My SPV M3100 won't start...

Hello.
I have a problem I hope someone here can help me to solve..
I have an Orange SPV M3100 that hangs on the Windows Mobile screen when I try to start it.
I'm able to go into bootloader mode, and i have tried using mtty142.exe with the set 14 0 command. It still won't boot. I've also tried to hard reset it.. still won't boot..
What I did was trying to unluck the SIM-lock with the Universal unlocker (HTC_Uni_Unlock_v1) from buzz. At the time I thought universal meant that it worked on all HTC devices (stupid, I know)... And I also thought it was harmless to just try and see if it worked. But I got an error around 92-93% and after that my device won't start. So my radio ROM might be screwed.
I'd like to flash my ROM with the i-mate one (JASJAM_WWE_1.20.305.3_1.20.305.104_1.07.03.10_ship.exe) and then add the ext-rom. But how do I do that when I can just access the bootloader screen? And do you think it will boot again if I'm able to flash it?
Here's some more info about my device:
HERM100
IPL-1.01
SPL-1.04
Thank you very much in advance. Help will be highly appreciated.
No your rom *is* screwed. You can get into bootloader, you can even get to 11% of a dopod etc rom upgrade if you try, but you will not flash a new radio.
You CAN boot the device.
Do a hard reset, but do not press spacebar to reboot after. Instead, do a soft reset. The unit should boot but as you've screwed the radio you will not get a gsm signal and the phone will say unknown sim status.
I know this as I bought one cheap after the owner had done exactly the same as you.
IMEI-check's unlock solution is the only one that works IIRC, and in some cases this re-writes the security area of the phone and repairs similar issues, but in this case I could not get the prog to read.
You need to return the device to HTC - you'll need to pay approx £35 for reflashing back to the orange rom. This is what I had to do.
Currently you cannot book the m3100 in through the web as it's too new, instead email / call them.
http://service.htceurope.com/
edit - or if you're an orange customer ring 150 and act dumb saying it ' won't work'....
Richard
What happens if you just leave the phone in bootloader mode and then try to flash any ROM (imate, dopod, htc...)? run 2 times the RomUpgradeUt.exe if you get an error on the 1st try.
If you get an error while running the rom upgrade utility you can monitor the USB port while upgrading (you will see the real error from the bootloader then), there's some more info on this wiki page:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_BootLoader
good luck

No, if you want to send it back under warranty do not try to run a rom update as there are no orange rom packages. As described in my post above, it will get to 11% and stop. The device will be in the same state as before, with the same ext rom, but the splash screen and bootloader will have changed.
i.e: it will be bloomin obvious you tried flashing it and failed. Not what you want if you try for a warranty repair....
There is no error from the bootloader - as there is no radio rom present and no security area the upgrade process just hangs.

That's true, do not try to flash any other roms if you want to use the warranty or send the device back...
Thank you very very much for your help guys.
As I'm the administrator of these devices in the company I work for I just grabbed a new SPV and will send this thing back to Orange. It sounded like I'm getting a new one..
Well, I think I've learnt my lession.
Oh, and I have another question. Is there a reg editor I can install on this one so I can remove the app lock? I know I can install java apps, but it's a bit grumpy about apps that needs installation (the developer must be certificated).
Cheers guys.
Hi,
Try to flash a new rom using the SD card method described here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=62596
The rom must match your CID. Let us know if it works

Sorry to take the thread a bit OT, but just wanted to confirm this again.
So, if I flashed my M3100 with a different ROM, and then had to return the phone to Orange for repair for a different reason, I can send it back to HTC just to have the ROM reflashed, and then send the phone to Orange to get the repairs done?
I've been hesitating on whether to flash the phone with a non-Orange ROM because I didn't want to give up the ability to obtain warranty repair (as there is no ROM upgrade yet). If it's just a matter of £35 and then everything else as normal, maybe it's not so bad...
Thanks!

Need some help...
I tried to flash a new Radio on my Hermes (1.40). Actually to reflash it... (Already had it installed, but this is another story)
While flashing I had 0% update... and not moving
Then CustoRUU said it failed... and proposed me to try again... I have SPL-1.11.Oli
So I could easily restart... get the tri-color screen... But whatever I do... I always refuses to flash... never goes further than 0%... And my USB port works on the PC (tested)... and the phone actually sees once I plug (I get USB apperaing when I plug it)
Has anyone experienced this before ? Can someone help ?
Thanks for your help...

