or it could be your carrier settings... make sure that your phone isnt on a setting with a proxy server, you might need to change it to "My Isp" before connecting to WIFI

Custel has made this pretty easy. He has two cabs located in the windows directory, one that disables the proxy, and one that restores it. You need to run the one that disables it.
In case you cannot find these actual files, go back to Custel's thread, and check, I believe, the 2nd post. He offers a cab to install links for each of them in the programs directory.
Hope this helps. I run his ROM and have no problem at all with my wifi.
Good luck,

Any chance of sending me the file ?
Just tried it and it again and it worked. I would be happy to send it if needed, do you have an email that can handle 5.5mb attachments?
Yes please please mail it to [email protected]
Many Many thanks
I tried this on my XDA II with the 2.06 2003SE ROM and found a problem - could someone else let me know if they have the same problem...
After installing I reset my device. After the reset, I found that I couldn't select any of my other input panels other than the default Block/Letter recognisers or the built in keyboard. IntelliPad (Phone Pad) and MessageEase were in the list but when I selected them it just switched to the default keyboard.
Can anyone help?
I've found the same problem with Intellidialler but finally managed to get Calligrapher working and never drew the connection with voice command. On top of that, there was an error the first time I tried the 1.5 upgrade setup and now if I try setting up 1.5 again it states that "No previous version of Microsoft Voice COmmand US PPC 1.50 was not found on this machine. The setup cannot continue" (yes you read the double negative right it's not a typo) I've tried uninstalling 1.0 and 1.5 and reinstalling to no avail. If anyone has an idea about either of these problems please share...
Hey pole_vaulter1,
I had exactly the same problem (No previous version etc).
It can be solved by copying the .cab file in c:\program files\microsoft voice command\ onto your xda\imate\mda and running the cab file from there.
Hope this helps.
Craig.
Craig,
Thanks a bunch - worked perfectly. I really should have thought of that myself but I suppose that's what a forum is for. Now if I could only get my Tengo and Intellipad to show up instead of the keyboard it would be perfect (until the next upgrade, tweak, software, etc.)
THANKS,
Travis
Craig,
in my case the installer does not create the \program files\microsoft voice command\ directory. Can I extract the cab file from the msi?
G'day Eddy,
I'm assuming you have 1.0 or 1.1 installed on your ppc.
Do you install files to another location? The file that went into the directory I mentioned is ... "Microsoft Voice Command.PPC420_StrongARM.CAB". You might be able to search your pc for that file?
As for extracting the cab from the msi - no idea sorry
Hope you find it.
Craig.
Craig,
no, I did not have version 1.0 nor 1.1. I got the impression that you installed without a previous version.
G'day Eddy,
No, I had the exact same problem as Travis a couple of posts up where I installed the upgrade, it gave me an error at the end of the setup on my ppc saying I already had voice command already installed (even though you had to have it installed for the upgrade to work) so I uninstalled it on my ppc - soft booted it to make sure it wasn't still resident, tried to re-install it and it gave another error saying that I didn't have the necessary software installed (version 1).
I'm not sure if you can buy version 1 of the software anywhere anymore but from other posts, apparantly handango will only let you buy it if you are a US or Canada resident.
Sorry for the bad news for you.
Craig.
Cab file MSVC 1.50
I found the cab file. Just copy it to you're device.
Dutchie,
could you mail this cab file to me or did you extract from the msi file?
@Dutchie - do you have any problems with any of your SIP's?
The second I install it from the CAB file I'm unable to select either IntelliPad or MessageEase for my input methods.
If yours is working then I'm wondering what I've done wrong!
No Wifi or Wordlogic after MSVC :-(
SH..... no WIFI or Wordlogic after I installed 1.5. I uninstalled it, and they work again. Anyone having the same problem with Voice command??? :?:
Does 1.0 the same??
I had quite a few problems after installing Voice Command 1.5. MS Reader would not run (out of memory error) and Calligrapher would not work either (still apeared in the bottom right) but only keyboard would load when Calligrapher chosen.
If I disabled Voice Command 1.5 (as opposed to removing it) everything was fin again.
From another forum I found that the problems I was experienceing was related to plugins in the Today screen (I had the Sprite monitor programming running). When this was removed, Calligrapher kicked back into life and Voice Command 1.5 worked fine.
MS Reader still gave the same out of memory error, but I found that if I added a shortcut in the Startup directory for MS Reader and made sure it loaded first then it would work fine after that.
Hope this helps
Mike

Interestingly, I have a similar problem, but I haven't touched MS Voice Command. I've had to make Intellipad my default input method, even though I use Fitaly more often. Once I change from Intellipad to anything else, I can't go back to Intellipad, or anything else, for that matter...

