WM6 + VOIP - JAMin, XDA Neo, S200 ROM Development

I use the wm6 VOIP function to communicate via W-LAN.
Does anybody know whether it is possible to use it without headset? When calling somebody the sound just came through the loudspeaker on the backside (same as wm5 with sjphone or skype).... i hoped that it will work when VOIP functionality comes native with wm6.
All in all the VOIP quality is very good. The callee do not recognize whether i call him via PC or Prophet (instead of SJPHONE...there i had interruptions + delay)

hi mole0815,
which ROM are you using?
Linus

I use
ROM: 4.0.0.0.1 PDAViet
Radio: 02.69.21

Use ROM 4.0.0.0.2. Works fine, no headset needed.

Do you mean the sound comes from the front speaker?

I have the same issue on 4.0.0.3. Is there any known fix for this?
Also, is there any known way to keep the phone registered with the SIP server when it goes into standby mode. I would like to be able to receive calls via VoIP without having to leave the phone on all the time, wasting a huge amount of battery life. I'm connecting to the server via WiFi by the way, so that would have to stay active aswell (which it does not seem to).

same here.
I upgraded to 4.0.0.3 and no sound from the frontspeaker.... Are u sure that the sound did not come from the backside?!?!
Don't think that they will remove this feature from 4.0.0.2 to 4.0.0.3.
Any other experiences?

I have it working with 4.0.0.0.2, not upgraded to 4.0.0.0.3 yet.
Can anyone confirm that 4.0.0.0.3 OK?
I don't find the quality acceptible in all handheld VOIP conversations.

If i use the wm6 VOIP functionallity (config via sipconfig.exe in \windows) the quality will be acceptable. But the main issue is: There is a need for a headset (either bluetooth or cable).... and it seems that there is no workaround

For all people who are searching for a front speaker workaround:
There's no one!
HTC doesn't grant the access to it for the 3rd party software developers.
So you still have to use a headset or be happy with the back speaker outcoming sound

Yes, it works also with 4.0.0.3

Bugger, oh well, looks like its headset's for us then lol. Is the speaker on the front hard-wired into the phone components or something?

I need to go back to 4.0.0.0.2 to familiar its works and not-works so I can appreciate whether 4.0.0.0.3 has any improvement or just the same with different color keyboard.

I'm using the PDAVIET 4.0.0.6 ROM, and I also suffer from the problem that when using VoIP the conversation is only one-way when using a BT headset (no sound at all when using no headset). Any solution for this available yet?

Well, yes and no. I can make calls just fine (haven't tested receiving (yet)). However, even though the other side can hear me just fine, my end remains totally silent.

Thats not because of the voip software in the phone, but because of your nat setting in your router.
One way voice in voip is a common problem, and is normaly related to nat settings in the router.

It's not so simple. I've tested all the PDAVIET-Roms from 40000 to 40006 with the same VoIP setting on the same router. The versions 40000-40003 work, other have the mentioned one-side-sound problem. So the cause can't be the router only.

Sorry Redandr, but NAT is the most common problem causing on way voice.
I have worked with VoIP for almost 7 years, and I se this problem every week.
Saying this doesn't mean that it can't be somthing else. Just that its the most common problem.

NAT being the problem is a slim chance in my case. My office's wireless network is used for other wifi handsets without any problems. Even more so, there's no NAT involved at all (our asterisk pbx is on a different subnet than our wifi, but there's standard routing between them), only firewalling. I think I disabled all firewall rules at the time of the testing for my device, but I'll double check sometime next week.

Headset & Handsfree Profile: which differences?

