be warned battery and reset at 20% etc on wm6 - JAMin, XDA Neo, S200 ROM Development

people with wm6 whose battery is more than 11 months old who get a reset at 20% or anytime other than less than 4 % should change their battery , which should solve part one of the problem (because its a common symptom when batteries get old they loose amperes fast and when they dont generate that amount of current the handset resets even at 20% or 45% etc depending on bad condition of battery) ,
another part2 of problem is battery reverse charging which i observed in cross 4.00.5b ,my battery being healthy and new put on chrger seemed to be charging backwards if i keep my handset on while being on charger but turn backlight off,and this is not a good sign ,which indicated either system files needed to keep log of battery are of a handset which is not htc prophet or wm6 does not support battery hardware of prophet properly , although wm6 might support this processor but what is the use of having a ferrari when there is a hole in the fuel tank and it wont run for even a mile.
part3 battery seems to drain faster means again battery logs are not storing properly
part4 battery not seeming to charge fast again prompts to dll files for battery dont seem to support hardware
it is assumed in wm6 rom that it would be so efficient that battery would charge 2 times fast and would also drain 3 times less here

I have battery status with the dynamic 123, 175, 208, so that helps my battery also.

actualy that does not help your battery because when using cpu scaling the batter will keep draining when you don't use your phone because the cpu keeps working to keep the clock down at 123Mhz..

Battery Life with New ROM 20060426

I am getting very poor battery life.
The battery drains within 24 Hrs to a dead phone.
Is it normal? I have heard, people talking about a battery life of 3-4 days.
What can I do to correct this problem.

I, too, had terrible battery life once I upgraded. I had heard that sometimes if you flash the ROM again over the last time it improves the life. I was skeptical ... until I did it last night.
My device was still at 94% when I woke this morning, and by 5pm this afternoon had only dropped to 87%. I have never had such great battery life! Never!
Give it a try. Can't hurt.

I tried reflashing the ROM, but it did not had an impact on the battery backup.
Do I need to take care of something while reflashing it.

i am having the same problem...i also reflashed...but it seems like the device doesnt go to standby mode after 'x' minutes of inactivity as selected in the power options. is the same thing happening with u 2?

have tried recharging your atom for 8 hours when you first bought it? try it. it worked for me. it extended my batt's life
Yes, I am using O2 Plus, also, I think charging of Li-Poly Batteries does not require to be charged for 8 Hrs. Infact it may result into over charging.
By the way, I am getting precisely 24 Hrs of backup when using PUSH email support with Ms Exchange Server.

check the manual.. it says there u need to fully charge the atom for 8 hours.. that's for the initial charging. i also called one of the reps in the service center for atom here in the phils and that was waht he told me to do. cheers mate

I have poor battery life as well. Unit is discharge within 12 hours.
I have a whole lot of applications installed, so after I've reinstalled the ROM, I'd my backup fully restored.
I am wondering if that's a mistake as it might also "restore" the issue with the battery life. Anyone has advise on this matter?

Btw, it's said many times that plug-ins that probes hardware needs extra battery power ie. memory/battery/storage. I've none of those plugins and even on a2dp stereos, the battery only drops from 100 to 80+ on few hours of mp3s. Some players can switch off your backlight and still continue playing mp3s ie. WM10/TCPMP, see their button assignment options. You might also wanna remove that battery icon on the top right through the registry. Set the backlight 10secs, slider to 1-4 and power down 1min helps me alot too.

Battery Died on me
hey the battery was low, and i plugged it into the computer jack (to synchronize), which was supposed to rechareg the battery, an hour later, it beeped saying battery was too low, and was shutting down. and it shut off completely.
now i am rechanging with the charger, and the amber light is on.... but after 30 mins of charging, i still can't turn on the phone.
when i try, the green light seem to flash onmce every 30 seconds....... and i have put it back in the charger
when it completely discharges, do i have to fully recharge before i can switch it on?
Atom Manual Help
Well, after getting fed up with my poor Atom's battery life, I checked out the manual to see what it said about battery life. It does say to charge the battery for 8 hours intially, and for the first 3 charges after that you must drain it completely then recharge it fully--for a total of 3 times. Okay, so I did this and I haven't noticed a difference (I know others say you aren't supposed to do this with a Li-Ion battery but it's in the manual!).
Anyone else tried this?
The only other thing I haven't tried was reflashing (reloading the ROM).
It seems this issue is the bane of the Atom.

