Some post-flash questions - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam Software Upgradin

Hi guys!
I've recently bought a mda vario II (HERM300) device which was -duh- locked with T-mobile ROM and it was SIM locked.
I wanted to get rid of the ROM lock, so I tried the following steps:
1) Run hardSPL to get SPL (bootloader) to 2.10.olipro
2) Flash it using HTC WWE ROM (WM5)
As described on http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Upgrades
Everything went well and I was running the latest - at the time - WWE HTC ROM. All ok at this point.
After working with this ROM for a while, I wanted to run WM6, so I did some research and stumbled upon JasJammin's Black Edition WM6 ROM. While reading I came across this other post on the forum stating that my step 1 in the previous action did NOT actually turn my device into SuperCID. *I got kinda worried at this point*
I used POF's CID/SIM unlocked v3a and followed the instructions. It said it was succesful and I tried to install the Black Edition WM6 ROM. This was also succesful, but left me with some questions:
1) My new ROM is obviously a cooked ROM, which doesn't contain every aspect of a rom (i.e. it doesn't have a radio rom). Is there a way to check ALL versions of every ROM-aspect I have currently installed or should I check the ROM's (HTC WWE WM5-ROM) details and the details of the currently installed Black Edition?
2) How do I check whether or not my device is SuperCID now? Yes I can install the latest plain HTC WM5 ROM and the cooked Black Edition WM6, but I would like some confirmation on this.
Cheers in advance!

Upgrading MDA Vario II with HTC Rom - open questions

Hi comm!
I have a T-Mobile MDA Vario II, Rom Version: 1.21.
Can i upgrade my PPC with the released WM6 update of HTC without any problems, although i have a differently branded TyTN? Will all functions work (telephone, internet)? And can i downgrade my WM6 to WM5 easily or can I reactive my current system status with a backup (SK Tools)? Last but not least, what will the warranty say?
Thanks for your efforts.
PS: sorry for all these maybe stupid questions...but i´m just a beginner =)
upgrading to WM 6 worked for me as did unlocking ;-)
If you do not use an official T-mobile ROM update forget any warranty, unless you're able to downgrade to the original one
I have an original Rom from T-Mobile. Do you know what happens with the warranty of T-Mobile when you unlock the CID? Does the CID still will be unlocked if you install another Rom? Can you lock it again?
It won´t be possible unless you downgrade to your old ROM again. I am not sure if that´s possible, though.
I went along the way described at http://www.mrvanx.org/cms/index.php...ask=view&id=65&Itemid=26&limit=1&limitstart=4
If you follow the directions including the upgrade to wm6 from Custel, you can afterwards install the German WM6 version from HTC. It won´t work directly. The CID will stay locked and the HTC cannot be installed until you installed the CUSTEL version.
I think the T-Mobile contract does not allow to modify the system in this way.
How to
Using the search function gave me thread as the first result.(Couldnt find any how to guides)
So.. What do i need to do to upgrade my ROM? i have a fresh MDA vario II just got repaired from the shop.(Nothing to do with bricking if you;re wondering)
Can some one please give me a simple step by step guide on how to upgrade.
Thanks a bunch
HELP
i have 8525, and i installed WM6, with different applications and i cant get the voice dial to work and cant find any applications or roms, does anyone know how i can get it to work?

Another ROM "UPGRADE" question

Hey all, this is NOT a "howz to git to Windowze Mobiil 6.!!!!" post, but rather a question about "upgrading" a ROM. I am currently running TNT's Windows Mobile 6.1 Proffesional ROM, and I have just learned that there is any upgrade to that particular ROM, and would like to know if I can safely upgrade to it from WM6.1, or do I have to downgrade back to the Love ROM and then upgrade again. Heres my device history if it helps:
Device=Cingular 8125, SIM Unlocked(using Lokwiz 3.0)
Original ROM=Cingular WM5.0
Current ROM=TNT WM 6.1 V1
Heres how I upgraded it originally:
Got it home, used the HardSPL method to make my IPL/SPL 2.26.XXXX(so my device IS a G4), tried to upgrade to WM6.1...no luck. Discovered that you have to upgrade to the LOVE ROM first, so I tried that...again, no luck. So I then used the SoftSPL.exe to temporairily CID unlock my device I guess, and then proceeded to upgrade to the LOVE ROM, then to the TNT WM 6.1 V1 ROM.
Now, my device is working fine, and I would just like to know if I CAN upgrade to the new V2 ROM, and if what I did to get this far is correct. ANy help is appreciated!

