for two days I finally got my bluetooth-activesync to work, which just wouldn't want to work in the past. remove the bluetooth dongle, search google for a howto about how to make old devices visible inside the windows device manager, remove everything bluetooth related, com ports, the devices and the network related stuff. then reinstall the bluetooth dongle, let windows install all the driver . when this is finished you can follow the procedure described in the activesync helpfile about how to create an outgoing com port etc.
you should be just fine, as I said I could never make it work until I cleared out all the junk that windows likes to collect and carefully hides from you ;-) thats windows folks.
hope this will work for you, too.
thanks for the message, but i cant find the article on google..im using a built in bluetooth btw.....can u PM me with the directions ? really appreciate it if u can help...

I am considering purchasing the T-Mobile Pocket PC Phone. I need the ability to connect a wireless device to my laptop while I travel. Can I connect the T-Mobile pocket pc phone to my laptop? If so, do I need a cable for that or can I do it via IR?
Thanks,
Brian
Wireless modem on XDA is serial cable or irda. Be sure to disable activesync before and connect your phone to laptop before pushing the "start", button.
So will W2K automatically detect it as a modem?
Well, actually not really. Regarding the infra red connection, I had to install first a virtual infra red port (http://www.cyber-mill.com/irdaw2k.zip), and then install on it the standard 33.6 Modem.
If you want, I can post how to do this, step by step, and it works.

in this thread there is an url to a pdf which explane how you do it step by step
USING XDA AS A MODEM
example for GPRS connection
Before installation, note carefully (for your GPRS connection):

Your username and password
PS: if you don't know the access point name, open -on your device- settings/connections/internet settings
press on modify... then press on your GPRS connection
press on next: you will see the access point name.
Preliminary step: for infrared use only (skip for serial connection)
unzip irdaw2k (download from: http://www.cyber-mill.com/irdaw2k.zip)
click on setup, wait till end of installation
open your pc control panel/system/hardware/device manager
Click on ports and note on what port the infrared virtual com is installed (example: com5)
Step one: installing modem
open control panel/phone and modem options
choose modems tab. click add...
check don't detect modem
select from standard modem types: standard 33600bps
click next. install on selected port (com5 in this example)
after end of installation, click on properties for the modem
on tab Modem, confirm maximum speed 115200
on advanced, extra initialization type: AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","xxx","",0,0
where xxx is the access point name of your network provider
select change default preferences
change flow control to none
clik OK to finish
Step two: setup the network
In control panel/network connections/ select file/new connection
select connect the internet, then manual setup
choose connect using modem. confirm the standard 33600bps
Give a name to the ISP
Choose: *99# as phone number.
write your username and password
do not use dialing rules
Step three: using XDA
Make sure activesync is disabled
Once connected through serial port or facing IR
Open wireless modem. choose connection (serial or IR)
click on start
wait for confirmation of connection on PC
Start dial-up from PC
ps: during this time, GSM phone line is disconnected
It reconnects automatically after disconnecting the modem
Is there an apk or other mod out there that adds genuine USB tethering to the Vibrant on JI6? The myTouch3G just got a 2.2 update that adds an option to tether under "Wireless and Network Settings".
I don't want apps, and I don't want paid programs running, I just want a native USB tethering solution. None of this Wifi bs either, I need a desktop PC online, NOT my laptop.
Thanks

Eugenes key mapped froyo has native USB Tethering but that rom kills battery life like crazy .
You can do USB tethering through Dial Up Networking. Install the Samsung drivers, enable USB debugging on the phone, then create a DUN connection in Windows. You have to add this string into the initialization settings of the modem:
AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","epc.t-mobile.com"

I was using that on JFD, but it's broken now on JI6. On JI6, it just breaks the data connection and I have to power-cycle my Vibrant to get it back.

As I mentioned in my OP, I didn't want to have a program running on the desktop.
There are threads in general for doing it. The computer sees it as a dialup connection. I didn't even have to install drivers on osx or linux. Windows needs the drivers, but no apps.

Hi ttabbal, what did you do to get it running in linux. I thought one would just enable debugging, plug it in and automatically tethering begins.
Could you explain a lil further.