Battery Drain
I already wrote about this in some other forum but this the same problem with my O2 with Bluetooth not more then 8 hours max. Without bluetooth. 20 to 24 hours.
I never leave any application running I use the memory settings to close all applications.
I still do not find any diff. I have closed the IR, I have reduced the backlight time to 10 Secs. I have reduced the backlight to 3. No change.
I have already complained about this to O2 but no result. They are probably stuck with Windows people not supporting them or with no solution. They are not even responding now on this issue. TOOOOO BAD

Flash the ROM exactly as per the procedure. Normally the last part is not read properly. After the ROM is flashed they ask to reset the device twice. One time a Hard Reset and another time a soft reset before you load the data and programs. If you follow the procedure properly maybe you will solve the battery problem like me and many others.
If you are using bluetooth switch it off and check you will come to know the exact battery life. Secondly in settings keep IR off. Backlight a bit low 3 or 4 as you get proper vision, without reflection and most of all saves battery. Most important close all programs by going to Settings>Memory>close all so that all applications will close and not consume the battery. This is a windows software flaw which needs correction but no one does anything for it, not even microsoft.

[Q] Extended Battery - accurate android percentage and discharge?

I am using Hastarins 7.6 kernel with ext batt support and Froyostones 3.2 build (Most recent as of Oct 23)
I have done some extensive research, although, i have not yet figured out a way to get an accurate reading, in android, of my extended battery (life percentage)
I have calibrated my battery (charged to 100% w/ phone on, shut off phone and charged until green light, then booted android, then turned off and charged again until green, then turned on and booted android) only to find out that the battery discharges at the same rate as with the original battery all the way down to 0%.... but does not recognize that the battery holds twice as much power. so really, the 100% battery drains to 0% on extended battery but does not recognize that the battery still holds 50% of its power left
i have never deleted my "batterystats.bin" Because i can't find the file anywhere using a root explorer and even recovery, although, i was told that this step is not necessary in calibration.
I have current widget and my draw is around 60mA on standby with BOTH original and extended batteries but It seems the android OS cannot get accurate readings on the extended battery? It cannot multiply the battery meter by 2 so that the drainage is reciprocal to the larger battery, thus resulting in a slower drain (like 10%/hour drain with original battery would equal 5%/hour drain on extended) ?
correct me if i'm wrong somebody please, or am i missing a step (besides deleting the batterstats.bin which i cannot find out how to do even after downloading recovery)

i've got the same problem with a cameron sino 2400 mah battery, but not only on android! i also got the problem on windows mobile (on every radio and rom version).
after removing the battery out of the device, it will show the right percentage of the remaining batterypower, but the batteryindicator is still falling in the speed of the normal battery.
i couldn't find any solution yet, but maybe it's a battery internal problem of the chip inside the battery.
it looks like the device is reloading the battery-chip-data only when plugging in the battery.

have you recallibrate your battery? Let it drain till 0%, and keep try to turn device on until totally no vibrate, then charge to 100% after 100% turn phone off and charge till green light, unplug and charge with phone off for a few times.

i have read from anywhere else in the internet, that most people got that problem with chinese extended batterys.
one of that guys ordered a 2300mah extended battery from the manufacturer leicke - looks like it is maybe the same as the original one and he said, the new battery dont have the problem anymore and is working correct.
i ordered the same battery yesterday (for 21,- euro) and i will test it myself. i think the problem is the chip inside the chinese batterys, that will tell the device its a small one.
by the way, my cameron sino 2400mah battery is made of two small batterys that are linked.
i disassembled it!