New SoftBank Open Access Point Password Problem Workaround - Not Working!

i think most of you x01ht users in japan are aware that softbank issued a new rom update that has the new open.softbank.ne.jp password hard-coded as part of the rom image and so there's no way to extract it via extended rom or otherwise (it's not in the preconfig cabs/xmls either). they've also announced that after april 1, the old password which most of in japan are currently using will no longer work so we either upgrade to the new softbank rom or we can't access the open network.
anyway, i've been fiddling with this all night and i think i have a solution that i've tested on a couple of different roms but i'm hoping you guys can give it a try as well so that we can call this a solution to the problem. basically, i made the assumption that the password was somewhere hidden and encrypted in the registry though i had no idea where so basically all i did was do a registry dump with a clean install of the new sb rom, went into connections and deleted the softbank connection, then did another registry dump. finally, i did a compare of the before and after using windiff, figured out what changed and i ended up with the attached two reg files. one adds "SoftBank" as one of the connections (hklm.reg) and the other is the encrypted password (hkcu.reg). you need to import these using the registry plug-in that comes with resco explorer (just dl the trial) as that's what i used and it seemed to work. also, after you do the imports, MAKE SURE you power off (not reset) and then power back on. sometimes the registry settings don't stick if you simply reboot.
to really verify this works, you should first go in and delete your existing SoftBank connection in settings->connections tab->connections->manage existing connections (under internet). if you're not confident then go ahead do a backup beforehand or you can just run the sb extended rom again if you can't get it to work. i've tried this with the sb rom as well as an i-mate rom and it's working perfectly...i'll test it with a couple other tomorrow as well. if this works for you guys, i'll go ahead and make it into a cab file.
update: okay, i've gone ahead and made it into a cab so you don't have to muck around with importing reg files. so just download the cab if you want to run a simple cab install. the zip file contains the reg files if you want to manually import yourself. i've tested both and they work fine. again, i must emphasize that you power off after installing it and not just soft reset. try it out and let me know.
FOR THOSE OF YOU DOING CLEAN INSTALLS:
i didn't realize this but when you do a clean install, you still have to install a couple of the sb extended roms before you run my cab. specifically, you need to run PP_ConnVKK_1.33.761.1.CAB and Provisioning.exe to set up the device to even be able to accept the new password/settings. run PP_ConnVKK_1.33.761.1.CAB first and then Provisioning.exe...now once you run provisioning.exe, you'll find that it automatically creates the old SoftBank connection for you under internet->manage existing connections with the OLD password. go ahead and delete this connection, reboot (optional) and then run my cab (new sb settings.cab). power down and up again and it should work.
just to be sure i did a file compare of the [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Comm\RasBook\SoftBank] "Entry" and "DevCfg" keys/entries with the old SoftBank setting active and with the new SoftBank settings active and the file compare showed that the contents were completely different. i was worried that maybe somehow the system was just somehow reviving the old password and not actually using the new one but this does not appear to be the case.
UPDATE:
after some more experimenting, it seems that the cab just restores the sb connection with whatever username/pass that you had installed previously. if you delete the the new opensoftbank username connection and then run the cab, it restores the opensoftbank username/password. if you delete the old "open" username connection, it restores that. very strange since the file compare shows that this registry dump (taken from new rom with new settings) is significantly different than a dump taken from a rom with the old settings yet it is somehow restoring the old settings. thanks for looking into this but for now, i think we have to say that this isn't working. so it seems that password is not simply stored in the registry. it must be in some hidden file that this registry dump somehow activates. in any case, i'll keep working over the coming weeks. sorry for getting everyone's hopes up.
Wow, I think that is great news for every Softbank customer!
Thanks it worked for me. I guess I will find out in April if it will work. I will cross my fingers.
Great job!!
You are the man! Great!!
thanks for checking! are you saying you're unsure if the file actually contains the NEW password and not the old one? well, it's definitely the new password as i created these files using only the new rom, a reg editor and a file compare tool so the old password never entered the picture.
you can actually run this exercise yourself and just repeat the steps i did if you want to be sure as the methodology is pretty simple. all i did was find where the encryped passwd was stored in registry and just imported it over to a different rom as is, encryption in tact. i've made no attempt to hack the actual passwd--we still have no idea what it is but as long as we can use the new settings, finding out what the passwd actually is unnecessary.

