Me too, except koster's rom, i haven't found any rom that works with usb car charger! the reason is he used the original wm5 drivers in his rom. I wish somebody use his rom as a base rom and add Touchflo and cubes to it.

I don't know but my phone charges with my car charger no softreset was needed

mine works in car...no probs at all
gullum.. this ROM rocks hard great job!

I flashed the new V6 4MB rom, can't charge by car.
It charged 2% and once I start using it, it stop charging. Battery Status shows this.
Will try the 8MB Pagepool to see if there's a difference.

My charges in my car, and others cars of course. No problems here.

From what I know; the led is not turning red while charging thru usb but it does charge eventually.

it's the same for me, no charge in the car. that's really bad because it makes it impossible to use the phone as a navigation system - after 3 hours it's empty.
i will have to go back to wm5, when I can't find a solution for that and I love gullums rom, it's perfect.
any suggestions??
greets, david

Try doing a soft-reset while the USB cable is plugged in and charging. I've had similar problems with other ROMs and this approach appeared to work. There seems to be some other posts around that mention the same solution.

thanks a lot, it works!!

Hi! That's why you plugged it on your pc before connecting your prophet to your lighter plug. Try softreseting before pluging it in your car, and so you can be 100% sure that this works without that trick.
cheers

Sometimes i also have this problem ... i haven't yet found a way to reproduce it, but sometimes i need to soft reset to be able to charge via USB. Also when this happens, i notice that it "discharges" the phone while connected to the usb. After doing the soft-reset, all works fine. I havent tested in-car.

Hi people,
can someone try to charge in the car with a 5V - 1000mA charger?
I'm thinking that the problem may be with the type of charger and not the ROM...
The wall charger is also 1000mA, typically the car chargers are 500mA.
Hope to ear something from you. Thanks all!

I just had a look at mine and it's 5V and 2A so I hope it wan't coock my phone but it works

OK ... some Answers!
The Car Charger Problem is a known error! This error have all WM6 Cooked Roms with the Battfix.cab. The only Rom without this error is Kosters Rom with Original WM5 Prophet Drivers!
Copy the Driver and Reg settings from Koster Rom and it works too :->
About 2A Chargers ... guys ... this is only a Powersupply! If the internal Charger can Charge with more then 500mAh and the Powersupply can handle it ... it charge with more mAh!!! Prophet and other device can only handle 600mAh ~ 700mAh. Its a Hardware based Limit!
Only Original Prophet Drive can switch the Powercontroller/Chargingcontroller in the Speedcharging modus.

no ... if i know this i can tell!
i am not a romcooker ... i only read this board and know a lot of errors and koster have tell his change and why they use wm5 driver.

Hi,
I'am so happy to read that ! but now you must give all your information What's the process ? it's during the cook or can we do it after ?
Thanks
edit : ok i've just read your last post

Same problem
I had found the same problem - not charging via usb charger. The interesing point, that if you re-connect again in short period of time, it will charge. Now if you will use GPRS, WiFi, browser , close apps. - charging from charger will not work until SR. I belive, that because each resource hungry process will change a battery driver setting (and as you know, we are living with uncompatible bat driver)

this is a known problem since wm6 roms are cocked form wizard.

i think i blew my xda to kingdom come

XDA was working fine - i stupidly plugged in my old Nokia charger to the XDA connector and charged it up - i thought everything was OK.
NOW - the PDA side works fine - but the phone will not work - i can dial a number it will say calling - then say call ended and just stop.
The phone works fine when plugged to the charger - i have tried decharging the battery and recharging from scratch - but no good.
Any ideas?
Should i try and find a new internal battery.
Any opinions will be gratefully accepted
Thanks
Hmm
Hello Fox321.
Can you pls post the technical specs of this Nokia Charger ?
This will surely help our xda-tech-pro's to check this matter.
However, if the PDA side is working well, it let's me a little in doubt that charging will have caused this problem.
Have you already checked to take out your SIM card and re-insert it ?
How about a cold reset ?
Have you looked at the phone settings - Network ?
Can you make a automatic and/or manual Network scan ?
Does it show a"current network" ?
Can you post as well your device informations for the ROM and RSU Version ?
Posting problems adding as much informations about the device and the issue itself will help finding a (possible) quick solution.
How did you manage to plug a nokia charger in to the xda, I never knew you could, all nokias I have seen have an ordinary mini jack plug.
simply just plug the charher (mini jack) into the xda charger (adapter) plug. should be no problem with a nokia 6150 charger. same voltage only a lower amper.
I agree the problem sounds more like a broken SIM. Try using another SIM.
nokiachargers can only deliver 800ma
xda charger gives out 5volts at 1 amp
nokia charger can blast out 4.5volts all the way up to 9.5 volts
so if it did it wouldnt really effect your gsm part of the phonas its charging your battery not the signal lol

22pin connector for MDA/XDA III anywhere?