update: now i've got the leicke 2300mah battery with backcover and metal kickstand.
cover is fitting 100% and all looks and feels like its made of high quality.
the batterydraining ist detected correct and i dont have to remove the battery to see the current chargelevel.
the problem was that chinese crappy battery!
only one thing for androidusers: because of the most kernels don't support the extended batterys (temperature is reportet wrong and android is shutting down after booting), you need to change to a kernel like hastarin 7.7 or 7.8 that is supporting the extended batterys.
overclocking of the hastarin linux kernel work with overclock-apps, so there is no need for an overclocked kernel.
i'm very happy with that battery and it cost only 21 euro over amazon in germany.
i will never get a cheap chinese battery again

yes, they do contain microcontroller
cheap chinese ripoffs often are just badly designed, made from low-cost cells and are very dangerous to use
So don't be surprised if your 'OEM' seico, chinapower, mugen, or whatever name doesn't hold promised charge or even work as original battery

Ways to improve your battery Life

After googling lot on improving the battery life.. I found many ways to improve the battery life. Sharing it with you..
1. Use Auto Killers - Kill all the background processes. *
2. Use in Aeroplane Mode - while you are in out of signal area. ****
3. UnderClocking - Apps available like setCPU, OverClockWidget, cpuTuner.. sets the clock frequency to lower values when screen is off. ****
4. Undervolting - make processor to work below the standard voltage. This is kernel level configuration.. not sure how to implement..
5. Use a powerful battery - there are some batteries with more mAh which last longer. ***
6. Proper Charging - ****
turn off the phone, plug it in, preferably overnight.
boot the phone up while still plugged in.
delete the batterystats.bin file ether through adb, Root Explorer or terminal
drain the battery fully, until it powers down. wait a min or two and reboot it to completely drain it.
then your phone now knows correct voltage values for 100% and dead.
Remember: Flashing a new Android build erases the battery stats, and automatically rebuilds them based on voltages it see's.so must recondition after each flash to get max battery life.
Please Reshare your view and observation...
I was out of WCDMA range for a week over Christmas (just GSM network available) and using my phone with Wifi and a bit of Bluetooth Audio (and even a bit of angry birds!) The battery lasted for.. wait for it..
5days, 3h, 27min 29sec (I put it on Charge at 23% capacity!!) so I think I could have got 6 or even 7 days out of it (not that I would let the battery get that low on purpose)!
must be some kind of record!
and in reply to the above post about discharging the battery.... (I don't want to bore people on here with another one of my Li-po Battery care rants so I will keep it short this time)
I wouldn't recommend discharging Li-Po batteries too often, they hate it and it can significantly reduce the over all life of the battery (which would suck for the mini) I say leave the charging up to the phone and just top up regularly using a low Amp charger (USB is good or other 500mA charger, I feel the 850mA charger that came with the phone is a bit over powered) try not to let the phone discharge until it shuts off (this is triggering a safety switch to protect the battery from damage, and its not good for it)

I usually get 2 or 3 days. On days that I skype, I have to recharge. It depends a lot on usage. I guess that, if you don't use the smartphone capabilities, you will get an even longer battery time.

I was just rereading the comment of kiwi braad worst, and he might have a good point on using a low amp charger. I mostly use the charger from the usb. When I use the charger that came with the phone (850mA) I get less battery. Though, that could be placebo effect.

My experience with the X10 Mini (not PRO) is that the battery life gets better over time. It's worth discharging and recharging the battery fully a couple of times and then resuming a 'normal' charge routine - let it drop below 20 or 15% and charge it until it's 80%+ charged. When I first got my phone it needed a charge every day. Now it needs one every three or more on average. I've also found that turning off the 3G aerial (allowing GSM only) and manually selecting the network operator (preventing regular polling) helped extend the time between recharges. There are widgets available that will allow quick access to those functions when needed. I will say that I'm not an 'always-on' kinda user. It's mostly a phone/music player to me, but once or twice a day I check email, browse web etc

The two biggest things on my battery use is the display and the cell standby.
So the best way to save battery would be not to use it that often....

I Turned the brightness down and that gave me abit extra.
One very good way to save battery power is to disable vibration if possible. Vibration uses two times more battery power than ringtones due to the low frequency required by the speaker. Disable vibration and save batter power.
Use an application that can edit cpufreq, like Overclock Widget and SetCPU to reduce battery power when screen turns off
Overclock widget can set different cpu max and min speeds for when screen turned on or off.
Battery Diviner can record patterns in battery usage and change performance according to your usage.