Hello everyone,
I have tried the two reg patch by Sin () to add the Handsfree profile to my Qtek 2020 (with WM2003SE). I use the very good Bluetooth headset by Globalsat BTH-808, and I have seen these things:
- When in Headset mode: the blu BT Led on the Globalsat flash one time per second. If one call incomes, an icon on the top bar light on in my Qtek and I can use the Globalsat to answer the call, or I can transfer audio back to Qtek and use it to answer the call.
- When in Handsfree mode: the blu BT Led on the Globalsat flash three time per second (awful). An icon noticing the HF Profile is ever on the top bar (with or without a call incoming, and this is not good, i think). If one call incomes, I can use at the same time the Globalsat or the Qtek (audio comes out from the Qtek and from the Globalsat).
Where is the good useful way of this? Why do I need the Handsfree profile too? to make voice dialing (adding relative software)? I didn't liked it and I disabled back the HF profile...
Can someone explain to me how the Hadsfree profile is good?
Thank's
facts
Hands free mode is great when using the right OS.
hands free is more robust. It offers caller ID, etc.
Headset will not do caller ID but I believe it may offer better battery life.
Also with your 2.02-2.06, you will notice while in hands free that the mic on the headset does not work, only the one on the phone.. Even though you can hear sound on the headset!!
If I am wrong, please tell me.
One OS that supports Hands free is the 2.20 translated or in original Chinese. But the caller ID is not consistent on some if not all devices. The caller ID will not be displayed if you have already received the call or if it is in your contacts. It also has some bugs when someone calls on the call waiting and you switch over to it, you will loose the sound on both the headset and the phone until you turn off hands free and then back on.
The other OS, 2005, is GREAT with the Hands free and the phone program, no bugs AT ALL with bluetooth and the phone, BUT, the contacts, email and calendar database are different so it will not work with many programs and the memory size is messed up and small.
I am switching back to my 2.20 translated today.
I wish someone wuld fix it.

Hmmm, no... with my device (Qtek 2020, aka XDA II/MDA II and WM2003 SE 2.06) the CallerID works great with either Headset profile and Handfree Profile...

Yes this is real: Headset is more light for battery life cause it lets BT headset to go online only during call incoming...

According to me you are wrong, cause my device have the headset mic working in either Headset and Handfree profile. The only practic difference between the two profiles are that HS goes idle and come online only during call incoming, instead HF is online not stop.

Again... with my device all works fine, but I don't like the headset all time in waiting/online modem with its led blinking speedly and the boring icon on the top bar (so if you miss a call or receive a sms, you see the baloon tooltip to advice you that more than 1 alert are waiting). I don't know about your bugs cause I never tested these cases

Good flashing and have a nice weekend!
The difference between the two right now using WM2k3SE is:
Handsfree allows you to redial the last number using your BT headset (hold headset button for 2-3 secs).
Headset allows to use the BT headset to talk on the phone.
Other than that they don't do anything else with the current OS (at least for me)
tesking
I am using a Jabra BT800 and I have talked to people who are using Erickson HBH200 and HBH660 and one guy who is using an xLive. The people I have talked to using 2.02 or 2.06 or Sin's 2.02-2.06 merge, all said these devices are not having the caller ID working and the Hands Free would give them the stereo affect.
You are the first.
I have tried 2.02, 2.06 and the Sin's combined one. All would not display properly with the caller ID on my BT800. And even with the addition of the reg key, hkey local machine, software, Microsoft, Bluetooth, "HandsfreeProfileOn", I would get the caller ID, only if the number was not in my contacts and it was not already in my call history of the BT device.
I have also tried BT tools, I have tried every patch and tried all the widcomm stuff too.
I am very curious to know what you have for a ROM and any BT additions or patches and I am very interested to know what caller ID BT device you have.
Maybe you misunderstood what I was saying as well, please know that I was talking about caller ID being displayed upon the BT device, not the phone.
One other thing that Hands free does is allows for the possibility of BT activated voice dial. Like the the voicesignal program on my MPX300.
There has to be a hardware specific driver for each device so when you press the button, it transfers the audio and Mic to the BT headset and starts the voice recognition program. Other wise, we would have had BT voice dial on our HTC devices by now. http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=15191&start=50
ccrrazzzy
I misunderstood the BT device you're using for caller ID (I don't have such device, I was talking about the phone itself).
As far as redialing using the Headset, I am using the Motorola HS850 and I was able to use it to redial the last number. However I end up turning the Handfree off when I don't need it in order to avoid the Mic issue on the headset. When I paired the headset, I chose headset profile only. When ever I need the handfree capability, I normall go under Start/Settings/Connections/Bluetooth/Devices hold my stylus on the device (HS850) then choose "Set as Hands-free" on the pop menu.
For Crrrrraaaazzzyyy:
For Crrrrraaaazzzyyy:
Sorry for your device... I can tell you that with the Globalsat BTH-808 (see the ebay link below), it works smooth in headset Profile (1 or 2 seconds and I can answer from the headset button), and it works smooth in Handfree profile (but as I said, i don't like the behaviour): you can buy the headset from here

