Itech Clip Radio problem - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam Accessories

Has anyone used the Itech Clip Radio with a Hermes before? I think I read on here that someone was able to use it but I'm having trouble pairing it to the phone.
The headset is a bit hard to turn on as it takes a few presses of the function button before it turns on. After it's on and blinking 1 blue/ 1red LED (not alternating between blue and red) I try to find the device on my Jasjam but it can't find anything.
I also tried to discover the headset with an Atom Exec, Nokia N80 and Nokia NGage and they all couldn't find it.
Any idea what I should do?
Thanks

It's ok now. I didn't press long enough to get the pairing working before. Works fine now but have yet to try out the other functions.

Hi Jag,
I have in mind to get the itech radio clip too. Would you post a little review of what you think about it and how it works with the hermes?
Thanks
Nav

Don't do it, it can produce very poor quality sound with the Hermes. Go for the Nokia or Sony.

The S38 works great for me. I wouldn't exactly describe myself as an audiophile, but I have spent alot of time listening with mine. The only trick is if it plays for a second and turns off, you need to lock the screen (push power button) and turn it back on. works great after that.
I listen to Sirius over the internet though. I have no interest in terrestrial radio So I guess if you are asking about the radio reception, you should ignore my opinion.

I have iTech Clip Radio too. I am fine with the quality.
But I found some times the device will drop sound and the device seems still connected to Hermes. The BlueTooth status is X "Not active".
I need to reboot Hermes in order to resume it.
Do you have similar situation? Or, do you have any solution?
Thanks!!!

The lastest version of WM6 Black, 3 has updated Bluetooth drivers which significantly improves both performance and sound quality. give it a shot if you have troubles.

Motorola BT HS850 headset?

Has anyone tried the newest Motorola BT headset with the Blue Angel. The unit just started shipping recently and is the successor to the HS810, which seemed to have a large approval factor (although not perfect). The unit has a flip to use short boom that also acts as an on/off switch. Early reviews indicate that the reconnect time is around a second or two. Based on all the BT issues reported here and other places, I will buy nothing without a first hand test, but I was curious if anyone had tried the HS850.
David
Motorola HS820 with the SX66
Seems to work just fine -- No problems
Have a Belkin Bluetooth 100M USB adapter .. seems to have problems... doesn't auto connect... have to connect manually..
I have the HS850. The connection to IIs is stable. The call pickup time when the boom is open is almost instantaneous. However when the boom is closed, the pickup time can range from 3 to 4 rings all the way to 8 rings and above.
From my experience, it's best to use the HS850 on the same side where you keep your IIs. For me, I clip my IIs on my left side of my body, so I use the headset on my left ear. This setup has proved very reliable for me. The static noise is lesser this way as well.
If I didn't do that, the call will sometimes take a long time to pickup, too unreliable to use. Even if the call is pickup, the other end will encountered alot of static noise.
HTC really need to improve the BT in IIs, if they can boost up the BT signal and reduce the static noise, it'll be perfect.
The HS850 imo is a good match to my IIs, both of them have the same color scheme. The ability to open and close the boom is a very nice feature.
me too
I have the HS850 for use with my PDA2K.
I found it had alot of static before the ROM upgrade and reloading the BT Patch #2 from Imate. Now I have no problems.
The connection is lasts overnight even when my PDA2K is off. Once I turn it on, all I have to do is put on the headset and tap the button once, and they are synced.
-----
I read on another forum that MS Voicecommand just released v1.5 and that it might allow VoiceCommand over Bluetooth...am going to download the trial tonight and find out. I have MS Voicecommand 1.0.
Still no voice command over bluetooth.
I got a hs850 and it is as it says here in that it syncs well and connects no problems but i am having trouble as my voice seems to being picked up by the phone rather than the hs850 mic.....should the phone be picking me up if i am recivving via the headset..or could the unit be faulty ??
I have the HS850 and it works perfectly with the PDA2K. My only gripe, and the reason I'm returning it is that the volume is very low. It works wonderfully well, which is great at home and in the office. I use it often in the car or on the metro, and it's just not loud enough for any environment with much background noise. Overall a very good unit, but not loud enough.

