Nyditot Virtual Display? - Advantage X7500, MDA Ameo ROM Development

Has anyone tried Nyditot Virtual Display on the Athena with WM6 yet? I'm asking because I can't be without my device the next 2-4 days and don't have the time to restore if it gets messed up.
Let me know if you had any problems if you tested this software on your athena and thanks.

I tried it, it didn't work, every change required a program activated reset, which didn't work, so i had to use the soft reset button, which obviously cleared the changes, so nothing happened

Thanks. The product promises a lot but I guess the developer hasn't really done testing on many devices. I've been trying this program for years and never got it to work properly myself. I even had to hard reset a few times because of it. Didn't feel like going through this without asking for experiences.
Maybe I should email the developer and tell him he should join this forum and get people to test his software on multiple devices to make it better, or at least get it to work. The features promise a lot and it looks like a great product but it just doesn't work well.

Agreed on all counts, the Nyditot web site links to a forum though
BTW I initially thought it was pronounced 'Any Idiot'

I also never got this to work, even had to do a hard reset once

I wish they would update their program. Looks like a very nice utility...if it worked.

What the #%@# did 6.5 do to my fuze

So I'm sure that the majority of the people that are going to read this thread have already read about the spacing problems that people have been experiencing with 6.5. I was one of the people that flashed the first build from Da_G that had the spacing issue, and figured I would flash another rom to solve the problem.
I flashed another rom, and the problem still existed. I was getting either no spaces between words (randomly) or two spaces. No big deal, I figured, I would just flash another rom.
So I did; and I still had the problem. This was getting annoying. Back to 6.1. So I flashed to 6.1. Still the same problem. WHAT THE %&[email protected]! I thought. I guess the chef cooked in some of the 6.5 files into 6.1 or something. Now this was getting REALLY old. I needed to end it quickly.
That brings me to tonight, when I flashed the official latest at&t fuze rom straight from htc's website. I KNEW this would be foolproof. And guess what.
IT STILL HAS THE PROBLEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So my question is: after flashing numerous times, and soft resetting of course, how is it possible that this problem still exists? It happened exactly after flashing the rom that everyone else had spacing problems with, and hasn't gone away.
PLEASE. Someone help me. I can't even use the device and it's getting to the point where I'm really close to just dumping it and going to get something else. I hope someone out there has the answer.
which keyboard or input are you using, I've been on Da G's, NRG's, Shep's and the latest at&t stock rom, wm6.1 and wm6.5 and don't have any issues. I have issues with input on certain areas of the TF3D2 stuff but nothing with spaces.

I've used almost every possible configuration with everything, and the problems I am experiencing is with the hardware keyboard. But I've used the new ezinput2, old ezinput, abc, xt9, enabling and disabling auto correct and the other options, and ive also tried a cab by monx that didnt seem to work. I'm completely out of ideas. The fact that ive flashed over the original tons of times and the problem still exists RIGHT AFTER the flash, before I even touch anything, baffles my mind.

Is it not possibly you've just got a duff space key on your keyboard, and it's nothing to do with the ROM?

Although I've thought about this, it woul be EXTREMELY strange if my space bar decided to crap out in the exact same way and at the exact same time that everyone else started having issues

Yeah, no. I think what you are experiencing is a problem that your DEVICE is retaining, not a defect in each and every ROM you happen to flash. It is either something not getting flashed correctly or a hardware problem or something else that you are installing each time. If there ARE other people with this problem, get them together in a thread like this and share notes.
I havent had any space issues.
You said you've done tons of soft resets, but have you done any hard resets? If not, that is the very first thing that I would do if I were you. I suspect it's a hardware problem, but a hard reset may cure your ills. If you do this, don't run UC or install anything until you've tested the keyboard. You haven't mentioned what you do to customize your device (like run a sprite restore, lol?), but before you blame someone else, you should do a hard investigation to make sure you're not screwing things uo yourself.
As I'm sure you already know, the Custom ROM Flash tool has been modified such that it does not issue a full wipe of the flash. Therefore, it's possible that some bits are still set. When I experience such occasional anomalies, I have resolved them by applying the official HTC 5.05.405.1 WWE (6.1) stock ROM to my device.
Here's the thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=478657
This will downgrade/upgrade your Radio and change the Splash; you can always re-apply your personal favorites afterwards.
Once installed, I use the CWSLayout registry entry to change the keyboard and test all of the features of the device. In your situation, if the keyboard remains "broken", it's would indicate that the keyboard has somehow failed and requires replacement or servicing.

This is the advice I was going to give as well. It's recommended that you hard reset after every ROM flash once you get to screen alignment to wipe out any data that may have been retained.