Yeah, I was doing that on JFD (shipping firmware) but it's broken on JI2/4/6. Querying the modem gives back a "Success" reply, but trying to initialize it fails - it also kills the data radio on the phone till you reboot the phone, too.
Dial-up networking still works on mine, and I'm on the latest OTA, JI6. I'm using it to tether to my XP computer via a usb cable.
Step 1 - install Samsung drivers (instructions abound, run a search)
Step 2 - set to USB Debugging Mode
Step 3 - Plug in phone (wait for all drivers to install, now that the phone is plugged in;
Step 4 - In Windows XP, go to Start, Control Panel, Network Connections
Step 5 - Select Create a New connection from the menu on the left
Step 6 - Select, Next, Next, 'Setup my connection manually,' Next,
Step 7 - check only the box next to Samsung Android USB Modem, Next, name it whatever you like
Step 8 - Enter '*99#'
Step 9 - Next
Step 10 - Populate username as 'wap' and password with 'password'
Step 11 - uncheck the bottom checkbox
Step 12 - Next and/or Finish
Step 13 - Close the pop-up window that comes up.
Step 14 - Return to Control Panel
Step 15 - Double-click 'Phone and Modem Options'
Step 16 - Select the 'Modems' tab
Step 17 - Select the Samsung Android USB Modem that you selected in Step 7
Step 18 - Click 'Properties,' click the 'Modem' tab,
Step 19 - In the Maximum Port speed area, the highest speed, probably, 921600
Step 20 - Selet the 'Advanced' tab, and paste the below in the blank:
AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","epc.t-mobile.com"
Step 21 - Click ok, ok, all the way out.
Return to Network Connections in Control Panel, and find in the list, the name of the connection you created. It will be the name you gave it in step 7.
Double click that connection, of course with the phone plugged in, and select 'Connect.' You should be all set.
I just followed these steps, as I was typing them, to create new connection, and it worked.
Also, you can right-click the connection in Network Connections, and select 'Create Shortcut,' to have a shortcut to the connection, placed on your desktop.
I am on a windows 7 device. Step number 20 doesn't work for me. Under Advance tab I cannot input anything. Please help.

I'm using Ubuntu, and they provide a nice little config app for the network connections. I just told it I wanted a dial up connection, it detected my phone attached and even had good defaults for TMobile. When I want it, I click the little status bar icon and select the cell connection. It does the rest.
I just install update-cm-9-20120422-NIGHTLY-tenderloin-signed
after that, TP can not connect to PC thought USB cable, got error message (driver can not install)
where can I download TP driver ?

Maybe is a driver problem?? Can anyone give me some help??
Have you tried uninstalling the Palm Drivers from your Control Panel => Add/Remove Programs (XP) or Programs and Features (Win 7) ?
You wanna remove anything that says PALM or novacom from those lists, then reinstall them. Personally, I use the WebOS QuickInstall to get the drivers installed properly, but that's just me.
Can charge amazfit Stratos but WINDOWS 7 & 10 PC's don't detect my amazfit Stratos
As title says I can charge my watch but it can't connect to Windows 10. When i connect it with my PC and laptop(windows 10 & 7) via usb cable they don't recognize it as hard disk in order to download watch faces ans so on. I have unpared it and then pared it again but id did not solve the problem.
Any ideas and thank you in advance for your help.
There is "magic way" to fix this: either physical connection works and you have a driver problem os hardware is damaged.
Open Device Manager or whatever you use to detect new hardware connected to your computer, and connect the watch. If nothing is detected, check: both metallic pins on watch and charger (clean them with a toothpick or brush, use isopropyl they are very dirty, then dry carefully before trying to connect again), cable/charger (use another of if available), USB port and finally computer. If nothing works then probably the internal contacts are damaged, you can only fix this by opening the watch. But you can use adb via WiFi to connect to watch and exchange files/install apps.
Amazfit Stratos is terrible when it comes to pc connection. I still haven't been able to make my pc recognize it, despite trying all sort of methods, yet my Amazfit Pace is being recognized without any issue.
Sent from my SM-G955F using Tapatalk
If nothing of the above works, you can also use "Amazfit Tools" to install watch's drivers on your PC.
And do try at least an other cable and clean the contacts.

Thank you very much but it didn't work so I gave it back.
HI:
I had the same problem and finally able to solve the problem, follow this steps:
1. Download the Universal ADB driver here (https://adb.clockworkmod.com/#)
2. Install it
3. Go the the configuration>devices>devices and printers
4. If you smartwatch amazfit stratos is connected to your pc, is shown in other devices.
5. Rigth click and go to the properties menu
6. Go to the hardware tab and click in properties button
7. Click in change configuration button
8. Go tho the tab driver and click in driver update button
9. In this step search manually the driver in the folder where was installed the Universal ADB driver (usually is this route C:\Program Files (x86)\ClockworkMod\Universal Adb Driver\usb_driver\i386)
10. In the window that show up, select the Universal USB Composite driver (or something like that, I don't remember the sepcific text, just do not select the nexus driver...)
11. Accept the new instalation and ready, your stratos device appear in your files explorer.
Note: I use this in Windows 10 64 Bits Version:1909
I hope it works for you!
These instructions worked for me and yes you are right about the correct selection being USB Composite Device.
Thanks a lot
Thanks

LoL What?? No
Make sure that your Android phone is set to "Media device (MTP)" mode when connected to the computer. To do this, connect your phone to the computer via USB, then swipe down on your phone's notification panel and tap on the "USB" notification. From there, select "File transfer" or "Media device (MTP)".
Also, enable USB Debugging on Your Android Phone.
Go to Control Panel then Device manager then Portable Device wher you will find your device with exclamation ( ! ) mark. Right Click on it, update driver --- Browse my computer for driver -- Let me pick from a list --- select MTP USB Device -- Next
Probably you will be now able .....