I want stereo bluetooth + FM Radio + earbuds.. 'Cause I'm spoilt

Afternoon Folks,
I guess we all want our ideals and dreams fulfilled.. so my aspirations are small really...
My TyTN pleasure would be boundless if I could get some bluetooth headphones/handsfree with an FM radio built in that either had, or I could attach some decent sony earbud ear phones (gotta blank out the incessant crap-chat on the train to work in the mornings ) rather than the pad ones that just fall out every other step..
So I'm thinking my only (currently available) option would be to get a Nokia HS-12W headset and pay a grown up to change the earphones over...
My questions are...
1. Anyone tried a HS-12W with a TyTN?
2. Anyone know of a person/company in the UK who would do the electronics sorcery?
3. Anyone think of a better way to achieve my modest dreams?
Thanks,
Andy
I have some Nokia HS-12W bluetooth headphones and to be honest I am disappointed with the results which I suspect has more to do with the phone than the headset.
I find that if I am more than about a metre away from the phone or the phone's memory is in anyway dealing with any other task, that I get constant skipping. I have come to the conclusion that this is because the phone memory can't keep up with the streaming but that is just a guess.
Also, I have found that the radio reception is a bit poor so quite often I get a lot of static noise, even on the strong stations. Sometimes it's okay though.
It is possible that either my headset or my phone are in some way faulty because I have read other peoples posts regarding the HS-12W and they have had some good results. Perhaps I am just unlucky
I have resorted to going back to using the standard headphones and using streaming radio instead (I am on T-Mobile so doesn't cost silly amounts of money for the data use).
Thanks for your reply Nicky...
I'll have a search myself for feedback on the HS-12W... I tried earlier and couldn't find anything directly tried with a TyTN but I'm crap at searching..
The closest "off the shelf" option seems to be one of itech's old PowBox's... LINK HERE it fulfills everything I want apart from it's not stereo bluetooth... it's mono... but at the moment I'm kinda thinking that may be a better option than trying to find someone to change the earphones on the Nokia, and then it perhaps not work afterwards...
From what others have written here the itech prodcuts in general seem to work ok with the TyTN so maybe an older itech product will work seamlessly! Yeah right!
Yep... my one beef with the HS-12W is the range (2-3 meters or so). I think its fidelity when in range is awsome though and it plays skip free too.
I've never tried the FM radio on it to be honest...
Thanks Sleuth
Do all the buttons on the Nokia work with the TyTN?
I was put off the itech R35 when a few people on here said some of the buttons aren't compatible...
Thanks,
Andy
Just out of interest, does anyone know what the difference is between the Itech S35, S38 and R35.
I was thinking of trying one of these to see if the range/skipping was any better than the HS-12W but also, I have some fontopia headphones which I would quite like to use and this would be quite a good solution for that too.
I have looked on the Itech website but am still struggling to see any comparitive difference.
@sts_missle: From an AVRCP standpoint, all the buttons work just fine with WMP. I can skip tracks, pause and control the volume without issues.
There's no AVRCP support at all for TCPMP/CorePlayer 1.0 yet however. This is a problem with those apps, not the HS-12W though. I believe CorePlayer AVRCP support is in the very near future though since it seems that the Technology Preview had it.
Thanks again Sleuth.
I've just found out the itech PowBox can't stream audio from a device, only from itself, (256mb memory or the radio) and it's a big ol' thing too, so the Nokia it is then..
Now I've just got to find someone who'll swap the earphones over for me...

Jabra BT320s stereo handsfree

anyone seen this in action???
Wondering about this for my TyTN
http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/11702.htm
I have that one and it work like a dream with my computer but on the tytn i dont get so clear sound, i have conected i to my sonyericsson k800 and it work really nice with good sound,
i guess when the tytn get uppgraded rom it will work wery good there to.
i love the 3,5 conecter on it ican connect to anything i want
thats a shame that it doesnt work well with the TyTN, have you enabled the A2DP tweaks at all??
i have the blueant one ..even goes thru walls, etc...
It WORKS PERFECTLY with the tytn ... and it comes with a 3.5mm transmitter too (great for connecting to the home stereo, etc)
I have the TYTN A2DP hack and it sounds perfect ... highly recommend the blueant
the x3 blueant doesnt have the AVRCP buttons if the webpage tells me correctly...im after something with A2DP and AVRCP such as the jabra BT320s or the HTC S100 when its released