BT
Sorry I was not clearer at first. I was speaking about the caller ID on the BT headset or in a BT car audio system.
Hands free is needed to have features like caller ID on the BT device and voice dial and to be able to scroll through the BT device's caller ID history and make calls from that while leaving your cell phone safely tucked in your briefcase or hip case.
With my MPX300, because it supports BT voice dial through the BT headset, and with my caller ID on my Jabra BT800 BT headset, I can have all the power of my phone on my ear; being able to make calls through the caller ID history and through dialing via voice dial by speaking the phone number OR speaking the contacts name AND be able to see who is calling me, all while my cell phone-PDA is about 30 feet away!
I just wish we had this on the XDAII because I hate my MPX300; small screen and low memory make it useless.
Through the 2.20 OS, I am able to get caller ID functioning somewhat, but I have to disable call waiting. However to get BT voice dial to work, we will need someone to make a driver like the one that is in the MPX300 and use software like FONIX or www.voicesignal.com
Here is how we can make voicedial work on BT.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=19233&highlight=
XDAII-TSM500 and Jabra BT800 incompatibility ???
I cannot use neither the microphone nor the headphone of the BT800 instead of the XDAII for listennig mp3 files or recording notes.
When I use headset mode, I can speak and hear throuhg BT800 and it is possible to use the buttons to answer and hang during a phone calling, but is not possible to dial, see the caller number and other features.
When I use handsfree mode, I can get most of features but the BT800 microphone does not work and I have to use the one of the PDA.
Any way, only it is possible to use the BT800 in phone mode, not in PDA mode. However it works perfectly whit my IPAQ.
Could anybody give me any idea ?
BT
Please read everything.
Again,
With a caller ID device like the BT800, it needs Hands Free mode to work right. 2.02 and 2.06 do not do Hands Free well.
Only 2.20 and 2005 but 2005 has other bugs. In 2.20 you must disable call waiting or live with clicking upon Tools, Hands-Free Off, then Tools, Hands-Free On to resume the sound on the BT headset when you try to switch back to the first call. You will have to do this even if you ignore a call.
2005 works VERY well with BT and the phone but there are other bugs like lack of memory and database not compatible with third party programs.
I am sorry ccrrazzzy
I did not mention I have two other poblems:
One is that I am a beginner whith these machines, less than two weeks working whith them, and some concepts are confusing to me.
The other is, my short english (obvious ?) make me misunderstand things and to explain them is even worse.
I understood that all problems appear using the phone and not using the PDA for listening mp3 files, for example. When I use the BT800 whith my IPAQ 5500 (headset only) works like a wired headphones and I thought that it should work in the same way whith the XDA, forgeting the phone features.
I will try whith 2.20.
Many thanks for your answer and excuse me.
mp3 will not work unless you get http://www.bluetake.com/products/BT420EX.htm or the HP one.
While using Headset profile, in 2.02, 2.06 and 2.20, The BT800 will work but I experienced an 8 or 9 second delay before call is transfered to the headset when someone call me. Calling out is OK.
Hands free and 2.20 is only good way with BT800.
No audio on BT headset on the XDAII, no matter what OS... Like the mono audio on your other pda, it will not work on xdaii.
I am trying the xLive now, will post results. It has built in MP3 player and is BT cell phone Hands free. Only $90.
These will not make you look like you are from outer space
http://www.itechdynamic.com/html/border22.htm
Support HiFi audio, stereo but I doubt they will work on the XDAII.
You could make them work with the widcomm stack but that stack does not work with Hands Free and I forget if it works with Headset.
If this thing had caller ID and worked for sure with the XDAII, I would get it.

