Skype for Windows Mobile 2.2 Beta - HTC Startrek

Hi,
Has anyone been able to get Skype to work on the Star Trek? I see two scenarios:
1. Using EDGE over the cellular network
2. Using Internet via ActiveSync Desktop Pass-Through (USB or BT)
Looking at the Skype Dev Zone, there seems to be some issues:

I will give it a try later on today.

Surfing with Notebook using the Hero

Hi,
I am wondering if the Hero, or any kind of android Phone supports some sort of plug and surf function using the mobile Internet connection of the Phone over the USB cable plugged to a Windows PC.
Just like a HSDPA USB-Stick
I know that this is no Problem with my Windows Mobile Smartphone (Blackstone), but what about android?
Yes. Read the manual about HTC Sync.
or read the multiple threads in here about tethering....
short answer without doing it myself is...
you have to plug it in first so that the option is not greyed out
go to setttings - wireless settings - mobile network settings - mobile network sharing
turn it on
names of these menus might not be accurate...
this has been tested on a t-mobile g2 touch and works fine

T Mobile G2 related queries

Hi,
I got hold of my T mobile G2 a week ago and had being using WM 6.1 till now it looked to me promising choice but had following issues, please help me (dont mind paid software as well) :-
1) How to Sync Exchange mails (even if its through USB connection to pc its fine)? have used even "Touch Down" trail version cant get even mail from USB synchronization. Have being successful in syncing using HTC sync only calender and contacts.
Have used WM 6.1 smartphone active syn could do without any issues.
2) Wifi wireless connectivity with eapfast(eapGtc) any software ?
3) Connect to Internet from HTC hero using PC Internet connectivity using USB data cable again was possible in WM 6.1 without issues.
4) Offline maps for google ? though happy with dapdroyd but does not give direction for point a to b only present location somehow limiting the use of maps.
Regards
VK
For offline maps you may also want to take a look at Maverick.
Solutions
1) How to Sync Exchange mails # Much tweak Touch down worked and is a blessing just it dont update all folders within inbox.
2) Wifi wireless connectivity with eapfast(eapGtc) any software # This is already there by deafult and to much of surprise "Enterprise ready" Kudos to android.
3) Connect to Internet from HTC hero using PC Internet connectivity using USB data cable # This is still a problem not sure if anyone got this working
4) Offline maps for google ? # have to stick to dapdroyd for timing as no better alternative till now.

[q] a70 & hd2

Have bought Archos device to use my HD2 as a source of internet, but till now there is no chance to make A70 see HD2 as Wi-Fi router (have tested Galaxy Tab - the same result, device do not see HD2). Tethering via BT is also failed - Archos is paired with HD2 but not connected.
Is there any solutions how to make Archos working through HD2 connection to Internet?
Works for me running froyo on my hd2
Yes, I know that it is possible while running Android, but I wanted to have one device with WP and another one with Android.
Have received info from WiFi Analizer app that HD2 is using Ad Hoc that is not supported by Android yet , so no chance for me. So will try to use BT thethering which is also not simple with Leo.
Is there anybody who succed to make work internet through BT thethering - have paired and once I succed to connect both devices, but even then browser failed to load pages
Make sure you're not trying to connect in the bluetooth setting - once its paired click on the 'tether' tab and assuming the apn details that you entered are correct it should just work
Bluetooth tethering works fine for me. I have Htc Hd2 on wm6.5 just put tmobile in apn settings should work was able to use it the other day to watch nfl on slingplayer. if i recall correctly i just paired it via bluetooth first then i went to the bluetooth tether and checked it on. try that.

Need help tether BB using pdanet (bluetooth)

Has anyone been able to successfully able to tether their bb using pdanet (bluetooth) with the g tab and could please either point me to the right thread or tell me how this can be done.
Thanks
Tethering
I looked for a similar tethering question for some time. Unfortunately there isn't any software to be found that runs on android that points the net connection out to another device (like PDAnet). PDA assumes the Android device is the 3g/4g server not the client.
I was not able to find a workable method for this.
Sorry but thought I would share.
PDA Net
PDA Net now has a beta version of the software for use with tablets. I tried it on my gtab (running Calkulins ROM) and it was able to identify and pair with my Droid via bluetooth, however I couldn't get the tablet to connect to the internet through the connection. Anyone have any success with this?
It takes several tries before I can get it to connect, pairing is no problem. However once it does connect what's odd is that the connection only works thru the stock web browser, it will not work on any other browser nor the market. Strange.
I believe the beta 2 release of pdanet tablet will have the ability to tether with a bb.

[Q] OK, Skype is completely dead on Windows Mobile...

Even after Skype's February 2010 announcement that Skype would no longer support WinMo platform, Peter Parkes (brainless effing moron that he is, IMHO) said Skype just wouldn't be offering any more WM downloads but would continue to allow WinMo customers to connect and use the service. I'm not sure how long that lasted or when it stopped, but recently my brother loaded Skype on his Verizon BB Storm 2 and it works fine so I have been trying to connect my two WinMo phones from here in Thailand so we can converse inexpensively, one HTC 8525 WM 6.0, and lately Toshiba TG01 WM 6.5. Unfortunately both go through the motions, but neither will connect to the Skype server. I've even gone to Skype's support website and learned that other WinMo users are also complaining that they can no longer connect so it seems that Skype is indeed dead on WinMo.
So what's a suitable mobile VOIP alternative that will work on all platforms? Any ideas or comments?
Thanks!
you can try this one, even though not simple as skype.

Hi c4tevo25,
Checked your link and will give it a whirl if I can't find an all-in-one replacement for Skype.
Thanks for the tip!

Greetings fuerteventura,
I'll Google zoiper. Thanks for the tip!
Cheers...
You should really try again. Today I read your post and tried to establish a connection vià Wi-Fi using the WM Skype client. Lo and behold my first try was successful. I was able to make a call and to chat. So I think I can without any doubt say: It works.
Pay attention to the following details: If you tried to connect through your wireless carrier vià UMTS make sure your carrier does not block VOIP. A lot of them do. If you tried to connect using Wi-Fi ensure that your router's firewall does not block the ports Skype uses. You should be able to find out which ports are needed by Skype by visiting their website. If I remember correctly I had to open some ports myself in order to get skype working. And of course make sure you use the latest client. I have attached a .rar archive containing the latest version.
My phone is a Xperia X1 (WM 6.1) and I use the latest Skype client (not the Xperia panel).
Hi!
I've just downloaded the latest attached skype. After installation and checking the wifi router / 3g connection settings I experience the same continuous logging screen with an error message on timeout...
Any suggestions how to use it?
I'm using a gsm touch pro2 (rhodium100) with 6.5 energy rom (one of the latest builds)

Thanks for the info, altae! I've tried every version of Skype I could find for WinMo on 2 different WinMo phones with no luck. Skype works fine via my laptop, it's only WinMo where it won't connect either via my cellular data plan or connected via USB/Active Sync via a different ISP. I will contact my cell phone company tomorrow and confirm they aren't blocking Skype.
Thanks!