My opinion is that flashing the LOVE ROM was a unnecessary step. I never do anything like that before changing ROMs (flashing a stock ROM and the like)
That almost answers your question except that having used SoftSPL your CID block is still locked and SPL knows it so you must either:
1- Flash SoftSPL before flashing the TNT
2- Flash the HardSPL to not worrying about it ever again when wanting to change ROMs (my option - if i had a G4)
hope it's clear
cheers
PS:
Use WST to check if you SPL is HardSPL'ed or not with "Device Info" option
"G4 SAFE" What does that mean???

I have a question about What G4 safe?
I uploaded a rom with HTCLogo.nb+Splash.nb+OS.nb (I assume that because there is no IPL/SPL it should be safe for G4????)

Absolutely right m8
As you can see from the pics only the IPL and SPL have versions depending on the DOC chip (G3 3.08 in this case )
cheers

Thanx So much!

Need a little help please.

I just bought a used 8125. The device was suppose to be standard, but when it arrived it had WM 6.1 custom rom from newbie1221. I also noticed that it is a G4.
IPL 2.1.0001
SPL 2.1.01ip
So is it safe to assume the device is CID unlocked?
Is it safe to flash This Romas it doesn't include ipl/spl?
How will the UK radio work since I'm in the US? My current Radio version is 2.25.11
How can I tell if it's wwe?
It says it's WM 6.1 but I'm confused by this
5.2.19199 build 19199.1.0.0 (AKU 1.0 )
OS: 11.0.1.0 << as you know, 11.x.x.x is for TNT Series or based on

Does this mean it's not 6.1?
Please be patient with me it's been a while since I've had WM device. The wiki helped me a lot.
Heya man, welcome to the fold....you can tell if your device has WM6.1 on it by going to START->Settings->System->About, and at the top is will say OS:Windows Mobile 5.0/6/6.1, depending on what you have. Since your IPL/SPL is already Olip'ed, then yes, your device IS indeed CID unlocked....but if you havent done so already, I would download the excellent Wizard Tool availible up here at XDA-Dev and SIM unlock your device aswell. To answer your other question, you should be fine with flashing a different rom, as long as it DOES NOT contain an Extended ROM partition OR IPL/SPL.
No, G4 is always CID locked, regardless you used HardSPL or not (HardSPL only tricks the RUU program, you can always check the CID lock status using WST)
Yes, it's safe to flash any ROMs that doesn't include IPL and SPL.
For the Radio, all Radio ROMs has support for all GSM modes supported by Wizard hardware, just try to see if it gives a better reception.
TNT roms are always WWE (you can see the screenshots, it is always WWE if it is an English ROM)
5.2.19xxx is WM6.1 ROM. TNT used its own versioning in ROM, so don't count on that.
So all that HardSPL'ing a device does is trick the RUU? Didnt know that, I thought that it actually "unlocked" the phone, like we do over in the excalibur forums lol
starkwong is absolutely correct and I endorse it!
Thanks for all the help. I downloaded WST it shows it was Sim unlocked but I have no way of testing. WST shows that the phone is HardSPL. When I try to flash any Roms I get a Error 300 message. So I used the RUU MUN worked perfectly. The phone is my wifes & she is very happy. Thanks again for all the help. The Wizard may be old but it runs great.

For me there was a great question mark about the steps to take, so I'll explain them here for :
1. Dump your ROM (if you want to)
2. Install HardSPL 1.15 MFG
3. CID & Security Unlock
4. Flash a new ROM
5. Voila!
6. Reconstruct your original ROM into a flashable .nbh file for backup en now go & enjoy this forum 'n' stuff!!

