Atom Life Battery Problems - iPAQ rw6828, XDA Atom Software Upgrading

I have been using Atom Life for a month now.
It is giving me very bad time on Battery.
The standy-time is max 7-8 hours.
Whats more problematic is the fact that phone goes off, when battery goes below 40%. Sometimes at 20%. No fixed trend.
Is anyone facing similar problem.
Any suggestions.

try after changing CPU profile

I did have this problem, but I fix it with the new battery, right now, my life can using for two days. I purchase the new bettery from ebay. and all the problem have been fixed. the battery come with the phone only can stand for 6-7 hours and crashed the system when battery level below 50%. you should buy the new battery.

Hi, what kind of battery did you buy, the XP-09 model? or what.
thanks

xp-02,that is what i got. try this, it work for me.

thanks a lot; my atom crashes sometimes when i received a call and the battery is around 40%. With the XP-02 not occurs then?.
Thanks

yes, it haven't crash since I replace the new battery.

Hi Keywong .i just received my xp-02 from ebay, but my atom life couldn,t charge it more than 50%, change into green light when reach around 50 % of charge. I tried change the batteries but the problems still remains, it happens to you too?

Hi,
You can try soft reset and re-charge again. This happen when I change a battery from O2 (still XP-09). 1st time charge no problem, 2nd time charge, stay at 62% and ture green light. Try on/off charger still the same, soft reset to solve the problem.
Previous battery alway give me problem after a month or so, auto off after the level fall below certain level. Have to change it from service centre again. FYI this is my 3rd set of Atom Life and 4th battery.
Notice that XP-02 (from ebay picture) in made in taiwan and XP-09 in made in China.

Notice from ebay.
Atom Life battery XP-02 is made in Taiwan, and the battery from O2 XP-09 is made in China.

thank you for the answers. I tried doing soft and hard reset, change the battery new for the old one, but the problem still remains. Then i´m gonna send the battery to UK for the garanty...
i´ll tell you

O2 Life Battery Problem
I've got problem with my O2 life first. It restart itself when the battery drop below 35% and couldn't be turn on unless i charge it a bit.
To solve the problem simply change the CPU setting to best power and it works with me. No need to replace the battery because the problem not with the battery but with the high Processor in O2 life.

i have problem.. if my pda overhead.. can not charge. why? normal?

Hi,
I have the same problem with the battery. The problem REDUCES when I switch the CPU profile to 'Best Power' (as written by Alkaizer). But by switching the profile to 'Best Power', the CPU runs at 206Mhz instead of 624Mhz. With 'Auto' you're somewhere in between, appr. 400Mhz.
Obviously the Atom now works alot slower.
I've contacted Expansys where I bought it, and it depends on the "situation" whether it will be repaired or swapped right away.
Can someone please confirm that the problem does NOT occur with the XP-02 battery and using 'Best Performance' as CPU profile? If this the case I can ask Expansys to just swap the battery.
Thanks in advance,
Bart

battery problems

hello all.
my tg01 has some problems:
1) after a full charge the battery goes to 10% in about 20-30 min of 3g opera, is this normal?
2)after a full charge the battery goes to 10% after one day of 3-4 phone calls 5-10 min each, is this also normal ?
I bought the device 6 months ago and i didn't use it for about 3 months( didn't charge it).
Is there any way to fix this problem , can i format the battery or anything else?
( i use one of the latest of miro roms based on win 6.1 with spb shell and a hero-like theme with about 75 megabite of free ram .)

Basically, the system the TG01 uses to measure battery charge is very inaccurate, one reason is that it is not measured correctly, to demonstrate this restart your phone, and guess what, you magically have a extra 10-20% battery remaining, but even that is inaccurate as it will probably drop off very quickly back to where it was before you restarted!
And in answer to battery life, well this is the big achiles' heel of the TG01, battery life is poor, its fine if you are not far from a power point or car chatger all day. This is simply a symptom of poor design, the device was designed to be the slimmest mobile phone in the world at the time, yet draws a lot of power when using certain functions and is equipped with a inadequate 1000mah battery capacity.
You cannot format a battery, but you can buy another one!
I bought a second official battery on ebay to solve this problem to a point.
Buy a Mugen-Power 1300mah battery or opt for the extended 2600mah or 3900mah batteries and you will have very good battery life, but a very chunky 1" thick TG01.
tenks for the answers. WHAT will be the improvement with a mugen 1300 mh? does anyone have it already ?

