NOT Windows Mobile 6 beta (crossbow) - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam Software Upgradin

so i got my hands on this.. can i flash it to my hermes device?

Probably not. It probably the Universal ROM.

how can i tell what device its for.. ?? says the platform is windows ce and its windows mobile 6 beta

is there a way i can find out what device it is for??

Hi
I think, if this is xbow for hermes, the Mods will close the thread and delete your post. Like they did it sometimes before.

well i never saw this happening.. requesting a rom is a different issue.. everybody would like to have a dump of a wm6 rom (yes even the mods)
so what you're saying is not true, they would try to help to get it dudmped...
but i seriously doubt that this is a wm6 rom

how exactly should i prove this.. i have the file right infront of me .. 58.2mb... it has all the data such as the romupgradeut.ext ui.dll ruu.dll nk.nbf ruu.conf getdecicedada.exe.. ect ect.. where and what should i do with this?

Hello I've found the file too... but the updater show an universal when i start it.... is there any possibility to get it run on the hermes or can I delete it... I've already seen videos showing crossbow on the hermes...

yeh when i start it i def. dont see a hermes,, is this the universal rom?

HonestAbe: why not try decompiling the rom with mamaich's romtools?
Once you've done that check out the contents of the rom - you should be able to tell if the resources are in VGA format or QVGA format and identify it that way at least - although if you look at the rom header that will also give you the same info easier.
Worst case, PM me or one of the other moderators, I suggest Pof, and we'll have a look at the rom.
For now, can you just list the name of the file(s) you've got, with file sizes? Is there a readme.txt or similar in the file? If so, what does it say?
What makes you think it is for Hermes and not Universal or another device?
scorpio16v: some threads were deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot host the rom on this site. For even more relevant moral reasons, we cannot risk harm to people that leak roms in an identifiable form, so try to protect them if that happens. But apart from that, we're all quite interested in roms, Crossbow or otherwise.

No, that's definitely the Universal Rom that I repackaged, the original Universal leak:

A stupid question: How change ROM's date/version

I'll made my ROM for a Trinity, anyway I'm use this section because i think that the "Hermes Upgrading" one is the most reable about this argument...
So,
I'll edit a coocked-rom, after....how can I modify his date/version (diplayed on boot and in settings->info tab) ???
Tnks,
nobody can help me?
i am interested about rom date also
please!!!!!!

Any responses on this?

Thanks Dan!! Can you point me in the correct direction as to which offset?
did anyone find this out? I want to change the Date on my custom Vogue ROM
Not much luck for me, either, but when cooking around with the shipped AT&T WM6.0 ROM, I was able to change the Version by simply editing the PROVXML file in OEMVersion.
The only way I found to change the ROM's Date was by hex-editing the completed .NBH file. This is not very elegant, and needs to be done after every build. Also, it only effects the ROM Date shown on the Settings->System->DeviceInfo screen. The danged calendar that pops up when you are first initializing the device does NOT obey the new date, which is a bit of a pain.
I've searched long and hard in many of the device forums, as well as a few other websites. I've tried some Kaiser tools, as well as some others. If any forum members really know how to do this on a Hermes, nobody is talking. Too bad.

GOT IT
OK, Done it in my latest 20270 ported to hermes XIP and SYS... After cooking before loading into the NBH. Hex edit the os-new.nb and search asci text (2007) The first two results will be the ones you change.. Change these dates to the rom dates you desire. and WHAMMO you have a rom with a current date.. ENJOY. and thanks to Abusalza in the hermes forum for his assistance with this.

It sounds like this achieves the same thing I did by hex-editing the resuting .NBH. I am curious ... does this method also change the initial date that comes up when initializing a new ROM ... just after the screen alignment? When I HexEdit the NBH file, the ROM's date is changed on the Device Info Screen, but the ROM initialization routine always starts with the calendar at 9/1/2007. What happens with your method?
-pvs
HexEdit .nbh file, search for the month (unicode) e.g. jul . Replace month
(3 letters) and date that follows.
First calendar screen and internal rom date will be updated this way.
you may edit also .provxml (e.g. oemversion provxlm) ...

Thanks for this, swtos, but this is what I've been doing. Unfortunately, it does not work (for the initialization calendar) on my cooked AT&T WM6 ROM. It DOES change the ROMDate in DeviceSettings, but it has no effect on that initial calendar.
Oh well,

Then you have to edit nk.exe\s000 ..

