windows2003se o2 rom on ftp server - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

Hi, following the thread above, I am unable to locate the relevent rom on the o2 server, it is not in the upload directory, or the himalaya directory....
Anyone know where i can get hold of it?
thanks

You can take one version that available and then edited for your purpose. Use ER2003Edit, it is the easiest way to edit. I hope it can solve your problem

pretty sure that o2 never released a 2003SE for himalaya

Some interesting things on the T-Mobile 1.60 update software

I tried the T-Mobile 1.60 rom on my O2 xda2.
It works perfectly with my xda2.
However, I found some interest thing on the new rom upgrade process
1. It seems XDA2 (or HTC Himalaya) use one single program for RAIDO / Extended Rom / OS Rom update. It seems Radio upgrade failure may no longer case device failure, because the RADIO upgrade process is same as OS upgrade process, and not required to copy the whole software into the RAM to upgrade.
2. Sinces some of us (and my XDA2) report that the exteneded rom is READ ONLY, but the upgrade program can update the extended rom. That means the Exteneded rom is not REALLY read only, but somewhere locked it. More funny is , it is seems the Main OS rom is not controlling the exteneded rom is locked or not, because after I updated the extended rom, it is still locked.
3. If O2 XDA2 can use T-Mobile MDA2 update, it seems the upgrade software no longer check the header of the device (At lease this version won't). I think we can use it to change device's language. However I don't know how to dump the rom in .nbf format, is that possible to convert the nb1 format to nbf format?
Thanks.
Hi killercheung...
where are you find the 1.60 rom ?
and the radio what version is ?
Can you put it in my ftp pls ?
it's always on
ftp://dgmatic.com
user: xda
pass: xda
port: 21
...like this we can have it all
Thanks in advance
Denis
I asked here for you, hopefully it will be available for everyone soon:

killercheung, thanks for that... I'm still deciding whether to apply the new rom to my UK XDA II.... is the language of the rom netherlands? or can I have it all in english as it is with the normal O2 rom?
Do we lose anything from the o2 rom/extended rom ?
I'm wondering if O2 do bring an upgrade out if we'll be able to still use it if we've tried this t-mobile 1.60 rom.... hmmmmm
hmmm decisions decisions... do you think its much better than the current o2 rom?
Now that I have moved to the 1.60 rom, I must say there's ONE thing I DO miss ....
My O2 BUBBLES ARE GONE FROM MY ASIAN O2.
(I obviously knew this could happen, but thought I'd made a backup of my extended ROM (I DID, but I accidentally tossed it a few days ago) . Who would be so kind as to send me a copy of the O2.cab file from the extended rom, so that I can put the bubbles back into my dialer ...)

Hi Killercheung,
You've missed out something ... the EXE file can be unzipped (using Winrar) ... you will then see the same upgrade.exe files, nbf files (3 of them) ... you can then deleted the ms_.nbf so that only the CORE ROM and RADIO is updated, and keep all O2 EXTENDED_ROM content untouch.
You can also use the same method to upgrade to Chinese ...

Good news about the T-Mobile ROM. I don't know what they have fixed/patched, but my O2 XDA II ROM never bothered to disconnect the GPRS connection after having spent some time online, not after surfing, not after checking e-mail. Mind you the T-moblile ROM doesn't either, except ....... when checking e-mail, which in my eyes is quite important.
So now I can go back to have my XDA check my e-mail once per hour, knowing that it will disconnect automatically.
(And Satria, thanks for sending me my bubbles

Hi,
Just one question. Did any of you that make the update testet with the bluetooth GPS?
If yes, It works? or you still have to install TOWA´s patch?