Literally a 30% increase in battery life over the stock 1000mah battery.
Here a video of how Mugen 2600 and 3900 looks....

In my opinion, the 2600 size can still be acceptable. The 3900 looks horrible..as a brick...

[Q] Performance Issues of Battery (BST-38) on Xperia X10 mini pro (U20i)

This is a topic I started on Xperia Support Forums: http :// talk . sonymobile . com/t5/Xperia-X10-mini-pro/Performance-Issues-of-Battery-BST-38-on-Xperia-X10-mini-pro-U20i/m-p/402537
My Battery BST-38 is discharged so fast that I cannot even tap OK button on "Battery Power Status 15%, 10%, 5%" messages.
I have managed to open Service → Service tests menu and applied Battery Test. After some hours spent on battery test:
Result
REDUCED CAPACITY
I have stock software and hardware. Only some apps installed from Android Market. Nothing flashed, nothing rooted, nothing hacked. Maybe some cracked apps (for trial, for sure  )
Nothing modified.
And my battery died after 10 months. All I have been doing to my U20i is daily recharging for sure.
So, the question is:
How can I get my batterie's health, fitness, performance back?
Or you can recommend other things, you are the pro.
(PS: I'm living in Türkiye.)
Peace and love.
Just remember- never discharge device completly
Charge it with the wall-charger only, NOT through usb.
Make it charge for about 3.5 hours every time, even when it says it's full.
Recharge it when it's somewhere between 15 and 20 percent left.
If you don't see improvements this way, you may need a new battery.
I should say thanks to you.
Now I just need one more question to be answered:
When I am going to buy new battery, how should I prefer it to get best strength / stamina / durability / performance? What kind of battery should I choose in manufacturer , #value of mAh, #value of Wh, etc. categories?
Note: Stock U20i battery says
Battery - BST-38
Li-Polymer - 3.7V
Type CBA - 0002018B GB/T 18287 - 2000 4.2V
970 mAh 3.6Wh

Thank you, sir. I checked your link to the topic but I've found nothing for me to buy/get in where I live.
So I have another Sony Ericsson BST-38 bought.
This one says:
Sony Ericsson
Battery - BST-38
Li-Polymer 3.6V
Type CBA-0002008
930mAh
Made in China.
This is from OEM, but mAh capacity is less. I will test it and post results as I can in some hours.

again. I think lower mAh value is the reason but yet I'm not sure and I don't know.

Did you wipe the battery stats, so it tests with a clean slate? You can try that on your old and on your new battery.

Sorry I couldn't understand what exactly you meant, so I'm giving lots of answers:
Test results are being saved as */LOG files on SDCard with date informations without any need to overwrite.
On the phone, no hardware (including battery and inner-case) or software is modified after factory.
I have tested ex and newer batteries and ex one took 1,5 - 2 hours to test but new one took more than 3,5 hours. Then I got the same "Reduced Capacity" results for the tests on each battery.

You can wipe the battery history using for example: THIS app.
It will completely erase everything android thinks it knows about your battery, resulting in it treating your battery like new. It may change the opinion android has of your battery and thus give you a more reliable estimate, instead of working with, (what may be), old or invalid data.

Thank you for the trick, sir. I will try it.
I would like to inform you about new battery:
Altough new battery failed at the test (Battery Test in Service menu), it does just fine without anything abnormal.
I fully recharged it 18 hours ago, and since that I'm using my U20i as a casual user, my battery's status is 48% now. (in 18 hours: with mobile data traffic on, texting for ~1 hour, calling for 20 minutes, web browsing for 30 minutes, background services off and brightness full.) I think that performance is just good but I have no idea battery failed at test (as you mentioned, maybe test results needs to be wiped) OR just maybe it has less mAh (930mAh) than stock one (970mAh).
So I will find out what causes this.
Now I have one new question: How should I use my battery? I will charge it when it reaches 20%~15%, while recharging I will try to use not it as possible as I can. Any more tips or tricks?