HELP: Michy’s R4.1 and skipping voice problems during conversation with Jabra BT 8010

Guys,
Once again I am turning to you with a problem which is driving me nuts… After several attempts (ROMs and registry settings), I simply cannot get it working. I am using Jabra BT8010 handset and I get complaints from some, but not all, people I talk to over the phone that my voice is skipping. Some fragment of the words (a letter or two) is simply missing - not heard – by my talking partner. This has also happend to me when using official or irus ROM!!
First let me say that after I installed Michy’s R4.1 ROM the things with BT has changed a bit – in positive direction. I noticed that because the Jabra connects to the phone faster then before, when phone is rebooting the BT connection sign is gone immediately, etc. This was not the case with the original ROM nor iruses ROM 0mb PP. At this point I’d would like to thank Michy for that, since the file transfer to and from Athena now works almost flawlessly as well.
Please note that I get no skipping sound in downlink direction: nor during phone call nor during streaming of music or videos - the sound quality is just great!
But the voice skipping is just frustrating. What to do? I have tried twitching several settings in registry: BitPool, MaxBitPool, Sample rate and Use Joint Stereo. But, no combination resulted in no-skipping sound. Is it Jabra? Could you suggest what to do next in order to get this working!!!
PLEASE HELP!
Uros
I don't use bluetooth headset myself, but would suggest that you try out the latest R5.1. I find R5.1 to be much better than R4.1 in the data connection, GPS, and WIFI communication, and have no problem in bluetooth file transfer. However, I recommend that you use the latest radio version 1.58.
I find my VOIP experiencing voice quality improvement as compared to R4.1 with radio 1.57.
After trying it, I'd be eager to hear if that helps.
Cheers.
eaglesteve,
Meanwhile I got my hands on Motorola HS810. Guess what: no voice skipping or distortion what so ever!! So is there something wrong with my Jabra or simply the BT or its settings are not matching to Jabra? Someone suggested to delete the Bitpool and MaxBitPool from the registry to get protocol handshake, i.e. the device negotiate for optional parameters…?
I will try R5.1 and report back.
One question though in regards to BT and file transfer since you mentioned it: the feature to make my device visible to other keeps disabling automatically. Once I set it (check) and file transfer (via moBLUe) works, but sometimes - I swear I didn't touch the settings - the file transfer (via moBLUe) does not work. When I check the feature the feature is disabled!?!?! WTF...? I am doing something wrong or...

I had the same problem with my 8010 until I went to radio 1.57 (and then 1.58, although 58 isnt as good as 57 for sound quality and the 8010). Im not using Michy but that shouldnt matter.

Using Jabra BT8040 with Athena and another cell phone,
poor performance, ocassional voice breaking and soft.
Just upgrade its firmware and monitoring.
With another simple bluetooth by Motorola H375,
no such issue, voice was clear and loud both ways.
I have tried several settings with radio 1.58 as well as 1.57 and in all cases the voice is distorted with Jabra BT8010 ;(
On the other side, using the Motorola HS810 I expirienced no problems at all at any setting i gave. Eventhough I like Jabra VERY much due to its features I will replace it...

This is my second Jabra 8010. I have experienced the same problem with both!
Yesterday, I have flashed Athena to Michy's R5.1. No change.. the voice skipping is still present ;(
I decided and will replace Jabra. I have two candidates: Nokia BH-902 or Motorola SH-7x0. As said Motorola before Motorola SH810 gives very good – no distortion – voice! Will see how the Nokia behaves. Any pros and cons for each???
Thanks guys for your help.

