[Q] Webtop App for PCs

Hi all,
So I'm curious is there is a program that will work as a webtop for my Atrix. I have a Windows 7 PC and don't want to spring for the webtop hardware, but would love to be able to plug my phone into my laptop and use it like the webtop. Does such a thing exist? I've been through the webtop search results and haven't seen anything like it.
Thanks!
The webtop hardware is just a keyboard and monitor that you plug into your phone to make it look like a laptop. It runs Firefox off your phone so you can get the "full" web experience without lugging around a full sized laptop. So no, its not a software thing you can do. And why would you? if you have a laptop right there use that to browse the web.

True, but the phone features on the computer are kind of handy. It may not be the most practical thing to have, but if its out there, that would be nifty!
+1 for first response though

the entire webtop OS is contained within your phone. the only way to enable it is to connect an external HDMI display to it, and no, your laptop is not an external HDMI display. you MUST use a monitor, TV or other device made to display HDMI input signals.

But dont know If it works. Other than that, with our USB cable is possible? Maybe using some DVD player or multimedia HDD?
Thankks!
Guess the cable in the link is the only possible way.

Has anyone bought the wire to check if it works ? If yes can u post a youtube video ?
Wouldn't it need some special hardware on the phone for video-out?!

hdmi out

hi guys,
after abit of help. i bought a hdmi adaptor, from amazon this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B007K8NNOA/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00
so that i would be able to play content from my phone straight through to my tv. I also bought a new hdmi lead and i connected using the phone charger and lead that came with the phone.
When i plug it all together it shows on the phone that hdmi out is connected and i can display video or photos on the external device. But no matter what i do i cannot get a picture to display on the tv.
Am i doing something wrong? Or does it never work? I tried rebooting the phone i tested the hdmi lead to make sure it works. Is there another option on the phone i need to select to i need to use a different app?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Are you on the stock rom/kernel? I can't say I use this feature as much as I thought I would, but I have noticed some kernels break this feature (though I can't say which ones anymore - been a while) and I've seen some roms break this as well. I don't know if this was a placebo or what, but I also noticed that it broke for me after removing some of Sprint's or HTC's bloatware... I think it was the transfer app, but it doesn't make much sense to me why.
I'd try it on a full stock rom/kernel first to make sure it's not software related. Then try it on multiple TVs. I actually had an experience once where it wouldn't display on my TV, but worked fine on my HDMI enabled pc monitor - same symptoms you're describing. Tried different kernel, all was better. But I've also read about people just having a bad mhl adapter or bad hdmi cable too.
As above it needs to be supported by rom and kernal. Try a stock configuration and see what happens. If that fails it might be a faulty adaptor, these cheap ones are known to fail easily.
i appreciate your guys help. i am on stock rom/kernal. my tv is pretty new. The phone is showing as having a hdmi connection so wasn't sure if it could still be the adaptor? i will try it on another tv at the weekend. if it still doesn't work maybe send the adaptor back?
so it should display whilst playing a film through the stock video player? i dont need to use a special programme or anything else?
It automatically displays whatever is on the phone's screen. No need for anything special beyond plugging it in. It could still be a faulty adapter even though the phone shows hdmi.
Another idea might be to double check your tv out settings on the phone. Make sure those are correct.

Maybe just maybe, have it all plugged in before turning it on, then try.

I can't remember exactly. It's in the phone settings. I'm on the ice cream sandwich leak so I think it's a little different.

You have to have it plugged into the wall outlet as well. Just a thought
just an update guys i tried it on an oldish portable tv and it worked? so no idea why it doesn't work here at home???
still thanks for all the help.

[Q] [Request/Questions] Screenrecording

Hello everybody,
firstly i wanted to say that i'm very new to this forum, and also my english is not so good (or how we say here in germany: my english is not the yellow from the egg ^^).
So, whats the Problem?
How you can read in the title i'm searching for something, to record a screen. BUT: yeah, of course there are 1000s of tutorials on the net how to record with quite a good framerate, and why do i create this thread when i know that it's already around in the net? Because that's not what i'm searching for. I do not want to record my android screen, but my pc monitor. And because if you use fraps, the video get's really big and you need much more resources to record in good quality, i thought that maybe the smartphone could record what happens on the pc.
How could it work?
Well the first thing i thought of whas the mini-usb to hdmi cable that lays around here anywhere. So maybe you could simply use the hdmi output of the pc and turn the monitor mode this way, that you have the same picture on both "monitors" and the android phone just records what comes out of the cable (in easy, non professional words)
Otherwise i would think of something with the usb cable, for this there must be something installed on the pc of course.
So the first thing i'd like to know from you is that you think if it's possible and of course how it could works.
phone data:
sgs2 i9100
Jellybam 5.2.0
Dorimanx kernel v7.2.9
rooted of course ;D
greetings and thanks in advance.
so there's noone who has any experiences in this topic?