Battery issue

Hi everybody
I've got a major battery issue with my three year old Nexus 10.
The battery indicator shows something around 75%, drops to 0 in a split second, switches in energy saving mode (notification and navigation bar are turning red) while it shuts down.
To verify I made an Automate Flow saves the battery charge every second to a text file. Result:

Okay, it thought to myself, after three years the battery is broken. So I bought a replacement battery (Samsung original) and replaced it - but nothing changed.
To clear all old stats (and running Android 6.0.1) I wiped everything TWRP offered and installed CM13 - but nothing changed.
Now my only guess is, that there's some EPROM (or other memory hardware) that stores battery stats.
Can you, dear forum, help me fixing that issue?

I'm facing the same problem here with my d6563, after the MM OTA update i started to face quick vertical battery drop, but we're not the only ones, some users are reporting this issue in a lot of devices, some of them after update, some others after rooting, some of them just after some apps update, and the thing is that nothing seems to work, some users claim to have solved the issue, but they are just talking to fast, because the problem comes back the same day, they just think taht the battery data is accurate but then the drop accurs, si, i'm starting a new thread listing all the solutions tghat senior members have recomended and failed in order to track this problem to his roots once in for all, it's been happening since kitkat at y has come worse since marshmallow

Battery _stats_ issue
I had, ummm, similar issues with my TCL S720 (in less degree) and now with TCL M2U (TCL Meme da 3N M2U AKA Alcatel Flash+) phones.
TCL M2U has 3500mAh battery capacity.
After full charge it discharge normally to ~40%. Behind 40% it is discharged to 1% for a few minutes and shuts off!
If then I charge it again to 100% then it eats about its full capacity (~3500mAh) - checked with Keweisi USB Doctor and shows 100% charge, but discharges to 40% again.
On other firmware there is similar effect but for 30% level or 15% level, it depends on firmware.
I think that the battery is OK but the charge percentage display is wrong.
Another strange thing is when I see the charge level using Ampere app. It shows i.e. 50% battery level and 3.762V voltage on the battery. Then I plug it in charger. For a short time the voltage rises to 3.8V and more but the battery level is lowered to 45%! Also if I charge the phone from discharged state then the battery level is 1% for the long time, then it quickly raise to ~30% and then shows charge process normally (almost linear). The USB Doctor show the charge process smooth almost all time (from stronger current to weaker).
So I join to the 1st post question: where is the battery's _real_ voltage level data?

Phone turning off early after battery change

Couple of weeks ago I changed battery on my phone and everything was fine until phone was at 20 percent and thats when it turns off it is happening since I replaced battery and since then I found that battery is actually 5000mah instead of 4000mah on orginal battery that came with phone. So I tought that maybe phone turns off because it thinks it is on 0 percent charge because the phone is set to use 4000mah battery and I was wondering If there is any way to modify capacity to match with the new battery and maybe that way stop the issue

Allow it to run till auto shutdown then charge to 100% three times.
Is your SOT good now? That's what really matters. If so I wouldn't worry too much about it. 20% is a good low cut off voltage as it reduces the strain on the battery.
Check the cell's full charge and auto shutdown voltages. Is the battery itself shutting down prematurely?

It is different type of battery than original new one is dual cell and SOT is better now also did charge it from shutdown to 100 three time already full charge when left charging overnight showed capacity of little less than 5000 but dont know how to check autoshutdown voltage and if battery is shutting down prematurely

Best to always go with OEM or as close a match as you can. No reason a dual cell parallel connected be superior to a single cell unless it's a different battery type. That could throw off the preset power controller values. An interesting mystery.
If your SOT is the same or better than the original battery when new I wouldn't worry about it. Especially if it causes no operational issues. Battery voltage can be seen with various 3rd party apps like DevChek and Accubattery.

Yeah but sadly there were no single cell in the shop and voltage is 3.8 but i find it little frustrating when it turns off 20 percent instead of 1 it just a little inconvenience
