Can't get into Bootloader - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam Software Upgradin

Hi,
I have the Vario II and I would like to upgrade my radio to 1.20 and I've been reading the wiki and various posts here to learn about it. I followed the instructions to check my bootloader version (side OK + Power then pressed Yes onscreen). That worked and I see that have v1.04 - great. The instruction said use stylus to load windows normally but nothing on the bootloader (3 colour) screen or any buttons did anything so I took the battery off and on again.
WM5 boots fine but now but I cannot get into the bootloader again to do pof's SuperCID or the radio 1.20 upgrade. It just turns off when I do a side OK + Power + press Yes.
can anyone help?

press ok+power+reset with stylus

D'oh, my bad. I thought "press reset with stylus" meant press Yes... I didn't realise the recessed reset button existed until now! Had it said "push in" rather than press I might have been quicker off the mark. Oops.
All sorted now.

Slight problem.
Some text messages are not being received now. Anyone else experienced similar problem?

You are in the wrong forum for the alpine.
Suggest you read the Alpine Wiki and then the HTC Alpine Forum

help needed after failed rom flash

Hi,
I dropped my lovely two week old tytn in the loo and after a clean and splitting the case open and leaving it to dry behind the fan of one of our hottest severs I eventually got it back to life except for two problems, bluetooth no longer worked and battery life seemed very short. I couldn't claim on insurance but realised I couldn't do without a tytn (life was just so empty ) I managed to get a discount from the shop on a new one. The screen shows slight watermarking when viewed at an angle and is not quite as bright as the replacement
Feeling I had nothing to loose and that there was a slim chance the bluetooth problem might be fixed with a reflash , I flashed it wth the HTC QTEK_001 1.18.255.3 rom. the flash was successful but didn't cure the problem, so instead of stopping there and just for curiosity I tried flashing it with the i-mate CDL_001 1.20.305.3 rom - well curiosity killed the cat, the white start up screen shows a mosaic pattern strip about 3mm wide at the top and on left side starting at top M05 S04 B05 and bottom left D1.18 it also flashes no GSM before moving to the blue windows startup screen where it hangs.
I tried flashing with the htc rom that worked from the mini sd card but it doesn't seem to see it, I get the tricolour screen with serial displayed in the bottom part (which changes to usb when plugged in).
I followed the suggestion on the wiki and ran usbmonitor, file is attached, the error I get is ERROR (222) : Device not responding.
Is there some way to force the update onto the phone.
I hope someone can help, althopugh it will probably be a back to the shop job for the bluetooth in any case.
Thanks in advance for any help.
The USB dump shows nothing useful

Determining bootloader version

Hi all.
Well, I made the jump to the Hermes.....I missed you ex-wizard guys...LOL.
I was wondering, and have searched with little to no luck, for an easy way to check the bootloader version on my Softbank. I want to start playing with it a bit, but have not been able to determine the bootloader version. I am hoping that I can downgrade to the Dopod 1.04 bootloader rom. My device info reads;
Rom Version 1.23.707.4
Rom Date 7/21/06
Radio Version 1.14.00.10
Protocol Version 32.50.7018.00H
Any help would be appreciated. I did d/l both of the guides, but I am still just a touch confused........

I can not find bootloader mode.
I followed these directions: Bootloader mode: Hold side OK and POWER buttons together and reset with stylus form this link: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Resets
side ok button is the one closest to the scroll wheel and the power button is the one closest to the top on the right side of the unit, right?
All I seem to be doing is rebooting.
Any ideas on what I may be doing wrong?
Thanks
Sometimes I jump the gun and let go of the power and ok buttons as soon as i hit reset with the stylus try holding the power and ok a moment longer.

Ameo is gone....

...tried to unlockit with the athena-unlocker! After Step 1 it startet to Step2 und suddenly the connection was lost!
Now the battery lamp of the Ameo is in green mode!
I can make a factory reset, but I see no bootloader mode!
Screen is black an a green light aroundthe joystick! The Connection via active sync to my pc isn't available any mory!
What do you think?
game over - any change to bring my Ameo back to life?
Edit1: ther is no MiniSd Card inside
Hi, I do not think your Ameo is lost. Some else hat the same problem, please check http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1358430&postcount=35 and try the steps described there. In most cases, it is also possible to flash WM6 if your device is stuck in the bootloader.
There are two things I would like you to try:
- To make a Hardreset hold the volume slider down and press the reset button.
- To enter Bootloader press and hold the camera button and press the reset button.
Do any of these work?
If any of these two works, you should be able to flash WM6.
...you were right - thx a lot 4 the solution