Thanks a lot, swtos. I already know I don't have the s000 module (already tried that method), but I guess I could possibly "reversmode" NK.EXE and go from there (never tried THAT).
I'll also have a look at XIP.bin/XIP_out.bin, and see what's up with that.

Hmmm ... my ROM doesn't NEED this package, as it already has the auto TZ options ON as a default. But if you could post a link to the OEM package you're referring-to, I'd be very happy to take a look at it, and see if it exhibits this "side-effect" on my ROM. That would be great!

Dumping 6800 rom

ok i was able to get the ruu extracted with nbhtool.
what came out of that was
Extendedrom.nb
windows.nb
primarysplash.nb
radio.nb
secondarysplash.nb
spl.nb
then i tried tadzios app to try and dump the rom i used the hermes setting and prophet setting both didnt give me a dump folder just some files. one was imgfs others i forgot.
anyone have any ideas.
aWaiter.exe -1 05_OS.nb -force
aWaiter C# Port

[05_OS.nb] is not a valid OS file...
Not having much luck converting the nb to imgfs either. I've tried aWaiter, aChef, and then various imgfs tools that errored out. I don't know enough about the file format to conclude anything (for all I know, I missed a step somewhere. )
Anyone with more experience have anything to add?
upload the os.nb and ill try some things
Here it is! Extracted with nbhextract.

I just uploaded the windows.nb from the 6800 rom to an ftp (no wait):
ftp://ppcgeeks:[email protected]/Titan/Users/ImCoKeMaN/
I also uploaded the SPL incase anyone wants to take a look at that it's in the same directory.

err its not that simple
firstly atm the tool only goes one way, secondly even if you did get one to re-compile it you cannot flash unsigned code to the titan until someone bypasses that.
Oh that just bites. I was hoping to have some touchflo goodness sooner rather than later.
Also how fast does something like that usually take? days? Months? years? is it something simple. Or is it a very daunting task like looking for an exploit in the xbox 360

The dump tools in midgets post will dump the files from the RUU_Singed.nbh. you will need to extract the .nbh from the newest rom update HTC released. i think the nbh may be in this thread look on page one im not sure.

Here you have:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1420252&postcount=302
you have to extract from the rom the os.nb, with nbextract. Later do the edit of the file looking for the HTC-Athena and change into HTC-Hermes. Next step is introduce this file in your Athena, do a hard reset and job done.

Thanks for that. Only problem (and I may be really thick here) is that I can't find NBExtract or any of the other tools I need to do the job. I think I will wait for the time being before going to WM6. [TUTORIAL] How to Cook for GENE [UPDATED FEB-14]

Hi,
In this tutorial I'll try to explain how to cook for ours Genes. I'll try to be clear and i hope all of you can understand the necessary steps to acomplish this work.
For any doubts feel free to ask.
Index of steps:
1st step: How to Extract files from ROM to make a BASE ROM.
2nd step: How to build your first ROM
I thank all of the XDA for this work
and sorry for my bad english
How to Extract files from ROM to make a BASE ROM.
In this guide I not use any kitchen, only tools. This way is more easy to understand the whole process.
In this guide i'll use Chayn Diamond style ROM as an example but you can use any ROM that you like (The ROM must be unprotected).
Let's begin:
1 - Create a folder on your hd root (usualy C: ) called MOD_ROM and unpack the TOOLs folder inside it. Unpack Chayn and copy ruu_signed.nbh to MOD_ROM folder.
2 - Let's go extract the rom contents:
Type: (This will facilitate the work)
Code:
set path=C:\MOD_ROM\TOOLS
2.1 - Open a DOS prompt and navigate to MOD_FOLDER and type:
Code:
nbhextract ruu_signed.nbh
and wait it finish. This tool will extract all files inside a *.nbh file.
Now we have 2 files: 00_Extrom.nb and 01_OS.nb(We'll manipulate this file)
2.2 - Type:
Code:
imgfsfromnb 01_OS.nb imgfs.bin
This will extract imgfs.bin from os.nb. With imgfs.bin we can now dump the files inside rom.
2.3 - Type:
Code:
imgfstodump imgfs.bin
This will create a dump folder and store all files from rom inside it. This may take a while.
2.4 - Delete dump_MemoryMap.txt
2.5 - We have to run pkgtool now to create packages from these files
Code:
start "" /w pkgtool dump
2.6 - Now we have 2 folders inside dump: OEM and SYS. Sometimes pkgtool don't put packages in your right place so run this tool
Code:
pkg_cp
It'll put the packages in yours right places (if pkgtool left some). After this rename the dump folder to BASE_ROM and inside it create a folder called ROM. Should be this way: ROM(empty), OEM and SYS
3 - Dump and extract xip files
3.1 - Dumping xip
type:
Code:
msflshtool 01_OS.nb -d -p 1
It'll generate a 01_OS.nb.part1 file. Rename it to xip.bin
3.2 - Now create a folder called XIP inside MOD_ROM folder and type this
Code:
dumprom -5 -d xip xip.bin
This will extract xip files.
3.3 - Delete the dump folder and move XIP folder to ROM folder inside BASE_ROM.
Your BASE_ROM is now complete, ready for cooking.
Download Link TOOLS: http://www.4shared.com/file/84674501/ec87e7f4/TOOLS.html
Mirror: http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=27fc933b7e3147c3d1014a7a667fa2b4e04e75f6e8ebb871
In next step we'll build our first rom. When ready I post here.