I also have the Jabra BT-320s and used it with my TyTN (Hermes). When using it as hands-free headset, my problem was that the volume settings of the phone switched each time I connected/disconnected the headset between sounds on / sounds off. Sometimes it even switched to sound on but with volume set to lowest level (=off). I can also confirm the problems when listening to music - the connection breaks up sometimes.
Did anyone experience similar problems? I donĀ“t have those problems with my Jabra BT205.
Lumi74
I have found my Jabara BT-320s to be problematic so far on my Cingular 8525 aka Hermes.
The stereo and remote controls work ok, but sound quality is fair at best.
But I cannot get the handsfree to work. Seems to work, the stereo cuts out but the caller cannot hear me or I them.
Got the Moto S805 (DJ Headphones) and they work great.
I hope it is just a rom fix for the Hermes to get the Jabara to work but I think it is a Jabara problem and I don't think the BT-320s is upgradeable.
Good Luck,
D
I bought a Jabra bt320s to mate with a HTC P3600 (Trinity). I struggled to connect it to my PC (via Jabra a320s USB dongle) and with the Trinity.
I had a few problems with the bt320s connecting to the Trinity:
1. Mono (not stereo) sound using WMP. Found this registry hack in other threads ---> Set HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Bluetooth/A2DP/Settings/[UseJointStereo = 0] (was 1 decimal).
2. WMP stalls briefly from time to time. From the same thread:
HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Bluetooth/A2DP/Settings/[BitPool = 45] (was 30decimal).
HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Bluetooth/A2DP/Settings/[MaxSupportedBitPool = 45] (was 30 decimal).
3. When handsfree to phone, the bt320s cuts out as ix666v2 describes.
I tried a hard reset of Trinity in case there was a conflict with other software. This didn't help. I then found an undocumented way to reset the bt320s and that fixed it. It is now working well for all functions. To reset the bt320s:
a. Turn off the bt320s.
b. Connect and disconnect the bt320s to its charger 3 times leaving it on the charger for 3-5 seconds each time.
c. Delete the bt320s partnership on the PDA
d. Pair the bt320s to the PDA again.
Big thanks to all others on this forum and other forums for their help.

Anyone here using the Plantronics Pulsar or Jabra BT8010 BT Stereoheadset?

Can someone tell me how well it works with the BT stack?
I have the HT820s but I want a new pair. The batteries in my HT820s don't last very long anymore.
Thanks
I would like to know also..
I'm pretty sure I'm just gonna buy a 8010 as soon as I can find a place that sells it..

WHHHHAT!!!! You don't know about blueheadsets.com? They have it though they say it doesn't work well with the 8525. I was all set to buy it until I read that.
They've had them for close to 5 months now. They are down to 104 from 119.
Your right I did forget about them.
They said the same thing about my bt800 when I bought it but it works fine with my 8525. I think most users issues with the headset is they are not using the correct A2DP fix.
I think I'm just gonna pull the trigger mainly because with the 8010 I can store my contacts in the headset so when someone calls it will always display the callers name. Plus it has multi point which I need for my pc.

Let me know how it goes. I know the BT stack on our model is wonky so I was concerned.
love it! love it! love it! I own SX66, had to upgrade BT stack to 3900
tried, motorola HT820(?), Bluetake iPhono, Samsung SBH100, Scala500
functionalitywise none of them are even close.
HT820 - music is pretty good, earphones pretty comfortable but the plastic connector between earpieces is not comfortable when wearing jacket. as hands free it's relatively good, had troubles switching between audio and handsfree profiles while picking up phone cals
iPhono - small, light, but charge connector somehow broke and cannot turn it anymore on, music is good, handsfree sucks and almost never used
SBH100 - bigger than iPhono, but controls are better, music is good, handsfree sucks, quality sucks, after a week broke one earhandle, doesnt have USB charger, never used as handsfree
Scala 500 - just handfree, accidentally got into washing
BT8010 - great, great, great! pretty loud especially with TCPMP equalizer, handsfree best of all above, havent used anything else though, dont understand why there's no battery in detachable earpiece for longer life.
recommend to anyone