You're welcome, have fun with WM6 However, if you want to kill the SIM-Lock/Net-Lock on your device, you have to run the unlocker again. It seems that WM5 has some problems running the unlocker while WM6 does not.
After you successfully run the unlocker again, remember to flash your WM6 ROM again (watch the battery power, it should always be >50% before starting flashing!) so you have the newest Radio version.
If problems persist after flashing, this page in the XDA wiki might be helpful: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/inde...e Athena Unlocker - the Black Screen of Death

What are you pressing to get into BootLoader? Have you confirmed you're pressing the right buttons by searching the forum?
If you can get into BootLoader you want to try to reflash. If the ROM you're flashing with came with the device or is meant for the x7501 then it should work. If it's not meant for the x7501, get the ROM that came with the unit. I'm saying this because I've noticed some people say "shipped" ROM and they are trying to tell us that it's an official HTC ROM and not one that came or is meant for their device. Just wanted to explain.

I bought it in States as HTC-branded device (not Dopod/Ameo), so it was unlocked. I suppose...??
It appears as if you have tried to flash an X7501 with an X7500 ROM. The device is SIM unlocked but not CID unlocked (unless you did that with Olipro's unlocker) so this may be the cause of your trouble. Check the wiki and HTC's web site for information about failed ROM upgrades. Good luck and I hope your device is not bricked.

I've been doing this since yesterday. Any buttons' combination to enter BL mode don't work. I ran out of ideas how to run it. I've been searching any information but unsuccessful. Maybe you've got some idea?
Sorry I can't be more helpful. If it can be resurrected I'm sure someone smarter than me will know how. If not, hopefully you can exchange it under warranty.

Good point. A lot of people do not know the camera button is like a 2-stage shutter (press lightly to autofocus and harder to capture the image).

So you're saying that you tried to update your x7501 with an x7500 ROM and it is not booting? Need you to be very specific in case we can help.
Hi,
I bought my HTC advantage x7501 in the US and am not sure if it is CID locked. How do I get to do this? Also, does this mean that the x7501 users (like me) cannot make use of the PK ROM?
You device is almost certainly Country ID (CID) locked, there is currently no unlocker for the X7501 only the X7500 !! so no you can not run the PK rom,
unless PK somehow manages to sign or region lock his rom to the USA I suppose, but I don't think he has any intention of doing that.
...........................
Olipro should be borrowing my X7501 soon so hopefully we will get to use the PK ROM sometime thereafter...

You bet... And SPL v1.25 Olipro is on my X7501 to prove it. I will not be able to flash any cooked ROMS for a few days though; I am too busy with work to get involved...

Athena dead after switching to new Michy (SPL mismatch...)

Hi All,
I had on my Athena the previous Michy Rom (2.04 with SPL 1.20) and when I saw the new version (4.00 with SPL 3.5):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=411371
I decided to install it. Like an idiot, I did not pay attention to the fact the SPL was different... I started the flash process and when I realized my error, it was too late.
The upgrade did not completed (as expected :-()) and now I am stuck with a corrupted bootloader screen, so I can't proceed (the device does not boot so I can't access ActiveSync).
Any way forward? Thanks for any hints!
Anubis
Update - I just tried this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=326953
but without success. I get an Error [260] and the entire process stops.

When you are in bootloader(three coloured screen) what do you see?
remove sim and sd card , hold camera button all the way in and press the reset button(on the back close to the battery cover)
If you see in bootloader mode ID showing somenting different than ATHE100 the solution is HERE http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=405814
I had the same problem! whell restart your pc and then connect the device to it. now start flashin an spl 1.20 rom. i did it and it worked! I hope i works for you too.

Thanks - already tried!
When I reset/hard-reset the phone (tried many ways) I see a garbled boot image (with random pixels here and there)... It is definitively not the usual bootloader with the information about the various ROM components and the "USB" text at the bottom.

Solution!
I managed to do the same thing - had an old AP ROM with SPL 1.2 already installed then earlier today I tried to upgrade to the new Mitchy R4 SPL 3.5. I thought my Ameo was bricked, but after some pain it is now working again.
Here is what I did:
1) Enter bootloader mode using the very tricky Camera+Volume+Reset method.
2)
Follow exactly the steps in post 33 here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=387454&highlight=mtty&page=4
Note, I'm running Vista so to get the USB option to show in MTTY, I had to first open "Windows Mobile Device Center" in Control Panel then disable the USB.
Also, note you should find your MAC under the battery flap.
3) Now all you need to do is reset, enter the bootloader mode again, and re-try the ROM (PS, make sure you use the correct SPL version!
Hope this helps.

However you are incorrect in your advice about how to enter bootloader