For NBF, you can use XDAtools to capture the Chinese ROM, I did once with the English ROM and the file size is exactly the same as the one in 1.60 update. So there should have no missing bytes in the saved file.
For the EXTENDED_ROM, no idea how to save in NBF format ..
I have installed the update but TomTom doesnt see the serial ports 4/5.
@axbl
Hi, What do you think about the update? It´s mutch better than before?
You say "TomTom doesnt see the serial ports 4/5."
Have you installd Towa solution?

yikes...... did that happen on the old rom as well or did gprs stay connected on the original rom?
I hate the way gprs disconnects on devices.. it's supposed to be always on, and I'd really prefer if it stayed on during suspend etc so that MSN could stay connected, notifying me when I got a message....
Email checking likewise, I'd prefer gprs remained always connected and it'd check email in the background whether off or on, notifying me when it got a new mail.
I can't check the behaviour of my xda II since Im on "roaming" at the moment in another country so no gprs
but can anyone say for sure which way the old vs new rom work in this regard?
I did some research on the upgrade process, and fileformats:

WIDCOMM Bluetooth stack

hi, I need help here...
I heard alot about people running WIDCOMM Bluetooth stack in their Qtek or XDA II to enable bluetooth profiles not found in the original set..my question is how do you guys get this stack??
million thanks...
Yep, there is a lot about Widcomm here, but im a little confused.
Is it possible to download a ready version ( German?) ??
And a description ro use it ?
thanks
Guys, 1st off upgrading to 1.60 o2 rom provides wm2003 sp2 and this contains a much impoved MS BT Stack, I no longer need the hacked widcomm stack you speak of however, it is this:
BluetoothGPS.zip
from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/vie...=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=widcomm do a find on page for BluetoothGPS.zip
It works fine until your machine goes to standby, when you turn the screen on again it throws up an error, you have to disable and re-enable it to get it to initilize properly again, so worked with it until MS got their act together, and now i don't need it - however its a bloody good reserve, and I wont be deleting it from my pc
BTW if your going to upgrade your rom to 1.60 do the unlock too before hand like I did

Is the 1.60 O2 Rom different than the 1.60 T-Mobile_NL Rom? My OS is upgraded to 1.60 and I still have the issues with the MS BT stack. :x Is the wm2003 sp2 update in the O2 extended Rom? If so, which cab is it?
TIA

No, but my phone was previously service provider locked, to the o2 network, as upgrading rom looses all data and so does the xda2unlock tool this forum offers, I decided to unlock and perform upgrade at same juncture, so i only had to backup and loose everything once so to speak.
SP lock may not even apply to Canadian handsets, or you may not care... However in the U.K its useful to have the ability for xda2 to accept sim cards from the other networks, like T-mobile for example
_______________
No idea what part of the updated rom includes the sp2 component, i suggest you ask your question to followers of that thread would be nice to issolate it
Thank you,
I just was curios because I am thinking to install O2 1.6 to my I-Mate. Basically just checking to avoid surprises.
Thanks

m1000 rom?

Hey guys,
I just got my XDA II and I would like to try the Orange m1000 rom.
Is there anybody that does have an UK version of the Orange m1000 rom?
Thanks
Panja
The ROM i refer to in my previous post on the Danish Orange ROM is entirely in English - except for a GPRS default setting pointing to a Danish gateway. You can easily change that.
It can be downloaded freely from Orange in Denmark.

Michael

Alas NOPE!
It can't ('out of the box/from the download') be used to update an O2 XDA2 though, because it fails the country check instantly.
As I just tried exactly these things when you posted earlier this morning mate (UK time).
I tried to run the M1000 Denmark (english language) ROM update, on my UK O2 XDA2 today.
It fails straightaway - "Invalid Country".
Not sure if you can hack it or something to allow this, but it's certainly not something I would know how to do, or feel confident trying.
have you tried chancing your country in the local settings before the upgrade ?
you could always change it back
Thanks for the replies guys!!
So what do I need to do to upgrade to the m1000 rom?
Cheers
Panja
if you can get around the country thing then you need
a cradle and the upgrade exe file
Rudegar,
No mate - the country code issue has nothing to do with user set values/user defined regional settings.
It is something hardcoded into the device ROM to identify its country.
It can't be user changed.
It is a hardware check made when starting a ROM Upgrade.
Pity though.
what if you change the exe file to zip and take out the nbf file ?
and install it bootloaderwise ?
would it not work then ?
Er, run that by me in Swahili, as English just lost me...
Nah, seriously mate, I have a basic idea of what that means, but can you be more gentle with me and give me more details?
well if the exe file is an install file
then it's really a selfunpacking zip file
and if you change it from
WHATEVERNAME.exe to WHATEVERNAME.zip
you can unzip the nbf file from inside the zip
and you can use the xdatools to flash the nbf file to a sd card
and upgrade your device from the bootloader
at least thats how you do it on the xda1