The strange thing is whenever I take out my SIM card and put it back I do not get the "No GSM" message. nd the phone works... That's primarly why I tried to update the radio... To fix this annoying problem...
I just tried again... Removing the SIM, puting back, I get the network, can use the phone. And now, and now......... it's flashing !
Waoh waoh waoh... I guess kind of lucky on this... And I a SURE it's nota misplaced SIM that is the origin of my problem... Still flashing now, will tell the result later
Thanks Olipro for your support

It does look like I have a Hardware problem no ? Or not far from it... Seems like I have to take out my SIM card quite often (Not every reboot, but nearly...)
If anybody experienced the same kind of trouble... I'd be happy to hear from them
Olipro, could it be tht the radio bootloader is corrupted, but still working from time to time ? Or maybe I have a hardware issue ? Someting I can try to check about the radio bootloader (Or try to fix it) ?
Otherwise since I dumped the original ROM of my phone, I ll learn how flash it back (If I remember well it's kind of a pain, since the image is not similar to the ones we usually flash from this forum...) and will bring it back
My worry is that the flash fails in the middle and I get stuck... And not sure my phone maker will like "Hard SPL"... But I should not remove it... too risky...
Anyway I'd rather avoid that so if anybody has a clue of what may have happened to my radio booloader (Or if it's something else...), I'd love to have some advice

yes... I think if the Radio BL is the same or older then the process is skipped, therefore, and again, I *think* if you're BL0108 then you're safe from this.
Thanks for the info Oli.
Even in this configuration (ie moving the SIM or rebooting until I dont have the "NO GSM" message, my 3G / HSDPA connection drops frequently and I have to reboot... Sometimes the phone works, soemtimes it doesnt
Olipro: this symptoms are symptoms for what ? Broken radio bootloader ? (But as it seems not 100% broken...) Or something else ? Do I have a chance to fix this ?

Hve you ever got stuck at the white screen saying Loading.....

to get out of it, is very simple... remove your minisd then press "ok"+"power"+"reset"
it should work unless u damaged your spl. if you damaged you spl, copy original one from RUU_Athena.... and rename it to ATHEIMG.NBH then copy it to you sd, then press "ok"+"power"+"reset"
i'm not sure it all will work for everybody, but thats what i tried and it did work for me...

I tried this and still in white screen(after change from Spanish to English and disconnect error occurred).
Hi,
i have a uk ameo from tmobile, will it work if i take the nbh from htc wwe version ?
My case in detailes...
I have original HTC Advantage 7500 not branded with Spanish windows . After tried to update with English RUU my htc Advantage stuck in 3 colors boot-loader mode. Any resets(soft, hard, boot-loader) not help.
Than I find this suggestion here I tried it and it help:
I think you are not stuck in bootloader, I think you are stuck in the Flash
ROM utility which has colors and not just the Dopod logo with a black scree.
If this is the case, here it is what I did to solve this:
I downloaded ruu_athena_dopodasia_wwe_1.24.707.3_105_6275_1.32.
00.10_108_ship, which you already did.
Decompiled the RUU_signed.nbh contained inside
ruu_athena_dopodasia_wwe_1.24.707.3_105_6275_1.32. 00.10_108_ship with
dutty's good NBH tool found at: http://forum.xda-
developers.com/showthread.php?t=296316 then I created a new RUU_signed.nbh
with the same files but it didn't allowed me to insert some items like the
SIRFBootLoader.nb and some others, so I started executed the
ROMUpdateUtility.exe again and it stopped again at 1% but with a different
error "Corrupted ROM Image" and suddenly! My device was taken out of the
Flash Utility to see the bootloader screen again! Wow! What a relief!

this is done!
after my Spanish OS reloaded and I can to do ActiveSync with PC - Than I find this suggestion in this thread and I tried it and after 5 min connecting error occurred . After hard resetting after this "update", after the HTC boot screen I just get a white screen. The HTC does make a sound as if it's working and BT and WiFi leds blink. When device connected to PC the HTC does make a sound as if it's working, but the ActiveSync in PC write that can't to connect to mobile device. And I just can't see anything.
Now I can't find Spanish HTC Advantage 7500 not branded RUU in all World.
Any ideas.
I succeeded with mine

This ROM's name
Please support us with a bit more of information.
You´ve got a T-Mobile device and flashed it with a different ROM for a HTC device without branding.
But what did you meant with "flash via Website"? How did you really flash (via Active Sync or via SD card)?
Did you install HSPL or at least SSPL first?
I Flash it via Active Sync
yes I Installed HSPL But sspl I didn't Install
Its dead, the radio in that rom has killed it.
Only options are JTAG or replace mainboard
Though it is strange that the filename says 2.10.50 for the radio version, since 1.66 roms usually come with ..51.. radios, which kill tmouses.
If it really is a ..50.. radio in a 1.66 rom then a tmous should boot but hang at splash, yet you say yours just won't start, so I suspect a typo in the filename. (Not your typo,I can see lots of references to that filename online.)

Sorry, it was not my idea but from b3ltazar. His thought was that your device might get no power to work.
I recommend once again to bring your device to a htc service center in order to repair it. In my mind you seem to have an hardware issue