48% left after 18 hours with the usage you specified is not bad at all.
You can use it when it's charging, that's not a problem, but try to charge it through the wall-charger as much as possible, and not through usb.

The wall-charger will deliver more juice than the phone needs when you use it, so it's not really discharging, just charging slower. That said, if you don't need to it's better to just let it charge.
As far as battery health is concerned, just don't let it go below 10%, emptying it completely is not good for this type of battery. There's not much else to it.

You can install some battery saving apps such as Du Battery Saver, Battery Doctor, Juice Defender etc. It may help you to stop the drain of your battery.
Hit THANKS If It Helped You
I don't think that will help, since my battery is not draining fast in general, but only when I reach about 40%. So something must be using a lot of the battery but I don't know what.
Old Problem
Its an old prblm with android. Android is power hungry. I think theres a prblm in your battery.
Same Problem.
Hey, i got a Jiayu G4 Advanced, also having the Problem you described.
For me this happens when the battery reaches 30%. After that it'll go down to 15% in minutes, and from there on it becomes normal again.
It's not caused by powerhungry apps, because when it's over 30%/under 15% it drains normally.
I already used a battery calibration app and also fully discharged the battery - both didn't fix it.
I assume that it's software relate, maybe a bug in the ROM? I'm too lazy to try other roms right now, maybe i'm going to give those MIUI roms a shot later this week.
Just to say that I have exactly the same problem with my recently bought Jiayu G4T. The battery usually takes somewhere from half a day to 1 day to drop 20%. However, between 30 and 40% it starts dropping with a speed that's even greater than playing a game while using all 4 cores for some other power hungry tasks. From 35 to 15%, which is 20%, it drops in like half an hour (and not half a day or 1 day). And then, from 15% to 0%, it again takes something like half a day.

As already said, calibration does NOT help. IMO it's seriously the ROM's fault, here's why.
JIAYU has 2 memory versions : 1/4 and 2/32. (RAM/ROM) , and most ROMs are prepared either for 1/4 (1850 mAh) or 2/32 (3000mAh) .
You probably have 1/4 3000 mAh version, and to make battery work find specific ROM.
Hey,
Now i start to think diffrently. Maybe it's hardware issue.
There are 2 types of battery: li-pol and li-ion. Please post what your battery is if you having this drain issue.
Compare to photos in attachment.
I'm having this issue and have li-pol battery.

[Q] Phone just turn off when it reaches 40%

Hi guys,
I wanted to share with you my experience on my device, perhaps some other have the same problem and has solution.
Before I was using 2000mAh battery but it bloat out so I bought a new 1650mAh battery. The problem is that it just turned off when it reaches 40% without even prompting a low batt notification. I thought I bought a defective battery so I purchased a new one again, but it has the same problem. I was using custom roms btw and flashing CM11 nightlies every day or whenever update pops. Does it affects this or should I just recalibrate the device because my old 2000mAh.
Thanks for the help in advance.

Is this a genuine battery. You could try resetting battery stats or use dorimanx kernel to reset fuel guage.

Well the first battery i bought was just a class A, the second battery I just bought a while ago is genuine and its the same result. I will try to flash stock ROM and see if it still occurs, now I just tried calibrating the battery stats.

Did you check the battery voltage level just before 40%? If I understand correclty, my guess is that the battery should range from 4.1 to 3.3volts, as it has been specified as 3.7v.
In my case, it was around 3.6 volts when close to 40%, which seems to be a reasonable voltage for 40%. But then it suddenly drops to 3.2v (which I measured with a multimeter, since the phone goes dead at around 40%). I have started to beleive the battery is the problem.

Battery voltage can be measured using apps like cpu-z and go to the battery section. Software readings are slightly less accurate than multimeter but does the job anyway. 3700mV = 3.7V (conversion of mV to V)

But i decided to go again i plugged it in ( never changed the batt) and let it charge for about 95% and turned all on again and this time i put on my simcard and memory and did all what i did except that i downloaded whats app and instagram. and also when it reached below 55% i Played some music and locked the phone (NO SCREEN LOCK USED) and after some time i checked batt was at 38% :fingers-crossed: immediately i locked it back and left it again....
Viola !!!!!!! last time i checked it was 15% low batt warning came ( haven't seen it in weeks) and then the battery drop was a bit fast and at 12% the screen got a little flicker so i plugged it in.. I think the problem is halfway solved, ill let the battery go some cycles and update soon.. also i will attach some screen shots off the battery level too and take a close look at the time and battery level after 15% on the pics
:victory:

So yesterday I plugged the device until it reached about 85% and unplugged it when I was going to sleep, and at about 8 o'clock this morning i noticed that the battery level has risen to 96% , I think that is because the phone slowly gets to know the battery level correctly.. and right now it 11.08 am and I had turned on Mobile Hotspot and Data from 8 am , battery level is 82%.
I'll update again tonight when the battery drains completely

Can you also share the SoT ? I know it depends on how a person uses the phone but still I want to have an idea. I might also try this to have a better battery life. I also once tried that exact stock rom but without even charging completely, I went on to another ROM. So I am gonna give it another try today . :good:

Phone went off at 43% and also figured that there has been a near vertical drop of battery from 40 % to 12% and thats when the device was standby,
phone goes off only when im using it?
Can a Expert please look into this matter and help me please. looks like all what I did has been useless

SoT=Screen on time. And no I don't have this problem. But I want to try the stock rom so I wanted to see what your screen on time is.

btw its charging now so ill give you a number when the battery drains completely
I have the same problem. when I reboot my device in most of cases the battry level showed is a 10/30% lower than before and also my phone shuts off showing 10% percent or less and the sreen brightness goes a bit crazy for 2 secs before it shuts off. I have the original Samsung battery but I also bought the 2000mAh extended kit but now this issue happens in both of them I've read that I have to callibrate battery so I will try this and post results
1. Turn off your phone.
2. Fully Charge.
3. When getting 100% signal, unplug quickly.
4. Pull off the battery and put it anywhere.
5. Wait for 180 seconds exactly (be careful )
6. Meanwhile, take this opportunity to dust off the internal compartment.
7. Put back the battery on the right side.
8. Turn on the phone.
9. Pray the Battery god
10. ... and voilà !

I did it and my results were this. My phone shuts off at 5%, slightly less than other times. I rebooted it once while 80% percent and remained the same. Battery lasted 2h and 40 mins with medium/high usage
I would say it fixed something for me but not a lot. Now im going to try it with the 2000mAh samsung battery
Edit1: now after another full cycle the battery lasted for more or less 3 hours with medium usage and shutted off at 8% now im going to try on my 2000mAh battery that had an 8% and it shutted of normally with the shutting off screen and without weird screen brightness tweaks

Well I think it worked for you because you had a Original Samsung Battery Right?
In SL a Original batt would only come with the phone :crying: Fakes have invaded,,
So i read some where that fakes dont have the original capacity? so if it is then it would match perfectly !
so now im in hunt of a original hopefully this is not a phone problem
No its not definetly a phone problem and it isn't a big deal to find an original samsung battery for sgs2 however the Samsung 2000 mAh battery kit its waay harder to find and the ones that I found are more expensive than when it came out
Yeah, I definitely think the problem is with your battery, so you just need to replace it.
Btw guys, what is your general Screen on Time with your standard 1650mah battery (not extended)? I'm running CM13 and I barely get 2h on a single charge, but then I read reviews from the early days of S2 and for instance here they have 4h24 browsing time (with screen at 50% brightness) or 8h video playback.
Is it all related to being a different ROM, or my battery just needs a retirement? Being a different ROM would impact so much on the Screen on Time? Also, I have auto-brightness always enabled, would that have such a significant impact?
Greetings
EDIT: Since I generally use the phone indoors I don't think that would be the difference in such a different Screen on Time

With 1650 mAh and on CM13 nightlies, my best so far is 2h and 28 mins with brightness at between %0 and %25 and only wifi is on.
That 4 hour SoT is probably on gingerbread though.

Being gingerbread would make so much of a difference? It's like twice as much SoT...
Thanks anyways

Never used SGS2 on gingerbread but it is possible I think. I remember reading on forums that people started to get worse battery life with ICS and with JB it got even worse. So yeah probably possible.

Hi Bolshoi! I will definetly update the SOT on the stock rom after the new battery arrives! I asked one of my friends who is in Netherlands to buy and send me a batt. Regards!