Well Ramerson, if you allow, i would like to post a tut to cook using your kitchen the way i do it. I was saying to write a tut about the easy way. And by the way, your XIPs also miss cacheflt.dll and some other DLL files so using XIPPorter may be easy for you, but it definately does not produce complete XIP's. Cacheflt.dll can be used to gain good filesystem speeds and VanillaManila Ultimate uses it. I use the manual method of XIP porting for that. Anyways, If not many people call for it, i wont write it anyways. Its a hard task writing such long tuts

Btw in this weekend I'll post the second part: How to build your first rom
Sorry to all for the delay in posting the tutorial. My job is taking much of my time.

storage encryption not working

some time while building ROM storage encryption not working ie when i click on start-> setting -> System -> Encryption and click on box it's get tick but after that if i go to check it again, it's again get clear
i include mencfilt.dll and had boot_ms.rgu in XIP
but when i check registry entry after flash this key r missing
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\FATFS\Filters\ENCFilt]
"Dll"="mencfilt.dll"
"Order"=dword:5
even after putting this entry manually encryption not work
if anybody has solution let me know .
-----------solution ------------
copy crypt32.dll mencfilt.dll and boot_ms.rgu from previous woking XIP (note that there must be not much different between AKU of XIP from where you r copying working file )

I will always be grateful to you for helping me use my Gene to its full potentitial.
Thanks again.

Hope it just the beginning...

Work fine on mine.
Do you use old kitchen or new kitchen???
I ever read at thread (I forget which one, but it not in GENE) old kitchen will build registry directly to boot.hv, if you put it inside boot.rgu or boot-ms.rgu, it will not be processed. Try to put it in the boot.hv, you need to convert it to *.rgu first.

I guess you try replacing the mencfilt.dll from a working build, there is no difference between builds in this file since some time.

i try that also but still not working, actually it not very important but if we get solution we will learn more about XIP because i m sure we r missing something in XIP
Are you sure your DRM packages are allright? I guess you are using the new one that came with HTC MEGA OEM. Try reverting back to the Lockstream one.
BTW Ankit yaar, i have heard that 21851 is out by monkeybepe, but cant find it. Have you got any idea?

yep i m using
Code:
PACKAGE_Rhodium_LockStreamDRM
PACKAGE_Rhodium_LockStreamDRM_0409
And you have the entries in boot.rgu? the timewizard.exe and others? Also i would recommend to revert to the original one since it doesn't do any good to the phone to get a new one. It doesn't adds any features or performance benifits.
Plus use a platform rebuilder based kitchen since it recompiles boot.rgu to boot.hv everytime it builds a rom.
yep i have
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\LSOMACORE]
"Index"=dword:00000001
"Prefix"="DRM"
"Dll"="lsomacore.dll"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\Filters\LsFilter]
"Order"=dword:00000001
"Dll"="LSFILTER.dll"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Init]
"Launch98"="TimeWizard.exe"
solution
yes ! got solution copy crypt32.dll mencfilt.dll and boot_ms.rgu from previous woking XIP (note that there must be not much different between AKU of XIP from where you r copying working file )
Oh yes! crypt32.dll, how could i forget it man! sorry bro it slipped out of my mind. Boot_ms.rgu can be from any of the XIPs though, its same in all 6.1 and 6.5 XIPs till now.
