Well i do not have any of your problems.. So i think you are doing something wrong.. The problem with E-mail, WLM and GPRS settings is probably because you use the stylus to soft reset the phone. This makes the phone lose all its settings. Therefore i would suggest you use a program like PsShutXP. This program can soft reset like when you use the stylus, but it writes your changes to the registry before it resets, which makes your phone not loose your settings.. I had the same problem like you untill i began using psshutxp.
You could also just make a clean shutdown as soon as you have done your changes. Just hold the shut down button until a warning comes up, and then answer yes.. Then turn back on..

RE
What about WM6 stop responding. You have to use the pen for reset. This will may cause loosing those settings. This is not an acceptable solution. I use soft reset programs and it is true but othewise...
I have to reinstall everithing all the time. I'm loosing my patience. No one is able to remedy that problem?

Hi guys,
I am sure that you all know about MS WIndows, if you push the reset button on your computer, the running application and data will be lost.
Do the same with ur PDA, Just close your application after you used it (using task manager or something else), so if it is freeze your data still available in your PDA.
I hope it might be helped.
sorry if i have mistaken

I haven't seen anyrom yet that lets you be able to do this. But just make your changes (GPRS settings, WLM settings and more) and then shut down the device and after that turn it on again. Then you cant lose those settings.. And if it freezes, use the stylus, the settings that you have changed before the normal shutdown will still be saved.

RE
I know that but with one single notification... On PDA, mail is everytime opened and cannot be closed. Once you reset the device, will loose mail settings. All the data setting in your mail are stored in "cemail.vol". This cannot be saved because is opened all the time.

ProphetTouch - Async4.5 - Not enough mem

Hi there,
I flashed Prophet Touch 4MB. Great Rom.
One big problem - I cannot sync my contacts with Outlook and
Active sync 4.5. I always get the nasty error - Not enough memory on the PDA (or something like that). What is that? Is there a solution for that problem? I really need the contacts for my business!!
No additional software intstalled pure Prophet Touch - Nothing changed at all.
Second thing:
Wireless Lan works - connected - but i cannot open internet pages with IE!
Thanks in advance

Most probably you have a lot ot opened programs - go to settings->memory and close everything. For the wireless connection the problem might be caused by proxy settings
Thanks,
But of course I closed all programs/everything. I even closed the phone connection and closed the comm-Manager. No change.
Still not enough memeory on the PDA
For the Wireless Lan - What do you mean with Proxy settings?
I don´t use any proxy. Not before - not now
Thanks

You need to do a HARD RESET
easy way of doing it is go to
Start ----> Settings -----> system-----> Clear Storage -----> type 1234 in the box and press yes -----> now phone restarts and sets up again and everything will work...

If you have closed everything than I really cant tell you more. I am using the 8 mb version and it is syncing fine. I suggest you try it. Now for the proxy settings - just look in settings->connections->connections and see if there is a proxy in there. Battery status plugin has also an option somewhere which disables proxy wen WLAN is switched on. Good luck!
O.K, I see gullum has given you the right answer
Hi Gullum,
Yes I did. No success - always the same silly error message. Not enough Memory - It is resistent :-(
By the way - How many memory should be free after plain installation of your 4MB nothing else? Tried already the 8MB - same error.
And the internet problem - any idea?
Thanks,
Boris

Did you downgrade to WM5 before uppgrating to Prophet Touch? this activesync is only related to a flash problem something you did wrong when flashing.... and the wifi problem is probable also because of the same reason.
can you open contacts? or does it just show for 1-2 sec and closes?
Hi,
I followed the Guide you provided. Worked without any error.
Ok the first time I used SBP backup in WM5 to backup my contacts and figured out that SBP cannot read the contacts in WM6 (Bad software).
So I downgraded again and synched with Outlock first.
Then I upgraded again to Prophet Touch4MB and tried to sync with that silly error - And now i am getting -> Not enough Memory
Boris
And yes the contacts just come up for a second (but empty as far as I see).
Thanks

He's right Boris... '
Just follow his HR instructions from a few post before and all should be fine. Or do a Hard Reset the classic way:
Hold Cam and Comm button pressed, punch the reset hole with the stylus. Release the stylus but keep buttons pressed. A message whith with letters on a black background will tell you to press the green receive button to format, so press the receive button with the green phone-symbol. Release the cam ans Com button and the on screen message tells you that it is formatting and within a second that formatting is completed. release everything and your device will start up neat and clean.
SPB Backup is the bug !
Thanks and yes you are right.
I did hard reset again and when the device is booting active sync gets started automatically. And then it starts sync including the contacts.
After that I have tried to copy my notes ... with SPB Backup again (WM5 backup). It loads the SMS, Notes, ... but besides it crashes the contacts.
So reseted again and synced the contacts and left SPB out of scope completely.
Thanks again
Now I am trying to understand Touch flow
Ah, btw the WIFI and Internet works also.

having problem when trying to enble Wifi and Bluetooth after upgrading to WM 6

I believe most people face this problem. I hv no solution to it, but I personally believe this is not a hardware prob and it can be solved. Hope to start this thread so everyone can discuss this together and come up with something.
got this from other thread...
bull_do3er said:
put registry editor shortcut in \windows\startup
put wififix.reg in \Program Files
all this does is set the HTCPreloadwifi=1 everytime i need to reset my device. i think the problem is the value was resetted to 0 everytime you reset your device. That's why the wifi doesnt work. not sure if this works for everyone. but for me its working nearly everytime.