I ordered it on Friday. They had it shipped with a tracking number in 25 mins.
The reason I was concerned is because I've heard that the BT capabilties of the BT8010 is limited and doesn't work on quite a few devices. I'm hoping using WM6 will change the incompatability factor...since I don't think it has been tested against WM6. If all else fails It will still work with my laptop which is why I'm buying it in the first place.
cool
am awaiting your review with great interest xultar.
I just picked it up at verizon wireless..I'm at work though so I won't be able to try it until later tonight..
FRACKING AWESOME AS HAYLE!
OMG the sound is great on WM6 guys! OMG!!! The sound is WAY WAY WAY better than the HT820. I haven't had any skips or stutters. Right now I'm listening to my Slingbox.
I will say when the volume is higher I can here some occasional static...but it is mainly on certain voices.
Paring. Easy as pie. Did it in the dark.
Fit is o.k. I have small ears so all BT headsets fit awkward (except for the Flamingo)
The switch from right ear to left is as easy as rotating the ear loop.
I'll post a more coherant review later...right now I'm a little high on muscle relaxers. Plus I have yet to use them on a call.
But did you notice? I purchased them online on Friday and I had them by Monday and shipping was only 10 bucks. I love Blueheadsets.com people.
Well I had to flash my OS for other reasons so I didn't have much time to test really.
Pairing was pretty easy and I'll tell you now when this headset is connected ALL sounds goto the headset. Ringtones and everything so its probably a good idea to have vibrate on just in case. I turned my vibrate on notifications and everything. NOTE: If you do not like this feature the only way I know to change it is to go into the bluetooth in the phone and just uncheck 'Wireless Stereo'..
The headset also has a vibrate function which is really nice I did not know that until it started ringing and vibrating.
Voice Command 1.6 works fine and does work from the headset and initiate calls with the correct hacks installed. I was concerned that since the headset does stereo and phone that voice activation from the headset might not work and it did stop working but I figured out that you must make sure the music mode is turned off before you click to make a phone call. You ONLY need to worry about doing that if you want to activate VC from the headset and its very simple you just click on the mode button on the headset.
I haven't had a lot of time to test out phone calls but people don't have any problems hearing me. I think the incoming volume is kinda low and that may be just me but I would like it a bit louder but its acceptable.
The controls are very easy to use even with the headset on your ear..
It fits pretty well also and is pretty light. I love the fact that the ear hook comes off and at first it was hurting the back of my ear and while I was messing with the ear loop I noticed that you can actually adjust the ear loop shape its self. Very nice and after I adjusted it, it fits very well.
As with my Jabra BT800 it has a display on the front and its sooo much better then my old one. The display is very easy to read and I love the phonebook software. You can only store like 25 contacts in the headset phonebook but what I like about that is I can place the people that call me the most in the phonebook and when they call their name actually shows up on the display instead of the number.
Now for the music portion..
Without any hacks there is no skipping or stuttering what so ever. The sound wasn't that great so I launched HTCTweak and set the audio to excellent and it still didn't sound as good as I expected. So I went ahead and verified the settings below
[HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Bluetooth/A2DP/Settings]
Value name=BitPool; Value data=52 (Decimal)
Value name=MaxSupportedBitPool; Value data=52 (Decimal)
Modify, Value name=UseJointStereo; Value data=0 (Decimal, Originally 1)

After turning the phone on and off the sound is freakin damn good. I'm not sure how good the sound is suppose to be but its good enough for me and the stereo headset works great. I did NOT apply slueths ad2p fix because that seems more for skipping problems and so far it has never skipped..
While listening to music I called myself and BAM the music paused and it started ringing in my headset. I answered the call and it worked fine. Once I ended the call BAM the music started playing again. Thats too damn cool..
Thats all I really have so far after a few hrs of testing so I'll update later on.
I forgot to mention I had Skype installed earlier and YES it does use the headset for Skype. Although I was having problems with Skype that I'm pretty sure are unrelated to the headset because I was trying a different ROM.
I'm now back on Black v2.0 but I don't have Skype installed yet to do more testing so more on that later.
For those of you that want a headset that works with VC1.6 and does stereo etc without jumping through 50 hoops so far this seems to be the headset.
I've got a Blue Ant X5 and a Motorola HT820 both paired with my device easily, both control it as it should (volume, play/pause, and on the moto: track skip forward and back). I agree listen time isn't so great with the moto, one of the reasons for going to the X5 was the removable, replaceable battery packs. Also, the X5 just sounds better than the moto unit does... however both sound awesome with this phone.
OK let's see Scale 1 to 5(best)
Pairing ease 5
Feel Quality - 3 Size - 3 Fit - 3
Look - 3
Sound - A2DP 4 On Call ???(haven't made or received call yet)
Support - Site is confusing but I actually found the place where you can download the Control Centre application. Unfortunately the BT stack apparently conflicts with a lot of devices so they may either issue a firmware update or drop it. I'd like them to release the equaliser functionality as promised.
Works with MSVC no problem as long as you have the appropriate hacks installed.
Works great with my laptop BT stack which is the main reason I'll use it until I start travelling again.
My registry settings were already 58/30/0. I updated the 30 to 52 and I'm going to test it out to see if it makes a difference. If it does I'l try 58.
Overall I'm pleased as punch with my purchase.
Well the weird problems I was having when I first got the headset must have been related to the ROM I was using before because ever since I switched back to black I have had no problems the last 2 days.
I was streaming a radio station the other day and my battery got hot. Not too hot but definatly hot and the only software I have installed right now is VC1.6 so it must be the phone no big deal.
Definatly need a extra battery if you plan on using this to listen to some tunes for awhile. I got like 3 hrs continuous play until the battery hit below 20%..
I also want to note that I am using WM6 so that may be why things work so well. I have no clue how well it works with wm5 so please keep that in mind if you want to get this headset.
I'm on Black as well and it works flawlessly for me too. I informed blueheadsets.com that the BT8010 does indeed work on the 8525 but only if the WM6 rom is in use. They may change their website warning to indicated that rather than indicating that it does not work on all 8525 devices.
Oh another thing I like about it is that you can tell the headset which device you want it to connect to. I likethat because I had a really hard problem telling the HT820 to let go of my 8525. It go to the place where I couldn't have them paired @ all. But now I think I can have my 8525 paired to my Jawbone and the BT8010 and switch back and forth between my headsets with ease thanks to the mode button on the BT8010.