Completely agree, a hard reset pre or post ROM flash is always good practice.
I've been using the following sequence (recommended by a few senior members) for several months now and results have been positive.
Hard Reset: Volume Down & Action & Reset/Power On
Hard Reset: Volume Up
Bootloader: Volume Down
Lastly, I'm not an advocate of using Backup applications in situations where different versions of ROM's are frequently flashed. It introduces too many "unknowns".
Cheers,
Do a Task 29 in mtty
I will say if you can't figure it out and your device is till under warranty, flash back to original and ask for a new one. claiming defective product.
That's really weird I had the exact same problem. I thought it was my space key, so i got a warranty replacement saying i had lost my phone, meaning I still have the old one. I will have to test when i get home and see if it was the hardware keys or something to do with the ROM. After getting a new phone I did notice my space key was a little sloppy, so I immediately assumed this was the problem. Hopefully I was wrong and have 2 working phones.
edit: nevermind forget it.

Had the same problem. There is a driver issue that may have caused what you're experiencing. It was discussed in the WM6.5 ROM kitchen by the chefs. I did everything you did and still had the same issues. Best fix, call AT&T and have them ship a replacement if your device is under warranty. Others have had similar issues and haven't found a solution yet. Most likely because it's a hardware failure. Wish I had better news for you.
I know it seems more than a coincident (I thought the same thing) but I've done some extensive searching and found that this is too random of an incident to blame ROMs. If it was a ROM issue, there would be a lot more people and a thread would have existed prior to yours.
If your device is under warranty, depending on where you live, there may be an AT&T Device Support Center and they carry the FUZE and will exchange the device for you. Otherwise, you'll get it in the mail in a few business days.
Cheers!

What do you mean by "sloppy"? can you elaborate a little? I just got my replacement yesterday (because of the same keyboard space bar issue as mentioned here) and I'm already running NRG's Latest WM6.5 ROM. So far so good.
"Apparently (as discussed in the Kitchen thread), there's an issue with the input driver of the 21812 build ROM. I'm not sure if that's the build NRG was using on 6/13, but it's very possible. So, Da_G has included the CompIME.dll from a working build (in this case, 21731) in the kitchen to correct the error, which was isolated in that thread by pyrorob. " ~Captain_Throwback~
Here's the cab compliments of Captain_Throwback...
by "sloppy" i meant that its not as springy and clicky as my replacement, so it made me think that the button had worn out from smashing it with my fat fingers so much and that's why it was bugging out! It must have been NRG 6/12 ROM that did it to my TP as well. Good to see there is a fix. Maybe my gf will let me trade her for her G1 now to add to my collection.

My phone is crazy!

I don’t know if it’s an age thing, as in phone years = two years being geriatric or what but it’s been doing some weird stuff.
Periodically, it’ll crash. The screen will totally freeze with it either on the home screen or a black screen as though it’s switched off. Ho hum, yet another battery pull to rectify it.
It doesn’t like too many text messages so I have to regularly do a bit of housekeeping there. Related to that, typing is starting to irritate me on there. The predictive seems to have a mind of its own and, well, it just winds me up so I end up making calls instead of texting.
Some of my text messages have vanished without me deleting them! I’ve noticed texts can be located in the SIM contact and the phone contact yet strangely my SIM tells me it has no texts. Nevertheless, when I’ve decided to embarked on a housekeeping mission, I learn that messages I intended on keeping have gone before I’ve even started deleting anything!
For a while, the phone also didn’t seem to know where I was. I was and still am in the UK and a few times, it put me in Balkan. That’s great. I’m all for a free holiday but it could have warned me so I could have packed properly!
It likes to use data even when I’m not even touching the phone! Whenever I pick up the phone, I always check next to my network that there is no counter. However, often when I pick it up I can see an hour or two has passed on a counter meaning its gobbling data. What’s spooky about this is that I’m meticulous about switching stuff off that uses data and it still turns itself on! This was the whole reason I didn’t take this phone on holiday last year; I reverted to my LG Renoir because it was safer!
The last thing it’s done, just a few minutes ago is re-start itself! I wasn’t even using it; it was just sat on the table next to me minding its own business and decided to re-start. Why?
After the Balkan incident happened a few times, my Mum said my phone was crazy. I agree with her.
Has anyone else had weird stuff happen on their phones?
If you have not tried it yet I would do a hard reset. Power your HD2 on while holding down both the volume up and down buttons and follow the on screen instructions when the come up.
Also make sure to back all of your personal data up from the HD2 first as this will wipe it clean.

