unable to find device driver - iPAQ rw6828, XDA Atom Software Upgrading

Hi Guys,
I have an O2 ATOM Exec which was fine initially. I bought a new notebook with Windows VISTA and now I'm having troubling syncing. I have downloaded the latest Windows Mobile Device Centre and notebook is fully up to date. When I attach the USB cable windows finds the new device. I ask it to search for the driver but it cant find the device driver.
Can somebody please help me?
Thanks heaps from now.

Hi again,
Can someone please help me. Do I need to download a device driver? the OS cant seem to recognise the device. It says unable to find device driver for Windows CE USB Device.
I would really appreciate if someone can point me to the right direction.

I have the same problem. Who knows please tell me. thank

Have you all try calling Microsoft or O2?

Goto http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/default.mspx
Select the following according to you OS.
Synchronize with your PC
•For Windows XP or earlier:
Download ActiveSync 4.5
•For Windows Vista:
Visit the Windows Mobile Device Center

>_> I think your only recourse is to VM WinXP and Async from there (I don't know if this is possible, but you can try). IIRC Vista has problems syncing to older devices. <_<

Newbie - Driver and getting started

Hi,
I am sure these questions have been asked a thousand times but I have searched for the last 30mins through the boards and cant find any.
I have been given an XDA which is locked to O2, I have a cradle with a USB connection. The software CD however is broken. I have plugged in the USB and allowed Windows to search for a driver for the new hardware (I have XP home) which it doesnt do. I have searched to download the software which is on the CD but I cant find any. Could anyone please advise me what my first steps are?? The XDA is on fine I just cant connect it to my laptop.
I have seen manyu ask about unlocking so Ill follow those examples.
Hope someone can help really want to get this XDA working.
You need to install Activesync...use google, or check the main pocket pc pages, 3.8 is released a few days ago.
No drivers are needed!
just download MS ActiveSync 3.8 from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...21-8a85-45a2-8d13-653beb6cdddc&DisplayLang=en
Enjoy
Thanks for the help.
This may sound stupid but I have downloaded activesync and run the .exe file it copies the files then does nothing. It doesnt provide me with an application to start.
Anyone had the same problem?
It should appear on your programs menu on the desktop, try plugging in your xda to the usb and firing up activesync on the xda if it doesnt start automatically.
It shall ask you to connect your device to the cradle..
After installation, put your device in the cradle, and wait till the USB port detects the device...
You shall see the ActiveSync window after that. If not, then check your USB ports.
What version of Windows you have? WinXP?
I have Windows XP home.
Ok ill talk you through the steps I have done.
1. I downloaded activesync and ran it. Copied files but didnt produce an application.
2. Put XDA in the cradle and connected to my laptop through USB. Windows detects new hardware.
3. I have tried for Windows to look for the software but then it doesnt find anything.
I have also tried to open up active sync on the XDA whilst it is connected to my laptop, activesync opens fine on the xda but it doesnt fire anything up on the laptop.
ActiveSync 3.8 System Requirements:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/downloads/as-sysreq38.mspx
I don't think its a problem in your Windows!
try to install ActiveSync 3.7.1 from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/downloads/activesync37.mspx
If it didn't work, then double check the cradle's USB cable, maybe its not well connected to the PC or maybe its defected!
Otherwise, ActiveSync shall work like a charm!
Tried that too. Thanks for the help though.
I think its something to do with my operating system as the older version of activesync also doesnt provide an application to open.
delete the unrecognized PDA from the device manager, then plug it in again.
I've got ActiveSync 3.8 and I'm XP Pro SP2. XP does not see the XDA in the cradle. I've tried everything I can think of. Are you sure no driver is required? I read in the O2 help that you can plug the cradle into a hub but I've got a brand new motherboard that has several ports. I've tried all the ports but XP never sees the device.
Hi, in response to the questions above have you gotten the ActiveSync to open up at all? Also, when you plug in the cradle does Windows acknowledge the cradle connection or not?
Firewall ...
I had a similar problem and had a firewall running (not the Windows XP one). ActiveSync needs to connect to the PC through 127.0.0.1. If the firewall blocks that it can't see the device. It opens fine, says it's connected (in this case) but the phone registers no connection .... might be something to look at.

Win xp x64 : WM 5.0 - will it work?

hello my friends,
i'm thinking about upgrading my desktop OS from Win Xp Pro (sp2) to the latest Win Xp x64 edition.
but i'm afraid that with my new WM 5.0 & ActiveSync 4 won't work in that new OS. hv anyone tried to sync himalaya with Win Xp x64?
another question is about the radio version for WM 5.0. i hv radio 1.08 installed with ROM 1.50g.00WWE and i have no problem whatsoever. my question is what's the different between the radio version. (1.08 / 1.10 / 1.18 / 1.17). sorry if this matter have been discuss before. i can't find the thread.
pls reply. thx a lot
so guys, what do u think?. Buzz, maybe u could give your technical point of view? will it only work on sp2?
that shouldnt be a problem because Windows x64 is also compatible with 32bits program.
From a programmers point of view there should be a problem.
But who knows... its MS.
I would take the chance and try.
my real concern is about the drivers. i heard some people using Win Xp x64 got compatibility problem with some of the software such as the iTunes & Creative Media Source.
maybe the best way is to wait for another month or so for the manufacturers to release the latest & optimised drivers for Win Xp x64.
why dont call MS and ask. they have tech-support for things like that.
pdas dont use drivers to connect to windows it's all handled by
activesync so if activesync works on 64bit xp then any wm5 should sync
u'huh! so what i should do now is just ask someone who is using Win Xp x64 edition to see whether ActiveSync 4 work or not on that OS.
thx.
it works
active sync works on a X64 system without any problems. I am regularly using my Imate JJ with X64. Only problem i have is that I dont have 64 bit drivers for the USB modem.
it works,I tried it once with my blueangel, but one problem that I had was the inability to browse my device in explorer (cant see my documents on the device), but I think I was still using a beta version of async that time, (not sure), but you can 100% synchronize with outlook and other stuff

cd that came with t-mobile mda...htc wizard

im wondering if any1 has the cd that came with the t-mobile mda....the cd with the drivers and the activesync...if any1 has it please post it...in iso form...or just all the stuff that is on it...
CDs are generally useless IMO, I would recommend going to the Microsoft website to get the latest version of Activesync and your provider to download any official updates for your device.
Of course you wouldn't be here if you weren't interested in cooked ROMs.
well let me explain my problem...i have windows vista and cant update because it isnt compatible but i got a virtual pc and it sayes that i should use the cd...to get the drivers for the t-mobile mda...cuz i already have the activesync...buti need that installed...

Click to collapse
Get ActiveSync direct from Microsoft. It will install the USB drivers needed to sync with all supported PDAs and SmartPhones. You don't need anything else... besides Outlook to sync the contacts, etc.
ok ty ill retry
vista's activesync is build it, dont worry about it, it should just automatically install the nessesary stuff
mda cd tmobile
..i found it....may be a little late...still interested