Hello guys, first of all: great forum with a lot of info..
I'm a recent owner of the HTC Touch Dual (Dutch Vodafone branded)
I've read a lot of threads before posting, but some questions are raised: I'ts about flashing my Nike to the original HTC Dutch ROM:
After reading all threads about this issue I should follow this order:
1. install HardSPL 1.15 MFG, described in the "Nike SSPL, USPL and HardSPL" thread.
2. Dump my original ROM (or should this be step 1, cause it's deleted by flashing HardSPL?)
3. Unlock my device, described in the "Nike SuperCID" - thread, with installing the original radio-version --> 1.58.21.23S as suggested
4. Flash to the original HTC-ROM (dutch) which i've allready downloaded
5. Turn the dumped Vodafone ROM to a flashable ROM and donate it at this forum
6. Ready?
As I'm studying on this for 2 weeks now, maybe someone can confirm this steps to be right, because I don't want to completely mess up my phone, or suggest some better ways...
Hope to hear from you all!
greetz..
Device:
Niki-100
Rom version: 1.31.172.16
Radio version: 1.58.21.23
Protocolversion: 25.65.30.04H
solved & updated
for those interested...
How did you get it done
Dear wpostma,
Nice to hear that you got it done.
I am curious how you went to work.
Did you follow the steps in your first post?
I am still doubting if i should update my Touch Dual.
I have an original NLD ROM on it right now.
What is your experience? Is the phone really more responsive?
Well if I can make a backup of my own ROM then I can always go back.
Regards, KoBuster
nearly exact the steps a described in my first post, but first make a dump, it's not so hard and described in the WIKI
- the next you've to install HardSPL 1.15 mfg
- i had to unlock my phone with CID unlocker, very clear described in the CID thread
- now your phone is ready to flash any ROM
Funny thing: I wanted to flash the original HTC ROM but experienced some problems with that ROM and the ROMS provided, and the most of them being WWE instead of NL turned me to flash back my Vodafone ROM again.. but in fact the switch to another ROM is availible now and that's very pretty!
Maybe I'll flash the Lite ROM if it's available.
that's the fact...
do you have the original vodafone boot splash it isnt in your rom i need it so badley please somebody help me thnxs in advance
no I haven't my original vodafone splash screen, interested too anyways...

ATHE100 SPL-1.06.0000 - is this SPL "ok"?

Hi there, my first posting after reading here for a few days...
I got an T-Mobile Ameo which identifies its IPL and SPL like this (in Bootloader Mode)
ATHE100
IPL-1.00
ATHE100
SPL-1.06.0000
I am a little bit confused since I could not find any other person/posting which reported this SPL version of 1.06.
What do you think about this? Is it just normal or do I have to do some precaution measures before CID-unlocking, SIM-unlocking and flashing?
Greetings, forcemaker
Upgraded to T-Mobile WM6
... with the "original" Upgrade Tool, all fine for me; I also figured out that my PrePaid-Provider "Congstar" is D1=T-Mobile net, so I do not even have to SIM-unlock.
All's fine
So this low SPL version which I couldn't find in combination with "ATHENA" so I was guessing if this was a "too old" version.
CU, forcemaker
Hi
I also have this SPL with small differance SPL 1.07
Have you SUCCESSFULY unlock with OLIPRO unlocker
and this ""original" Upgrade Tool," from where is this
Best regards
just used the T-Mobile WM 6 ROM
Hi GSmart,
I did not unlock the device nor SIM unlocked, so I cannot tell whether it will do the job for you.
I used the ROM from T-Mobile Germany (Deutschland, short TMD). As I did not need any modification - I just wanted it to work stresslessly - I just flashed the ROM with the Update tool that was supplied with the download. As far as I got it, it is the original upgrade tool supplied for providers and customers(?).
You can find the original ROMs in this Thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334512
I myself used "German - T-Mobile Ameo" which is:
http://rapidshare.com/files/73352583/Athena_WM6_TMD_2.35.111.3_By_Agent_Bignose.zip
So, if any modified ROM which needs unlocking, will install fine? Don't know. Maybe you could upgrade with an official ROM and automatically with the supplied SPL version and then do your personal upgrade.
But ask here in the forum, I cannot answer this.
Good luck!
1000 times thank you for your attention