Yes, same effect here, I'm using the Jabra 8010 also and have sometimes the same problem. From my point of view it is a jabra problem, not a ameo / athena nor a ROM problem.
After updating on radio 1.58 I have some problems with the connection to my Pioneer carraudio Sytem (used as a handsfree set) also. So I've decided to go back to 1.50, after that I will update on michyprima and check it....
Kind regards

Hi all, I'm new to this forum, but I have learned a great deal from you guys & gals! Hail to all!
I have the same problem with my U1000 & bt8010 under Radio 1.57 & 1.5.
For me, the problem seems less noticeable if I:
1. stand / sit STILL (sigh...)
2. have more ram to the system (no big TODAY plug-ins like spbDiary)
In theory the 8010 is perfect for big dogs like the athena. (gosh i love the phonebook and the music ... even mono makes me happy ...)
Just a simple suggestion but based on what I've read on this last page with you guys changing the radio's and ROM's has anyone decided to update the Jabra BT 8010 Firmware. I've never experienced the problems you guys have it might be a last hope but why not go for it. Firmware found here:

The software is at the bottom of the page, however you will also need to install the program to you computer to actually install the firmware. Follow the directions provied on the link, and feedbacks please.

In my post #12 I claimed I had "solid connection with my blue tooth". I spoke too soon. The first time I played music on Pocket Music I got lots of skipping.
This was also a problem discussed at length last year. I did a reg search on "priority256" and found that the decimal number was 131.
I changed it to 256 and NOW I have "solid connection with my blue tooth". I have not had a single skip in 15 minutes of playing music.
OOPS - I just got a 1/2 second skip.
on my post at #6, i also spoke too soon. when i tested skype at our office (faster dsl connection), the voice is smooth, no skipping. i guess it was just an internet connection problem.

Voice dialing through bluetooth...?

Voice dialing works great on the TMo version. Not as quick as before with my previous MDA. I say dial "XXX mobile" and it responds "dial XXX mobile" and I say yes and it calls. Also works for app launches etc.

It works. But PTT function of bluetooth handsfree does not anyways.
thank you very much hecksk. it's the only software having italian TTS to read sms (useful when driving or - as it often happens to me - your hand are busy holding the work bag, jacket and so on). bluetooth ptt means that I can't use by headset to give commands, right? awful then... I hope that someone will come out with a solution soon... strange that such an important feature is missing on a businness device like this..

So if I palnning to get a " Blueant Q1 " Bluetooth headset will it work with T-mo. TP2?
Anyone using Blueant Q1 ???
I upgraded to wm 6.5 to get my bluetooth fully functional.
Does it work via Bluetooth Handsfree without pulling phone itself?

Update... HTC tech informed yes MSVC is working correctly as tested on the TP2 units they use ... the 'Dopod' reference on post above referred to the brand of Headset not the dopod pda....
So voice activation via BT headset on MSVC works on some units not on others (depends on your rom) ... his advice... activate MSVC via the TP2 until a rom update... he said check weekly to see if one happens (so must be in pipeline) He also said Microsoft was working on MSVC as it does not play 100% with new Bluetooth Stacks so expect a new version (from v1.6) some time in future ... seems unless an industrious person finds a cab fix ... the only other option now, is find a rom that works and use that (which can bring other issues)