Hi!
Anyone fonud out until now where to get the 22pin connector for the MDA/XDA III device? It has changed a bit from the iPAQ 3800 style, so accessoires for I/II won´t work
Furthermore, has the pinout changed?
What I need is a cable for connecting my GPS-reciever, or the parts to build one.
Thanks in advance,
Danyel
OH NO, you are saying that the MDA II accessoried, chargers, etc., won't work with the MDA III?
Well, it looks like that...
I have an USB-sync-cable, car charger and my GPS-reciever. Without forcing the plug it won´t fit into the new connector.
The new one has a gab on one side and two little pits wich fit into gaps in the devices connector.
I´ll post a picture of the old and the new one... MDA III´s camera is not quite good for macro-photos.
Well, I have "reconfigured" my old GPS- and USB-cable. It´s just takeing away some of the plastic on the connector. Both cables work fine for the MDA III now, take a look at the picture:

Therefor you´ll need a USB to serial converter, as far as I know.

22 pin adaptor for QTEK 9090
hi, you need original connector you can try with 2020 22 pin but after some days or week you will damage you QTEK 9090 and you not be able to use anymore the connector! i suggest you to buy ORIGINAL see here available : http://www.bluetrade.fr/achat/produit_details.php?id=76226
i hope i'm logged in now!
to dev_dme you missunderstood me? i have an usb gps mouse so i need a seriell one. and there are no converter from seriell to usb.

i think i posted in fals thread. i have a qtek 2020!!!! no 9090.
There are USB to serial converters made by Iogear, search the web. You would have to redue the cable to connect to your Qtek. But since you have bluetooth, though the old one away and get a blue tooth GPS, much nicer.
converters from usb TO seriell but not from seriell TO usb. i'm right?
The USB driver was on laptop to change the port to a serial port but the communication was bidirectional.
You could also look at maxim semiconductors, I know they make a chip that converts serial to USB but I couldn't find it.
http://www.maxim-ic.com
but i need usb to seriel converter..... i want to use an usb device at a seriell port
They have a device, I saw it in EE Times twice (as I said I need that) that will do exactly what your looking for. It would connect to a USB device, takecare of all the protocal and then spit out serial bits of the data. I beleive the formating (USB-serial bin/ASCII, bit ording) was able to be changed via reg settings.
maybe search EE times website.

Well, your GPS mouse is a USB client (slave). You can only connect it to a USB host (master), which the XDA II is not. So you would need an adapter that contains a USB host. As paulmc says, they seem to exist, but seem to work only with "big" Windows (they need drivers), and I am quite sure they are really expensive.
I really recommend you get either a Bluetooth or a regular serial GPS mouse. Both are easy to connect to an XDA II.
Cheers, Daniel

1. There are several. Try www.pocketnavigation.de for a start.
2. There are voltage regulators you can buy. But be very careful, the voltage in a car is full of spikes and other nasty things. You need a good voltage regulator if you don't want to endanger your new Holux. The usual solution is to buy a holder for the PDA that also has a connector for the GPS mouse. This gives you a well filtered voltage for your mouse.
Cheers, Daniel

Does anyone know if the pin-setup for the 'blue angel' aka Qtek9090 is different then the 'Himalaya' aka Qtek2020?
I want to connect an external speaker and microphone to it (described here) but i'm not sure if the pin-layout is the same
Thanks!

anyone found the pinout for QTEK9090(Blue Angel) yet ?

Keyboard & charger

If you are traveling and need to use GPS, but maps are loaded on a external card and you have your viewpad charging on lighter outlet.
or (my case) you have some serious amount of text to write and you need the keyboard connected as well as your wall mount charger....
Is there any known way to connect the battery charger and a peripheral as keyboard or usb mass storage device at the same time?
I'm thinking about some surgery to the usb-to-miniusb converter that I use to connect my desktop type keyboard to the viewpad, but don't know what could happen to the usb device or the keyboard. Neither know which of the 5 pins (contacts) of the charger is the active one...
Any suggestions?
Tnx in advance.
anothe question....
Ok... since there is no answer over 24hrs, I'll make another question to make this a little more interesting for you people could help me...
Is there any chance to connect a keyboard (already working) plus a SD card at the same time??
I'm making some fun stuff with a keyboard and making some surgery I could install some kind of "external USB Port" on the keyboard.... but, should it work?? I mean, keyboard and flash memory together, connected to one-single miniUSB port....
Developers.... any suggestion??
Thnx again...
Forgett to say.... on Viewpad7 with FROYO 2.2.1
Another idea
Ok, easy people... That bunch of comments about my topic make s me feel kind dizzy...
Just kidding....
Making some research (on goggle, haha!!), I've found that USB port on a pc have a 5volt-500mA output... So, if that's nominal out and that power could charge the viewpad AND don't turn on smoke any peripheral, Then I just have to connect power out on a wall-mount charger to the 1st pin (wire) of a 5 contact miniUSB, regarding on the power out put on 500mA.
(thanks isIran for your assistance )
now... PLEASE SOMEONE STOP ME IF I'M HAVING SOME IDIOTIC, TABLET BRICKING, IDEA!!!!
Thnx again
Hi,
The Viewpad wall charger have a non standard conector, if you look in the contact part you will see double connection.
In the main charger body you will find the pinout:
Pin 1 & 6 +, pin 5 & 10 -
These pins (6&10) are longer than the data pins to ensure that the power connections mate first and un-mate last.
The wall charger is 2 A and the USB PC port only 0.5A (0.9A for USB3)
For this reason a wall charger change in 2 hours and a PC USB in 15 hours.
A dedicated USB charger should short the 2 data lines together. The device will then not attempt to transmit or receive data, but can draw up to 1.8A
for this reason the device know when it's connected to a computer or to a dedicated charger (like a Garmin GPS)
Probably modifiying a connector (or keyboard) to provide energy and data will work.
Did you try a USB hub?
Less us know the result of your experience.
cheers
You could solve the keyboard problem by using a bluetooth keyboard and you can charge the tab on the USB port at the same time.

