i have started by uploading artemis roms etc the phone i actually have but in order to be effective i need other roms from the other devices. please can users with these devices log-on to the website and upload whatever they have and i will make them available for others to share and so we can continue to develop these devices.

Your website looks pretty cool.
Just wondering if you wouldn't mind posting a link for a nice ROM (Windows Mobile 2005) that is fast, reliable & stable for Xda 2! Thanks!
And one more thing....... could you please specify on your website what device each ROM is for.... cos it doesn't say that for some ROMs! Thanks!

I backed up the entire xda-developers ftp site before they took off the roms.
which means i have every rom that was available.
Unfortunately i dont know how i can get them to you.
I do have a website, but cannot handle the bandwith required to host them.
hit me back with some q's
Regards
Alex

Dear mo20103
i'm sorry to tell you it was the best and my arabic favorite web site but unfortunetly it's not as good as it use to be anymore.
recently they have lost lots of good users since some of their moderators started abusing their power with no reason!
i feel sorry for them and i hope they will sort out their problems soon before it's too late cause i hate to see my Favoriate site going down and pretty fast
since they were attack by hackers group and their server was rooted few weeks a go they gone crazy and they are worst then before now specially when it comes to the way they deal with users comments on what's going on on their forum.
one thing more i notice some of their best staff step down for unkown reasons !
well, just to correct your information http://www.pocketpc4arab.com they have just started less then 3 weeks ago and before i write this i just check their forum and they have 51 users and not as you said 7 users compare to the other forum which is almost one year old.
best regards and have a great day

wm2k5

Hi Guys
When will we see the wm5 rom up again. I have requested from few guys here for the wm2k5_106a. Rob Pennington denied me and even doubted me afraid that I'm someone tracking him.
I looked around ftp search engines and torrents to no vail. P2P too slow and two days I've got only 50kb.One guy care to send me but it was corrupted. I itched to test the latest wm5.
Anybody can do the favour of sending it to me personally? Very much appreciated.
all 2k5 versions and other software written by me, themes by xda2jojo, registry and bootloaders stuff by toenailed will be very soon (monday ?) available on http://buzzdev.net
site is still in alpha phase, so don't expect miracles yet...

@ 004
why do you think so?
I just want to present our stuff different way...
there are also many other web sites dealing with PPCs, editing ROMs etc...
...and then, there is no more 2k5 development on this site AFAIK (at least for last few weeks)
where are all those jojo's skins?
deleted...

Finally... a good news after a couple of weeks mourning :!:
In fact I'm back to WM2K3 SE since the 'best thing' in the forum got shutdown.
I miss the Friday upgrade announcements, the download from the FTP & the weekend resets on my device. Hope the FUN begins again & soon.
Keep up the good work Buzz, Toe & Jojo & let us know how we can be of any help if needed!
@josedias
you have to confirm the registration. Confirmation mail was sent to **[email protected]**
buzz
this is great
I registered already!
Thanks Buzz, JOJO & Toe and everyone else that make that new site possible.
It is great. You must make a place on that site where registered users can upload apps and games.
I like that.

ROM image archive taken down - See the announcment ^^^^ HUH!??!

Hey people, im sure this will be locked fairly quick but, does that mean ALL the ROMs we are playing with will be removed!??!

well that SUCKS!!!!
I guess we shall be hosting our own then, the FTP may be gone but we can get around that surely!? (possibly a nice breach of T&Cs there....but dammit!!)
ok,
what we need now is to host all the ROMS on rapidshare ASAP.
Does anyone have an unlimited account on there?
what i can say is everyone start getting your hands on all roms from the ftp you can and ill have a server setup in a few weeks that can host 1TB with a 100MB connection.... so everyone start downloading...

GO GO GO!
i cant believe M$. Just shows how large this site is getting if it attracts such attention
downloading
okay, I think my next phone will be a Nokia again.
Hate the lack of support from HTC and M$ now makes it even worse.
Never had problems with Nokia and the official 1.18 rom just sucks..........
I wouldnt quit on the HTC front JUST yet, its just the ftp that is affected by this remember. We will sort something out
This is INDEED a SAD SAD DAY ! taking a deeeeep breath !
Gawd damn, stop d/lling, you're killing the forum
Anyway, Im not shocked that MS asked that, just dissapointed.
But Im sure this won't be the end of days. Since there are already good How to -guides available in the forum and the operators/manufacturers still provide ROM updates, so what we could do, is to create links to manufacturers/operator released ROMs.
Then with good guides we can do ROM upgrading/tweaking and stuff like before.
See my sig
I guess we are slowing this forum down BIG TIME!
Im surprised there isnt alot of threads about this in the other devices forums?!?!
Well, i think the M$ was very stupid doing that. The first and most important is that a community like Xda-Developers only do something good for them: marketing, development and support their mistakes!
Well, that was not the first stupid thing that came from M$...
You know I really liked my P900 back in the day..
The Sony really took a beating and lasted a long time.. The SE website wasn't too bad either..
If they came out with something better more along the lines I would have no problem Dumping M$ for all there $hit they pull..
This is a DEVELOPER Forum..
How are people going to DEVELOPE and Test if they do not have the resorces..
Anyway it won't stop anything.. the files will just be hosted elseware..
Anyone with google will be able to find them...
All this does is gives us another reason to hate them..