Pehaps it is useful to give some more specific details. Indeed there are several users that run in to these problems, but many more (including myself) never experienced any misbehaviour whatsoever. There must be a difference somewhere.....
i faced the prob which when u set the HTCPreloadwifi to 1, it revert back to 0 after soft reset. then i found that this is actually bcoz of the file "WiFiInit", which is in the startup. so i removed it from the startup, set the HTCPreloadwifi to 1, then power off and on it instead of soft reset (soft reset might work, just play safe.)

rondol1, will you stay here in this thread. who knows, we might spot the difference between your "working" device and our "half-working" device. appreciate that.
The point is, I never changed anything after flashing the ROM and WIFI works right away. I have noticed that with WEP encryption enabled things don't go that smooth. Without security OR with WPA enabled, I don't experience any problems with WIFI. About Bluetooth, I really don't use it, only to connect my TomTom GPS receiver and that give no problem whatsoever. But that comparison isn't fair, cos the TomTom app takes care of it by itself, without the general WM6 settings.
Perhaps it's good to mention that I use the latest WM6 builds, I red your post in some threads from older ROM's too. Could be that those earlier release had more bugs on this point.
i'm using Fantastic Mobiz v2.0b4....actually wanna to load up other new wm6, but instead of avoiding, i think we shd try to solve the problem..
anyway, i am thinking about whether there is anything wrong with the registry that caused the prob, or any 3rd party software that is interrupting the bluetooth's functioning. is there any way to "compare" the registries?
I don't know, but I hardly use any 3d-party software. And about solving the probs on early WM6 builds: isn't that a Microsoft job? If there is a problem in the OS, we don't gonna solve it by changing some regs!

haha...ya...but i meant a cooked version of wm6. the developer might hv added something which works on his but not on others. any assumption hv to take into consideration. i guess that is how most probs are solved.
seems like no one patronize this thread...ahah , anyway i will still try to update what i've discovered until the next version of rom is up. who knows, people might be desperate and found this thread. i just hope someone will join in the discussion or i will look like a bloody fool who participates in my own thread.
right now, i insert btdwake and btlauncher to my startup folder. it works most of the time (not sure it works bcoz of the files that i put in the startup folder).
i still think that it might be a registry problem. will compare the registry with a working set's one of these days.
I've got also a problem when trying to enble Wifi, what you've done exactly? Does it works?

hi Gaexu. well...it is easy to make things work, but problem lies on the steps that make them work. enabling my wifi is fine, but not perfect.
I suppose your prob is when u go to comm manager, click on the "Wlan", then u see the radar (loading), after that, nothing happened, the icon still show the grey icon with the cross.
steps:
1.)first you gotta remove a file called "WiFiInit" from \windows\startup\ folder.
2.)next, go to the registry using PHM Registry Editor. go to HKLM\Comm\TNETWLN1\Parms, there are 2 reg dwords - "HTCPreloadStatus" and 'HTCPreloadWifi". change their value to "1".
3.)power off the device and on it back.
the reason to remove "WiFiInit" from startup is bcoz it seems to cause "HTCPreloadStatus" value to revert back to "0" after a soft reset. actually i've remove a few more things from startup, but i dun think there is any "linkage".
sorry about this, but don't expect the wifi to be enabled as easy before upgrading (at least not for me). to enable the wifi for the first time (after you soft reset everytime), go to comm manager, click on WLAN. then the radar thingy comes out, rotate a few round and disappear. while it is rotating, observe the "G" on top, it changes to the wifi icon and revert back to the "G". that means wifi is detected. click on WLAN again, and same thing will happen. now, push the on/off button to black out the screen(standby mode) and turn on again. wifi comes alive.
i am too long winded. this is my first time in my life typing more than 6 lines in a forum. do let me know if it doesn't work. good luck.
Thanks for your help
The Wifi works, but just for about 30seconds or 1minute... then it turns off
does anyone know this problem?
I will try it again and again,
thanks

hv u change the value in the registry?
Yes, "HTCPreloadStatus" and 'HTCPreloadWifi" have the decimal value 1.
HTCResumeWifi = 0
I will retry it with another network (not the one from my University) maybe it works...
Gaexu, so how's your bluetooth? working perfectly?
i looked through the registry and found that many of the bluetooth keys are incomplete after comparing with other devices...but i need to extract more info from a workin prophet...
Hi scarymoviesg
Now my Wifi works perfekt (not with the one from the University but with all the others)