This made me laugh hilariously too by the way.
The earlier roms often exhibited some, all or less of these behaviors. If you are still on a 1.4 rom version, get it updated.

I’m on the original version that came with the phone. I think that might be 1.43.
When you mentioned a ROM update, I thought
I’m so overwhelmed with the information on this forum. There are so many ROMS it’s hard to know what to pick and I’m seeing far too many posts where people have tried to update and something’s gone wrong.
I just don’t have the level of understanding about phone software to carry this out successfully.
If it were as easy as it is to update my iPod via iTunes, then I’d do it but all this looks way too scary
if you want to keep a stock rom, an update is very easy. and a lot of bugs in the first releases have been fixed.
just go to the website of your carrier and download the rom in the support section. if your phone isn't branded you can download the newest version on the htc website.
if you upgrade your rom you also have to backup all your data, cause it will get lost during the update process.
you can use pim backup for contacts and messages, or just use microsoft myphone.
yea mine was mental on teh original 1.43 too, lots of accidental calls,
to get the update start with htc.com, most of the uk carriers dont bother hosting the updates, htc.com - top right, pick country, then support - select phone - downloads and change teh small dropdown from all to rom upgrade, look for your carrier, , if a rom doesnt accept your serial when you click to download it, it isnt right for your phone, and you maybe have an unbranded, meaning it would take the regular WWE (world wide english) update, in which case try the one that doesnt have a carrier name attached.
once downloaded, read THIS which is linked to from THIS, which is a list of very usefull guides and related posts.
Thank you for all your excellent replies!
I got the latest T-Mobile ROM 3.14.110.1 from HTC website and completed the update following the HSPL installation.
Those links were absolutely wonderful! Thank you so much! I also found it useful watching the Youtube videos that were linked in one of the threads.
I’m currently personalising my phone and I’ve forgotten how to add Bluetooth as a QuickLink. I know it can be done as I saw the solution on here when I first got the phone and did it then so I’m having a look around see if I can find it again.
Oh and what a pleasant surprise being able to watch Youtube on my phone at last! Nice one!
Thank you all ever so much

Not only do they make sense wonderfull, but it has built in quicklink assignable toggles for BT, wifi and such.

If You Bought a Used Android You Could Be Being Tracked!

I believe this information should be out there for all Android users and i dont recall seeing it anywhere but i hang out here right now and thought i would share what i discovered on accident.
i reference a RAZR M here but INSERT any Android phone as far as i can tell.
***please Devs and such i am not one so ignore my possible misuse of how exactly it operates but i just wanted to share the point of this not how the Android OS operates
i had a RAZR M with ROOT and installed Avast Mobile Security (i believe many others would do this as well) and since i was root i installed it as a /System app. this as some of you may not know makes it kinda part of the OS now. this means that a Factory Reset does not remove it but instead installs it again. i will explain how i discovered this:
- had a RAZR M as mentioned and i installed Avast as /System
- you can rename the app itself to whatever you want like "fletch33" and so anyone who finds your phone wouldnt know it was a security app and try to uninstall it. this is a great feature so i renamed it.
- this will do the standard stuff like locate your device, wipe it, make it beep, etc....
- i decided to give the phone to someone else and they wouldnt want root items or anything so i did a factory reset forgetting i had installed Avast as /System so they would have a clean start with the M
- since Avast was /System it became part of the Factory Reset process and so a what i thought was a clean fresh phone actually still had Avast on it but now since it was fresh and clean there were no signs like an app to remind me i had installed it as root. i honestly forgot it was on there.
- i had selected to get notifications of where the phone is if it traveled a distance but could see it whenever i wanted with a browser login to website and although i had reset it that STILL WORKS! i am getting emails when it moves and can login and see it.
- there are no visible signs that this is on the M (insert any phone)
- in my knowledge the only way the tracking etc... would stop is if i were to ODIN or SBF or whatever the equivalent is on that particular device or i would have to re-install Avast and it would then allow me to put in my passcode and then i could uninstall it.
the moral of the story is that any used phone could have had this done and if not by accident like mine but on purpose for whatever reason.
fortunately i gave the M to a family member and i will fix it for him but it really made me think what it could be used for ....
if this has been mentioned or i am incorrect i apologize in advance but when i started getting emails about where the phone i gave away was located all the time from Avast after a Factory Reset i decided i should share this so that others might take precautions with their second hand Android device.
1. I always Odin my phone and procedure to rooting with in a few short hours of owning device.
And if not, I'm pretty sure unlocking the device will erase everything. (in a lot of my previous cases)
2. And I see nothing wrong with the previous owner being able to track me picking up his wife and taking her back to the white house to make her my First lady
Yep, first thing I would do is wipe the phone properly.
"Factory reset" is a really bad name for the process...it does nothing of the sort.
Um, makes complete sense that you can still track the device. I assumed that before you even posted it. Same way you can track devices through android device manager, moto software, etc etc.
You're forgetting a huge oversight here.......it doesn't really do much good if stealing someones phone, then wiping it, would get rid of all tracking options. Kinda defeats the purpose. Otherwise people would steal someone's phone, factory reset, then go about their merry way and you're SOL...