The FTP content for Hermes (EVERYTHING), including the Uploaded folder is now on my home fileserver too.
I have the whole hermes site up and tuning on p2p.
why not go bittorrent sevrer? great for deniability.
no... easier than that;
an IRC bot that people have to issue a command to; when they do so, their IP is added to an access list and they can login to an FTP server; after each file download they must reauthenticate with the bot.
this means access is no longer public and somewhat more "underground" although instructions on how to access it is easily available; this is precisely how the Xbox distribution service Xbins works (note that Xbins do not distribute "warez" only modification tools and hacks for the Xbox)

I agree there should still be a centralised way for us to access ROMs, just so frustrating since we have ALL paid for the devices, which in the process pays M$ for the WM we get, we are the best source for them to get bug reports and in field tests carried out on the software. Its not illegal (as in piracy, stealing software) but this software is readily available to people who look hard enough!! (from the operators!).
If it wasnt for this site ALOT of people would have abandoned the WM platform (i know i would have if i had to stick with the ORIGINAL ROM i had on my HTC TyTN!).
My opinion is a torrent would be the best option for us. If i knew how to set one up id have one running for the content the Hermes uses.

Online ROM Cooker Ever On The Horizon?

Back when I owned an XDA II, someone created an online ROM cooker that you could customise on the website... choose which programs and tweaks you wanted to install and then it cooked it for you and provided it for download.
Will something like this ever be available for the Hermes or is this idea dead now that MS won't allow ROMS for download? I have been reading about the ROM Koch and love the progress but am wondering if it will ever be streamlined to a simple click & cook type of interface...

can you provide a link as to this site??
M$ will come down on top of us, like a ton of bricks i rekon....but id LOVE to see this
/t
walshieau, this was about 4 years ago when the XDA II was at its most popular. Maybe someone else here who owned an XDA II may recall it or know how it worked.
I just did a quick Google hoping something would jog my memory and I found a thread on xda-developers!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=226272
The site is shutdown now though.
a quick google comes back with http://www.romkitchen.de/ as one of the first results
well since Olipro and dutty have managed to port all of the tools to .NET im happy to host the website if they want their code ported to online applications....
There was another provided by a guy named Yorch I recall as well that was a good online one... I think it died off though
Yorch that was it!
That site was fantastic! If we could do the same for the Hermes, that'd be... even more...... fantastic!

Calling all Raphael Chefs :)

I believe sharing info and knowledge will make for better ROMs in this forum. I'm already communicating via IM with two greats chefs here, arrup and da_g but I believe that if we setup a "chatroom" of some sort, or if we each have each other IM addresses, we will share the knowledge better. With that said, I'm "ediz28" on Yahoo, "nrgz2" on AIM and "[email protected]" on MSN. Let's talk!
My AIM and Yahoo is the same handle as as here and my windows messenger is the same but just add live.com at the end...
HEHE you already have mine NRG Ill add At0mAng when I get home. I think its a great idea.
Still working my way up the ranks; not sure if this is senior member only would love the opportunity to join though - i've sent u a PM.
Cheers,
Does anyone share anymore anyway?
I had found a way to load manila into XIP & it flies & was really stable.
I asked several people to share, only one that did was dutty, but it was WVGA, so, still trying to convert & edit everything.

The Raphael forum shared a lot more info and has a lot more people willing to help new chefs than the Kaiser forum.
I am just speaking on my own expierence and what I have seen.
So yes, lots of people in here do share.

Very interesting. Could you give a way how to do that ? I saw something like that on rom from DFT.
An IRC chat room would be good. As it would probably be the people willing to contribute who would bother to join, and you can easily set password entry etc if you dont want others to join
The chefs here in the Raphael forum have been friendly, helpful and always willing to share. Everything I know about cooking I have learned from them. The problem in the Raphael forum is definitely NOT the chefs!
If anyone cares I am eras2r on AIM

nowadays everybody can cook their own rom if they really use all the valuable info here & hv time to do own testing, troubleshooting & may share any solution to critical problem. so, everybody can be a cook, chef or whatever it called. only creativity will make u different
Thanks
Why not IRC channel?

I'm not using any IM apps but always available at [email protected]
Hi
I'm not at home in the ROM production but i will help you. All beta versions i trying and report the bugs and errors. If you need my help, write.
I think the best rom developement by: NRGZ28, Da_G and AtOmAnG corporation.
Sorry for my bad english!
I'm a Hungarian user
OK i registered #xda-raphael on irc.freenode.net.
Public channel for this sort of topic so its there now if you guys wanna use it.
I hopped on IRC, but it's a little dead in the chans (wow I haven't used IRC for almost a decade..)
I'm on MSN/Yahoo/AIM/GTalk if anyone wants to IM me, just send me a PM for my info.. i'd post it here but I get enough spam as it is
I don´t know if it´s possible, but a private thread for chefs might be an option.
Just an idea.