One thing I've noticed is you need to make sure BT Stereo Audio is set in the control panel - sounds - 2nd tab. I set my to BT HQ Audio as default because basically that's all I use now-a-days.

Ahhh thats probably it then..I'll try after work tonight thanks..
Well it will connect to my computer after using the stereo setting in sounds like you suggested but unfortunatly the sound skips and cuts out etc.
I know it has to do with the dongle since it streams stereo fine with my phone. I have a 2.0 version dongle but its no biggie it works great with my phone so I'll just wait to see if a firmware fixes it or get another dongle someday..

Problem with Sony DR-BT20NX

Hi,
Today I finally got my Sony DR-BT20NX stereo bluetooth headset, but the joy wouldn't last for long. I have paired it and played music with awesome sound quality. However, as soon as I put the phone in my pocket or even just behind my back the sound drops and doesn't resume until I bring the phone back up front. It's just ridiculous. I also have a pair of Plantronics 590A and with them I can easily go into another room without the music dropping. Is their something wrong with it or is there a problem with this headset and the Tytn?
I have the a swedish Tytn with the 1.18 rom.
Edit: Btw, sleuths fix did nothing to help this problem.

I think it is the same on the SONY HBH-DS970, the BT part needs a pretty clear line of "sight" to the Tytn to play without interuptions. It will defenetly not work with receiver in fron of me and phone behind my back.
I t will work with the phone in my front trouser pocket, but can get interupted if the arm is in the way to long.
Interesting to hear that the range seem to be so much better with the Plantronics 590.
What experience does others have with their BT stereo hedsets?
It did not even work with the phone in my front pocket which pretty much renders it useless. Fortunately webhallen.com agreed for me to return it.
My Plantronics headset works superbly and I can actually go into another room still with crisp sound and no interruptions. Since those have worked so well for me I'm considering giving the Plantronics Pulsar 260 a try, although I like the looks of the Sony headset better. Seems to be more cable on the Pulsar 260. You can clip it to your belt and the cables reaches your ears, which I think defeats their purpose.
Can you please tell us which ROM/Radio/Ext_rom etc... you are using??
All but the most current WM6 ROMs have problems playing A2DP you see.
I am using the standard rom, mostly because people have reported better a2dp sound than with the updates. I need the swedish keyboard so I don't have that many choices. However, since my Plantronic 590A have worked so well and with good sound and distance I do not think that the rom is to blame. Also I have not had any sound dropping every 40-50 seconds which many users are reporting. Probably because I have a task manager or setup that works like Sleuths a2dp fix. Also, I tried the Sonys with my Qtek 9100 with the same results.
My setup:
Rom: 1.18.263.2
Radio: 1.07.01.10
ExtRom: 1.18.263.104

Having been on this forum for nearly a year and had a TyTN I can almost guarantee that the ROM is the culprit sir. Like I said before ALL but the latest WM6 ROMs have issues with A2DP...im running Black Shadow and A2DP is almost perfect, streaming to several different devices works no problem.

I don't think it has changed the range? Sounds good but still needs a clear line of sight between my Tytn and HBH-DS970.
Using Shadow now and LVSW latest before.
Thats not the kind of performance I (and alot of others) get. Do you have anything else you could test this with?? Like a friends A2DP headset??
My TyTN was in my bag in the boot of the car and was streaming nicely to the car stereo, changing track via the AVRCP function.

Jompao: How is the a2dp quality with Black shadow and do you get the swedish characters on the keyboard with that rom?
I haven't upgraded simply because I haven't had any problems whatsoever with my rom. All the applications I use work like a charm and the a2dp quality was above all my expectations. Than again, I used to use a Qtek 9100 (still own it) and the a2dp quality sucked.