Right, this solve one problem, but is much expensive and less fun... Besides, didn't solve the flash drive plus charger issue...
About pins 6 &10... Just noticed that (in over a year never look that closer the charger pin).
I'll try usb hub, but I'm afraid to burn some flash drive or worst...
Thanx for your interest and helpful advice...

[Q] Charging Issue - MHL/HDMI Adapter Samsung s3 lte

Hi All,
I was wondering if anyone had any insights in to this problem I have been having.
Briefly, I have the 4g lte verion on EE's new network. I purchased the official MHL/HDMI adapter which works fine and the video is outputed to my sammy 50inch tv fine. The issue I have is the battery drains while doing so. I belive this may to due to the phone outputting more than it is drawing from the power source. Any thoughts ?
I spoke with Samsung tech and they said a number of people have started to report this issue and they are currently testing/investigating. If this is indeed the case seems a pointless acessory as a long video would possibly drain the whole battery, Im yet to test the full drain time.
Secondly, with a 3rd party docking cradle with spare battery slot which purchased from amazon (http://www.amazon.co.uk/eLifeStore®-Samsung-Desktop-Charger-Docking/dp/B008PPRGFY) also does not charge phone properly. Even with the orignial charger in the ac port (or usb port) . The phone reports as charging but stays the same or decreases. Charged directly from the socket it is fine. Strange!
Any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Ian
It's common. Mine did that too! I switched to my old S2 charger, problem solved
Thanks Ill try that out, any idea why that works ?

No idea man? A design fault maybe? All I know is that my phone took for f#*%ing ever to charge with the USB type wall charger. I pulled it out of the socket and plugged my other other one in that was sitting right next to it and it started charging? Checked a few minutes later and it had climbed considerably so I pulled the USB cable out of the new plug and kicked it under the bed where it now lays resting not to be used again LOL.
USB plug/cord works perfectly fine? So I use it on the computer. My laptop even charges the phone via the USB cable faster than the socket plug (which is usually the opposite - as I am sure we are all aware). So yeah I would say poor design or defective wall plug or both or something? Wasn't going to send my phone back because of it. 2second decision problem solved Samsung phone is great!
Im having exactly the same problem.
I have an s3 on orange and have the same mhl adapter conected to my tv.
I have tried the charger from my s3 which does says its charging when I connect my phone but only for about a minute so I also tried using the charger from my s2 and that just does exactly the same.
An easier way is to buy the official allshare dongle for your hdtv then you can stream anything from your phones screen direct to your tv and can have the phone on charge via pc or wall socket at the same time,
Hope this helps
i suggest you throw away your original charger (slow charge) and its usb cable (loose - actually caused the extsd to become damaged to the point i had to repartition) and buy yourself a cheap usb cable for data (£2) and a 3rd party charger (pref not a usb adapter one - £5) and all should be fine!
I still experienced a small battery drain while using the mhl adapter, however, i froze a few apps with titianuim (ones i know run all the time like utter and tasker, paragon ntfs, easy ums, directory bind etc), and put it on min brightness - works like a charm. I know its a effort freezing apps but does the trick with my phone... Since finding that out i actually keep paragon & easy ums frozen till i need them...
just a few thoughts for you....

Phone starts glitching when connecting with USB

When i plug my phone to my cars radio via USB, the phone starts glitching(It lags, freezes, tops charging then starts again), until i remove the connection.
Why does this happen? I can't listen to music in my car then?

i have gltches in my RN3, dont know what to do about it.

in my case not involved in connecting it to the car radio.
Use a different and a Good quality usb cable and a charger...like a Samsung Charger or something, dont use cheap ones.
For me,stock charger works perfectly but when i use cheap charger, the glitch happens.
It usually happens due to this.

The connection between usb port of charger and the usb end of the wire, and between microusb port of device and microusb end of the wire....any one of that is causing troubles.
This is completely normal to FACE DURING charging..
But if u aren't connected to charger,then that's strange.
Try reflashing the whole miui fw via edl,
if that doesnt solve the issue, then probably it's something related to hardware, head on to service center then.....