Media audio - routing to bt headset

Hello all,
I have been using android on my hd2 for some time. There is 1 thing that I am unable to do which is frustrating.
Under winmo, I could listen to audio books via the Bluetooth headset, is this not possible on android?
Any help gratefully received.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
It is quite difficult to do it in Android at the moment. There are a few builds where this is possible, like forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=740963 (shubcraft) and forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=736545. However, these builds are not 'perfect' IMHO.
There are builds where you can listen to audio via bluetooth but if you get a call, it may reboot, like forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=769026.
There is no build I have found yet, that has Hotmail ActiveSync support, complete Bluetooth audio (to sync with Ford a2dp), no SOD and good battery life!
I can listen thru my Sony Ericsson HBH-DS headset just fine on following builds and phone calls also :
HyperDroid
Bangster's
mdeejay
...rest I do not run regularly but I suspect will work fine
Is the media-routing Problem similar to my Problem ?
I dont know if this issue is known, so i post it here in hope, that it will be fixed =)
I have in all Android apps wich had something to do with the sound-input/output problems. I had no sound there.
I tested FritzApp! ( a App wich allows you to use your Androidphone as an normal DECT/IP Phone with the Fritzbox!)
Either my communicationpartner hears my voice nor I hear him. Dialing works perfectly just the sound doesnt
And with MicDroid ( Something like LaDiDa for Iphone). ( Records just "Rauschen")
Can you confirm this kind of issue or am I the only Person, plz post your problems.
Or is this problem known ?
kind regards
malla

I would say that it is similar because even my BT system (on some builds) recognizes the phone, connects, plays music, dials calls, but there is no audio (in/out) once the call is connected. This is confusing because there is no issue in connecting as an audio device, the problem is in the phone device.

OPX Bluetooth poor performance

Hello,
I didn't find other references about this one.
I noticed a really poor and crappy performance when Bluetooth is connected to my audio car system.
I experience subsequent and short connection drops/re-connections, also during phone calls.
In addition:
- audio volume is very low, also when all pumped up.
- I don't get recent inbound and outbound calls and contacts lists sharing.
It's a pity. Other devices work flawlessly, even some old (non smartphone) GSM devices.
Is anyone experiencing something similar?
Thanks for any info.

That's strange, I have BT constantly on as I have the phone paired with a Sony Smartwatch 3, plus I exclusively use my Jabra BT headset during my long commute for music, videos and calls and never had a single problem with the volume level, connection and sound quality.
I had the same problems you have with a damn expensive HTC M9.....
Yeah, that's strange, I suspect the audio system it's just choosy... It's likely that the phone will work OK if I try some other BT device.
I'll do it when possible.
This was just to check if someone else had the same issue.
Thanks!
Yes, I did notice the relatively low volume when I connected the phone to my Vw stereo in my car.
1. Low volume for both music and voice calls compared to my previous phone (ip5c)
2. Also the phone has a problem with avrcp profile, so it cannot display the song name/metadata on the stereo screen !
Connects to car ok but doesnt load the contacts.
ive just discovered this problem also it connects to my sony car system fine but will not load the contacts unlike my sony z1 compact.

Seriously Operational Problems OPX
OPX BLUETOOTH. There is recognition problem many devices and components.
OPX DUAL SIM, DUAL STAND BY 4G? Not applicable. When you run out of card data is committed as required by the company, another card is not using the data only telephone contact

I have the same problem in my car (Kia Ceed GT). Nothing helps. I'm waiting for some custom ROMs, I don't believe that Oxygen will ever fix all bugs.

This app seems to fix all issues:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.android_rsap.irmctest
It's the trial.
There's the paid version too.
Disclaimer: it's not mine, I had the link from a twitter user
I have the same problems in my Skoda Octavia 2015 (no ID3 tags, not possible to change track by the steering wheel buttons, sometimes stuttering, quite poor audio quality when calling). The Honor 7 works perfect with the Skoda, the iPhone from my girlfriend as well.
But I connected the OPX to a Renault and there it worked faultless.
So I don't know where's the problem... maybe the OPX doesn't support all AVRCP versions?
In my Kia AVRCP works with PowerAmp and Deezer. But I still have the same problem with contacts and calls list.

I've the same problem of dropping calls when connect with my car (Opel Ampera).
Did pair the Plus X several times but problem not solved.
Hello guys,
any problem with bluetooth headphones? I wanted to buy one (for running). May I expect the same glitches as with the car connection?
Thanks.