i haven't tried this yet, but if it works for you using the new ap opensoftbank now, i believe you don't have to wait until april to see if it'll work. those who've already upgraded theirs to the new rom should be using that new ap already.
i must try this myself later today.
trialdei, thanks for the great work.
that is indeed a great news, I was also wondering how to find this in the registery but was not sure that the different key I found were the correct ones. I will try on my other Hermes tonight and we shall see ! But the very promissing point here is that potentially I can even use these files for my universal and the mteor... which means... if you don't like the crap of the SB roms... just buy a WM5 device everywhere U want and put these regkeys !!!
Good job Man !!!
Yes this is great news, I think we might still need the password to use the phone as a modem connected to a notebook.
I think that is exactly what softbank does not want us users using the connection for since we would use the internet more.

actually, i don't think you need to enter the password on the pc side at all to use the phone as a modem. check this post:

how about us with new sb rom... i don't see any wireless modem application on my phone... do you have a cab file for the wireless modem app alone?. i can't find it from ftp...
guys,
softbank is blocking the modem usage with a pc and it seems that's controlled at their open ap. i don't believe that's anything to do with the password nor the applications you use. you can fire up dun on your pc with x01ht connected via usb or bt, but the connection will fail.

i think you're probably right but then i wonder what's the point of establishing the new password in the first place if the modem usage isn't an issue for them either way? all of the x01ht's making their way to hk and abroad aren't going to be used on the sb network anyway. the new read-only radio rom takes care of simlocking already so the new passwd solves what? they just don't like the idea of people running around with foreign language roms accessing their network?

i think they don't want people without the flat rate data tariff contract to use the open ap to cap the monthly pay. there are quite a few people in japan who just had the vodafone contract and running universal or hermes bought from elsewhere.
now that i have your registry solution for the new password, i cannot resist testing it on my universal. if it works, i don't have to retire my universal after april 1. thanks again.

i'm a newbie on this topic softbank open access.
so what is the main purpose of having this option available for the user.
is it allow the user to have the internet access over the softbank network.
and also if possible, please guide where i can find addititional softbank open access setup instruction, besides the information is already provided by trialdie's original post on this string.
please advice.
found the existing thread on softbank open access (unlock softbank x01ht thread). got the answer from there.
great!
this is great! i was having problems with the new sb rom and asukal's mui... i can't seem to get any network signal or even passthrough connections with that combination..
i'll try this one with the new htc rom from south africa, it may work for me.

hi qtotter,
you need to make sure your registry settings are sticking...did you power off/on. the below new registry keys/entries should show up if you did it right:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Comm\RasBook\SoftBank]
"Entry"
"DevCfg"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\ConnMgr\Providers\{7C4B7A38-5FF7-4bc1-80F6-5DA7870BB1AA}\Connections\SoftBank]
"ConnectionGUID"
"SecureLevel"
"Secure"
"AlwaysOn"
"RequirePw"
"Enabled"
"EntryType"
"DestId"
if you don't see these new keys/entries then your registry changes aren't sticking.

Make NEW SoftBank AP setting on ANY Hermes ROM W/O cooking!