sure but since most Android phones dont offer a iPhone like recovery and most users dont even know what root it then to me its those people that should have concern.
i always ODIN or SBF etc.. myself if i pick up a used phone but most people woudnt even know about that.
Manufacturers should release iPhone like recovery system so that an average person can clean their phone without tech knowledge and downloading a file somewhere.

Whatsapp Virus spreading?

Hello everyone,
I might have a big problem.
This morning I booted my HTC One M7 as usual, and when it finished booting it opened a browser tap with a fake whatsapp update. I closed the browser immediately, and five minutes after this, the exact same thing happened. I started thinking how this could happend, and honestly I have no clue. All my apps are from the play store, and I only download documents for school. I haven't even downloaded a new app in the last week, however 15+ of my apps aren't up to date.
I scanned my phone with malwarebytes and it couldn't find anything. I rebooted my phone after the scan, and the problem seems to be gone. I was telling this story to a friend of mine this afternoon, and my mother said that she experienced the same thing, just a couple hours before I experienced it. After further investigation, it wasn't exactly the same. When she opened whatsapp, it asked her to do a weekly back-up of her chats. At first, she closed whatsapp, but when it appeared again, she clicked yes. She wasn't very clear about this, so I don't know if it was a fake menu, or the real deal. I have also scanned her Moto g (2013), and it found no malware.
I don't know if this could be harmfull. Especially because my parents use their phones for mobile banking.
This is a screenshot of my HTC
It could easily have been done through whatsapp. Part of the reason most people have stopped using it. Viruses run rampant I'm just about all of Facebook apps. And no anti virus will find them as they are vastly different then normal viruses.

Yeah I heard alot of people in Europe use it alot, here in the states almost no one uses it really except for kids. Most have moved to hangouts.
If I was you I would completely back up the device and then wipe everything and reflash the device.
Things like this will not be picked up by so called virus scanners.
I'am afraid that it is something like ShiftyBug (https://blog.lookout.com/blog/2015/11/04/trojanized-adware/). In the article it says that you have to install apps from third parties, but I have almost never done that. I have downloaded popcorntime in the past, but I have deletet it almost 6 months ago.
I'm afraid that if I reflash my device, that it will come back fairly soon. Is it possible that it has spread over my wifi network? Because of the fact that my mother got something similar on the same day.
But how do I know for sure that it is a virus? After I restarted my phone (12 hours ago), it hasn't shown up yet. Am I worried for nothing, or is there a big chances that I'm infected?
Thank you for all your replies!

The key word there is almost. If you reflash the device and it comes back then it maybe something that someopne else downloaded and was shared through your network. As you said your mother also saw it so I would go through her phone as well.
There are many apps out there that do this that are in the play store. So it is all a matter of being careful.
There is a chance. If it is big or not depends on how you use your device. It could also have come from a website someone visited. Im not saying you did but many porn sites are set to infect devices when they visit them.
If it was me. I would just start from scratch with each device and make sure that all the things installed are legit.
You could also run a logcat and try to reproduce it. That would tell you what is causing it.
Doesn't seem dangerous.

Then you have not been paying attention. Any browser pop that tells you to update an app is 99% an infected apk. It is a common practice for those that take apks and re-package them with malware
After reading more i must admit you are right.... My bad:good:
So I have to flash my phone, aren't there any other options? And if not, how do I reflash The HTC firmware to my phone?
Should I make a back-up before doing this, won't the malware spread again if I instal the back-up on my phone?
Thanks again!
EDIT:
Unfortunately, I still haven't been able to reproduce the problem.
I still haven't been able to reproduce the pop-up.
I do propably know where the problem came from, a friend of mine sent me a older version of soundcloud (the new one can't cache music). I installed that app, decided that it was to old for me and deleted it. The malware must have spread right after the first use. I'm planning on flashing my phone inthe weekend.
EDIT: I can reprodce the pop-up! It's linked to opening the app 'night mode', this app was downloaded in the official play store 2 years ago. Since then it hasn't got a lot of updates though.
Hey,
Time for a little update.
Last weekend, I contacted HTC's customer support due to the fact that I couldn't find my software version. They told me that I should execute a RUU, but they couldn't find the right version, so I had to contact the Dutch customer support (I didn't do this in the first place because the Dutch customer support wasn't open in the weekend).
The next monday (23-11) I contacted the Dutch customer support and asked them for the ROM, and unfortunately due to the regulations they don't publish the ROM's. However, they told me to do a factory reset and that should solve the issue. Unfortunately, it didn't. After the reset, I now get a different Whatsapp pop-up once or twice a day. The pop-up isn't connected to opening an app, like it was before the reset.
A friend of mine experienced the same problem this week on his new Moto X. All the other phones in my home network don't have this problem.
I hope someone will be able to help me!
Thanks in advance!

