This is my first post but with many questions ...
I've a G4 Qtek 9100 (provided by french mob. op. SFR) with the following config :
SPL/IPL : 2.17.0001
Radio : 02.07.10
OS : 2.17.7.6 (ROM 2.17.7.6 FRE / Ext ROM 2.17.7.8030)
Rom date : 2/21/06
Protocol : 413.1.03
I've SIM-unlocked this G4 with lokiwiz03a to use it with Orange in France.
Now first step I would like to remove all SFR config and load the french Orange one -> to do that do I need to remove averything in the current ext rom (with TC for instance) and replace it by the following ext rom "ext ROM OrangeSPV M3000 -1.3.1.105-FRA" ?
However I read that first I need to unlock the ext ROM, how can I do that, do I need a special tool ?
Second step I will probably change the ROM with the following one "RUU_Prodigy_2170706_21707106_20710_QTEK_FRA_Ship" after having CID unlocked my G4 using imei-check.co.uk. However will I need to reload the Orange ext ROM ?

regarding g4 device and "cooked" ext_roms
I had a question and since someone 'hijacked' this thread, i thought I'd do t the same
I have a TMO g4 MDA. Now am I correct in that any roms I do load will not get the ext_rom? Just the tmo ext?
Seems that somehow the Tmo ext rom is there even after I add my own or molski's or anyone elses rom.
Any info would greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

I need 1.72 WWE

Can someone help me to upgrade my Hymalaya ?

The provider specific bits are in the ExtRom.
So in fact you can use any 1.72.00 upgrade file and delete the ms_.nbf file before proceding.
Afterwards you can fill your Extended Rom with the applications you want using the Extended Rom Unlock tools.
BTW: This is always a better solution because using a 'wrong' ExtRom could get you into CountryID trouble with the next upgrade.
There are numerous posts with 1.72.00 rom upgrades in it, but I :lol: would recomend my RUU172902WWE upgrade. It is documented what the files in the ExtRom all do, so its simple to skip the operator specific ones.

I have upgraded with http://www.qtek.nu/files/RUU172752WWE.zip and it works fine. However do not forget to first backup and then Hard reset the device before upgrading

I'm considering two ROMs:
- by faria
- X - plore 1.1
I found ShellTool and G4_step_by_step_install_wm6.rar that will help me to install chosen ROM. Are there any tips I shoud pay attention to? Anybody here who installed one of mentioned ROMs on the same device?
i have the faria rom on my machine.works fine.. i've ran into all problems i can/could encounter but eventually it will work.

I have already read lots of threads about extended rom unlocker but i didn't find anyone that gives a real solution for this.
I've tried many "Extended Rom unlocker" and i couldn't unlock my rom yet.
Is there any solution for this?
If anyone has an "Extended Rom unlocker" file, it's possible to show the link from where i can download it...

What Rom you are use?
Some Custom Roms havent setup the EXT_ROM. Then you cant unlock them!! Unlocking is a Driver setting with enabled or disabled Writing Prodection and make them visible!

I would like to upgrade my ROM, or even update my device with WM6, but without unlocking it i can't.
I've already register at HTC site, but there is no offical ROM update for my Qtek S200 G4.
If it's possible to unlock the rom, where do i find an official rom update PTG?

I have the same problem, I cant load any new roms, or WM6, nothing except my default rom.

You must first unlock your SPL and then you can flash any ROM you like.
If the SPL ends in "1" the device is a G4 else is a G3.
I have attached the program for unlocking the SPL. I already used it, and now I am testing any ROM I like on my S200.
Just run "RomUpdateUtility..." after you sync your device. If after this procedure on your startup screen apears on SPL "4PDA" you solve the problem.

i have done the update and it shows 4pda on it, whats the next step to get a rom on it, can you give a short step by step guide and if possible a rom that i can download to try, or a link for roms, i really want the wm6.5, i find it complicated as you can only flash certain roms and a certain way, or is it the same way i have done this hardspl g4?

hi there guys i have a vario 3.. and a vario 1 my vario 1 is a tmobile rom and works fine.. my friend came over with his vario 1 on a vodafone g4 rom and its sucks its soo slow and crashes all the time.. i have no idea where to start to get a suitable rom for the phone its unlocked... i have no idea if its CID unlocked but he says it is..... where do i start im lost..... G4 device all uncloked apparently lol.... but i tihnk on the tmobile site there rom is for a g3...... oh 1 more thing if i flash a rom and the CID isent unlocked do i brick it

Ok,firstly,a G4 phone cannot be CID unlocked like a G3 phone,however, it can be upgraded to latest custom build wm6.1 rom through either SoftSPL or HardSPL.You can read about them in the G4 forum,if you wish to upgrade to wm6.
Secondly,all official roms are meant for flashing to both the devices,regardless being G3 or G4,they contain IPL/SPL for both the devices,when the RUU is run to flash it determines the version of the phone and will only flash the appropriate IPL/SPL(Bootloaders),therefore,all the Official Stock roms posted at the carrier's official website are safe and can be flashed to both the devices.

The bootscreen say :
IPL : 3.08.0001
SPL : 3.08.0001
GSM : 02.69.11
OS : 3.8.2.2
Is ist possible to upgrade the Rom to any custom Firmware?
I´ve found that this is an G4 phone but im not sure it´s possible to upgrade.
Maybe you can tell me it´s possible or not.
I hope my eglish is good enough so that somebody understand what i mean.

hi, yes, you can flash a new rom, but first of all, read , read, read and then read again, the process is very simple once you have readed the faqs (stickies)

I´ve read the Wiki and the sticky´s in this forum, i´ve searcht for my IPL/SPL Build and read this topics too.
But i´m unsure.
In the past (when the Wizard was new for me) i´ve read that the IPL/SPL 3.08.0001 (AKU3) wasn´t possible to upgrade .
Now i can´t find anything about that but i´m unsure.
Then i´ve read about Soft an HardSPL Flash but what is the best for me?
I´ve read that SoftSPL was better if you have warranty on your phone but my phone havent any warranty because it´s to old.
Should i use HardSPL to permanently remove the CID lock (then i should use only G4Save Rom´s - Right?)?
So Steps i want to do now to upgrade my Wizard :
1 . G4 Hard SPl CID unlock

But this tutorial say´s (After reboot the IPL version is : 2.21.0001 and the SPL is 2.21.olip) can the IPL 2.21.0001 boot the "old" AKU3 T-Mobile Germany Rom or must i update the rom with Mun's RUU imediatly?
2. I Update the rom with Mun's RUU after i´ve read this ROM Features, Ratings, Information and Program List topic to chose the best rom for me, G4 Safe only!?
Right or have i forgot some steps?