After I posted ROM-cooking method to create new SoftBank flat-rate data connection, another Japanese X01HT user has found more easier way today.
I would like to introduce new method with respect for his great work...
Now you DON'T need ROM cooking!
Step 1. Unzip the attached file, and run either ConnSBM.CAB or ConnSBM_noproxy.CAB for your purpose.
ConnSBM.CAB: make a connection, overwrite WirelessMgr_Service.dll and enable hidden proxy (webopen.softbank.ne.jp:8080), it is fully compatible as X01HT's standard connection.
ConnSBM_noproxy.CAB: just make a connection (no WirelessMgr_Service.dll and hidden proxy installation).
The connection will be created, however password entry is still empty at this moment.
Step 2. Run ORE2cert.cab (self-signature certificate for WIFIwake.exe).
Step 3. Copy Out.xml and WIFIwake.exe into \Windows folder.
Step 4. Just RUN WIFIwake.exe from \Windows.
The password will be created into the connection made by ConnSBM.CAB.
To confirm whether success or not, check the connection "Internet > SoftBank", and click "Edit -> Next -> Next". If "****************" is shown at the Password field, the password has been successfully created.
Enjoy!
EDIT: Updated WIFIwake.exe as self-signed version. I've prepared Hermes and Universal version separately (the difference is internal string for each model name). For Universal, at least I could have successfully made the connection on the DarkForce WM6 for Universal.
Download ConnSBM_ORE2h.zip (for Hermes X01HT) or ConnSBM_ORE2u.zip (for Universal JASJAR) and try it again if the password is still blank.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: It seems to depend on CID...
To make this operation correct on non-SuperCID device, it requires to edit internal device name and CID. The attached file for Hermes seems workable for X01HT(Model: HERM200/CID: VODAK801) or SuperCIDed HERM200 device only, and for Universal, also only for JASJAR (PU10/CDL__001) or SuperCIDed device.
If you cannot create PW, you need to edit CID (01C798h-01C7A7h) using Unicode or UTF-16 mode of binary editor (for non-HERM200 or PU10 device, Model [01C760h-01C76Fh] also), and sign yourself... However, if you burn them into your cooked ROM, it may works correctly without edit binary (I've successed on my JASJAR, using original WIFIwake.exe from X01HT).
You can determine your CID using info 2 command of mtty.exe.
Too bad I alreday cooked mine...
great!!
it's perfect work on my x01ht with wm6lvsw edition!!
thank you
WOW! Amazing! Beautiful!
Thank you so much! I love it!
Will you understand the password?
Because it is necessary when using it from the personal computer as a
modem.
Doesn't work with Treo 750v
It seems this CAB utilize WiFi manager or something?
When I extracted the files from ZIP and executed the CAB, copy the Out.xml and WIFIwake.exe to \Windows folder and executed WIFIwake.exe, nothing happens. The connection Internet was created but the password is still blank.
Password Not Made in My hTc Universal

Very Very Good Job!!
But Dont Create Password in my Universal.Of course installing According to the procedure.
Please Help.
My Universal is 02 Xda Exec
ROM:2.10.04JPN

Nice, I was messing around and the wifiwake will not put the password without the out.xml file but I was able to edit the text in the out.xml (which was about 300 letter As) and add some more random letters in there and it created it. Anyone think they can decompile the exe and look for the actual password?

Those using opera 8.6

Hey when reciving a email and trying to click a link instead of the link being opened in a web browser whether it be opera or IE i get a error saying The file operalaunch cannot be opened . And isnt signed or truste certificate. Any clue on how to fix this so that i can open links directly from my email.
about a year and a half ago, i ran into this problem. I googled and found a reg hack for it. After growing out of opera and into netfront, i lost the reg hack. Well just recently i decided to reinstall my old opera 8.6, and thru the time of having netfront installed i lost the reg hack info. I tried to google again, but this time i had no luck in finding it. If you happen to stumble upon it please tell! Good luck!
As posted in Thread # 297115...
You only need to make one change:
In HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\Rai\: DEFBROWSER is a key called "1". Change the string value from "OperaLaunch.exe" to "\Program Files\Opera\OperaLaunch.exe" (or whereever Opera is actually installed). You need to include the quotes around the string. Save and restart your device.

work for me with little mod to the reg string
Change the string value from "OperaLaunch.exe" to "\Program Files\Opera\Opera.exe"
yea i think i misspelled aword thats why..checking now lol thanks
i see what the problem was the first link to change the value data ending with the operalaunchexe isnt correct when applied the same error continues
but adding just opera/opera.exe corrects it and it works fine thanks all.

I am not sure how that could work, because there is no executable file called Opera.exe. There are two, one called OperaLaunch.exe and the other is OperaWM.exe. You can just run OperaWM.exe, I am not sure what OperaLauch.exe does (probably just memory checking and other housekeeping).

