this:
1. Use winrar to extract the contents of RUU_Hermes_QTEK_WWE_2.11.255.1_102_6275_1.38.00.10_108_Ship.exe
2. You will see a file named RUU_Inside.exe
3. Use winrar again to extract the contents of RUU_Inside.exe
4. Run the RUU you'll find here, with device in bootloader mode.
Keep in mind that this will overwrite HARD-Spl with the shipped 1.11 bootloader, if you don't want that, read the wiki:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_UpgradeGuide

Thanks to Walshieau, Todd_jg and Olipro for helping me out with this.
This guide will take you through downgrading the Bootloader (SPL) on your Hermes device
This guide assumes you already have flashed ROMs and Other components and you are familiar with the process.
NOTE: By downgrading your SPL version your device is more vulnerable to being permenantly bricked if a flash goes wrong, by following this guide through YOU accept responsibility for any problems faced due to this operation. As with other downgrade guides this is NOT intended as a guide for claiming the warranty of the device having flashed components which are not authorised by the manufacturer or carrier.
The downgrade will take the following steps, since HardSPL does not allow itself to be downgraded directly, nor does SSPL allow versions lower than 1.09 to be flashed.
The first step is to dowgrade to SPLversion 1.10.oli. Firstly download this archive and extract the files to a temporary folder, connect your device up via the USB port and allow it to connect to activesync. Run "RUUWrapper.exe" which will fire up the RUU program:
Select 'Force SSPL' and continue the flashing process as usual.
Allow the flashing process to take place and your device will reboot.
Now check the SPL has been changed by entering bootloader mode, press and hold the side ok and power buttons then insert the stylus into the hole in the bottom of the device. Your SPL version should now read "1.10.oli".
The next step is to download the SPL you wish to finally downgrade to:
SPL 1.04 (includes IPL 1.00)
SPL 1.06 (includes IPL 1.01)
Again extract the contents to a temporary folder and connect your device to activesync via USB. Run "RUUWrapper" in this new folder.
Select the RED OPTION, and TICK THE BOX.
Then flash as normal.
This will flash the final SPL version onto your device.
Verify your SPL version once this has completed by allowing the device to boot into windows Mobile and entering the bootloader as before.

Shouldn't need to access OS. You should be able to do it by putting it in BL mode... THEN plug it into the usb. Then start the updater.
Its 2.30.Olipro I need to downgrade from, and you cant overwrite olipro SPL's without using SSPL by des from inside the OS, I'm trying to find another way

2.3 is similar to 2.1.
As MrVanx's guide points out, the key is to get from 2.1 down to Oli 1.1. That will work. His guide works - guarantee it.

Thanks for the help, but MrVanx's guide uses SSPL by des (launched from inside the OS where I can't get to) to overwrite the 2.10.Olipro to get back to 1.10.Olipro, so that method wont work for me either

Oh interesting. A nuance I hadn't picked up on. So, when using the Force using SSPL" option in the flashing utility, you must be able to access the Phone OS? That surprises me, I thought that the RUU utility would put it on the phone even in BL mode and execute it? Hmm... strange. I guess if it is an exe, it needs the OS to run, though. Sort of makes sense. Sorry about the misdirection.

Hi,
I'm trying to downgrade to the original SPL (I'm trying to get hold of 2.03 but can't seem to find it), so am using 1.06. I've been able to downgrade to Oli1.10 from Oli2.10, but it won't go back to 1.06 from there, after the RUU says successfully completed the SPL is still the same.
Any ideas?
Cheers
downgrade phone for rogers warranty
Hi Guys,
I need to downgrade my phone as well for warranty purposes. Unfortunately Mrvanx's guide is offline at present. Can any one of you give little further detail about what I need to get back to orginal rom/radio/spl and bootloader. Or in shor to be able to send it back for warranty. I do have a new Rogers phone if that can be of any help.
It is from Rogers and currently my boot loader screen says following:
HERM200
IPL-1.04
HERM200
SPL-2.10.Olipro
Under Device Information:
ROM version: FARIA.R-32
ROM date: 11/06/07
Radio version 1.54.07.00
Protocol Version 32.86u.7020.23H
ExtROM version: BIGSTORAGE
My replacement Rogers Phone has following:
HERM200
IPL-1.01
HERM200
SPL-1.11
Under Device Information:
ROM version: 1.34.631.14
ROM date: 04/17/07
Radio version 1.42.00.00
Protocol Version 32.75.7020.18H
Can anyone please tell me if it is even possible to do this downgrade.
Thanks
B.
why dont you just brick the phone if you are worried about them complaining over the boot loader version. If you cant access the phone i doubt they will be able (or even be bothered) to
Could you please let me know what you did? Did you downgrade To the original Rogers Radio and SPL ? Do you by any chance have all the original Rogers files (WM5, SPL, Radio,...)?
I am with Rogers too and just unlocked SIM (not CID) and installed WM6 (official HTC)
I am wondering how I could lock SIM again if I need to return the phone for Rogers warranty? or unlocking SIM does NOT void the Rogers warranty?
Thanks
Downgrade to SPL 1.11
Hi is anyone able to figure out how to downgrade from SPL 2.10 Olipro to SPL 1.11? I have tried Mr Vanx guide but at the end of the process, I get Error 260. Not sure if I am doing anything wrong.
Do I have to downgrade to SPL1.10 Olipro, before I downgrade to SPL 1.11?
Thanks
I am having some issues downgrading back to an original SPL. I've searched throughout the site and have found a lot of conflicting advice, although this thread seems to be the most relevant.
I started out the process with SPL: 2.10.Olipro
I downgraded to 1.10.oli.
This process was successful in that the bootloader screen now says that the SPL version is 1.10.oli.
Now, when I try to flash the OEM version of SPL, the phone asks the following question:
You would like to run jumpspl.exe
If I say yes, the screen goes gray and says load... but I end up with a 260 error.
I have tried turning off the usb connection in the active sync and starting from the bootloader as mentioned here, but that just ends up giving me a 264 error.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Cheers,
~Hat

Thanks to Walshieau, Todd_jg and Olipro for helping me out with this.
This guide will take you through downgrading the Bootloader (SPL) on your Hermes device
<snip>

Okay, Im back to 1.10oli, but how do I know if I need to go back to SPL 1.04 (includes IPL 1.00) or SPL 1.06 (includes IPL 1.01)?
OK people, please tell me you have looked at the updated guide right??

Yes, but the choices are,
1.04
1.06
1.09
1.11
2.03
and I don't know how to tell which one is stock for my phone. I assume I need 1.04 since my bootloader says IPL-1.00 but I'm not sure because I know that used to say IPL-1.04, and since it appears that that can change for some reason, I want to make sure I get this right so I can get this waranteed. Im going to sell it on ebay and get the new HTC Fuze as soon as AT&T releases it.