Dopod 696(chinese brand of XDA2) has been released W2K3 SE

you can view at this thread
http://www.wda.com.cn/viewthread.php?tid=119717&fpage=1
(it is chinese)
here some screen shot
when does O2 will released W2K3 SE ?
or We need to wait from T-mobile or i-mate.
So I must learn chinese... right? Or these european guys will finally have their own version of SE for Himalaya?
this sounds promising.
If we can assume that all roms are based on 1 original (and I can't be;ieve that one is chinese . . .) there MUST be a Himalaya WM2003SE WWE rom around . . .
Now if only someone can post that one . . .
I think like you edsub.
It mean that all XDA2 can use WM2003 SE.
but from other post, most of people said O2 won't release W2K3 SE
may from business trick for sell other device such as XDAIIs or XDA III
is anyone here able to get that ROM from:

?

i'm already @ 5.09MB out of 120.13 Mb however speed is 3KB/s and connection is breaking all the time... (
Could you paste the full URL for the file?
I can then add it to GetRight and it'll just sit there trying to get it for me
ftp://linyapda:[email protected]/696µÚ¶þ°æROM/69602Ver.BIN
well, some chinese characters in the path... I hope it doesn't matter...

I'm giving it a try right now... hope it works!
The device like xda II, mda II, qtek version, dpod version and other has the same hardware. If that one can use SE perfectly, surely we SE can also be use to XDA II.... i know 1 member here who uses SE he showed it to me in the pix and its tru... but he dont want to share cuz he promised to Microsoft that he will not distribute it...

Sorry, but if you name it Dopod 696 it's XDAII with Windows 2003 (not SE) you can see this link http://www.dopod.com/gb/product/696_1.jsp
and this is 696i (T-Mobile design) http://www.dopod.com/gb/product/696i_1.jsp
I think there's confusing on this matter!
Any ideas!
ammar: Nope, I've not even been able to connect to the FTP server yet.
hungdu: Those two devices are exactly the same - just different cases. ie, they're both "XDA II"'s.
Neither of them say they run WM2003SE tho.
hey guys,
check the photos of XDAII running SE, on those chinese web pages..
@buzz:
The folder /696µÚ¶þ°æROM
on the 220.163.6.130 ftp server does not contain anything!!
Gues someone was kind enought to delete it (it it was there) . . .
Any more sources?
some one confirmed that he used WM2003SE on his XDA2 :!:
read about it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=69314#69314
Have anyone downloaded the update from chineese FTP?
I'm downloading the W2K3SE now.
Will post it once complete. 8)
Under the folder in the ftp server, i found 2 files, one is 96902Ver.bin and SE Extended rom.rar .... will post when finish downloading too.

How To Create A Settings Cab File??

Hi. I Would Just like To Know How To Create A Cab File That Had All The Settings I Used On My Phone.
I Just Upgraded The Firmware On My TyTN To The AT&T AKU 3.3 Rom And Being From The UK This Ment I Had A Lot Of Information To Change In Order To Get My GPRS,WAP,MMS,E-Mails And Keyboard Layout To Work Again. It Would Have Been Really Handy If I Had Had A Cab File Wich Would Have Added All That Data For Me.
So I Was Just Wondering If Anyone Knew How To Do That.
Cheers
Sorry, Couldn't Help But To Post This, But Maybe You Also Need To Change The Setting That Automatically Capitalises The First Letter Of Every Word.
Just kidding with ya . You might have better luck in the Hermes forum, rather than the Hermes Upgrading forum.
You may try to use a software called ''WinCE.CAB.Manager''

Easy way is to find the Ext_ROM from a shipped ROM from Orange UK and run the extrom cabs to get the MMS/SMS and GPRS settings etc...