The reason the error message appears with the default setting (which is just OperaLauch.exe) is that the operating system can't find it. Think of your PC which has the PATH variable which tells the OS where to look for executables in common folders such as \WINDOWS. Well the PPC doesn't have that concept (as far as I can tell). You have to tell the OS exactly where the file is located, either in a "path" string such as in this case, or referenced in another section of the registry.
Of course, if you installed Opera somewhere else (e.g. on the Storage Card), then the path would have to be adjusted accordingly.

thanks.....with the path u provided with opera/opera.exe it opened my hyper links no prob thanks guys. Im not sure how that worked as far as not being opera/operalaunch....but it worked. Thanks it was a little annoying issue. lol

You're welcome. Glad it's working. I agree that it was annoying and I was happy too when I found the fix...

a1jatt's kitchen for 3.35 rom

This kitchen is based on sprint 3.35 release
NOTE:This is an os rom. radio 3.35 and olipro 2.40 unlocker required.
Features:
* Only 57 mb, includes all tools and everything.
* Very easy to cook. just run buildflash.bat and follow instructions.
* Clean
oem folder has been cleaned, windows live and some other stuff is removed from sys, Every program has its own folder. if you want it to be cleaner just delete related folders from sys folder.
* Adjusted security policies
* based on original sprint release. It is not a remixed version. Almost everthing extracted from original sprint rom, including xip, sys, oem drivers etc.
* Fixed PIE, not freezing anymore.
I have spent lots of time on it and have adjusted lots of stuff that i cant remember.
I have learnt most of stuff from xda-developers.com, ppcgeeks.com, howardforums.com , no2chem and dcd and they are source of some of the packages i have included. So thank you all.
It would not be possible without the wonderfull kitchen tools either.
So please thank them also if you like this kitchen.
Instructions: Just run buildflash.bat and follow instructions.

Ignore. I got it from megaupload finally.
Thanks for the perfect kitchen...
No bugs, fast, easy to customize and no attempt to install bleeding edge updates!!! This is exactly what I was looking for.
Thanks again!!!
my experience.
Great rom - easy to use, and fast. Although it didn't like being compiled under parallels on Mac OS X, I had no issues with the build file under a windows laptop.
My only problem that i have found (kind of major) is that I can not connect to the internet via #777 on Telus. I have the "Ev" on my title bar, and the internet briefly connects, but quickly drops the connection saying unknown problem. I have no idea why this is happening, but would love a solution
Otherwise google maps, works fine w/ wifi, and I was unable to get tomtom to find the map (no maps found) so have no clue there.
Thanks for the rom, and if anyone has advice on how to resolve my two issues that would be great Keep up the great work.My ex

That is weird. You might want to try without any add-ons and reprogram your phone via *22803 using option 1 and then option 2 to update prl.
I have flashed 5-6 phones ... have not had single problem in last three weeks.
No body else has complained at ppc or xda yet. Since not even one other person is having same issue, I am guessing it’s not a bug; it’s just your settings.
If you can help me with duplicating the problem on my phone, i probably can fix it.
Tomtom issue is not rom related. Tomtom maps should be stored in folder in the root directory of sd card.
Sure what info would you like to know? I performed the following:
- Installed the Olipro 2.40 unlocker
- Flashed with Sprint Rom 3.35 latest
- Used the buildflash.bat on a windows box to create my install
- Installed the created rom
- Performed a *22803 with option 1 & 2
- Checked with Telus that I do infact have a data plan
- When I connect to the internet either through Opera or IE I get this message "Cannot connect for an unkown reason blah blah please check settings"
Now I have tried with a username & password (esn dec) with no luck. Now with my ignorance I have misplaced the data I wrote down on MSID, NAI, DUN, etc numbers so I have no way of verifiying that data. Now when I installed the sprint rom it started the install its extra stuff after an accidental power cycle - did that fubar stuff? Should I of relocked my phone, reinstall telus, then re-unlock and perform the above steps?
So with tomtom the maps are in the root of the SD? In a dir? Do I have to edit the currentmap.dat file?
Thanks for the quick reply and help - what other info do you want
from here
http://rapidshare.com/files/103173398/Erase_Extended_Rom.zip.html
flash the attached rom ( it includes flashing utility) . it will erase sprint stuff you have in extended rom.. that should fix data problem
tomtom maps should be \\storage_card\usa and canada maps
no need to edit any files
Did that, and re-entered the data for my #777 connection (username and password). Unfortunately I still have no internet. Will keep plugging away. Thanks
However TomTom is working now with maps

i have followed the steps you lave listed, still i am unable to duplicate the problem.
may be flash telus oem, get data working and then copy every single epst setting before you reflash.
inorder to flash telus oem you will need relocker from ppc site.
EDIT: seems like internet problems are related to sprint customization..