Hey,
Time for a little update.
Last weekend, I contacted HTC's customer support due to the fact that I couldn't find my software version. There's a chance that it might've spread over a certain network.... Is you and your moto x friend uses the same network ?

Yes, we both use the wifi network at our high school. But I did the factory reset friday evening, and since then I haven't connected to that network.
It might have spread through that network though.

Depending on the malware a factory reset will not remove it. In fact most malware cant be removed that way. You have to flash the whole device to get rid of it.

In my opinion after starting all over again as you've already been told, you should do all that you did before and monitor each step with patience and concentration to actually understand what's behind this... This may help out

As he said. Here is what I would do if I was in your place. Anyone got any extra steps to add feel free to chime in. This would kinda suck for a bit.
You will need a custom recovery. And a bit of time to set up
1. Take everything off device.
2. Format full device in recovery. Not factory reset. Format system, data, internal storage and both caches.
3. Flash complete stock firmware.
4. Get root before rebooting
5. Reboot, do not connect to wifi during set up. Do not restore anything.
6. Get Catlog from the play store and run it.
7. Then continue set up. Wifi and ect. Scan backed up files with a pc virus scan but only return what you really need.
8. When restoring from TIBU install apps fresh from the market and restore data only to apps. (sucks I know but only way to be sure) make sure to delete old back and redo.
Then monitor catlog. This will tell you everything going on. You would be able to figure it out.

If you would've read it fully than you'll know that the case is far bigger than what you're thinking it is

S9+, Android 10, Nova Launcher, Recents button isn't working..

So I run the S9+ on Xfinity Mobile. When I got the phone I uninstalled just about everything Samsung (per bloatware removal instructions here). Everything is great. With each update some stuff may come back so I uninstall it again.
Android 10 came, and everything works fine except the recents button on my home screen. I usually open recents to either close a program or quickly switch to another program. I also use it to split screen 2 apps at once.
Any ideas what to do?
I guess you uninstalled stock launcher/samsung experience/one ui.That would be why this happens.

this is the cringiest thing people say when troubleshooting. Ive been in leadership positions at 2 different companies in the tech support dept and when helping customer service reps, if someone told me that a customer told them exactly what you responded with, i would either just walk away (jokingly, then turn around and explain that it doesnt matter) or (if they were new) id gently tell them that people say this all the time and that it having worked prior is normally irrelevant. Uninstalling those is the same as uninstalling touchwiz on a touchwiz based ROM, youre begging for trouble doing that.

Cringy - Usually classified by seeing something and feeling extremely embarrassed.
Why would you be embarassed? That's a stupid word to use.
Anyway, I know it can be risky, but I'm not begging for trouble. I've been using this phone since 2018 without 99% of the Samsung stuff using this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...-bloatware-youd-recommend-to-rid-off-t3759500
Anyway, I'ma get ready to factory reset the phone, run update, then remove everything and be back to normal.
Definitely not irrelevant. That's like saying "Gestures used to work, but now they don't".
Anyway, I did a factory reset, update, proceeded to uninstall everything again.. all good. Just takes a few hours.. to set every setting back up again, etc.

its far from a stupid word to use, and youre reply now falls into that same category. Go to urban dictionary and read their definition of cringey. And read past the first sentence where examples are given. it goes a little something like this "Cringy Someone or something that makes you embarrassed to be a part of the human race. Usually classified by seeing something and feeling extremely embarrassed, throwing your head back and closing your eyes to block your view of the cringy media, and biting your lip to keep in your scream of utter disgust. In some cases, a person viewing cringy media may also feel an almost unbearable feeling of wanting to (insert horrible act here). The first example shows usage of the word that defies the first definition. When attempting to help someone with anything really and the person youre helping says "well ive always done it this way and its never been a problem before", i guarantee you that 99% of the helpers in those situations have either facepalmed or very much wanted to. Cringey, plain and simple. Something or someone that usually makes one cringe.