dissapearing text messages

ive seen this discussed somewhere else, maybe it was ppcgeeks, but the problem is, i lose text messages when i soft reset.
i dont have much information about it, but if i soft reset soonafter a soft reset, or even an hour or so after a string of text messages, they will sometimes just not be there any more.
anyone have any idea why this is happening, or more importantly how to fix it?
thanks
i would really like some info on this. i cant offer any help other than verifying that it happens to me too. i think it has happened with both sms and mms too actually. i dont like it though
The only way I've been able to save my SMS when I reset is by holding the button to power the phone off rather than using the stylus to reset. Every time I use the reset button I lose info. Power the phone down, then turn it back on. Should help.
Sounds alot like a cache issue.... Sometimes things get put into mem cache and will be saved later when enough has been stored.... I do not know how to adjust it tho.... I'd say that between the 3 of you, there is a common program that you have installed that may be changing the way your messages are stored.... just a theory on my part, cuz I don't have that issue....
Perhaps 1 of you can flash the ROM from the 3.2.0 post and install nothing but your carrier and then send a bunch of SMS messages. Then do a soft reset to see if they stay....!
are you running a cooked rom?
i recall having this on pre 6.1 roms, though you will always risk data loss if you suddenly soft reset your device with the reset button instead of powering it down properly
i have used the same apps on my phone for a while and only started noticing this messaging issue recently. the more i think about it i think it might have started once i started using 6.1 roms. before that i was just on alltels updated stock rom and this didnt happen. but on both no2chems 5069k and now dcd's 3.2 it happens.
so..maybe its a 6.1 issue? maybe a 6.1 cache issue? all of these 6.1 roms we are using are going to have bugs so this is what im guessing.
just read the post directly above mine...... so maybe im wrong.
anyone else offer any suggestions?
This is definitely a cache issue I discovered some time ago, I think even with 6.0. If you use the reset button or pull the battery within an hour or less of doing text messaging you have to shut down Outlook/SMS first so that it will write the cache to the database.
I'm on Verizon.. This has happened to me even with the stock ROM. Not only do new text messages disappear, but if you delete all your text messages.. then reset.. they are all back.
It does appear to be a cache issue. It takes some time before changes are permanent I guess.
This happened to me on Stock with original Arcsoft, Also on DCD ROM 3.1.2, 3.1.6, 3.2.0.. with various Arcsoft versions 5.xx.
I have found no way to change this.. but I haven't checked all the reg keys for a setting that might do this. If I discover one, I'll post back.

GPS hardware port resetting to (none)?

Hey Guys,
as the thread title says, every time i try and assign a com port to the GPS, that setting gets erased and reset to (none).. any ideas?
Update: I tried going back to the stock bell rom, and it allows me to assign a hardware port and save it. Switched back to the DCD, and even PPC one (after re-upgrading radio/bootloader) and still not working... additionally i also noticed that the ##778# program is not working either .
Any ideas again?
Is it poosible you have a task amanager running that closes programs when you click in the top right? It may be closing the settings box instead of saving it with the ok button. I've seen others with a similar issue. Try using the hard "ok" button on the phone instead of tapping ok in the top right to see if it saves.

From what I understand, the "Hardware" port is only needed if you have an external GPS connected to the phone. Being that you have no other GPS connected, it's automatically setting itself back to none. These settings are not necessary when using the internal GPS. The port located in the Programs tab is what's critical for "Programs" to use.
Mine does the same thing, but of course I don't use my external gps because I JUST got my internal working!!!
thanks for the insight guys.
Anyone have any idea as to why the ##778# program isnt working? I need it to set up data on the phone. For some reason it's not working on DCD's, but works on the stock bell, as well as JD's (http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=32990)
If you're looking for EPST, try just ##778 Send. That brings it up for me.

[Q] ActiveSync crash

Hi all,
pretty serious issue with my HD2 (WM6.5). ActiveSync will start for one second then close immediately. Tried multiple reboots, etc etc.
Starting ActiveSync from the bluetooth application will say "connected" and "user authenticated" but it's still crashed and no sync is possible at all.
Now, I know the ultimate but quick remedy is to hard-reset but before I do this last step, maybe there is a reg-tweak of something I can try ? Like "reinstalling" ActiveSync (which I know is part of the ROM so that makes no sense but you get the idea).
Any tips ?
If you reinstall ActiveSync to your phone and computer and you still experience this problem then I am afriad a hard reset is hour only other option.
Txs, no I didn't reinstall ActiveSync on the mobile cos I didn't think that was possible at all ?
It's not the computer that has the issue, but the mobile : go to programs/tools/ActiveSync, application starts for one second then crashes. No error messages no nothing.
BTW is there like an "event viewer" on WM6.5 ?
Txs.

I am not sure about an "event viewer" or "event log" in Windows Mobile, although it is very possible. Maybe someone with more knowledge than I can chime incand add to this.
It does sound like your ActiveSync is currupted though. A hard reset will probably be the only fix unless someone else can provide you with a ActiveSync cab file. This type offile would force the old ActiveSync to uninstall befor it installs ActiveSync.
Ouch I don't want to hard reset, again...
Gotta be a quickfix tho, somewhere...
